Title: Question About Old Mining Hardware Post by: CokoNutzo on September 02, 2020, 06:32:15 PM A friend who mined a couple of years ago is moving and he's leaving in a storage around 150 Antminers S7LN with PSU's, he has offered them to me for nothing but I have neither the intention to start mining nor have free/cheap electricity to make it profitable.
So I was wondering if I could even sell them at all, they are way slower than the miners today. I made some quick research on Ebay and found multiple Antminers S7 selling for hundreds but it doesn't seems like people are bidding or buying. Any advice or insight is apreciated. Other then that the s9 modded to run low speed is a better place heater. Title: Re: Question About Old Mining Hardware Post by: mikeywith on September 03, 2020, 11:46:28 AM I have seen S9s go for less than this price, as low as $30 with PSU, I think the fair price for the S7 LN is anywhere between 10-20$ if it's working perfectly and comes with the power supply.
eBay is a paradise of those mining gears sellers, they have a few outdated gears sitting in their garage, they put a crazy high price tag and wait for a newbie to fall for it, trust me, some people think all miners are equal and they all make money so no problem paying $100 for an old gear like the S7, but awareness is spreading and now we see fewer people fall for that which is good. I have one for sale up here for $80 shipped CONUS that is probably never going to sell.
It's still a somewhat efficient 1000W power supply that is quiet. Yes it only has short leads but since you have a lot of them you could probably get $20 each on Craigslist / Facebook marketplace. If you are willing to deal with all the people that will waste your time. If you pull the fans you can probably get $5 / each for them if they are clean & working. The aluminium case / heatsinks are probably about $0.15 / lb and the boards themselves are probably about $0.75 / lb at a local scrap yard (NY pricing) Since you are talking about 150 units there is value there if you want to put in the time and effort. -Dave |
