A bit OT but, 25watts is pretty good. I'm already using an Athlon 200GE which is described to idle at 35w but i'm pulling in 45w at the wall from CPU alone. Core 1200, mem 1835, vcore 725mv takes 166W (at wall). System idle 25W => VGA ~141W 2 different cards. Aorus is a performance card , so its going to be power hungry. Red panda has a ref card maybe with a Samsung memoryRed Panda Mining youtuber same setting, same 53MH but only 137W at wall (system + VGA) => VGA ~112W I really dont understand that big difference ??? https://imgur.com/Jf5LUhW Title: Re: Post your 5700XT Power consumption mining ETH Post by: deadsix on September 21, 2020, 11:34:09 AM There could be several reasons: My system takes 25W, as far as i know, that's quite good, not much system can takes lower than 25W. Assuming red panda even do better at 20W, so his VGA need 137-20 = 117W to perform 53MH, that's incredible.Do you have the same components as Red Panda? CPU, Mainboard, other components... Maybe the power supply? Are you using 230 V or 110 V? //Im using fsp 1200W platium 220V which is a tier 1 efficient psu also. This has everything to do with power. Are you on a 230v electrical outlet or 110v? That reduces PSU efficiency, by 5-10%. Also, a 1200w psu will be horribly inefficient below 20% load, resulting in 80-85% efficiency, while Redpanda may be using a 450-500w psu which will still be at 25%+ load so giving a 90+ efficincy at 130w load (even a silver PSU will give that). PSU's are most efficient at loads between 25%-75% of rated capacity, and at low loads can be horribly inefficient, barely above the 80% efficiency needed to qualify for the certification. Title: Re: Post your 5700XT Power consumption mining ETH Post by: dikobraz123 on September 21, 2020, 02:00:26 PM I believe that the difference in consumption is due to the different number of fans on each card. I'd guesstimate that each fan probably can take 5-15 W , and fan consumption is not monitored by card sensors. More in this article:

2. Use a T CPU, like G4400T 4560T 3. Use a passive heatsink --> Arctic Alpine 11 / 12 4. Modify the Bios of the GPU and check the set voltage and the in fact voltage. go as low as possible for each card. 5. Go for a NICE supply unit. Title: Re: Post your 5700XT Power consumption mining ETH Post by: DrG on September 21, 2020, 03:51:27 PM It's probably not so much the load curve because even dropping 2% on the efficiency curve for 160W would only be 1.6W at output. I imagine Panda is running 220/240v and that might be part of it. The rest would be from the difference between reference PCB power delivery vs AIB power delivery.
Your ram is roasting at 96C. I would increase the fan speed a bit more. Always easier to replace a fan than RMA a dead card. Im waiting other cards arrive to see it's a single card problem or the whole giga aorus 5700XT seri memory temp issue. Could someone use Giga 5700XT Aorus post your mem temp for reference please? I don't have the Aorus but I have 6 of the Gaming OC variant. All my memory runs into the 100-110C range if I don't turn up the fan speed. I pulled one apart to make sure it was pasted correctly and make sure the thermal pads were making contact properly. They were, so it's just a power issue with the 5700 XT. If you can get mem voltage down that should help, but try increasing fans to at least 45%. I tried to undervolt with AMD Memory Tweak XL but unsuccessful. I get 92 C after increase fan speed to 1800rpm. What is ur mem temp now?BTW could you post your core/mem/volt/speed and power consumption (both inapp & at wall)? I didn't bother with mem voltage because I was able to get temps down to 90C which I'm OK with because there isn't much thermal cycling. I'm running 1230 core @ about 735 (varies based on silicon lottery), 1780 mem but I BIOS modded the 1550 Hynix straps for tighter timings, I was able to get same MH/s with lower ram speed, 54MH/s at pool end, 105W per Phoenix. I didn't bother to measure at the wall because I was in a hurry to get sustained uptime over profits. The tighter timings allowed me to clock the RAM down to 1780 and still get a good rate. When we get our 3 days of winter here in Los Angeles I'll bump the memory up a bit, but for now this is the best I can get when we have ambient above 90F everyday. So, 57.7 at 83 watts for me ;) Real hashrate with TRM and power at the wall.. 55.8 mhs at 127 watts. Yeah, the real power at wall ranges from 120w watts to 160 watts each gpu with undervolt, which is dependent on the gpu bin, there are good bins and bad bins like everything else that uses silicon. The more gpus the system has, the better to measure, if you put a single gpu, a surplus of watts will make you mad hehe, there is a cable nvidia showed that you can right now measure only the gpu power, red mining panda has a tool quite similar to nvidia, you should check his video that uses it to measure the 5700. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgIg8mC48Bk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgIg8mC48Bk) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saepWEdLfLw Title: Re: Post your 5700XT Power consumption mining ETH Post by: GODLIKEE on September 22, 2020, 03:11:20 PM it hard to find a gigabyte rx 5700 that did do less than 140w from the wall. if you want rx 5700 xt with good power consumption get a Sapphire nitro+ or a pulse.

I do hope in future, not distant, you can buy gpu boards, gpu memories and gpu dies, that will make things much easier and manufactures then won't come with the bs and say "you did something to it and we are not honouring the rma." They put third class capacitors, memory chips and blame users, whathehell. It would have been much better if there were gpu boards right now that can drive a 350 watts gpu die like the 3080, with many memory slots and so on. Can confirm that you can reduce both MVDDCI and MVDDC using AMD Memory Tweak XL by Eliovp. I have 2x MSI RX 5700 Gaming X and they both work fine. So first time you run this tool it will ask you to put your OS into Test mode. Press Yes, then reboot. After reboot, start your miner as usual, then start AMD Mem Tweak. You should now be able to tweak GPU values. The memory voltage control can be found in the lower right corner. Reduce both in small increments (say 25 mV). Then press the V at the bottom to copy the updated values to Powerplay tables and reboot again. After reboot start your miner as usual and monitor. And do write down the original values so you can restore in case things go south. You should see the memory temp dropping in the mining software.
