Bitcoin Forum

Hi there!

I'm a PhD student in communication at USC Annenberg really interested in alternative economies and technology. I've been researching Bitcoin over the course of the last year and have been following this forum, but this is my first time posting.

I'm hoping to contribute work that's grounded in the community, since a lot of the work that's been published on Bitcoin so far has been pretty technical. I'm especially interested in what Bitcoin means for how we understand money in the post-financial crisis era.

As a heads up, I'll be posting a survey soon that's part of my first foray into the project - I would love to hear all of your thoughts! Any results I gather will be shared with the community, and no identifiable information will be collected.

Welcome to the forum.  Sounds like you have some interesting skills that could be useful to the forum and it's members.  I'm going to try and follow your work in the future as there should be some interesting things to learn along the way, cheers.

you might want to give ripple a look for your research. it is a network that federates everything and everyone whether you are a bank or a crypto currency exchange. think of it as something like SMTP for money.

@tokeweed, I actually hadn't heard of Ripple before, but will definitely spend some time looking in to it since it sounds like just the type of thing I've been studying - thanks for sharing!

@R0yalAir, I'm actually relatively new (only in my first year as a doctoral student) so I haven't had much published yet - though I've got a few things in the pipeline. I'll definitely share more as soon as I can, starting with the initial results of this project early next month.
