Title: [Guide] People Trying to Recover wallet.dat
Post by: ImThour on August 31, 2020, 02:00:13 PM
Hey,

I see most of the users here are posting how they can recover wallet.dat and most of them are:
- Finding or Buying wallet.dat from Marketplaces with 50+ BTC in it

I am sure, there is no possible way to recover your wallet.dat as it is encrypted for some reason. If it was that easy, the whole system is under danger.
The only possible thing you can do is use: btcrecover (https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover) - It is a brute-force method tool which can be used.

Hope this will help you and avoid creation of more topics similar to this, I can already see this section of board is filled with these posts.
Good Luck!

This sentence is not really true - do not forget about John the Ripper and Hashcat.

if someone colors a piece of wood yellow and sells it to you as a bar of gold, you don't end up owning gold no matter how much you try. you still own a yellow wood!
that's what these "wallet" files are, they are fake manipulated files that easily fool greedy people thinking they have won the lottery and can now become rich.
