Title: 15,000 restaurants in France start accepting bitcoin payments through Just Eat!!
Post by: Burgalin_LLC on September 09, 2020, 05:54:46 AM
Bitcoin began to be accepted as a means of payment in the Just Eat restaurant delivery network in France. Users of more than 15,000 Just Eat food delivery restaurants now have bitcoin as a new payment option in the franchise's mobile application, in addition to credit cards, PayPal, cash, among others.

On the website of Just Eat France, a subsidiary of the British-Dutch consortium JustEat Takeaway, the steps to follow when choosing to pay with bitcoin are specified. As a prerequisite, the user requires access to a bitcoin wallet on their mobile, Just Eat says in the instructions. "To make a payment in Bitcoin, you need to create a cryptocurrency digital wallet by downloading special software or an application."

In many countries, everyday applications use btc and eth as a means of payment, an example is in Central America that they are creating startups that are all in one, that is, combining services such as uber, uber eat, exchange and others and accepts payments in btc and eth

According to this article (https://decrypt.co/41059/just-eat-now-accepting-bitcoin-payments-in-france) the service cuts across 15,000 restaurants in France, not 1,500.
Overall, It's a good step forward for publicity and adoption as people would struggle less to find ways to spend bitcoins. They firm also plans to make inroads into other countries like the U.S, leading to more adoption.
But, this part of the article caught my eye;

...Payments using Bitcoin will be calculated based on the current price charged by Bitpay. However, if a Bitcoin payment is cancelled, the customer will be refunded in Euros, with payment being sent to a customer’s traditional bank account.

“When you make your initial payment, Bitcoin is already converted into Euros. The rate applicable at the time of your payment will therefore be the rate applied for reimbursement,” the website says.

If I use Bitcoin there is a likelihood that I wish to remain private, compelling users to divulge their bank details for a refund when an order is cancelled doesn't quite sit right with me. Understandably, they are using a payment processor, so all transactions made in bitcoins are immediately converted to fiat, they could however still hold some bitcoins in reserve precisely for this sort of situations.

I'm actually surprised to learn it wasn't already there. JustEat in Netherlands has been using Bitpay since at least 2017 through Thuisbezorgd (that's basically the only way I can pay for food delivery with Bitcoin), I'd assumed they have been doing it through the same partnership everywhere. JustEat was actually South Korean originated I thought, so the English-Dutch mention must mean they were bought over?

Anyway, Bitcoin users might be annoyed to use Bitpay to pay for that food the way I do every order haha. Word of caution: don't use RBF, and overestimate fees or Bitpay drops your tx and then you go through an annoying process of refunding.

It's definitely good news, but unfortunately, with a few Google searches it doesn't look like they're accepting bitcoin through Lightning(at least yet). Any widely used platform should really take the risk and accept Lightning payments if we want to see any adoption at all.

I agree but it’s better than nothing & a good step in the right direction. All new adoption is a positive & Rome wasn’t built in a day. It’s going to take years for absolute mainstream adoption but every little is good.

The interesting thing about this article is that the inclusion of Bitcoin as a means of payment in El Restaurant Just Eat in France is given by the demand for food delivery in the midst of the pandemic.

Which makes Bitcoin attractive to some customers and is considered a convenient means of payment. Also the fact can draw attention to the competition to other Restaurants to include Bitcoin and offer their customers this other payment alternative.

Ultimately, customers will be able to demonstrate the satisfaction and may demand service improvements, if any. From what I see, this is good news for Bitcoin.

Indeed, let's take one step at a time. What really matters is that we are going one step closer to mass adoption :). Improvements are to be followed.

I hope the some of the famous local online food and delivery service company here in our country, Grab Food and Food Panda, will get inspired from what Just Eat did. I'm sure many bitcoin enthusiasts here will be glad, not only because they can now buy food with their btc holding but mainly because of tech's great exposure in an unaware population.

Great news and movement for crypto I hope more country and even other business would consider accepting crypto as a payment method.
I think it is great to have this kind of option we wouldn't need to have any contact on the cashier it would stop spreading the virus and we could help some lives.
I also wish that this could also happen in my country and not just on restaurants but also in supermarkets since it is one of the places people couldn't avoid to visit since they would need something from it.

Understandably, they are using a payment processor, so all transactions made in bitcoins are immediately converted to fiat, they could however still hold some bitcoins in reserve precisely for this sort of situations.

In this case, privacy when paying with Bitcoin doesn't make much sense, because it's about delivering food to the user's address - but still maybe some could have problems with refund to their bank accounts, because some banks are not crypto friendly. While this is a positive move, many will certainly not like the fact that JustEat uses Bitpay, which still has some silly policy when it comes to fees - overpaying fees and warning that the user risks that the transaction will not be confirmed on time is simply stupid.

I personally would love to have the opportunity for a service like this in my country, regardless of the payment processor and some other minor illogicalities it would be nice to pay for some food with Bitcoin.

15,000 restaurants accept Bitcoin which is good news. Although they liquidate over Euros, the way they accept bitcoin has helped promote Bitcoin to those who use the restaurant's services.
This news gives the bitcoin community more confidence in this market.

If this is the main reason for using bitcoin, I am sorry to say that bitcoin will never go mainstream no matter how hard we try to push it! If privacy remains the epitome of reasons of using bitcoin, it will only grow in online casinos and darknet! If we really want to see bitcoin growing among the mass, the fear of KYC must be left behind for good! Definitely, if an individual chooses to remain anonymous, there's nothing we can do and we must respect his decision! But let's not make it a reason to push bitcoin back to underground where only hackers and criminals prefers to use it!

Really I don't see an issue in using bitcoin for any purchase (online or offline) if the government allows it. It's not important to hide behind the rock every time there is a question of privacy.

15 thousand restaurants is impressive! As for the privacy concern, I'm sure that food delivery like this requires an address, full name, email and mobile phone, so I don't think that a euro refund to the bank account is a big issue in this case.
I read in the article that they don't charge any additional fees for processing the BTC payment, and it sounds great, and Bitpay 1% fee is really low, but I fees like this cannot be it and hidden fees must apply. Okay, obviously there's Bitcoin transaction fee and it can be significant sometimes. But what about Bitpay's conversion rate? I've never used Bitpay, but it sounds like a suspiciously good deal. Plus, their reputation isn't great, and there must be good reasons for that.

Wow! thats good to hear.

couldnt hear this on the news. I feel like news like this rarely makes it on mainstream media.

1500 restaurants. I'm gonnalook up if there are certain companies behind or a lot of restaurants made this decision on their own.

Yeah! that's a lot of them and you're not gonna see something like this everyday!

If news like this will show once a week, then I think the whole crypto industry will advance to the next level where the economy of crypto will rise.

Most likely, if this kind of scenario are real, then other establishment will follow their adoptions.

Wow, cryptocurrency becomes more popular! This article can be a stepping stone for bitcoin to introduce in the whole world. It is not already a new idea that merchants will adopt the new mode of payment in order to convey some customers to buy. And as a customer, I think there are many customer right now specially those who are millennial will prefer to pay in bitcoin. We always look forward for cryptocurrency to become mainstream and popular in the world. And as pioneers, I believe we should be happy because we are already a foot step forward for investing in bitcoin.

I think Just Eat's decision was due to the virus, COVID19, which brought down a lot of establishments to close. Now, people prefer ordering online and to attract more clients, they have added Bitcoin as a method of payment. This is just my theory though but I am sure there is a high chance this has been brought due to the virus.

That is good news because people can try to pay using bitcoin to buy food in those restaurants. But for me, I don't want to use my bitcoin to just eat in those restaurants because I want to save every bitcoin that I have. I will still use fiat money than to use bitcoin, but I hope that other coins will be accepted as the payment transaction.

But using bitcoin as the payment can help people to avoid using physical money because they can use a mobile phone and scan the cost to pay the food. That will be like a cashless for making the transaction.

Everyone might not use bitcoin as payment in restaurants but I think this is also good for recognition. People using Just Eat will be able to see bitcoin in the payment option which is also good even if only a few will use it. It also has a good purpose why they included it since they saw a decline in using cash for payment. Though I also agree with you that I'd still prefer using cash. But it would also be great to see this kind of adoption in other countries as well.

This is a good initiative to make bitcoin valuable by being used for daily transactions and not just for investment. Perhaps, bitcoin today isn't the perfect currency for this transactions, I hope that devs are already working around to make bitcoin's fee, lower and its transactions speed to be more efficient.

But using bitcoin as the payment can help people to avoid using physical money because they can use a mobile phone and scan the cost to pay the food. That will be like a cashless for making the transaction.

But if the food will be delivered right to your house, you can still have a physical contact though, I believe bitcoin could also help as money is one of the dirtiest thing.

The popularity of Bitcoin payment is rising very quickly. There are too many places that accept Bitcoin as a payment option in many countries. In France, 15000 restaurants started to accept and this can help so many people start to use Bitcoin too. There are people who claim that Bitcoin is losing its popularity but these kind of news shows that there is no such thing now.

"To make a payment in Bitcoin, you need to create a cryptocurrency digital wallet by downloading special software or an application."

Interesting.
What special software/application? Is it a wallet application owned by the company or are they partnering with a payment processing company? Trying to know if they have been able to sort out certain important issues so that other businesses that plans to use Bitcoin can learn from them.

I believe the reason why it took JustEat a lot of time before they add Bitcoin payment to their services in France is because of the statement once said by the French Central Bank (Banque de France) that Bitcoin should not be considered as a means of payment but the pandemic seems to switch things in favor of cryptocurrency.

I guess we should expect more good news for cryptocurrency.

In this case, privacy when paying with Bitcoin doesn't make much sense, because it's about delivering food to the user's address
My bad, I was thinking of that, but as I rarely eat out, I do not quite know their privacy policy and I assumed they do not store the data they receive such as customer address but a transaction cannot be deleted as it's needed for accountability.

- but still maybe some could have problems with refund to their bank accounts, because some banks are not crypto friendly.
The refund would have nothing to do with cryptocurrency from what I understand; you send them Bitcoin, they convert it instantly using a payment processor and receive fiat. If an order is cancelled later, they'll be paying from their euro account into the customer's account, the bank would not be involved in the initial cryptocurrency transaction.

But what about Bitpay's conversion rate? I've never used Bitpay, but it sounds like a suspiciously good deal.
According to their website they do not charge any hidden fees besides the 1% and they take their conversion rate from exchanges for U.S and Eurozone purchases, while other regions is done indirectly
To calculate the exchange rate for US Dollars, we typically pull the market depth from an exchange with adequate liquidity and reliable withdrawal capabilities in the USA and Eurozone. We factor "slippage" into our exchange rates, which means that the larger the value of the invoice, the lower the exchange rate. Slippage is usually only noticeable on very large invoices.

We set exchange rates for non-USD currencies indirectly using the Open Exchange Rates API (http://openexchangerates.org/). In the future, as Bitcoin markets in non-USD currencies mature, BitPay will use those markets directly.

Same, bitcoin isn't a currency that you can spend anytime and anywhere, it's an asset that gives you a chance to earn a profit when price value surged.

Gonna save all of that bitcoin and sell it when it is already profitable. What if there are circumstances where you bought food by using bitcoin then suddenly the price goes high, definitely gonna regret it.

Another good news for crypto lovers especially to bitcoin users that are staying in France as they can now easily pay their bill there using bitcoin.
This is another step for bitcoin acceptance and this simple move will likely to influence other companies out there to follow this move.

I will be hoping that this will also happen in our country as I love ordering foods here and I would be love to pay via bitcoin or other currencies also if possible.

A part-time worker who might be a registered sex offender is going to deliver food to your doorstep in the middle of the night, what privacy are we talking about?  ;D . Anyhow, why is every good thing coming along with something bad?

Well, that ruined my appetite.

What decline in cash payment? They never accepted cash, just CC and Paypal.

In France restaurants have reopened since June, it's 3 months from then, rather than an increase in online orders we can talk about a decrease in them, I, for example, got bored with food delivery in early May, seriously, not going to pay twice as much as its worth, wait one hour for it and have it delivered like rationing in plastic boxes, I'm done with it, I'd rather spend one hour in the kitchen and eat stuff I burned half than ordering again.
Before the crisis I was eating pizza probably once a week, during the lockdown 3-4 times, now it's 3 months since I eat one and I'm not eager to touch it again.

This is really cool and hearing news like this gives me great hope for the future progression of bitcoin and or all other cryptocurrencies.  I would love a feature like this to hit Chicago Illinois here in the United States where I live.  I guess the only issue I could foresee happening is if there was a problem with the meal and you needed to do a refund.  Let's say bitcoin drops dramatically from the time you pay from the time you need that refund.  Restaurants could find some issues with this if they are not careful or do not know how to properly use bitcoin.

May be it is just the beginning only and after some period of time such information about possible means of payment like BTC will appear on websites of this Just Eat group in other countries also:
"Payment methods have been expanded and now include Apple Pay, Google Pay (via our Just Eat app) and bitcoin, in addition to other payment methods if offered by restaurants (credit card, Paypal, cash, checks or meal vouchers)".
Nevertheless it is a great step for Bitcoin, crypto in whole and for this group of restaurants. They are functioning in 13 countries. And of course acceptance of BTC depends not only on the desire of the owner of the restaurant, but on different nuances of the inner policy of the exact country. May be there is some reason. So I hope this one great step in France and in Switzerland will prolong lots of such great steps in other countries, it would be a good example)

I like the idea. A similar sites operate in many countries.

For example, tin 2017 a site with access to more than 5000 restaurants did the same thing in Poland.

I wonder how they are doing. How many people actually chose Bitcoin over a bank payment.

I must say, as a French member, I had never heard of Just Eat. I'm not a big food delivery client though. During the pandemic I did use such services a few times, mainly because they had promo offers, so I used Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

It turns out Just Eat has bought and integrated/renamed Allo Resto, I had heard of that one, so it makes sense.

That sound so good for the bitcoin system adaptation. We can sense that now bitcoin is really one of the best payment options since these establishment are accepting bitcoin. It will be a matter of time that more and more people will acknowledge bitcoin's worth. At the same time bitcoin also is one of the biggest currency in the world after being listed. If I were have to own an establishment then I should also integrate bitcoin as payment to get more sales to my business. It is one way of doing arts in business having bitcoin as an option.

It's just only during these Pandemic too that I started to use online deliveries  and accepting crypto as a  payment. It is easier in transactions and verifications, unfortunately only few were open to this idea and still prefers mobile banking for transactions. If only there will be a establish company who will start doing it so in my country just probably the only time many will accept it. It's a great move for France Just Eat to accept  crypto for a lesser physical transactions to avoid the virus.

Bitcoin began to be accepted as a means of payment in the Just Eat restaurant delivery network in France. Users of more than 1,500 Just Eat food delivery restaurants now have bitcoin as a new payment option in the franchise's mobile application, in addition to credit cards, PayPal, cash, among others.
It is a good news for all the BTCitcoin investors as they are getting more options for the currency they are holding, but i would like to know the procedure, are they allowing zero confirmation transactions while verifying your identity or you need to wait for the confirmation without verifying anything. If anyone in the forum tried this payment option i would like to hear from them.

just give it a time and the adoption will grow. new method will take time for people to appreciate its benefits. if more people will find out about the advantages, they will endorse it to their friends, colleagues and family. and word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool. but this is already a very good start.
if more and more apps will integrate btc or crypto payment, users of that app will check on how to use crypto and will be a good alternative to use cash.

The article also says that the company is partnering with cryptocurrency payment provider Bitpay which allows users to pay with the digital currency Bitcoin very easily and in seconds. The Bitcoin price will be calculated depending on the current price on the Bitpay application and the platform will not charge a transaction fee for payments using Bitcoin. Of course it will be a little profitable because without any additional costs.

For cancellation of orders paid in bitcoin, the platform will no longer return in bitcoin, but will be returned in Euro to the user's account. The refund amount does not depend on the realtime bitcoin price.

Even though I'm not French, but as a crypto community, I would be very happy to hear the news that restaurants in France
started accepting Bitcoin as payment. I am also happy that this news also proves the popularity of Bitcoin is increasing again.
Hopefully more and more countries will start accepting Bitcoin as payment, so it will be easier to spend Bitcoin.

...Payments using Bitcoin will be calculated based on the current price charged by Bitpay.

For online orders, most merchants will have to do this in order to avoid losses. They're converting BTC into fiat instantly in order not to be affected by price volatility, and converting BTC -> fiat to only refund the order back into BTC minutes/hours later could turn, with a sufficient amount of orders, into a considerable change of income and profit.

Yeah, the issue isn't that there are services out there giving you a choice. It is that the list of these choices you get shortens with every new such updates. We should have a choice no matter if we're willing to be anonymous or not.

Assuming that more anonymity/privacy pushes for more (cyber)crimes is wrong in the first place, I believe. A lot of people prefer to keep their cash out of banks for safety and privacy purposes, so that your bank doesn't ask you why you spent your bucks on certain stuff or where that money comes from.

I'm happy to see Bitcoin being accepted by more and more countries, companies and individuals worldwide. But adoption shouldn't mean leaving a person who desires to be anonymous with no options because it leaves them with 2 options: either having to do a criminal activity (tax evasion) in order to make use of their BTC or having to leave their privacy behind and follow the KYC rules.

Even if I have regrets for not getting into crypto earlier, I still feel lucky to be in it before it takes off in terms of mass adoption. Most likely, whoever owns that business is investing in bitcoin and that tells a lot about how they find their investment lucrative. I hope more businesses in my country start doing the same. The little promotion could give bitcoin adoption an extra push.

Everything will depend on the earnings in the test, if the other companies see that they did well accepting btc, believe me they will accept it one more time knowing that they will not have problems as in paypal with refunds or account limitation

Time after time, we are seeing different establishments that are accepting different types of cryptocurrencies already.

Overall, the cryptocurrencies are gaining traction now and its adoption is moving slowly with this businesses accepting it. I know that this will continue in the future and for sure more and more people will know about it already. I just hope that more people will be using Lightning Network too in the future so we will experience low fees and fast tx speed.

However, I have to process my Schengen visa first plus the budget, everything, etc., when this COVID-19 virus is over.

I just really hope that the Philippines and other countries would soon follow suit on what these restaurants in France are adopting Bitcoin in a massive way.

Already we've got more online food delivery platforms accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Few of which were the when-hungry (https://when-hungry.menu/en), takeaway (https://www.takeaway.com), shuttle delivery (https://www.shuttledelivery.co.kr/en). These have got limited service locations, around Europe and some has established little wider. Now a food chain getting into botcoin acceptance partnering with payment support system is really a step forward in the growth and widening of the bitcoin market.

15,000 restaurants in France is a big number of the merchant which start accepting bitcoin payment. That is great news for the crypto world, and I guess that can lift the crypto become popular in France. If many restaurants can succeed to do that, I think many more restaurants in France will follow the way, and soon, we will see France will be a destination for people who work in the crypto world to the holiday because they can easily to use crypto. The adopting process will not move slow because the other businesses will also use bitcoin payment.

So, basically news is that Bitpay partnered with Just Eat and this is the outcome? This is really cool, and if they create income for Just Eat, there will be more parnerships coming up. I've only used bitpay once to buy my laptop and it worked like a charm. I would most definitely use Just Eat if it comes to my country.

For online orders, most merchants will have to do this in order to avoid losses. They're converting BTC into fiat instantly in order not to be affected by price volatility, and converting BTC
Payment processors is already common practice for outlets that accept payment in Bitcoin although not many Bitcoin users appreciate it.
I would like to contrast this situation with another restaurant which got involved in Bitcoin recently, although in a different way;
A Canadian based restaurant recently converted all its holdings to Bitcoin (https://news.bitcoin.com/canada-restaurant-chain-tahinis-cash-reserves-bitcoin/), effectively using it as a reserve currency over other options like fiat or gold. They however did not begin accepting it as a means of making payments and even discouraged others from spending theirs, one of their tweets (https://twitter.com/TheRealTahinis/status/1300920689625640960?s=20) in response to a question about whether they would accept Bitcoin as payment read:
"Thank you brother. We will not unfortunately,, however we do recommend that you don’t spend it. It’s to be hoarded  ;)"
In a subsequent tweet (https://twitter.com/TheRealTahinis/status/1300922504114995200?s=20), they wrote that; "...We will probably accept it when it stabilizes in price. That is 10 years out maybe more in our opinion Thumbs up"

My question is; Which is better practice to promote adoption of Bitcoin by merchants and outlets?
• Accepting it as a payment method, but not holding it.
• Holding it as a reserve currency, but not accepting it as payment.

I personally would chose the first, one of the best ways to improve adoption imo, is by providing more daily uses for Bitcoin and giving holders an avenue to use it practically, rather than just leaving it sitting in a wallet.

I believe the reason why it took JustEat a lot of time before they add Bitcoin payment to their services in France is because of the statement once said by the French Central Bank (Banque de France) that Bitcoin should not be considered as a means of payment but the pandemic seems to switch things in favor of cryptocurrency.

That didn't stop 5,000+ French tabacs selling Bitcoin (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-france-bitcoin-tobacco/french-tabac-shops-diversify-selling-bitcoin-for-cash-idUSKCN1P21ZN) though! Though I suppose selling Bitcoin and accepting it as payment are legally two different things...

Speak for yourself =p Bitcoin's an experiment for me, still, even with all my belief and invested time in it. I earn what I can, save what I can, but I also want to spend it and use it to live. Worse case scenario Bitcoin dies (hey, possible), at least I can look back on all those pizzas paid for with a small slice of history;)

Also, those restaurants seem like never know how to use bitcoin properly so as they make a partnership with bitpay. I'll be happy if those restaurant directly accept bitcoin without any party. However, this is a good move for them, at least with they accept bitcoin there will be many people who curious to bitcoin and they will find more about it.

Achieving mainstream adoption is not that easy and it needs a lot of time and patience for it to become accomplished.

But this is the only start, with just a simple adoption like this, making businesses accepts bitcoin as a payment this is a big help for us. Bitcoin community should be really supporting this cryptocurrency so that not only restaurants will be the one to accept bitcoin as a payment, so that any other business can also join in this development.

Lightning payments will surely become normalized soon so we just need to take some time.

But, this part of the article caught my eye;

...Payments using Bitcoin will be calculated based on the current price charged by Bitpay.

Understandably, they are using a payment processor, so all transactions made in bitcoins are immediately converted to fiat, they could however still hold some bitcoins in reserve precisely for this sort of situations.

As this was a good start for the bitcoin to be known in public, the safety guidelines of paying cryptocurrency might raise questions for the anonymity of the wallet, and the paying method itself, through bitpay. Many parts of bitcoin is still unknown to the many, and most of the users are partly just going with the flow of the masses as they see it as good investments. We can't just abandon the thought of thieves lurking around, waiting for a great chance to attack and claim your coins easily now that it is in public market. Commonly, payments through bitcoins are private and anonymous but in public, we cant think of it the same, as the government may interfere about the rules of payments.

The problem with most of these merchants that are accepting Bitcoin is always the same. They only accept Bitcoin as a alternative payment, if you work through some kind of payment processor and in this case it looks like they are using BitPay? (or are they just using it's market price for Bitcoin)?

They are only interested in the Fiat currency and not the potential of the new alternative currency. The fact that "cancelled" transactions are refunded in Euro is a clear indication of what their main goal is with Crypto currencies.  ::)

Also, do they offer some kind of discount for Crypto payment to promote it? No...  :-\

My question is; Which is better practice to promote adoption of Bitcoin by merchants and outlets?
• Accepting it as a payment method, but not holding it.
• Holding it as a reserve currency, but not accepting it as payment.
Holding BTC as a reserve currency in an already risky environment (which is a standing up business) is risky as hell. In the end, we pay our everyday stuff and receive our salaries in USD value - not in BTC. Having your income go crazy from not even a month-by-month but a daily basis is probably as risky for a business owner as holding a shitcoin is.

The fact that the owner of the restaurant you have linked turned their money into BTC doesn't mean anything else but the fact that he is a Bitcoin believer and investor. While I understand it'd be better if we were purists and had no payment processors, that is just from our view. Let's not look past the consequences Bitcoin could suffer from if businesses adopting it the "purist" way started struggling.

However, we should underline one thing, which is the potential volume of transactions that are actually going to be done through Bitcoin. I doubt there would be a significant volume in comparison to cash/card txs they'll receive.

The fact that "cancelled" transactions are refunded in Euro is a clear indication of what their main goal is with Crypto currencies.  ::)
It doesn't look like a bad intention to me. They're accepting Bitcoin. A business will obviously have mostly one main goal, and that is earning a profit. This is just one more choice for our French BTC fellas. :)

Been thinking for this since I heard bunch of small businesses started to accept bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as paymetns (are you sure that they are just alternative payments? Is there no any merchants who really accetps bitcoin not just to be alternative payment method but to be a stand-alone?) I mean, they have an fixed amount for their products or services, not dependent on the current value of fiat currencies.
But this will type of payment method is lethal to the business itself since bitcoin has high volatility, making the income of businesses less or higher.

I hope this news will have a good impact and many will begin to follow because every facility must be supported for the common interest.

This is something that actually be encouraged and its a good one coming from a country like France but what surprises me more is that a lot of other countries that are not even as developed as France are just focused and dwelling on the bad nature or what unscrupulous individuals are doing with bitcoin and using that to determine their course of action against the technology. Its to encourage the aggregator service provider to expand its services to other countries of the world.

Although they do not hold BTC but liquidate through the Euro, this makes it easy for crypto holders to use bitcoins to buy.
Tourists will have the advantage of using Bitcoin instead of switching to payment services they don't own.
This is good news, maybe in the coming years, the whole of Europe will allow payments in Bitcoin.

on our country , startups like that are also rising like a mushroom but i dont know if most of them are now accepting a crypto but its a good match knowing that they mainly operate online or by the use of applications .

Adding up btc into their payment options wouldnt enrich on tourism aspect but rather it would really be just a good addition or option for someone who do make use of crypto which they can really
make a direct payment with it without bringing any cash onto their pocket.

Im still doubt if they would purely be using up their coin.hence, they can acquire or avail services or buy stuffs on just using their own fiat money. Not to be negative on here but majority
already sees for crypto as an investment.

Well, this is a good new when it comes to adoption matter.

this is good news and also great progress for Bitcoin in the future. but one of the obstacles that will occur is the length of the verification process when making transactions.

It is indeed a very good news because more and more people start accepting the payment in btc the wide use of bitcoin will keep on rising. Also, tourist will be able o use the bitcoin and instead of buying the local currency or through credit card using it, better to pay with lower fees through bitcoin and no need to worry of carrying physical fiat.

It is clear that this progress must be appreciated because it contributes to the convenience that may be related to existing facilities and bitcoin also helps to make it easy for bitcoin holders to enjoy these conveniences.
I hope this news will have a good impact and many will begin to follow because every facility must be supported for the common interest.
Its quite hard to disagree with this point - its most certainly is good for bitcoin and its users.
However, I have to admit, the existing bitcoin payment system is so inconvenient, miles away from credit card payments.
We all are cheerish because its huge step for bitcoin, but from a regular person's perspective its still hardly usable - long road ahead, thats my point.

This is amazing, they are making bitcoin as "local" thing, this is a great step to make bitcoin more popular, but I just wonder how was the transaction delay or its verification and its fee? or is this JustEat restaurant is a big resto that offers pricey to not feel the fee on paying its bill?  ??? ???

And how about the value of bitcoin, does not affect the business at all?

At first when I read the title I was amazed, what happened in this country that made 15K restaurants to accept bitcoin payments.
I have been in France for many times and I have walked so much in Paris, Lyon... Oh I miss France. Btw still amazing news, I have never used any food delivery here and don't know much about Just Eat (but I have often seen Domino's Pizza couriers in streets) but seems it's one of the most popular food delivery company in France.

Great job, usually, such things lead other companies to repeat the same. I hope Glovo, Bolt and other good startups that include food delivery and taxi services, will accept bitcoin payments along with cash and cards.

The principle of services such as Bitpay is that it converts BTC instantly, so the restaurants never get crypto, they get fiat (in this case, euros). The service also takes the risk of the transaction not confirming right away (maybe checking you have put enough fees, not sure about that).

I wish sooner in my country also it will start and after Covid is over we will have more importance being given to online payment rather than using the fiat. Though not may merchants currently being using at this point of time but slowly people are being aware of the benefits about it and some push form the government will help a lot of businesses to start using btc for payment. Whenever my plan comes up to visit France, will be making payment via btc.
