Title: How do you determine if an altcoin is worth investing in?
Post by: daobingsu on September 21, 2020, 08:36:13 AM
A lot of people have been burned by founders running away with with ICO money. It tarnishes the reputation of cryptocurrencies and I believe we should help educate new investors as soon as possible.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

And what are the red flags that you often see people fall for?

I first of all avoid any ICOs and launch schemes that have been hyped up and turned into scams before. Then, it's quite simple. All I do is just look on a weekly basis whether there are any kind of updates towards their whitepaper-mentioned goals or everything is nothing but words on a digital paper. Check if there's any premine as well and whether the team's description matches reality or not.

By "updates", I mean seeing something unique compared to other projects. Not talking about wallets, websites and block explorers. Theae are nothing but necessary stuff to promote and properly use a cryptocurrency. Komodo's come with Atomic DEX - that is something that shows they truly are working on their goals.

This is what I mainly do to find out whether a project is worthy or not.

I'm more a bounty hunter than investor, but my thought whether to join bounty or not partly comes together with investing.
First thing I look at is the idea of the project. I skip promoting projects, that are connected with health, green energy, something with about farming or growing and exchanges.

Health market is a market that worth billions and billions. I'm very skeptical, that a project which hardcap is around 1 million can really change something. That is why I see no success in it.

Green energy - this might be a good field for investment, but still I dont remember anything that was successful and its core was connected with blockchain.

Farming and growing - I dont think this category need blockchain so much. This is already a fully functional organism and can survive without cryptocurrency. Investing in it? Making a deposit in the bank will bring profit more quickly.

There are so many exchanges already. To stand out an exchange need to do something extra ordinary. New exchanges does not have resources for that, while "old" exchanges altcoins prices are already more or less stable.

You must focus with the team who has been running such ico. in the majority of the exit scam cases that happened in the crypto mostly getting dominated by the icos who have been created by the anonymous team.
Everyone should take a project that being created by the anonymous team as a very high risk project with the possibility to be the scam project anytime.

Just take a look at how yuno, kimchi and so many scam defi have become exit scam projects.
We must learn a lot from there.

The second place should be on the contract audit.

I bet you had never tried to look deeper into this altcoin discussion section.
There is a lot about how to pick the right project to invest with.
But I got tired looking after page 5.  ;D But I promise you, there will be another one which will pop out again. Thanks to necroposters.

Red flags. I have also read one thread recently (damn, why can't I  find them) which talks about a team who doesn't want to show their faces and names.
Their reasons, to stay anonymous mimicking Satoshi. (IIRC, that's the concept of his thread.(
Anyway, that's a red flag already which is just one out of many.

Others have already mentioned the things that I consider when making investments in altcoins that it's also important to look for the team behind every project as well as their continuous development. Every investment is already risky, and it's riskier if you don't know the people behind it that's why I always doubt projects with an anonymous team.

As for red flags, those who just plagiarized their documentation and fake the team behind the project. And people who fall for these scams just need to do enough prior research.

I think it's pretty hard to determine if an altcoin project is worth investing because we are just speculating and every project portray that it can execute the project development including its roadmap and all which is written on every project's whitepaper thats why no one can tell if the project is worth investing or not if you are certain about the team, product and its use-case its all up to you to judge if you are willing to gamble. red flags are visible in most projects and the most common thing is the too good to be true promises, shady team profiles and plagiarized whitepapers.

Here there are a lot of people who have experience in checking projects but I just want to give my experience for your reference.
There are 3 steps to check a project:
1. The Roadmap
- It is probably one of the most important parts of the project.  it should be properly and properly listed.  especially need to be clear about the purpose, not vague.
2. Partner and financial investment funds
-Partner to see if it is a good project or not.  Usually, good projects are partnered with well-known altcoins and funded by many financial investment funds.
3. Community
- The community really affects the future of the project a lot.  If the project has a large community on social networking sites and is always fomo by sharks in telegram channels, that is a very good sign.  DIA is the most recent example.

Red flags? Moderated ANN Thread. Newbie OP.
If you see a lot of deleted post, better leave that thread already.
I usually check Scam Accusation board for any ongoing investigation about a certain project, regardless if it is an ICO, IEO, STO, if any.
When there ain't single Scam Accusation, I just tread around the site of the project itself. Check the domain registration date. Check the Github repositories if such progress is being made, if there's any.

To be honest for me there are too many projects coming out every day to keep track of all of them.
I am also no IT-guy so i can't look into the code of a project or such things.
I am part of an investment pool group in telegram and whenever a project is discussed there or wanted for a pool i look into it and maybe participate in the pool.
I look up the team members and just decide for myself if their project has a real use case or not.

Red flags are sometimes given to projects that don't keep their promises or are prone to scams. however, I just think that the old, popular altcoins are the right ones when you want to hold altcoins for the long term. however, there is no guarantee that the new coin will last for the very long term. determining that a coin is worth holding is when it continues to evolve with the latest developments in the crypto world and remains in the midst of the competition that exists today.
This forum can help in determining scams if we're not sure whether they are good to invest with as some were willing to do analysis or give opinions about them, our experiences can also help in analysing the market potential, the project and the teams dedication in doing that project. Sometimes reading there whitepaper isn't enough or joining their telegram. Whenever I'm not sure if the project I'm eyeing is legit or will success I tend to just wait when it becomes listed than buying in ICO due to past experiences in ICO losing its value once listed.

The red flags mean nothing because many scam projects presented everything perfectly and were not known to be scam until after the scams occurred. Therefore, unless crypto project are open source decentered or there is more than one entity that can control it, it cannot be guaranteed that you will not be scammed.

Finally, if you suspect, even 1%, that you will lose your money due to scam or poor programming specific wallet/app/crypto, do not use it.

With hundreds of coins now being rolled into space it is difficult to find out the one which could genuinely grow multiples times in future for long term. Though Defi projects for now is doing well so if just want to make short term gains then one can buy it but for those looking for longer 3-5 years times horizon difficult this type of coins will continue to grow.

Hey there. I am having similar opinion. Another aspect that makes sense - how team delivers experience. So I always conduct own analysis, evaluating many factors etc. So just wonder whether you are just following any project with innovations.

Not really. There are many criteria I pay attention to as well. And as for solutions I follow - there are only 2 or 3. If you are interested, my latest discovery is hCaptcha. What I am excited by - entirely new approach on industry. Heard of the solution already? A popular and widely discussed one

hCaptcha is designed to solve the most labor intensive problem in machine learning: labeling massive amounts of data in a timely, affordable, and reliable way. More data generally produces better results in training machine learning models. The recent success of deep models has led to increasingly large datasets, almost always with some human review. However, creating large human-reviewed datasets via Mechanical Turk, Figure Eight, etc. is both slow and expensive. hCaptcha allows websites to make money serving this demand while blocking bots and other forms of abuse. Have a look at their website

The coin is as strong as its community. Check all social media accounts they have and try to recognize if the community is the only group of speculators or active users. The speculators will leave the project as soon as the price starts falling down, while the active community doesn´t care much about the price. :)

There isn't a serious check list but there are certain factors I personally consider before investing into an ICO. These are as follows:
 - team, are they well known members of the community
 - how transparent are they about the project, target goals and team
 - the amount raised
 - amount of tokens, and ratio used for public sale
 - transparency around social media accounts and whitepaper
 - rating given by other members
These are some of the things I consider, I might have missed some but that's what comes to mind right now.

And, I think the biggest red flag people tend to fall for is the multiplier, and this goes hand in hand with people thinking that if they invest in an ICO, specially DeF they are guaranteed profit. Of course, this is not the case. Only good projects will make it.

Without any doubt, we can find a single campaign anytime to invest our money. Dfinance and Markaccy are some of them. Why I suggested this campaign, I have my vision but you shouldn't believe in other research. From the best results to research check altcoins discussion. I'm sure you won't miss any projects to research from these sites.

The most important thing is if you catch them in a lie regardless of how small it is, for example if you find out their white paper has been plagiarized and then they give an excuse about it, should you invest in this project? The answer is no, if they have no qualms about stealing the work from other people then most likely they have no qualms at all about stealing your money, so look for any discrepancy between what they say and what they do, this small advice will be enough to disqualify up to 95% of the projects in the market saving you a lot of time and money over the years.

I hate to say it but a huge % of projects are just scams in the Crypto universe so step 1 is try not to get scammed. If you learn step one then do all other stuff that is needed but first is it a scam?

I think the best formula is to keep looking at news and all major happening, if we manage it successfully, it will automatically help us gain. However, if we are unable to do that then we will only end up losing badly. I always do it smoothly through E-Crypto News (https://e-cryptonews.com/), where all is made simpler. It is an ideal Crypto assist for all Crypto Investors in developing profitable cryptocurrency portfolios through the provision of major information. So this helps me stay updated with all happening.

We should active first in reading their platform, search any information about the coin. Conversation in a telegram must help also, take some info those who made this coin, ask some advice to the family of investors.

and not to get scammed means don't invest on them?  :P

but on my end, at first glance you will already see the potential of the project, whether it is for long term or not. maybe it is the experience that taught us how to spot a crap or serious project. also, one easy way to check is that if they have active use case and of course active users of their platform. without application in the market, they will end up in trading and will be dead after few months.

You actually said the answer already. You mentioned that a lot of investors are scammed by the ICOs which is absolutely true. In that being said, my criterria is very simple. If it's new (an ICO, Defi etc), I will pass; if it's old and famous alt or btc, it's a big check. I'm not saying that all alts sprouting nowadays have no value, what I'm only saying is it seems that majority of them are scam thus getting a small chance of earning if you pursue it. If you want to play safe then follow my advice but if you are adventurous and willing to make risks for greater pumps then go ahead. The future of an investor depends on his own actions, good luck :).

When choosing a good coin to invest, we shall always look for the coin's objective and products. As well as the team and the whitepaper. Also, the transparent progress and development of a project should also consider so we may track if the coin has a good use in crypto market.

You have to design first your intention before you spend money. There are two strategies long term investment and short term investment. After you have choose one of them then you can find a coin to store your money. I myself always find a coin who has good community, good feature and has a real use case and I'll choose this coin for long term investment.

But, for short term investment I'll find a coin that is being talked by most people. Like now, DiFe project is being talked by most people, I'll choose one DeFi coin and storing money in it and I always set the target profit that I want. So as when the target profit was achieved I'll find another one and I'll repeat it until the hype is over.

These days the best altcoin you can hold are stable coins like USDT , When market is calm and less volatile you can think about holding some altcoin with a good team , good MPV , etc , but in a bloody market, even the best ones would fall , as they all follow bitcoin chart , I would rather play safe .

I often choose projects that have good, novel, and workable ideas. But what is more important is who runs the project, who are their partners and investors. These standards are used by me when investing in a new project.
For older projects, the source code is the most important. If the source code is not developed or updated, the project is not worth the investment.

You do not really need to "trust" a coin if you do not invest into small tiny brand new things. Do you think I have any worry about investing into bitcoin? Bitcoin is the king of all coins and I do not feel any problem at all when I invest into it. Same goes eth, dash, bnb, ltc and stuff like that because these are already established and good coins so you shouldn't worry about putting your money into them.

If you think about it, dividing money into all these (obviously giving bitcoin the biggest pie) you could actually make sure that you have a very strong portfolio, and if you have a strong portfolio you do not have to do anything new, all you need to do is just wait and eventually these will go up enough to make you quite rich, not bill gates obviously but rich.

If indeed you are not good at determining which projects are worth investing or not, then you should buy coins that are ranked or have high daily volume, because on average such projects will last a long time, such as ETH, BNB, XRP, XLM.

First check the forum and other social media and blogs and estimate the reputation of the project, if someone has raised any serious concerns, suspicion or red flags about the project then just skip it even if it looks good to you because in my experience if even a good project faces fud at the start it is very hard for the project to clear itself so it struggles and mostly if we see scam accusations at the start there is definitely something wrong with the project and it will prove to be a wrong project so stay away.

I am assuming a good project is one that can last a long time, and is not created or increased in a short period of time between 1 to 3 months.
like ETH and other alt that are at the top ranking is a good project, and you don't have to worry about investing in the project.

Nice and in addition to that if it is a bounty coin, I consider the BM too. We know bubbalex is doing great in the bounty side.
I also check the total supply. Then use of the coin and tech.

I think this is not the right way to determine if an altcoin is worth investing in. I think you should focus on what the project is offering. Yes, that team experience and competency is a good basis however, if what they trying to develop is no different with others. I'm afraid that they will not get any investors and their project will eventually fail. Most coins who became successful have offered different and new features.

Mind you that leaving your research for your friend(s) to do is pretty bad when determining an altcoins worth, as an investor, it remains your duty to do your research all by your self (meaning DYOR). Do not for all that BS that there are particular people who are experts/good in research, if you want to invest your money in a coin, do a research on the team, their whitepaper, etc yourself.

That being said, I don't understand the part you said "one needs a whale friend", do you advice investors to search for whales, I don't even think whales make themselves known, it's another terrible advice, novices can fall for scammers who could pretend to be whales if they try to follow this advice.

There are several factors to be considered before investing in an altcoin, and the present trading price is not one of it. You need to dig deep into the tokens, check its product, is it achievable? can it garner intereactions? vibes? Study the trade history, charts etc AND and be sure to buy the rumours and sell the news.

Make a long list of tokens to invest in, and trim it until you find the gem you want to invest on. Always do your own research

It's not 100% guaranty that the developer will not run away even if all the sign that the project and all the people behind them are all legit, because there is no regulatory board or police that will run after those who will run away with people's money, so only invest what you can afford to lose.

Nowadays its hard to determine if the project is legit because scammers are smarter now for their project to look real, thus doing an extensive research is important.

Check the team behind it if they are transparent to their background, its an indication for us if we can trust them by verifying their identity and previous projects.

Projects with potential will make their own way to be known and be succesful.

I also don't recommend advice coming from friends or even if that friend is a whale, they have their own plan when investing and that plan might be in conflict with your own plan, it's better to do your own research and do not rely on some people's research that you are going to adopt,it might work sometimes but it will not work all the time always be in control of your investment.

The most common things that we check on a certain altcoin project, in my opinion would be the project team, the roadmap, and the supporters or social media groups related to the project. But we need to be wary because even if a project has many fans in social media, it does not mean that the project is good. Keep your money safe by investing wisely.

Usually if a coin is really good that means I should be able to find the reason for why it is good quite easily and not have to be convinced. You know those coins, the small specially new ones, you see them when they are at their weakest and people "explain" to you why they are invested into that coin and they try to convince you to believe the same way as well and act like they don't care if you don't.

If a coin is good, I should see why it is good myself and believe it without anyone having to convince me on it or answer my question about bad parts of it, because it shouldn't have any. Doubt is not something you should have, if you doubt a coin that means it is not good, you should love the coin you are investing, you should be shilling for it. Which is why I invest into high level coins only.

You should know that investing in cryptocurrencies is high risk, but if it's about advice then I would only recommend the top coins in the crypto market. In investing there is no guarantee that your money is safe, but at least if you take part in the selection of the top coins then you don't have to worry especially about BTC / ETH.

The most common red flag for the scam project is the plagiarized whitepaper contents, even in only tiny amount of it.
Then, the photos of team member, scam projects often using picture from other's as their team member photos.
Investing in cryptocurrency project requires some time to research on the project. Even if the project is not scam, we won't know if the project will become success or not in the future.

If it's about a new project, I would not think much to invest in that project. I better invest in the other project to analyze the movements because many other altcoins have a good move on the market. But if that is the new project which is a newcomer in the market, that will need more time to find the altcoin to invest.

I only stick to the altcoin, which has good moves before to analyze the moves, and I can decide to invest or wait for more. It is not easy to determine which coins because we will sometimes feel confused to select one or two currencies. Sometimes, our feeling can take part in choosing the coin.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

And what are the red flags that you often see people fall for?
Determining coin potential is based on the ability of that project to show their strength from concrete information such as whitepaper, team info and their experience, good tokenomics and a better marketing. Some of the projects should also show the use cases of their project.

An altcoin project coming from authentic team or someone already associated with some other successful project or a project by an experienced person always gets the attention even before the launch. And most of the media outlets in this niche start righting about it. So if you are active and stay updated with what is happening you cannot miss out and you will find the right project before the masses get to know about it.

It's very easy to make money when the market is growing. When bitcoin moves up, it is followed by all altcoins, regardless of whether they are valuable or not. In this case, it is very easy to get a profit. But when the price of bitcoin falls, it is very difficult to choose a promising altcoin, because they are no different from others.

fall of the price does not affect the real value of the coin but fall of the price is a plus point to us to purchase those real valueable coins .

Right now, I think the best is to keep your money in cash, bitcoin is falling and taking altcoin down with itself, it is not just bitcoin, the global economy is failing somehow because of the corona, and it has affection on bitcoin.
why not keep money in stable coins instead of cashing them out since you are already in here on crypto but those that who keep in cash are mostly people that are not involved in crypto  . the effect of corona to btc is already over  , now btc falls and i dont think corona is still responsible for it   .

An investor who is more focused on the updates of the potential project he is going to invest is more likely not to be scammed. But if you just put your money because the project seems to be authentic and has high potentials to succeed without even researching the team behind the project, then scamming usually happened. Even red flags nowadays are not reliable because scam projects usually look perfect in the eyes of their target invetors.

The extra or unique features that are not available in other projects always give an extra edge. Secondly you have to keep in mind the market and how effectively the coin has the capability to create its demand and market. If the project and team fulfills these criteria then definitely it is worth investing project.

There are many ways you can determine if altcoin worth such investment.
1) personal research: Whith the research you carry out by yourself in altcoin platform can help you easily to know the right exchange to enback with that will bring you a great profit in return.
2) Environment : Before  you enback with any bounty campaign, the way they carry out their campaign in the forum can make you have in interest in their bounty campaign.
3)information : with the information you gather in th altcoin discussion can help you to know the altcoin that is good to invest in the time of investment. It can also help you to determine the right project to use.

My advice is to avoid investing in ICO projects, because until now 99% of ICO projects are scams. If you want to invest in new projects,
you can choose IEO or DeFi projects. If you want to invest in IEO projects you can choose popular and trusted exchanges such as Binance,
KuCoin and Okex. For DeFi investment there are no specific criteria, just my advice is not to invest in large amounts, because DeFi price
movements are very difficult to predict. So it can pump and dump suddenly.

Thats why I prefer the old coins, because they survive regardless if the market is in bullish or bearish status.

The best way to determine if the coin is worth investing is to always to have deep knowledge about the project. Do a personal research and don't be influenced by hype created by others. Check the team running it if they have good track records on their previous projects. Also know the development of their product or services if they have a very good development plan in the future. The way they manage their community is also very important for an investor to consider.

Of course you will check first the background of that altcoin you choose  to invest with. Second, it is a big factor to consider the developer background and how appreciably economical the products of that altcoin are. I'll bet that every altcoin has the ability to become productive but then all of that success were depends upon how successful the background of that crypto was and depends also upon the developer.

old coins are safer, especially for the long term. but that does not rule out new coins also have potential. but it would be better to use it for a short period of time. I sometimes get attracted to new projects for just day trading to take advantage of the hype that often occurs in the new coin market. it's fun to get profits in a short time and the important thing is not to play too long. after the profit then immediately quit the game .

Other than that you have to check the usual things like use cases, team experience and competency plus whats newer and better this project is coming up with and finally your gut feeling. But do remember you can still lose so keep in mind it is a risky world.

You will also check it's team members and developers if their pieces of information are legitimate and active to develop their coin to make it promising or successful in the long-term, just like top altcoins in the market. You can also see in this forum that some crypto experts are suggesting good altcoins to invest your money with.

I have been a victim of fake projects in the early days of my crypto adventure. I have learnt my lessons. Before considering doing anything with any new projects either for investment or promotion, I will have to put the following factors into consideration:

1. I will check their website and their whitepaper for grammatical mistakes and I will also check if the website is highly professional.

2. Check if the project is viable and the economic important

3. Check for their competitors  and what they are offering to beat their competitors

4. The strength of the team: In this aspect, I will research the team members one after the other to know much about them and their professionalism

5. I will also check what they have been doing before now from their roadmap.

6. I will check for reputable partners and I will ascertain if the partnership is genuine.

7. I will check if the project has good social media communities for useful engagement of its community.

8. Check their total supply

To invest in altcoins, you need to know what function it performs.  If this is a project token, then this project must be in the information space.  I think these are the main parameters.

Our minds are changing all the time, before and after success a project. That's why legitimate projects should have included a strong team. Those who are caught in a project scam basically they also do their own research but as we know, even research is still not enough for us to avoid a sweet promise that comes from a scam project. So I think it is difficult to avoid a scam project, because several times I even come across projects that are even done by trusted people, but that still doesn't guarantee the project will be good in the future. Getting a quality project of course with a research still requires a lucky factor as well, and I'm only seeing what I've found and experienced so far, because some successful investors have had good luck even though all of them do their research first.
This is indeed quite complex and complicated. You are right, even people who have done the analysis can be trapped by a scam, this is proof that the crypto world is full of unpredictable things. Luck also plays a big role, even projects that previously doubted could be a big success in the future, some have continued success, some are temporary, such as a coin pump and dump.

Then, how do you judge whether the project is worth investing in or not? 1) I see the products made, 2) the activity of the team in informing the project, at least there is progress reported every week, 3) supporting partners.
The thing that is no less important is that we have to update information, news, roadmaps, etc. The point is that we really understand what we are going to invest in order to get the right timing. Understand that everything has risks.

If cryptocurrency is mostly unpredictable in terms of their prices in the market due to its volatility, perhaps the same goes for investing in any of the coins in the market as well. Therefore, to find out if it is good or not is too hard to trace so far. Even you check their background it wouldn't be easy to determine if it is worth to invest instead it still remains questionable of course due to it was money involved.

You have to create a unique ways of finding a project as a worthy of your money, In my case I mostly do research about it and also ask other people about the specific project.

If the team developer is well active in cryptocurrency and they really exist, mostly they are good to work with. Also, if the new project offers a new product or services in the market and not just the same of many scam project. I look at older projects to invest it which have matured and have a working product. Loon at their initial white paper , look at the team and see if they kept their promises and developed the projects. That would give you a good indicator.

Many says that it is the roadmap of the project that matters. But in reality, it is based on how well the team is complying to their roadmaps. Because most of the projects are showing good roadmap but as the time passes, they didn't work for the roadmap to happen. When they see that they reached their cap, they rugged and leave investors in the air with nothing.

So for me, I can say that an altcoin is worth investing in if I see it having a working team dedicated to make the project better by seeing them actively listing in exchanges, having partnerships with other projects and conducting AMA for the project. This way, you can trust the project as they are showing how well they really care for their roadmap to succeed not just those projects that aims to collect ETH.

In my opinion, before investing in any altcoin I consider the activities of the team, the use cases of such projects and find out if they are following their road maps. When all these are in place I go ahead to invest. For instance I invested in #Bluzelle recently after following their activities, I noticed their mainnet was launched and staking began  when they promised to and the price of #Blz is growing organically not pump and dump. These are some good signs of a good project.

I understand that #1. If you see a written website or whitepaper that isn't professionally made and written, that's already a sign and there's no need to waste energy looking at other factors.

But you are right that for some reasons, many are well written and good in grammars and well-made websites, it should be another factor then.

My analytical skills are not very good, so I decide which altcoins to invest in based on popularity and volume coins. From these two things,
it can be concluded that the altcoins are quite feasible for investment or not, if you are not sure you can see the social media, if the developer
team is still active. This is an indication that the altcoins are very potential for investment. Another thing you can consider whether or not
altcoins are worth investing in, is that they are listed on popular exchanges or not. If it turns out that the coins are listed on popular exchanges,
it is likely that the coins are profitable.

i would say  in my opinion the best way is to research about the project , check the activities  of the team and be sure they are developing the project constantly and  following their timeline.

Like me ,  I  saw  #Bluzelle, joined their social media and bought some $BLZ recently after carrying out  due research and seeing the huge potential of the project. Right now  it has  become the best decision i have made this year.

so make sure you follow any project you wish to invest in  for a while in their social media platforms and ask some technical questions the way they respond may  also determine the quality of the project and team behind it.

I hate to say it but a huge % of projects are just scams in the Crypto universe so step 1 is try not to get scammed. If you learn step one then do all other stuff that is needed but first is it a scam?
Doing our best to not get scammed should be not only the first step it should always be on the back of your mind whenever you are thinking about investing in new projects, the truth is that with so many scams in the market it is important to always keep ourselves in check and if even the smallest thing seems out of place then we need to restrain ourselves from investing in a new project, it is true that this kind of thinking will prevent you from investing in some coins that could pump but you must remember that once you lose your money everything is over and you get no second chances, so the most important ability that any investor should have is to take care of their money no matter what.

Investing on a coin only after it get listed on the reputed exchange is much safer in terms of capital loss, but lot of people like to invest on the presale itself for getting it cheaper but the fact is it won't work 9 out of 10 times. And you got the point the volume does a lot more matter compared to price of a coin or token to identify whether it is worth to invest or not.

No need to wait for the exchange listing because Telegram has been "approved" as a marketplace for pre-sale tokens. If the project delay the listing and investors are tired of the exchange promises, they announce the cheap price in social media groups. Who guaranteed the token price will be dumped or pumped after the first listing day? It is gambling not trading or investing.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

And what are the red flags that you often see people fall for?
Well, while we give pieces of advice here, it should be sounded clearly that each user will make contributions to this topic based on how it affects them. For me, the first red flag would be never to invest in ICOs. Quite alright, I know a lot of projects may think my advice is a spoiler for them but I write from an experience of hurt which I don't intend to repeat. Secondly, if you must invest in ICOs, then research the project to make sure it has utility and not hype. Hypes fade but utility sustains a project. Take your time to trail a project for as long as you can to get satisfaction before investing.

Farming and growing - I dont think this category need blockchain so much. This is already a fully functional organism and can survive without cryptocurrency. Investing in it? Making a deposit in the bank will bring profit more quickly.
Definitely, going by that, you would have missed out on certain great projects. Did you check Harvest Finance (FARM)?

8. Check their total supply
This is a nice point to take seriously. The total supply gives you a rough idea of what price range to expect, either for entry or profit.

ICO can not attract investors anymore. IEO took the place and its a confirmation of listing. But we should be careful when choosing a project to invest in. Check token supply, their activity in social media, token use case, and development plans in their roadmap and check out for team members. Also, check their whitepaper too. If all are legit then that project can be a good one.
After checking everything, still some bounty can be a scam. That is the reason I follow only partnership. Big or legit projects must have some good partnership. By taking some time roadmap, white paper or team members, all can be made without partnership. By this process you can invest in some ICO, although IEO can't better option all the time.

Don't use social media as a marketplace platform where most of them you are seeing are going to be scammers. And why someone should buy a token from random person which doesn't have any value, it is okay to buy on the presale or public sale but never buy a token which public sale already ended and waiting to be listed on exchanges for a while.

I often consider various factors to invest in a project. If it was a new project, I would review their ideas, the project's team, their partners, the ICO plan, token allocation, and the community's response to the project to review the short-term investments.
If it's an old project, we need to see the source code, just good source code and they have a product then people will need the project's token.

I don't invest most of the time in altcoins because I'm heavily invested into Bitcoin.
I bought some altcoins already like ETH and Litecoin etc. and I have only two bases whether it is worth investing or not.

One is how long the altcoin has been there already. I mean is that if an altcoin is there for a long time already, it has many developments already and it is trusted by many people so there is very low to no chance that the coin will drop to zero or at least will become a scam coin in the future.

Another basis that I'm using although this isn't important is if the altcoin is eligible for staking or not. I often hold altcoins for years and staking will give me at least some profits while holding it. Its like dividends in the stock market :D.

The problem is that many people are looking to make profits with a capital that is simply too small and they are trying to do everything in their power to earn a lot of money, this means that they will take the risk of buying a coin before it hits a reputable exchange and while sometimes this can pay out great dividends the truth is that for the most part anyone that does something like that will lose money, and the worst part of all of this is that instead of learning from this mistake those people will begin to blame the market when this is clearly their own fault.

Investing into most of the altcoins is much more risky but that's fine if you are a risk taker, but if not better to invest into top most popular coin like Ethereum, Bitcoin, Link, Bnb, Busd, Kcs and Xrp because these are most likely worth to invest if you here on cryptocurrency business industry, just a thought.

There are a handful of checklists on how to choose a credible project, but be mindful of the fact that there's no guaranteed approach. Some projects still find a way to pass on these several checklist and are not credible.

One of the most important factor to consider is the whitepaper of the project. You need to be certain that the whitepaper wasn't plagiarised, because most mischievous projects don't go through the hurdles of getting a whitepaper, they just copy the information from different projects.

Another factor to consider is the social media handles of the team. The team members LinkedIn profile should be reviewed and the posts and articles written in the past should be reviewed. If the profile is recently created, that could be a red flag.

But that said, staking coins also need to have a solid plan because staking of coins often brings the price for the coin down so you have to be very careful, I mean if the value of the coin decreases by 10% and you earn like 8% staking rewards per year then you are actually in loss while you have more coins but the value of the coins is actually low. This has happened with me a lot of times where I believe I have more coins than before but the actual value was actually going down.

One is how long the altcoin has been there already. I mean is that if an altcoin is there for a long time already, it has many developments already and it is trusted by many people so there is very low to no chance that the coin will drop to zero or at least will become a scam coin in the future.
Right but the problem is these coins will never jump too high being so long in the market they have a solid market cap and even if a massive development or work is done around the coin still the price will only increase by a slight margin. But yes the price won't go down either like you mentioned so it is for people who want to invest safe.

Along with the points you mentioned I always check the previous record for the core team members because while big names usually bring success to any project but having a past record with successful projects gives me a better idea of their planning and how they approach development. They can make as many promises they want but the actual work which is development on the given plan is the key and that requires some past experience or at least knowledge and the right developers and people around the project.

Like Gavin Wood is a known name and brings success where ever he goes so a project like Polkadot might be a good option and I trust such projects.

In my opinion, the most important thing in any project is technology. The more modern and future-oriented it is, the higher the likelihood that this coin will have opportunities for good growth, as it will be in demand in the market.
Try to look for projects that solve specific issues and are aimed at solving specific problems. Unique projects that solve unique problems.

Unfortunately, most projects can create good whitepapers stating their advanced technology. But the common problem among them is the actual implementation. For me, it is better to invest on an alt with existing application, where the technology is already being used in the market. And the bonus part is - if they have active users already. If those are being met, for sure, the project will survive as they have demand in the market already.

It is the most difficult part of investing in this space. If one follow the so called expert opinion every time in investment you can still be scammed, experts will still blame for following blindly with doing your own research. Most times I start from the expert opinion to doing my own research, looking for weakness in their choicest projects. My focus is mainly on the team and Idea, If I dont find a reliable used case and also unfollow any previous failed idea

Of course, nothing could be said for sure in this room due to its volatility. We can choose the top 10 coin or token based on the ranking in CMC, but still have some risk. Making the right choice in crypto is difficult, but in the long run I would prefer bitcoin if I wanted to invest large amount. Bitcoin is the right investment choice for all investors in the long term and can also be used by day trader to seek a small profit. The trading feature at that time was very helpful for day trader even though price were down.

It's not fair to say that all new projects are bad because some of them are still pretty good as option, but in fact many DeFi project that were successful before have fallen by 90%. In the long run, I think DeFi is no different from ICO and IEO because they cannot sustain their market price in the long term. Defi investor only want immediate profit and they won't wait any longer for a higher ROI.

You're right but its not easy to find a legit project with such aim or purpose. Scammers are also doing their best for their project to look real so they can fool investors.

For new projects, its best to look for the whitepaper, roadmap and their team, they should be transparent. The working product is whats important because the success of the project are partly depends here.

Moreover, the crypto world is very difficult to predict, even for experienced people. Things can change quickly just because of certain rumours or issues. Sometimes a project that is dubious at first can give you a nice surprise one day, and vice versa.
Now that Defi is indeed popular, the success of previous projects has made people competing to get the opportunity offered, without thinking about whether this is really legit or not. It is true, investors seem to be using this opportunity to make quick profits, not good enough in the long run, which is why many defi projects are in freefall.

At least, even though it is difficult to predict, we must have a strategy and a strong basis for analysis so that we are not easily caught in the trap of fraudsters. I also often learn analysis from experienced people or trusted channels, and most importantly we understand the risks.

I am determined by the "JUR" project. Any projects can be successful by their hard work. We should support the legit team and some big partnerships. Now I am determined by the confirmation of the top exchange lists. We have so many opportunities if we buy from the exchange because of volume, liquidity pool and the real supply.

Most people avoid ICOs since they hype died last 2017. Only a number of ICOs hardly make it since that time, most turned up to be a scam, and a lot of ICOs failed due to investors losing faith on ICOs.

The best thing to do if ever you will invest in any crypto, whatever what form it is, is to review the white paper, check the team behind it, make sure it is not promising too good to be true returns or achievable goals in a short span of time.

If you are new to investment I suggest you to invest in bitcoin. You know that cryptocurrency is very volatile in terms of market price and is also unpredictable even if you were able to join a good project still it will not be a guarantee for you to earn. Most of the team promise good return or profits but it will not going to happen. This is the usual scenario and all your funds will going to lose andyou just will going to wonder why.

Most likely team bringing up projects are greedy that instead of using funds to implement the project they run away and get the funds.

A project worth investing in should consider the technology factor and the parts they do. I usually choose projects that have stable source code and are updated regularly. Just looking at the source code we can see the project leadership team working.
New projects have a high level of risk because they are often overly exaggerated for their value.
For me, value comes from products, not beliefs. Currently, most ICOs and IEOs are high-risk investments.

You can detect if a project is worth investing money on by doing research the right way, many don't know how to do research the right way, they only check the availability of the team, roadmap and whitepaper, forget road map and whitepaper and look more into the team themselves, not all CEO and CTO are qualified to lead a new crypto project, make sure their experience are top notch.

I think there are so many things t look out for to know if an altcoin is worth investing in, one of such is the developer, before investing in a project, we must check the history of the developer and see if there is any criminal record, we must also pay attention to the experience of the team behind the project, we also need to look out for the advisor to see if he or she has got enough experience to lead a project to the promised land, also take a look at the whitepaper of the project, look at the roap map and lastly, check if the project will be useful to the community.

Strange question. How do you determine if whatever is worth investing in? You can't really tell for sure, and what you may think is solid as a rock may prove to be a scam. Even if it seems like everything is going great for a while, devs can stop supporting the project and all of a sudden the project is dead.

There is nothing you could have a certain prove on to be sure the bounty or ICO is going to be a successful one. Many people use to depend on the roadmap but scam bounties plagiarize it too to bring fake project to you. Some many aspect to deceive people, and that is the unfortunate thing about the bounty.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

Here is my checklist of the things I look for to derermine if a coin is worth investing in:

1.  Practicality of the product.
2.  Capability of the development team
3.  Licenses and Registrations
4.  Partners.
5.  Marketing capability

And what are the red flags that you often see people fall for?

People often fall for the "get rich quick scheme".  Many projects promised a good return making investors to flock in to their project.  Another thing is too much hype and shillings about the project.   This tend the investors to get excited and forget about being rational.

Since you are newbie my recommendation is very simply do not invest in any ico or coin that has less than two years on the market, with that simple rule you will avoid 90% of the scams in this market, now I know what you are thinking, you are thinking about all the money that you are not going to get but instead you should think about all the money that now you are not going to lose, only once you have been in this market for at least one year you can think on investing on those coins otherwise stay away from them.

It will be a long time before blockchian technology can benefit our lives.
So at the moment it's best to invest in an ICO with a good development team

There are many criteria to be able to evaluate a project, but when deciding to invest in an ICO I think should pay attention to the development team of the project. It is the development team that determines the success of the project, they are also the ones who give the advertising tactics and project roadmap.

if the project runs the roadmap and their team does exist, then I guarantee that the altcoins are worth investing in,this a first,
and second, is reading charts, even though you invest in good project, and you don't read chart analysis, then you will get stuck in it,

Try investing to a project that has already proved themselves in the market that somehow had developed products but is still not costly. How cheap is something you'd be considering though. A coin worth $3 still is cheap but for some, it's already a high price coin. Check the coinmarketcap for some coins with less price, there is ADA which is just $0.10 and Vechain seem to be the cheapest. These two tokens have about millions to billions of trading volume.

I think the best way to go about it is to make a research on the so called altcoins. You don't have to go into what you have little or no knowledge about. If it's me, I will do my homework very well and also consider the risk if it's worth taking. There are some altcoins that has a record of mooning anytime, and that looks good that someone can actually invest into.

Before trading in the stock market, you should learn to read charts. The chart of an altcoin gives enough information about whether that coin is worth investing in. Investing without looking at the chart is like gambling.

Well if you still new here maybe you should play safe. Just put your money on ETH or BTC. Its way more safe dont take any risk. Its hard to determine the project legit or not. Even when we already do research there is a possibilty the project turn into fraud. So, just play safe for a while.
Of the two coins that you mentioned, I prefer to keep my assets completely in bitcoin because I really believe the price of bitcoin will be very expensive because of the influence of an already depleting supply and it will be increasingly difficult to get bitcoin so that it can have a strong influence on the price of bitcoin.

There are many criteria to be able to evaluate a project, but when deciding to invest in an ICO I think should pay attention to the development team of the project. It is the development team that determines the success of the project, they are also the ones who give the advertising tactics and project roadmap.
Also the past experience of the team's core members as they need to have some experience before they can execute those big plans. I have seen many tokens like Flux token (flux.fund if I remember it correct) was one project which felt like really good but it died without any development because the team was too inexperienced to handle such a project and the owners despite having a good plan and I felt like they had the right intentions too but they never were able to execute maybe solely because of their inexperience.

I like projects where an experience team is working if even they are lazy they at least have experience behind them which will automatically enable success once they all come together.

For me, There are some things before i investing on trade an altcoin. If for short term i just see Price History 7 days before and the sell & buy wall but for long term we need to do deeper research. First maybe people behind it if that has strong experience, ROI from ICO/IEO/STO Price, Platform/Ecosystem or any development progress and patnership, Basically there the other factor too but for me it's the most important especially for investing for long term, Do you guys have any other advice?

First and fore most. Learn about investing. make sure you upgrade yourself with the fundamentals of investments. there are ups and down. when it comes to crypto, do your own research. also learn the basics of trading and investments in cryptocurrency. most New starts ups are hungry to make money and not to build a solid project. the most important aspect of investing in any crypto currency is invest in what you can loose.

There are lots of factors to consider what is important is you are doing your research and you trust your own assessments, there's no accurate outcomes as crypto mostly relied with speculations, your own observations and your own decision are very important during the period of your investment.

Keep being opened with any changes and plan your position from time to time, always have a sets of back up plans in case you read the situation wrong and things is not favoring your investment.

Yeah, lot of scam ICO projects were causing bad image on investors and people who came into cryptocurrency world.
I think we can't determine the coin if it is worth to invest or not unless we are really know about the coin project.
This should require our time to research toward the project of the coin.

there is a simple way if an altcoins is worth investing my friend,
for me if an altcoins listed in the TOP 100 coins at coinmarketcap, the coins is worth investing
but maybe not for a risk taker the coins, because a risk taker will find a cheap coins with huge potential to grow in the future

Most times, it is deeper than we think and most times it also requires simple understanding. As for the first, there are projects which will succeed in listing and then the team will exit scam; you see unlike others that do not list, these ones succeeds in listing and yet exited scam, thus it was planned. On the other hand, is hype and nothing more, it is what has dealt with a good number of people; a clear case is the recent DeFi projects, where most people knows that some of the projects have nothing to offer but yet gets blinded by hype that they didn't pay attention.
So what I can say from all these is, in any project monitor the team even if you are holding for long term or short term and once things starts getting weird, sell offf immediately. Also, make your due diligence about most projects which do not have appropriate use cases, you will be surprised that they have bad motives.

I think it is better you invest your money in a project you really understand than the one you don't know or have any idea. Many people lost their money for new project they heard from other investors that make them not to do their personal research before carry out the business that collapse their business till now.

Now you shouldn't pay any attention to cryptocurrency companies that conduct ICOs, because most companies are just scammers and they will only steal your money, so you should invest only in IEOs on top cryptocurrency exchanges like binance, and then you will not have to be afraid of losing your investments and will you can start receive income from your investments in IEOs.

This is from my experience, whether or not altcoins are worthy of our investment seen from the roadmap,
if the project runs the roadmap and their team does exist, then I guarantee that the altcoins are worth investing in,this a first,
and second, is reading charts, even though you invest in good project, and you don't read chart analysis, then you will get stuck in it,
yeah, there are 2 important things, hope you understand
I can show you projects with great Roadmap, vision and it almost seemed like this is going to be the next big thing but the token value fell apart because of some suspicious reasons which I believe are:

1- Spending too much tokens in bounty and the bounty hunters will never let the token grow.
2- OTC deals being done so much that the coin is basically dust and no matter how much work is done it won't lift itself.
3- Developer funds allocated being used as soon as the token got listed.

I really stopped investing in ICOs lately but if even I do at times when I am too tempted I don't invest much and try to earn some free tokens by working for them.

While it is true there are many steps that can be taken to determine if a project is good or not in my opinion the first question you should ask yourself is if the people behind the project are scammer or not?  That is the most important question so you need to check if they are who they say the are and if their credentials are what they claim to be, then check the project itself and see if it is legitimate, not surprisingly most projects do not pass this simple test and over the long run it will save you a lot of time and money.

Actually, no one can know if the altcoin is worth to be invested or not, unless they really know about the coin.
To know more about the coin, we must take some time to looking for the project on the coin, no other way.
The specs of coin, the team behind the coin, the project planning, etc which we can find it usually in the whitepaper.

the progress and development of the coins they are promoting it and the demand is quite good I could say it is one of the good investment based on my experienced.

Analyzing the available data is a must for investors. The first thing that must be on the checklist is the team and developer profiles that can be seen publicly and are valid. This is very important to avoid fraud.

Then the second is the progress of the project. If the team and developers are not very active in developing the project, then chances are they are planning something that could be outside the roadmap.

to avoid losing your investment you have to choose well which ico to bet on and to do this you have to do your own research to see if the team proposing the ico has already done other previous ico, if yes, if they have been successful and if they have technical skills in the proposed sector and if the basic idea is valid

What about trying to invest in something that has already been proved trustworthy and has proven themselves in the market, has good performance, good community and also has good price that you can really consider buying. If you have good investment money then you can try to invest in some coins that are worth less than 10 dollars. But if you don't have that kind of investment money then buy the cheaper ones but the ones in the top cryptocurrencies so it would not be a hassle for you when it comes to making trading decisions.

Initially, the ICO tarnished its identity as developers fled investors’ money. That’s the risk if you invest in a brand new altcoin. But it’s legitimate to invest in a new brand of altcoin, although the risk of losing it is huge. You know it and you’ve committed to it. Maybe the risk of loss is not that cruel it that if you’re investing in an old altcoin like eth, or xrp. Even bitcoin. This is more recommended. Because time has tested them to date.
Of course, investment in the coins I mentioned above is equally risky. Because crypto is too bumpy. But for its high popularity, it can be said to be safe if investing in the above coins.

coins that have been on the market for a long time and are gaining popularity is not easy. they persist in market conditions and platform development for quite a long time. it took a long time to build market confidence in the assets you now see in the top markets. Compared to a new project, of course, there will be very different risks that we have to take.

if you are a new investor then you can take a choice in the list of top coins listed on the CMC site. You can select some of the top altcoins and don't forget to research them again before putting money in them. I suggest prioritizing BTC and some of the top altcoins like ETH, BNB, LTC or LINK. for me this is very worth investing in. This is just a suggestion, you can reconsider before making a decision.

Majority of new crypto projects have teams that know too less about crypto and blockchain but for the fact that crypto have huge money pumping into the system almost everyone wants to take their shot, you need to watch out for the team qualifications first and followed by their connections like partnerships, these are very very important before the project use case.

Before participating in any ICO, it is worth knowing the structure: goals, objectives, solutions, white paper, roadmap, listing of a token / coin on major exchanges, possible applicability, the project team, and in the end the profitability of the project for the investor ... If some elements are missing, do not inspire confidence, loud statements about excess profits, lack of a platform - you should think about participating in such an ICO, and it is better to study another.

danger sign? maybe like Trends. Like the case of Trends Defi recently which attracted public attention, especially for project investors. The Hype Defi has yielded good returns for short-term investments. But if you don't like a high investment risk appetite then it's better to invest only in top altcoins, like BNB & ETH.

I believe what the OP is referring to are ICO startups.

To OP, I always check first the team behind the project, if they are legitimate. If I have to look through their LinkedIn, I will do just to ensure that I'm investing my money in the right people. Second, the whitepaper, and the roadmap, not plagiarized and realistic and can be achieved with the time frame they stated.

you know what ? that is what i'm doing right now. i agree with your statement. also, investing in ico will not guarantee us with a successful project in the end. our profit is still not clear from investing in ICO. maybe all we get is a full loss if the project become a scam one in the end.
i don't suggest to joining some ICO with the hype projects/ideas. because scammer will run the same projects and scamming all the investors. i also agree, if you want to invest just follow some experts or people who experienced investors, because i believe they will know the characteristic a good ico and the legit one.

I prefer to go in and invest in projects that are under development. This has less risk than a project that is new and doesn't have any.
The project that is being developed has many advantages, and the data being analyzed is more complete. This data is progressive because updates from the team will be our benchmark for how much potential the project is.
Here's a checklist that must pass
  • Team & developer profiles
  • logical business model
  • regular periodic updates
  • constructive discussion on any platform
  • talk about projects, not money or exchanges

It is actually very simple. Just check whether that particular altcoin is having any real life usage or not. For example, Tron (TRX) was supposed to build a decentralized platform to facilitate easy sharing of copy-righted digital content (mostly in the entertainment industry). During the initial days, there was a lot of hype regarding TRX, and the market cap reached $18 billion. However, the plans for the platform never materialized, and as a result the exchange rates went down by more than 90% during 2019-20.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

And what are the red flags that you often see people fall for?
first check the ratio how much coin they sell, inflation, total coin in circulation, time vesting, and many more about spec coin itself

if they promising listing price definetly red flags.

check roadmap, whitepaper, team behind it.

look structure their announcement, website, other information...

usually a pre-sale and bonus reward that will be given to the founder of ICO or new tokens offered to investors that make them interested. although not sure which exchange will be launched to? even if there is already a list of exchanges such as probit, there are already many enthusiasts. even though we know, tokens that are launched there are bound to end up a little bad. i think a good sign is tokens that are launched to etherdelta or forkdelta. even now many tokens create their own exchanges and many fail. if you are still in doubt about new tokens or projects, if you have large capital just invest in bitcoin or etherum.

We can't predict the reality of the altcoin market. In anytime the coin could grow high as well as fall low in value. It is always good to invest on altcoins that have got a minimum viable product backing. Altcoins backed by large networks that are already well established in the global market. For example BTT which was the product of torrent have already known and the early investors gained good return within weeks.

The team, their vision, their future plans and how flexible and quick response on any issues are some of the factors that also help you to analyse about the coin. This will give you some brief idea and what is the use of coin in future and if it can solve any purpose then it will have a good future demand and value as well.
That's correct, those things we always need to consider in determining whether a project is worth investing or not. So we must look for some projects doing things better, differently, or that are rather complicated so it’s not easily replicated. It is also advisable to follow always their updates on their social media channels.

I generally play safe. Investing on a currency that have been tested and is performing well, preferably when they are down. I also try to be first to transact depending on the news, it generally works. I also never miss out opportunities like hard fork to create new coins like BCH is going to have around November 15. When investing in entirely new coin, I look for people and business that are backing the project. The ones that are backed by established people and business are likely to succeed.

Finding good altcoins is depends to you on how you research and think to the coin but mostly here at this forum you will see the coin that recommended of the user and you will get an idea of what coin you will investing.

In my opinion to see altcoins worth investing in one has to study their uses and benefits because that is what differentiates them from other coins and allows us to see their underlying value and read white papers about them. In addition, sometimes many people get stuck with bad altcoins because they are tempted by the offers offered without going into more detail about the altcoins they want to invest in. therefore before wanting to invest in altcoins, especially new altcoins, first study them in detail

Some ICO's really execute their scam you wouldn't know that they're scam since they have good whitepaper and everything is really good.

Nowadays ICOs,IEOs,DEFI etc are scamming peoples money very easily .Though people can make good profit from good projects very fast but nowadays it is very hard to find out which is legit or scam .
So if anyone want to invest money into crypto then i would suggest to buy Bitcoin,Ethereum or any good reputated coin .

A lot of people have been burned by founders running away with with ICO money. It tarnishes the reputation of cryptocurrencies and I believe we should help educate new investors as soon as possible.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

And what are the red flags that you often see people fall for?
first check the ratio how much coin they sell, inflation, total coin in circulation, time vesting, and many more about spec coin itself

if they promising listing price definetly red flags.

check roadmap, whitepaper, team behind it.

look structure their announcement, website, other information...

New projects never wanted to announce the selling amount of tokens. Total circulating supply is also unavailable to see, same with maximum supply. Without the top exchange partnership or real life partnership, I can't trust any new altcoins to invest. Or I can invest during the dump price. Own coins I also prefer to invest in, before success this is the top priority.

To determine if an altcoin is worth investing you have to put some time to review if they have a good track records and on how they ran and show their skills. And lastly, put effort to know who's behind the said project and if they we're really trustworthy to invest with.

There are several factors to make a coin worth to invest on, but for me the most important thing is the team.
How the team manage the project of the coin is the key to become a success coin.
A good team will have some good strategies to make their coin valuable in the market.

First I will check the projects website if it is properly done or just a piece of crap. Second is their product or application if it is really working or not. Third is the roadmap of the project that will give us hint whether one of those written in there actually is happening or in progress. Fourth is the idea of the project whether it is applicable or useful in the long run. Fifth is the project team of course because through them we can check their capability to do the job done. If you can see that they are active or they are participating community discussions maybe the project is legit but that is not really an assurance whether the project is worth investing in. Just make your own due deligence in choosing the right project to jump in.
The steps that you are mentioning are not wrong however if it was up to me I will put checking the project team above all, after all there are projects that may not be as groundbreaking as some others and yet if they have good developers willing to work for years on the project you will eventually get to see good results, on the other hand even if the idea behind a project is innovative and everything seems in order if the developers are lazy and irresponsible most likely that project will never develop successfully.

Of course, will the project be of high quality and successful when a group of like-minded people donate their personal time to improve, modify and in-depth analysis of the mistakes of the phased creation of the project. Moreover, as you said, the expectation of the investor's result can be encouraged by a team that has worked for many years, or by losing investments from those projects where the developers promised more, but did the work from the promises at least. Either the project is closed at the final stage. The best depends on the focused, hard work of a team that can challenge the challenges that come with a project. You must have to an iron willpower and endurance. But a heavy and debilitating brainstorm brings good results.

I usually make sure that the team behind a certain project or coin is reputable and active. I always make sure that they're trustworthy because they will be the one to handle the developments of an altcoin. It's an advantage if we'll check their background and their history in handling projects. Checking their whitepaper I think wouldn't be enough because some fake and scam projects these days could fake it.

 2. Have a solid team in project development

In the past (especially in 2017), I invested in dozens of altcoins and lost money in almost all of them. One exception is Deep Onion. I was able to sell Onion at a large profit, before it's value went down. My advice to you guys is not to hold on to these altcoins for an indefinite period of time. You need to identify the pumping phase and dump your coins at the correct time. If you miss one, you may need to wait a long time for the next pump.. or it may never happen again.

It depends what the aim of the investor is, sometimes we invest for profits and sometimes we invest for long term investment simply because the project feels reliable enough, for me I'm in because of the profits only, I don't tend to hold for long time, I believe that majority of crypto projects are based on timing, they are profitable when released but as time goes on they lose value, I always take profits every time

I think that is more or less the average experience of most people here with the exception that probably many investors never sold a coin for a price higher than what they paid for, it is important to remember that the strategy of holding for the long term should only be applied in well established coins like bitcoin or ethereum, and when it comes to new coins you need to always be ready to get rid of them because if you do not you could become a bag holder and no one wants that.

whenever you are pondering investing in new projects, you should always try to avoid scams in the market it is critical to consistently hold ourselves within proper limits and on the off chance that even the littlest thing appears to be strange, at that point we have to control ourselves from investing in another project, the facts confirm that this sort of reasoning will keep you from investing in certain coins that could pump however you should recollect that once you lose your cash everything is finished and you get no renewed opportunities, so the main capacity that any investor ought to have is to deal with their cash regardless.

I believe it's really difficult to decide whether an altcoin project merits investing since we are simply speculating and each project depict that it can execute the project development including its guide and all which is composed on each project's whitepaper that is the reason nobody can tell if the project merits investing or not. On the off chance that you are sure about the team, product and its utilization case its everything up to you to pass judgment whether you are willing to gamble or not. warnings are obvious in many projects and the most widely recognized thing is the unrealistic guarantees, obscure team profiles and counterfeited whitepapers.

Title: Re: How do you determine if an altcoin is worth investing in?

Let me start with the red flags:
1. Do not invest in an ICO if the team is not active on social media, especially on Twitter and LinkedIn.
2. If the project does not have an active telegram group or does not respond to questions, please avoid that project.
3. Check members out on professionals media like LinkedIn .
4. If the soft and hard targets set for the projects to meet during ICO is high, avoid it. That is a danger sign.

What I look out for to know if a coin is worth throwing money at or not is the use the token wil serve in th market. Apart from that no token is worth throwing money at.

some scam or legit projects usually have an active socal media in the beginning, but they just disappeared after the ICO end. you can check the legit ones that created in 2017-2018. some of them are inactive now. the same case also goes to telegram group. i agree that we should be careful with the projects that they said their softcap have been reached in the beginning. maybe they just want to interest some investore with the fake softcap.

I think most investors don't believe in ICOs anymore. very difficult to know which project is worth investing in. mostly good at the beginning but after finishing the sale, dump prices in the market, there is no progress of the project then become a worthless coin.

So the thing to pay attention to when holding tokens is to always check the market and other things related to the project. Holding the new coin itself is inevitable due to its cheap price in the hope that it will increase someday, it is something that is in demand for those looking for quick profits. So, I think one of the factors to watch out for if a coin is worth investing in is about coins that have been tradable in famous markets, because then the demand for the coins themselves will always be there.

Not that it is being traded in famous markets, but if they have real usage in the community. Because trading will stop or start to slow down once the interest of traders wane. And the interest will be lost because there is no active application in the market other than trading. So these traders will just move to the new project once the hype is over. So better build real app for the project to maintain its market demand.

You are a newbie and your purpose is an investment, so ICO is not recommended, you should go to the top coin because this is the best way to invest, so you don't need to know what is determine if a coin is worth investing, just go to top coin https://coinmarketcap.com/

The simple answers avoid any ICO

The criteria for the project (Coin) that have a bright future for investing, following their characteristics in my opinion

I sincerely don't see investing in altcoin as a lucrative venture, I prefer the concept of trading. Investing sounds like putting money into a project for periodic interest and that's not what I'll like to engage on because the cryptocurrency industry is quite risky and I'll rather purchase a few coins with the intention of selling when the value changes positively.

First and foremost that you need to take a look is the composition of the team developers whether they already have accomplished plenty crypto project or not because it is really essential to an investor to know the people behind the project in order to fall into a trap of several project developer that turns to be scammers. You really need to research deeply about the profile of each member of the team it will helps you decide easily if you wanted to invest on this alts or not.

I only look at established coins which have a good sized user base and are accepted by several businesses. I don't do any trading on exchanges so I only go with what is most useful to me. If something has fewer transactions than Dogecoin it is not worth my time because nobody is using it. The one exception might be privacy coins because there will always be people who find them useful even though they have very few transactions right now.

No real assurance here in crypto mate because thru my experiences?even the most legit looking project comes scam in the end of the day.
so in means all is risky and nothing is really certain.

When we are taking an observation what we should take a look for first is firt whitepaper, next is the company or team profile, crypto currency experiences and last but not the list is if their prouduct would go boom in the market or not. And also everyday, there are new tokens that continuously producing that's why it is too hard to choose. Another thing is after we list the token to uniswap, we have to monitor it because it is volatile there are instances that today it could be on its highest peak but tomorrow it would be dump so we should be alert and aware.

Interesting question, the various efforts made to make a project by the developer interesting with the latest updates seen from social media and other information channels.

Everyone's efforts are different, starting with looking at who the team and manager are. White paper. road maps and other important updates. At least there is a small study from me first in my opinion and the above is only an initial description so that it doesn't fall into the same hole and end up in vain at the end of the campaign.

This is kinda tricky but I will like to put few points together for those who are still new to crypto

1. If you are newbie better stick with top altcoins for start atleast
2. Do research on use cases that works or attract investors in crypto space because some use cases are bad
3. Make sure teams know about blockchain technology before even building their own projects
4. Make sure the project use case is very useful, I like payment solutions better because that's what crypto aims to achieve, using Bitcoin or ethereum to pay
5. Also make sure the team has good partnerships in store

You just said everything mate  :D, one of the part I dislike the most, is the part where the team behind the project decides to stay anonymous and try to mimick Satoshi, with no good reason for not showing their faces and letting us know them, how can someone trust them?, what if the team is just a group of amateurs who don't have much experience in the crypto industry, not sure any wise investor would like to invest his money on such project, the only project I know that pulled this of was Avalanche, the rest are just bunch of scams.

The price change and the trade volumes can be misleading. My advice to everyone is to invest only in those projects, which have a real life usage. And more importantly, invest only in those projects where the development work is progressing at a good pace. If you have suspicion that the work has slowed down, and there is a doubt that the promoters are dumping their coins, then avoid these projects like plague.

I always looks whats the altcoin build for, after that the team behind that. i means that's very commons, but i believe with those 2 factors, we can more safer and get better result when investing on altcoins
Knowing the usability of the project token in the real world will actually help in finding answers to unclear questions. Millions of cryptocurrency projects don't care or care-less about their profiling solution to real world problems, why will you expect me to make my investment with a project without case use in a world i live?, doing this will make me ridiculous. Before make any investment with projects of any kind, ensure to dig into their solutions offerings to humanity and if it's short of your expectation, then, don't invest. Scammers has infiltrated the system and those yelling to make investment with new projects should be careful in going about this.

Even if you find everything you ever wanted in a crypto project you still shouldn't rely on it because nothing is certain in this space, diversity is the way through, when a disappointment occurs your portfolio will keep you going, less rated coins can bring you the biggest surprises so I'm done saying one project is better than the other.

The first think or the small thing I try to understand is how effort they out in their website. Cause where I can take their test. And then I try to read about them. Try to collect information as much  as I can. I try to follow their telegram , Twitter or discord. Try to talk with Dev's or the senior persons. After that I check their if there any investors or not and exchange partnership. Try to crosschek them. After that if I think that's fine I go with them.

What i mean in catchy it was recommended by some of our co members here but of course i do consider their opinion but then i see to it to take a quick research on that altcoin. I usually avoid altcoins that have low volume and market capitalization because for me those altcoins are the shitcoins in the market and I should avoid especially if I do not want to lose huge amount of money. I also checked if it is liquid or illiquid, for those who do not know what it is liquidity. It only means if yiu can get in or get out in quick way. You can identify cryptocurrencies if they are liquid or illiquid by looking at bid and ask board. If bid and ask board are near to each other it is liquid but if it is far to each other the token is illiquid. I also focus on price action and I do not care about its background. I only trade token that I have bias.

Where the risks are bigger the reward will be bigger at the same ratio. The altcoins with low marketcap have huge potential, that is the reason why gem hunters call are looking for not discovered gem altcoins. If the project is on the first stage after the ICO, the price doesn't reflect the fair value. Finding this disbalance can make anyone rich if played carefully. Paying the cost of being late to the party is another mistake by investors, the timing is as important as the pricing. The market has no mercy for those who late to join the party and the trend can not turn back down to the buy limit level for a long time.

Can anyone share a checklist of the things they look for to determine if a coin is worth investing in?

I invest in a project according to different criteria:
- Its marketcap (is there some room to grow?)
- It's usecase
- Exchanges
- Community

Sometimes i take advice from people i trust a lot. Reason is i could have missed a crucial point that my interlocutor would have understood much better. Together we are stronger !

And finally, like a lot of people here, i have some 'serious investments but also some 'poker shots'.  ;)

In order to know if an altcoin is worth investing in, you just have to be critical of the content of the project you are working on. It must be clear and orderly, you will also know if it is worth it if such project is active in the market and has a lot of good feedbacks. You also need put great effort like taking it whitepaper before dealing.
This are basic steps but the majority of people never take the time to do it, why? One of the reasons is that people are lazy, they want to make a fortune but at the same time they do not want to make any effort and this is a problem, the second issue is how daunting the task seems, there are hundreds of projects released each month and doing all of this for all of those projects just to come empty handed does not seem attractive for most.

Its actually hard to determine if you are new to investing in the field of Cryptocurrencies. Its only good to stick to old Alternate Cryptocurrencies that still has its platform up and running which is good. An Alternate Coin is worth investing on if you can see that the developers plan to stick around even after the Bounty is done.

I consider when making interests in altcoins that it's additionally critical to search for the group behind each task just as their consistent turn of events. At times perusing there whitepaper isn't sufficient or joining their message. At whatever point I don't know whether the undertaking I'm looking at is genuine or will achievement I will in general stand by when it gets recorded than purchasing in ICO due to past encounters in ICO losing its worth once recorded.

I check every part of project like website, whitepaper, social media, team project, roadmap.
There are the important part. But, if you interested about an altcoin project, you can ask more detail to their admin.

Which is as it should be, after all even if you are not investing your money in the project by being a bounty hunter you are investing your time in order to promote it, and who wants to waste their time? No one, so it is important that bounty hunters take the same time as investors before deciding to join a bounty, but I know they are not going to listen because a great deal of those that are bounty hunters instead prefer to join all the projects they can knowing that some will turn into a scam just to try to join the bounty of a coin that eventually skyrockets.

There are actually lots of ways for you to identify if the projwct is worth investing for. Number one thas you can consider is that their platform, if you can see that their platform is really promising and have a possibility to success you can do that. By also checking at their website because there are some projects that are scams and you can recognize it by looking at their website. You can also check their whitepaper and roadmap, these two are important in a project because that explains everything about that project.

To invest in an altcoin, the most important thing is to investigate the project to know what future we can expect. A token that does not have an important project behind it will most likely end up in oblivion or worth pennies. That is why you have to investigate the project and see the future it has.

I think project team members and developers are the most important factors. Their knowledge, their background and other projects that they collaborate with.
They should have clear Roadmap that shows all the details they want to implement in the future and the estimate lunch time.
having an active community that you be able to ask your questions and have their support.

These factors are the most important one but, you should search about variety of things before investment

Many investors are too lazy to verify how important  that project  is in the  market before  investing on a  particular project.
Here are some ways someone can determine if an altcoin worth that investment:
1) Information : through the information you gather from the platform and other forums can help you to know such altcoin worth such investment.
2) Test : you can also determine if an altcoin worth a particular invest by testing the altcoin project if it is popular in the market to know more about the project by testing other investors project before investing.
3) Observation: there are some altcoin project are scam in the market that doesn't worth such investment and through observation can easily help you to know such project doesn't deserve such amount of money.
I think if you follow this step, it will help you to understand how to know a particular project that worth such investment.

If is altcoin you have to determine if you want to invest safely or risky, i see that the top altcoins are very likely to increase in price in the future as proof when the market increases, these altcoins also increase. On the other hand, if you want to look for highly profitable accounts, you will have to have the knowledge and ability to find those projects, I see we are often out of the top 100 on CMC and those altcoins are In the process of cumulative operations, if you know when to buy, I think the profit is huge.

In determining what altcoin would be the best investment, the most important thing is to consider is does the project is promising and how was it affect and contribute good investment to its future investors. Get some information about it and observe then there you can finally analyzed it through yourself and other people if it is going to be worth investing for.

2. Project is here for a year at least. Even if it just proceeded to enter market - information about early developing should be available.
3. Team is not anonymous.
4. If its an established project, the price should be in bullish movement, but I will buy on dip.

Red flags are the opposite of these basically

Anonymous does not mean the coin or project is a scam because the creator of bitcoin is not known until now. But I agree that we should know the team of a project if they sell tokens because we have to know what products will be produced and also the progress of the project.

Some time investors listen to people's opinions from the project group. Sometimes people Fud in the group and spread fake price expectations and project reviews. If you are a serious investor then you should listen to yourself, not others. And project whitepaper, Roadmap, and Team behind the project are some vital elements for a strong project. Should check those first.

For me, Volume is the most important indicator and I can easily identify a worth it altcoins to buy through looking and analyzing the volume. Most of the shitcoins doesn't have good value and good volume. Those shitcoins should be avoided in order to not experience huge losses and red portfolio. A good altcoin for me have a daily volume more than $10,000,000. If a certain altcoin has that volume consistently then it is one of the good coins, I also suggest that the altcoins should be belong at the top 100 in coinmarketcap.com.

investing is an art, Some kind of instinct like the 6th scene, Not only in altcoin but in anything else, You have seen or heard about reach people in real estate marketing or any other market, the rules are the same, buy low sell high, but to find out the enter and the exit point make the difference between a natural trader and a newbie, I wish I could tell you how to gain that instinct but I can't as it is some inner voice, you can be a professional trader and make some profit but to be a big wealthy person like Trump you need that instinct that only a few have it.

2. Team must be experts not crypto newbies like many projects today.

4. The project team must aim for better exchanges, not p2pb2b, exmarket and few others like these two

While true this is an unforgivable sin, if this was some kind of game in which there were no consequences for your mistakes I could understand why they are not serious about what they are doing, but when it comes to investing and failing at it the stakes could not be higher, most of us earn money through a lot of effort and investing in a bad altcoin is the fastest way to lose it, so to lose your money to scammers just because you were too lazy to check if the project is any good or not is simply not acceptable at all.

I believe it's pretty difficult to decide whether an altcoin project is worth investing since we are simply guessing and each project depict that it can execute the project advancement including its roadmap and all which is composed on each project's whitepaper that is the reason nobody can tell if the project is worth investing or not on the off chance that you are sure about the team, item and its utilization case its everything up to you to judge in the event that you are eager to gamble. red flags are noticeable in many projects and the most well-known thing is the unrealistic guarantees, obscure team profiles and plagiarized whitepapers.

That is just the way people are, people think that just because something happened in the past it can keep happening over and over again but people have learned their lesson, unfortunately at a great cost but they still learned, most of those projects are nothing but scams and even the ones that are not are led by incompetent people that do not really know what they're doing and as such there is no hope to get any kind of positive return out of those projects and as such no one should expect to get any profits out of them.

Here is my contribution and opinions.

when it comes to the initial Coin offering, which is like an IPO here are what i feel an intending investor should look out for ;
1. the competitive edge of the product in the market. This is very important as crypto space is very saturated.
2. The whitepaper of the project.  A great whitepaper will show you the edge.

These two will guide greatly

The coin is as strong as its community. Check all social media accounts they have and try to recognize if the community is the only group of speculators or active users. The speculators will leave the project as soon as the price starts falling down, while the active community doesn´t care much about the price. :)

What if the speculators are paid to remain loyal to the project such that despite the falling they remain optimistic. I think this could mislead investors to invest with a vain hope.

many things are happening in this space.

such a problem is possible. I myself have seen projects that have been listed on the stock exchange but they are very few interested in the market. a team like without development in a long time. but suddenly they come up with new ideas that haven't been realized. different from their initial platform plan. of course, by attracting investment into the project. although all of that could happen, I don't think investors in the crypto market today would be that stupid to be fooled or simply interested in a near-death project.

If it is being managed by a good campaign manager usually the coins or tokens receive is worth it. But it doesn't mean that all of the project being managed by a reputable bounty manager will going to succeed. There are only high percentage of projecta being managed are good. This because these manager are not only for the payment they will get from the project but also to the welfare of the bounty participants. This is the way they see their works towards professionalism.

The large number of group telegram members is not a guarantee that the project is in demand by many people or investors. In my opinion, a good altcoin should be the one that has big transactions and is listed on large exchangers because a reputable exchanger will make a strict selection when deciding on a listing project

Well, that is always true for most Alternate Cryptocurrencies since their only mode of spreading news regarding their further developments but most news about them are fake promises or news that there will be new developments regarding their platforms. It would also be mind boggling if you are only targeting Cryptocurrencies with high transactions since that would already be placed at a high value like Bitcoin. It would only be logical to look or view new platforms that would have the possibility of having Bitcoin like transactions meaning we have to look for its volume.

Dont also forget the red flag sign of broken trust,  trust is very important factor of a good project. Community support is a key to a project success if trust is broken because project team are not transparent or they made wrong actions or decisions then it create bad impact and failure. Imagine a project without community support looks like dull, scam and useless.

When it comes to existing altcoin where it is already listed in different exchanges. I basically rely on the chart of the altcoin and also to its volume, I will ignore altcoins that have low volume because they are the illiquid ones so for me I can considered it as a waste of time and money. In the chart you can observe if there are people who are interested to it or not, if the chart is clear where you can read it and analyze it easily then it is good but if the chart doesn't have a clear data where there are many gaps in terms of candlesticks then for me that are the coins that should be avoided. Not all of altcoins are good to buy, we should be selected when it comes to choosing an altcoins especially if you want to find a worth it altcoins. But when it comes to altcoin project that are in its early phase, I suggest to make a deep research because it has high risks than trading listed altcoins because you do not have guarantee if these projects can become successful.

There are good altcoins to invest with and can get a huge profit especially if one had picked the right altcoin where whales could pump the altcoins and that you can get a high profit. It is not easy to find though but it would be worth taking the risk after getting huge profit. Just remember to invest only the money you can afford to lose.

actually it's simple, if you want to invest in cryptocurrency safely, then you better choose coin that are in the top 100 coinmarketcap, because :
1. the project already has a product and progress, so it looks like this project is not going to be a scam;
2. coin has a high trading volume, making it easier for us to buy or sell it;
3. the price is faster to recover when there is a bear run in cryptocurrency market.
therefore I definitely invest in coin that are in the top 100 coinmarketcap, because the risk is less than I invest in new projects (unless I think the project has a good idea and I'm sure it will give me a profit).

before investing in a project the first thing you need to do is look at the project team, if the project team is active in developing their project and the project brings new ideas and features, it is not a cat copy idea from the old project, the project has well-known corporate partners and also has investors. big, I think this coin is worth investing in.

I prefer alternative coin that has instant transaction and has lower transaction fee. So far Im ok with Dogecoin, Litecoin and XRP as an alternative, since it is supported by my local wallet. The values of this coins also is really doing well, I started buying XRP for only 0.23$ and now it cost 0.3$, not bad to hold a coin for longer term. I have no idea if there is disadvantage on using it, but so far I have no problem with it.

1. The project utilities
2. The team level of experience with blockchain
3. Past companies the team works under
4. Partnerships of the project
5. Exchange the project team target

After following all these one need to invest only what they can  afford to lose only

I doubt just looking at the charts is going to be a good idea to understand if a coin/token is good to invest in or not. I mean the buy and sell volumes can easily be faked. We also know that the price means nothing when it comes to creditability of a coin. The price can be pumped by the developers if they hold most of the coins.
The best way to determine if an altcoin is worth investing in is to look at how active they are. You may want to invest in coins that aren't clone of other coins. Maybe look for coins that provide a useful function that none of the current coins have?

A checklist should be in your head based on all the data you analyzed. There is no 100% reminder guaranteeing investors the profit from the project. Sometimes the most unexpected projects allow you to make a profit, but the projects themselves are not promising, but only speculation. In fact, the task of investors is to look for projects aimed at solving specific problems, projects that have ready-made businesses.

however, one thing you are required to do is you need to study the project. I suggest choosing a project that has been running for 1 year and the price goes up, or not far from the ICO / IEO price. however, for a new project, there are many things to consider, and need more knowledge to know whether the project is feasible or not. even someone who is often in the crypto world is sometimes wrong in choosing an investment place.

To determine whether an Altcoin is worth investing in you must check their website, whitepaper, roadmap, token usage and must check also on the team handling the project. And another thing you must join their social media accounts to get more updates from them, including joining in their telegram or discord where you can discuss with them.

For me, it is very simple. If a particular altcoin is having a real use, then I assume that it is worth investing in. But you need to be careful here. The project team may try to misguide you by making outlandish claims. You need to independently verify these claims. Also, it is necessary to study about the future prospects of the project and the ability of the project team to do sustained development.

There are good altcoins to invest with and can get a huge profit especially if one had picked the right altcoin where whales could pump the altcoins and that you can get a high profit. It is not easy to find though but it would be worth taking the risk after getting huge profit. Just remember to invest only the money you can afford to lose.
How would someone know if that particular Altcoin could be pumped by the whale? because it concerns a whale's interest in an Altcoin, if only he was not interested in Altcoin it would be obvious things like you said it would not happen, so how do we know something like that?
Why all this doubts right now? Any altcoins can pump since bitcoin is surging higher right now, once bitcoin gets tired it's dominance will start decreasing as well, altcoins will start revaluating big time and almost all altcoins will be profitable

It shows that you aren't here in last 2017 bullrun, bitcoin always take the lead for a long time, like weeks before altcoins start benefiting, don't expect altcoins to start surging because Bitcoin is surging too, things don't work like that in Crypto space

You duty is to make sure the altcoin project is huuuge, if not do not bother wasting your money or trying your luck out, another thing is binance launchpads, they gives good returns even if the projects aren't good enough so for profits you can go for binance launchpads, if you plan on holding for long term them out your research skills to work

Only those with actual applications can sustain their market in the long run. So as much as possible if you can find a project with actual use case and with active users already, that would be better. Also, look for their partnerships with other companies, if they do have collaboration with big companies, it means they can proceed without collecting funds from the community and they are pressured to produce results because there are other companies relying on them.

For beginners who want to invest in altcoins then they have to look first at the movements that happen over the next few days for new altcoins because many altcoins are only pump for a moment and ultimately no longer worth it, to be more secure then choose altcoin in the top 10 on a particular market because the coin already has the potential to rely on us in investing and do not be fooled with altcoins that only last a moment and that's where many investors feel disadvantaged ,and we should also look at the team working on a project if they are always active then the project will definitely be a success.

There are several things to consider before investing in any project.
1, The problem they want to solve.
2, Who are the team members. (their profile and experience)
3, The roadmap/blueprint.
4, The infrastructure on ground etc
Positive answers from the above is will be a boost to invest in a project

Before investing in altcoins, I study reviews and analyze the price of these coins. Sometimes everything lies on the surface and it is immediately clear whether it is worth investing in a coin or not. But sometimes everything is difficult for me to decide on the selection and I resort to sites with analytics and predictions of the price of a certain altcoin. For example, these prediction (https://cryptogeek.info/en/blog/xyo-price-prediction) will help me decide whether to invest in XYO coin.

Products and solutions are the main things that we must prioritize in a project, and the second is technology to realize these solutions. A project without a solution is only a project that is used to make quick profits

Upon choosing what altcoins are worth to invest I am looking first at their whitepaper and their roadmap. Through this, I can able to know what are their goals, the product or services they made, and how was the campaign. Next is the developer team and its partners. Of course, you don't want to invest in some projects where developers hide their info, by this you can already tell if they unto something shady or not. Lastly, was their crowdfunding, like will they able to reach their soft cap and hardcap with their promise date or not. For now, that's how I look up altcoins if they are worthy or not.

Both the good and the shit coin so much look alike, infact some of the shit coin looks more genuine that the real ones, to know those one that are worth investing in, trace the history of the manager and the team, how many project have they successfully managed, check the feasibility of attaining the hard cap, you can get more of this on the white paper.

I looking for the meaning of the project, the team that is developing it and how it can add to society. The market value is added after having a base that I mentioned and without that we can be sure of failure, even with a pump the project without base doesn't last long. There are more than 7700 projects on ranking site(coinmarketcap) and 300 are successful. I'm not being pessimistic, but showing the reality and lack of responsibility of the developers.

I am not so good at determining which altcoin were worth investing in but i am doing my best to look for the best reason for a certain altcoin like i did my deep technical analysis and white paper review of altcoin that can convinced me to invest in it. Up until now i am still favoured in ethereum for it was already proven its project ability but i am not set aside the other good altcoins like ripple and binance.

You are right. responsibility of the developer is very much perversion. they only work on their road map a few years running. some even have only 1 or 2 years of platform development. after they are listed on the exchange and the developer leaves the project then creates a new project for profit.

make sure you upgrade yourself with the fundamentals of investments. there are ups and down. when it comes to crypto, do your own research. also learn the basics of trading and investments in cryptocurrency. most New starts ups are hungry to make money and not to build a solid project. So, always be careful before investing your money in crypto projects.

Nope, shitcoin does have a good promotion team sometimes, but if you do some research on how they will use the technology they will make and how they will provide solutions to existing problems, you will know the difference between shitcoin and a quality project.

we should also look at the team working on a project if they are always active then the project will definitely be a success.

Team being active and always roll out updates is a very good point to take note of while investing in a coin. This shows the project is still alive, but this doesn't mean a project with an active team can't rug pull. I'll rather say a well-known active team gives greater hope for holders, an anonymous team being super active is no guarantee the project won't scam. Example PAMP scammed recently after team was active for some time. Also another point to consider is how great is the product, which known companies or organizations are backing the project? How is their marketing like? Where is the coin listed? These are some other factors to consider while investing.

I do not invest in ICOs or projects that in its early phase, I only putting my money on altcoins that are listed wherein there are some guarantee that my money can make money but still there are risks when choosing an altcoin and that skill is important to learn because there are investors and traders who do not know how to pick a right altcoin. A good altcoin have a billion market capitalization where its daily volume is also big where it indicating that there are many people willing to purchase that coin.

There are lots of things to consider when picking up any project.

You gave good examples and from this the idea of choosing coin/s to support should be based  from how deep you track the
project, it's more on the offer usage  and how investors see the same value. If there are community who support the projects
it's a good sign to begin with, you can track the progress before you fully invest your money.

An altcoin is worth investing in if it there are a lot of investors that are patronizing its services and also its product, look at the shitcoins right now where investors are not patronizing it and you can see that its market spread in bid and ask board is too wide wherein its liquidity is not so good. Market capitalization is also a factor so you must consider it before trading an altcoin.

1. The project utilities
2. The team level of experience with blockchain
3. Past companies the team works under
4. Partnerships of the project
5. Exchange the project team target

After following all these one need to invest only what they can  afford to lose only
To all of this I would add checking if the developers are who they say they are, it is very easy on the Internet to hide your identity, scammers know this and they take many steps not only to hide their identity but also to fake it and try to make it seem as if they have more experience than what they actually have, and this is very dangerous because people for the most part look at the developers to try to tell if the project is going to be successful or not and if you do not take the time to do that research most likely you're going to get scammed.

This is a very common thing in this market. If you watch the market properly then you will find maybe 50-60% of the all project goes scam or failed after release or time of release. So it's really hard to tag a project it is scam or not. Cause sometimes some projects looks so strong and good but eventually they go scan after some times. So I would say first check the team members are they legit or not and are they capable of what they are doing or not. Then check their whaite paper they have one or not and are they following their roadmap or not. And if they ofeer something that is kind of impossible then leave them there.

just like jacs, the one that you currently participated  . i have seen many users in this forum that wears a jacs signature and i always wonder that maybe the project is really promising but not all that have been patronize by many individuals are legit because that can also be an example of hype to gather more advertisers so that they can gain more exposure then many investors will invest on it but the end can be tragic . tbh till now i find it hard to identify a legit project , if im given a chance to invest i just go on the older projects .

I usually in choosing altcoins only pay attention to a few things that are very basic in the development of an altcoin and of course this usually determines the development of altcon prices in the future, I see whether these altcoins are invested based solely on the market cap, supply volume, and circulating supply (circulating supply) in the market.

I think there is no any expert on the earth who can predict the success or the failure of any cryptocurrency with 100% accuracy. We can make prediction based on data which is available publicly but there can be more sensitive data that cannot be accessed by us which governs the end result. So when making the investment decision, what I believe is that everything including experience, common sense, data availability, fortune, gut feeling, etc. matters.

That is not really need it, as long as you could have even something as low as a 10% accuracy and you had decent money management skills you could still make money, the problem is that the accuracy of most people is way lower than that and also they invest every single dollar that they have in a single coin and once you do that you are no longer investing you are gambling with your money and as we know for the most part when you gamble you do not have the chances in your favour.

In some genuine cases, the project team prefers to remain anonymous and it is not a big deal. But I have seen instances where fake profiles are created and then presented as the project team. This is a major red flag and it confirms that the project is a scam. But it takes a lot of research to flag such fake profiles. By the time the profiles are flagged, the ICO funding round may be over.

Deciding whether to invest in a new project or not? I suggest focusing your research skills on the TEAM, even if a project has use case that have been seen countless times before it doesn't mean it can fail, the team are the real backbone of a project, if they aren't experts there will be problems, make sure the team have good blockchain experience

I don't make myself into risks. We don't know what is the true value of the project. Experts make precise prediction, even that go as a mistake at times. When it comes to altcoin investment, my choice is the top order assets and the assets that have limited fluctuation.

With new projects I prefer investing on tokens launched through Binance. We can see altcoins growing much higher in percentage, people fall for it without knowing the trading volume. One should be aware and should have basic knowledge on such things to maintain good portfolio.

There is never a sure way to learn the project isn't. Sushiswap now had started gaining trust again but I'm not so sure why invest to it when there is actually Uniswap to go with. We all know its history. There is an option for us anyway so if you find a project not so trusted, check other tokens.

If I really have to invest my money, I'd rather be checking the list of tokens on big exchanges and decide which one.

Red flags sometimes do not bring an important message, members keep investing innocently with the desire to have a big profit in a short time :)
Look for clear projects on team information as well as roadmap, especially if there must be large strategic partners to cooperate, that can be a successful project.
This is a prime example of a successful project, capable of being able to list large Cexs. https://kira.network/

When it comes to new coins regardless of your investigation on the project we are basically guessing and a coin that in the exterior looks exactly the same than another could enjoy massive success while the other fails almost immediately and there is no way to explain this in a logical way, with this in mind then it is better to distance ourselves from all of those new altcoins and just concentrate ourselves in established coins like ethereum that can also give huge profits if you invest at the right time.

Yes the number of scamming projects are increasing day by day. So we have to aware of that. It's very regular they devs left the project dead or fail to develop anything to show it's investors or followers. Yes there are some factors you can check but still there is no guarantee that that project will be good for future or not. You can check devs profile that are legit or not, you can check their partnership and exchange partnership and cross check them. Always check their roadmap and whitepaper. That's it I normally check for this things only.

it is really very disappointing when someone invested in a project and waits 3 months for the project to be listed and sees the project price increase 3X and the person does not sell thinking that the project price may increase even more and months later the altcoin price drops a lot to the point of being lower than the price the person bought. this has been a big problem for many people. I see people complaining about it on twitter and telegram. the best option may be the one you just said

The reason for this is very simple many people invest a low amount of money in a coin and even a 300% increase of their capital is not enough to give them significant profits, and that is because the size of their capital is very low so they keep holding their coins hoping that a coin keeps growing so they can change their future thanks to this coin, but as we know the probabilities of that happening are very low and instead of selling their coins for a profit most of the time they sell it for a loss or they even lose all of their capital if the coin crashes all the way to zero.

There are many factors that you must consider when you are investing in an altcoin such as the good planning and clearness of their roadmap and also if the team developer is consists of well and experienced crypto experts. However it really gives you the assurance that it will be a successful one knowing that crypto-market is so unpredictable. The best thing that you must do is do your own deep research so you can really see the pros and cons of a certain altcoin what you are prospecting to invest with.

1. Capitalization on market

If they are well-established with a REAL huge community. social media numbers and market activity can be manipulated.
I don't trust them fully, as I see shitcoins projects pay their community by maximizing their social media presence.
Maybe you can consider reviews from well-trusted sites and people.

The development of technology is probably the main indicator of the development of any cryptocurrency. If the technology of the cryptocurrency Foundation cannot fulfill the tasks set for it, it is unlikely that it will be able to exist in the long term.

There are 3 things that I base on to find out any worth Altcoins to invest is :

1. Capitalization on market
2. Development team and what issues do their product solve now and in the future
3. Be supported by big investment funds

These things wont really be enough as a good indication for an Altcoin is worth to invest in.

-They wont make capitalization in the first place if they do failed up initially.
-Most coins that has value arent always having that real life usage or relevance
-It all matters with liquidity but doesnt mean that if a coin had been traded by the masses it already
means success.Time will surely tell.

Altcoin is worth on investing if you do really see its relevance and potential real life usage.

And how do you distinguish "real" communities from fake ones? I think the most effective way is to check the team background. If they have a team that is not related to project goals, for example they create a platform about climate and weather but they have a team that deals with livestock, I'm sure that would be the first alert to be aware of.

Altcoins that are worth investing in are altcoins that have team strength, and fundamentally,
if the fundamentals of a team are strong, of course the project will have great potential, especially like Tron, and Waves,
even though these two coins are very good this year, but which shows an increase amazing are waves,
but there will be times when Tron will also ride amazing

Took a lot of time for Waves to advance this fast, its like they have their own pace of bullrun. I think many of its investors lose interest in the project when it dip to its lowest despite how high the price was during 2017. It's sort of a pump and dump centralize platform. This isn't even a top project right now. But the two TRON and WAVES announced recently about their strategic partnership which is why they got this massive jump.

There are lots of projects which scammed with people or leave the development in the middle. So now investing in a project is bit risky for many people. There is no specific checklist which can save you from these kind of scam. The only thing which can save you from is your knowledge and experience. If you have enough knowledge about the market and investment strategies then it will be very easy. Where ever you investing before that gain some knowledge about the investment. That's it.

Whether cryptocurrency is suitable for investment.  This is a topic discussed by many people, and everyone has a different view.  When we are exposed to cryptocurrency.  First look at the content of the project white paper.  Does the official website exist?  There is also whether the project promotion media is running, and whether there is a more direct dialogue with the project manager in Telegram.  Check whether the project owner is authentic.  Is this idea true?  This is easy to observe.  Check if the project is real.  We need a lot of investigation.  Whether it is suitable for us to invest.  You need to be careful when investing in cryptocurrencies.  After all, there are many scams in the cryptocurrency world.

reviews from well-known sites are indeed quite good to take into consideration, sometimes I also see reviews from experts about the projects I want to invest in, if the reviews are positive and they have a good team, then I will buy the coins,
This could be a pretty good method, but I could still see that people would be "endorsed" even though they were experts. so we better do a thorough research of the team on the project. If their team is credible as well as competent, I believe they can build a good project

This topic is generally stalking about investing on new projects I think, well new projects are more risky to invest money on, even if they are high quality project with good products you can't tell for how long they plan to be around, that's the main issue with most new projects, for longevity assurance old top altcoins are more trusty but with new altcoins you need to put in more effort when keeping them, make sure you track their developments

The safest way is to first know the team that is in the project, after that you have to read the whitepaper to know the purpose of the products they offer and see the team's performance. besides that you can also check the community

You have to be lucky to make 50X or 100X of an altcoin. You never know which coin will pump, back in 2017 lots of shit coin pumped to 100X then dump after few days. So it's not like if you research find a good coin and invest, I have seen many good coins won't pump more than 10X. so it totally up to luck.
100x is insane for shitcoin, and I think maybe only certain projects were able to hit 50x. What we need is the product as well as the team behind a project. if both are good, then it is certain that the project will be good. a project with a good product and with a credible team will be a project worthy of our investment

For me to find a decent altcoin, it must have several important requirements,
is that the altcoin project is active in social media because social media is a fairly effective communication,
a road map that is already running well, a strong and experienced team, and a few more conditions.
and of course, all must be done with analysis first

I think the most important point you made is that an altcoin is worth investing if it has "a strong and experienced team". If a team is capable to achieve goals and has a strong community supporting them, then the project is already 50 percent successful. Also, there should be very good project backings. For example Injective protocol is backed by Binance, this gives investors some level of hope. Whitepaper and Roadmap nowadays can be well written / designed but yet the project is scam, hence even though I check through to know project aim and milestones to be achieved, it's not really what makes me invest in a project.

A lot of scams are much more active in social media. They easily get victims through active marketing and also being active several social media to converse with their potential.
That's not a guarantee factor to have a social media presence as a good project. Although that one can be just an added factor but don't wholly rely to that thing if you're looking for a legit project.

I truly don't see investing in altcoin as a worthwhile venture, I incline toward the idea of trading. Investing seems as though placing cash into a project for occasional interest and that is not what I'll jump at the chance to connect on the grounds that the cryptocurrency business is very dangerous and I'll rather buy a couple of coins with the expectation of selling when the worth changes decidedly.

For me, it is all about the protocol or the token details, the website, the team behind the project, the supply of the token and the investors. Some project might be backed up by strong foundations and that might be a success factor. It's not clear but it's a lucky process.

in my opinion personally to determine the project is feasible or not I usually look at the product after that I read the whitepaper to see more details such as the roadmap, project objectives and the team behind the project. and what I need to know is the address of the project from which I usually see it using the goolge map

-WP
-Roadmap
-Project team identity

and lastly the Projects relevance.

We know that there are lots of ideas out there that do flood out in the market. You can differentiate which one is really something

that you can trust up when it comes to future aspects. It may fail but at least you had done your job and making use of your common
and researching skills.
its up to someones jurisdiction if they do saw the project is really worth or not.

For me, it is very important to observe team staffs and members if they are legit and not a fraud or scam. Also to consider the transparency of the project and the roadmap if it is possible planned accordingly. We should determine the team and the project if it is developing upon time to time up to the long run, so that we could determine whether the project has a good future or not.
