This must be a joke. You got an E5-2683 v4, which can only be run with DDR4 RAM.

The lowest DIMM of DDR4 I've found has 2GB, so having only 256MB DDR4 in a machine isn't even possible (unless it's a single board computer like the Raspberry Pi or some Odroid with soldered RAM).

Not to mention that running a Xeon with low RAM is just not what they were designed for in the first place.

My advice: Go buy some RAM  ::)

I do not understand it, since it is VPS, it should be scalable, so you should be able to choose the amount of RAM memory or if it has already been chosen, there should be no problem with buying / choosing an additional one.

BTW what operating system is on this VPS - I was looking for lightweight Linux distributions https://itsfoss.com/lightweight-linux-beginners/ (https://itsfoss.com/lightweight-linux-beginners/) and it is very difficult to find one with 256 mb of ram .... but as it turned out it is possible .. ..

Most VPS enquiries are sketchy. This peson obviously doesn't have control of the VPS config
which means it was purchased by someone else.

This information I think there is a lot on google you can consult carefully above it

The way VPS works is that everything is shared. So if a CPU has 20 cores, they rent out all 20 of them. Limit the CPU usage to 100% for each one and maybe they split the ram also. However 256mb is so little most operating systems can't even start with this little unless it's unix.

Students usually get some type of promo for VPS so this is why every week there is someone making a topic here asking "how to mine Bitcoin with VPS". Usually the VPS forbids any type of mining since it hogs resources, especially with free promo accounts.

The only coin that I recall that was profitable with VPS was maybe Zcoin back in 2017 days.
