Title: How can we convince those countries that see crypto as illegal?
Post by: TIDOVEE on September 19, 2020, 04:21:26 AM
Cryptocurrency is far moving into many countries, even though some countries are just yet neutral about it, not seeing at as being legal or illegal. One of them is my country, wether it will be turned against by the government or embraced is in the hands of the users, as much as there is no bad new of fraud,scams....we are still on the safe side.some countries are still very much against it Algeria,Bolivia,Ecuador,Bangladesh,Nepal,Macedonia they disapproved it as illegal. Is their any thing we can do to make them accept it?.

You're courageous.

I think we can't do anything unless they aware and understand about crypto itself. Introduce or teach people about crypto is not wrong, but if they know you were hold, deal, or make any transaction about crypto in illegal countries... you'll in trouble and the worst part get jailed.

Volatility, high risk, decentralization, often used for crime, and pseudo anonymous (Bitcoin characteristic) make government can't accept as legal tender and have full control of the currency. It's why they ban it to prevent from any issues.

None of these countries are bigger enough to influence other countries to do the same on the other side cryptos are regulated in UK and USA like nations which will make other nations to make cryptos okay to be accepted into their Nations.

We need the people who can understand the technology in the leadership to enable legalization until that it will be a neutral or against conditions.

Basically it's only depends on the governments of those countries where cryptocurrencies are still illegal. It looks they're confused to take positive decision on this matter or maybe they're afraid to think that cryptocurrencies can be harmful for the economy unfortunately nobody can convince them it's all depends on the governments of these countries they must try to understand the advantages of cryptocurrencies.

It depends on the government's perspective about cryptocurrency since it can be use illegally such as for money laundering and also to avoid tax, also the price of the cryptocurrency are volatile and many people see that this cryptocurrency is a complex one rather than a physical money many people first must need to understand the cryptocurrency before they can use it.

We cannot do much but the community or country where Cryptocurrency is legal can make a big example on how Cryptocurrency is well accepted and running, if countries that are banning Cryptocurrency will see that countries that adopt Cryptocurrency are more progressive, they will relax the ban and the strict regulation.

In my opinion, the best way to convince other countries about cryptocurrency is to put cryptocurrency on a positive light. I believe the reason why these countries make cry illegal is because of their intention to protect their citizens. When cryptocurrency is seen as a new world order, they will have no choice than join the movement.

You can't do anything to make them accept crypto in their countries but you can hope the crypto trend will be massive and major countries will have started to consider crypto as a legal payment or to be included into the legal jurisdiction.

This will make those countries will be following the major countries as they must also need to follow the development of technology.
It's very interesting to see how that will be happening in the future for sure.

Fighting governments are difficult, they have all the tools, maybe the best weapon is social media and elect officials that support crypto in your country. So I don't think that we can do as much though, look at India, crypto enthusiast fought very hard and brought the case to their Supreme Court and won. However, there are talks in their parliament already that they are going to ban crypto or at least RBI (Central Bank) wanted to overturn it. So it will be a uphill battle.

None.

Convincing these countries that sees crypto as illegal is like fighting against the government. At first, they are the ones who will choose if they will accept it or not. There is nothing we can do about it. Hoping?? Maybe but don't expect too much because some governments are banning it for the sake of their countrymen and to prevent them from getting scammed.

I'm thinking that there will be a time where these countries or at least some of them will change their decisions and will accept it. Maybe this will come when Bitcoin is at a higher price already.

It is true, but we must be able to show this positive view in real terms to every country in the world, because if we just say it by mouth or through words it is clear they will not believe this, because for those who do not understand crypto in a real The general public will always see it with a negative perspective, so what is needed here is to show positive actions for them so that they can believe in crypto indirectly.

Right now we can't do a thing yet but to those government who are not against to cryptocurrencies, then they are playing a big role here in order to show to those countries
that are banning the crypto that they are making a big mistake in their decision. And this will only happen if the countries who fully accept crypto can show that they are progressing that good because of crypto.

Or a certain country can who fully accept crypto can convince the other country to open their countries to cryptocurrencies but as an individual, we can't do that much to change their minds.

We need to let it happen by itself because we can not force those countries to accept bitcoin.
We don't know what they will want from bitcoin because they don't give more information about approving bitcoin.
I think they will see that bitcoin will be legal in many countries once they see bitcoin's benefit to their countries.
If you can use bitcoin in your country, you don't need to worry about legal or legal because your government lets you and your people use bitcoin.
I think your government is still learning about bitcoin, or they have another big problem that needs to handle because we are in the pandemic.

There is nothing we could do to convince them if they already close their mind about learning it.
The only way to prove to them is by letting them see and understand that it isn't illegal it depends on how the owners use it just like any other currencies that we have,
Every currencies could be used for illegal activities not just crypto so for me they are all equal when they would say that it is illegal currency.

You had already said if the crimes towards crypto will decrease in such a country, they will not probably take action on it such as banning.

There's nothing we can do, just wait and hope that they will open their mind that crypto and blockchain technology is very useful when it comes financial system. Yes, that's it, because the government cited often that it's being a threat to traditional monetary systems, they always think like this but the fact, crypto or especially Bitcoin are really no harm.

Just ignore them, we're still thankful that the vast of majority of all most countries are crypto friendly.

BTW, this topic will probably appropriate in Economic board.

It is difficult to convince and change a country's opinion on cryptocurrencies. Governments do not like a currency that they cannot control, even for countries that are open to cryptocurrencies, it is also difficult for cryptocurrencies to participate in the financial system.

Mine is just warning about investing in ponzi schemes. I guess they were aware already of its existence long time ago, but they don't mind to do it at anytime. It's just that some government knows that they can't regulate it fully because coins like Bitcoin is decentralized. Well sort of if you aren't using online wallets.

For illegal countries, I don't think that we can't stop them from banning it. Each country have their own reasons from banning it. There could be due to many money launderers or fear of terrorism.

We just gotta accept that some can't accept cryptos.

In our own little way, perhaps we have. I understand that others are saying we can do nothing. They are pessimistic. But don't belittle yourself too much. Don't think you are helpless in the face of your country's negative perception of Bitcoin.

You just continue to shed light on other people regarding Bitcoin. You continue to report scams using the name Bitcoin. You continue to try to explain objectively the characteristics of Bitcoin and how it could possibly make life better for your fellowmen. It is not illegal to appreciate Bitcoin in a country where it is illegal.

After all, Bitcoin is not a crime.

Small individuals like us will have no say in this world, but billion-dollar businesses can. as long as many large enterprises in countries propose to trade crypto through government, they guarantee to pay higher taxes then I think more governments will legalize it soon.
It is important that the demand for crypto business in your country is large, if there is potential then you should create a community to discuss crypto. that is the fastest way to convince.

Ideally, i do not think it is necessary to persuade or convince anyone or nation reasons why crypto currency and blockchain is important and legal.

Instead, let the developments, adoption and utilization of the said blockchain and crypto currency continues, when nations around take and use it for ease reasons, other nations would definitely follow suit.

Finally, you cannot let other news sources be a factor in you investing and taking full advantage of the market.

Cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin are not controlled by anybody and hence there are people who misuse it.
Though there are people who do use it for the positive aspects, the negative aspects come into the limelight.
This is why the Governments are against it since they want to protect their civilians from it.
There are also other reasons such that the Government can't control and hence they prohibit it's use in their country.
If all of us start using crypto for the positive aspects and if it over powers the negative aspects only then we might see all the Governments approving it.

It is due to the fact that the govts. And the beaurocracy in these countries is not aware about this advanced tech and they take it either as a scam or just take it as a threat to the traditional financial system.
I ak sure with time and awareness every place will be legalizing and encouraging cryptocurrencies.

That's right, we must see that the use of crypto in major countries can be successful and safe. when that can happen then we can see the world view, especially countries that still think a crypto is a tool of crime that can be better. we still lack examples of countries that can be examples of subjects.

There is nothing you can do about that, leave the decision making for the government, or do you plan to go for a protest on Bitcoin? So forget about it and do your thing. You’re even lucky that it’s neutral in your country.

I also think that in countries where it’s illegal, there are still people who are making use of it. You’re only going to face problem with the government when law enforcement agencies gets you making use of it or maybe you do a transaction to your bank account that clearly shows that it is something that has to do with cryptocurrency.

In Asia, cryptocurrency does have a very rapid development, many technologies have collaborated and been created based on cryptocurrency technology, unfortunately there are still many people who do not fully understand cryptocurrency so that some countries still have not legally provided cryptocurrency use.

The main reason behind marking the cryptocurrencies as "illegal" is the economical fear. Some countries are weak in termes of finances and if they really start integrating crypto into the country's payment systems, banks, shops etc that could cause a harmful damage if BTC for example dumps by 20 or 30% of its value. The only solution that i see is to use one of the payments processors just like BitPay to instantly make the conversion from BTC into Fiat in the moment of the payment.

If the benchmark is value is very volatile, I think it will be difficult. because even though my country does not prohibit it, what is often questioned is the issue of its fluctuating value and it is very risky for the asset holder itself. while on the other hand, there is no guarantee for losses that occur. In addition, the bounty industry is still in a bad state. I think if the bounty goes well, the government will approve it as an alternative job and also an investment asset.

Aren't fluctuations the attraction of crypto itself? indeed to get a fluctuating positive outlook is considered a bad thing when many new people arrive at a loss. but the current regulations do not yet support the use of crypto. but why not use stable crypto which can be used as a start or test.

The main reason governments are against the crypto use is the taxes. Many people are using crypto to invest and save without paying taxes to their government.
No country can absolutely stop crypto use. But they can make it harder to trade and use. And I am familiar with the situation on some countries listed, they have a ban on crypto trade but not on it's holding. Just how the China does.

I think it can be possible by trending on Twitter and filing a case in court.
Its clear example, we already have India.
When crypto was banned in India, People had put pressure on the government through Twitter, and a case was filed in the court (supreme court ), as a result, the crypto has been legalized in their country.

We are doing all this in Pakistan, hope cryptocurrency will be legal in Pakistan next year.

I guess they have their own reasons to make crypto currencies illegal. They probably don't have enough resources or tool to regulate crypto currencies. If crypto currencies are made legal in those countries, the government fears that the people will use it for committing various crimes such as tax evasion, illegal transactions or money laundering.
I have seen most of those countries that made crypto currencies illegal has laws passed where anyone using cryptocurrencies will be prosecuted for money laundering. Weird laws.

Cryptocurrency is also illegal in our country. The reason for this is that I think the government does not have the skilled manpower and technology to monitor cryptocurrency. The government will not be able to stop the scams that are happening through cryptocurrency now, so it can not be able to take advantage of cryptocurrency. But when the whole world is swept away by the tide of cryptocurrency, there will be no way for these backward countries to lag behind.

As it stands there is nothing I think can be done to make them accept it because everything lies on the hands of the government, but yet again when they see the rate at which other countries are adopting it, using it and so on, they will be forced to restructure their regulations. I think crypto has come to the stage where users needs to do their thing such that when their government sees the growth within it among their citizens they will have no choice than to do the needful. Crypto has gone so far and gradually countries will adopt it, no matter how long it takes their government. So in a nutshell, let the citizens continue with whatever they are doing because I believe that even in those countries, there are people still investing in crypto; thus when the government sees the growth achieved thus far will set a flexible regulations.

Maybe you can start by swiping the crypto community off the huge amount of scam project we have around, I really do not blame those countries who don't accept or see crypto as illegal because too many scam projects everywhere, even if you decide to trust a project and invest on it but somehow the team will manage to ruin that trust by exit scam, we need regulations and sanitization before anything else.

Countries deem cryptos as illegal because they fear that they mean less control for the government and for the federal banks.
And of course they don't want less control.
But i don't think it's a big problem that cryptos are illegal in some countries.
There are always ways for someone who wants to buy and sell crypto, and that fact that they are illegal makes it even more interesting.

No, unless you are powerful or have power to influence your government to legalise cryptocurrency.

I couldn’t imagine how people use crypto in that countries specially if they are punishable with hard consequences. Best advice is just don’t get caught, maybe your country is not yet ready for this technological changes maybe one day they will be enlightened.

This will happen when people really believe and can convince the government in their country that crypto is a profitable investment tool. what makes crypto difficult to accept by the government is because it is risky and they think that crypto can be misused like drug transactions, terrorism, and other illegal transactions.

Your country is doing it right. For new technologies best is for governments to totally not trying to regulate it. Regulations are usually made under influence of those that will lose business. Like first regulators of automobile industry listened people that worked or were invested in railroads.  Right now regulators listen credit card companies and banks.  Countries should let it develop freely and start to regulate after 5-10 years.

Well, you can actually continue to use it, there is no way they can stop you to use it because it is anon and you do not have to get caught, obviously it makes things a lot harder to buy them because you can't have a company that is legally working there that turns fiat into crypto (or vice versa) but you can still earn them by working and get them, and you can use paypal to get it into cash as well by selling to someone (or vice versa again).

So long story short, countries have to see that if they make it legal and taxed them they could make a ton of money, if they realize this believe me they will make it legal because there is one thing governments love more than anything and that is taxes, with taxes they can get more money and with more money they get more power.

I know that you are living in one of those countries but there is nothing to do, I say this because those countries obviously do not understand what this is about, bitcoin is a new technology and when it comes to technology the ones that win the most out of it are the ones that adopt it early, is it really any wonder that the US and China are some of the countries at the top of that list? Not really, they want this market to benefit them and that is why they have accepted it but the politicians in those countries that decided to make it illegal simply lack vision and sooner or later they will change their tune but by that time it will be too late.
