Title: Seeking for mining advice
Post by: Rowenta on September 03, 2020, 03:14:51 PM
Where I'm from we don't normally have constant electricity, most times we have only 5 hours electricity in 24hrs, very bad isn't it? This is why I can't use grid electricity to mine coins, is there any ways I can go about this?

Solar power and batteries, but realistically it probably isn't worth it. You could partner up with someone and invest in a remote setup someplace (if you can trust that person or organization).

There is also the "proof of stake" options that will allow you to "earn" coins that way.

Sometimes it is really better to buy/invest in coins instead of mining.

Since you don't have good electricity in your country that's a big bad news, if you can't afford solar setup for twenty four hours mining then better wait for bear market and buy coins at cheaper rate, this is the best option I can think about.

I don't know if you're serious about that, but I'll take your word and trust

With 5 hours of electricity daily, forget about mining, it's doesn't make any sense

Mining is good if you have profits, and I can assure you the rig should be online 24/7

You can see at www.whattomine.com how much you can earn 5 hours daily

Now I'll give my opinion about this, it's horrible to not have full time electricity, and you can think about build a solar system to fix this problem and you can mine with this system to pay the solar system
It's up to you to research and make a plan, it's not hard to build, maybe you can buy used parts and start asap

You can't even compete on mining if you have 24/7 electricity hehe, imagine 5 hours hehe

Forget about mining, your case is closed, buy coins and when they rise you sell them, that is the only option to you.

Then build solar panels and buy batteries depending on the watts of all the graphics card you plan to buy, you want my advice? Go for graphics cards with small watts consume like rx470, 480, 570 and 580 or GTX 1650 super or GTX  1660 super, these cards consume only 90watts at full load

Batteries is just too expensive, solar is only worth on grid-tie configuration.

its easier to rent out the mining power online and there are many sites which provides that . Going Solar with enough battery backup will be the next option but ROI will be more . Choose wisely for your investment and time

I prefer investing on coins than going solar unless you are a rich man already then things will go fine, I you are not it's better to wait till next bear market when almost all top altcoins will be dumped in value and buy good altcoins like BCH and NEO and wait for green market, this is the best way, stress free

There are too many things to worry about when mining coins like

1. Heat
2. Graphics card fan might stop working
3. If you plan to mine 24 hours a day you have to stay around with your mining rigs because fire breakout might happen
4. You will be forced to hold all the coins you mined if mining is not profitable anymore
5. Monitoring every minute, congratulations you just got a new wedded wife

There are a lot more issues but the ones you highlighted pretty much tell us that mining is no fun. It's a lot of work.

It is very difficult for you as a miner to only use electricity 5 hours a day and there will be no substitute for electricity for your mining, in my opinion it is better to stop your mining because all of that will be very detrimental to you if you insist on continuing to do mining. So you should find a solution or move your residence if you really want to continue mining, who knows after moving your residence you can enjoy electricity 24 hours a day for mining.

Calculate the amount that you will spend on graphics card and solar setup, it's way too much for the returns you will be getting every 24hrs running the rigs, you can easily pick some coins and split 2000$ on the projects, sit back and wait for the perfect time to sell

build a hydrogen generator the only fuel you need is water you can even run it on your own piss , easy then you got 24/7 power to run mining for nearly free but you still need water .

My suggestion is to invest on online bitcoin mining websites since you're having issue with your electricity. But be careful since there are lots of company out there who's scamming people. don't be fool on their hype advertisements. you may check their credibility through facebook, youtube or here in bitcointalk.org. you might want to watch reviews or feedback from other people who's already making money out of it.

Having electricity only 5h per day you can still try to mine idena. In your situation it would be much better if you could invest in VPS (about $ 5 per month) than you would mine it 24/7 but even without it you can still mine several coins. Unfortunately, when you mine idena every two weeks, you have to participate in the online validation, which is always at 13:30 (UTC time), so if you have electricity in these hours, you can try it. More details on idena.io (http://idena.io)
