I guess putting red layer over images didn't help them to hide the fact that they used random generic images for their fake team. Title: Re: [WARNING] Hideme.finance (DeFi) - Fake Team Post by: Rikafip on October 04, 2020, 04:04:34 PM REAL identity: Linda Horn? possibly stock photo So called "Linda Horn" is without the doubt just another stock photo, like rest of the fake team.https://i.postimg.cc/1Rgm3dcL/fake-team.jpg UNFORTUNATELY, I cannot create a flag as I have an inactive flag on the user. Since you can't create flag against @Arch Crypton Game, I took the liberty to create one, I hope you don't mind, no point to wait for 6 months since activity of @Arch Crypton Game mainly consists of creating ANN threads for dodgy DeFi projects, so better warn newbies and guests immediately since you made solid case against him. By the way, nice find, keep up the good work, and you have been very active lately!Flag Type 1 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2368 I guess putting red layer over images didn't help them to hide the fact that they used random generic images for their fake team. Yep, they thought that by using some red filter for team member photos will somehow magically fool the reverse image search.Title: Re: [WARNING] Hideme.finance (DeFi) - Fake Team Post by: qwertyup23 on October 04, 2020, 04:22:45 PM Since you can't create flag against @Arch Crypton Game, I took the liberty to create one, I hope you don't mind, no point to wait for 6 months since activity of @Arch Crypton Game mainly consists of creating ANN threads for dodgy DeFi projects, so better warn newbies and guests immediately since you made solid case against him. By the way, nice find, keep up the good work, and you have been very active lately! Flag Type 1 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2368 I appreciate the kind words from you, Rika! Thank you for creating the flag in my behalf, I shall now edit and include the flag that you made on the post. Once again, thank you! Good finding OP, and negative feedback for scammers. I guess putting red layer over images didn't help them to hide the fact that they used random generic images for their fake team. Putting a red layer does not solve anything and it is a weak attempt on the scammer to shroud the generic/stock photos that they used. Also, I appreciate the kind words that you said. Thank you! Title: Re: [WARNING] Hideme.finance (DeFi) - Fake Team Post by: TalkStar on October 04, 2020, 05:06:58 PM Impressive work done by "qwertyup23". If i am not wrong then this guys are the same group of scammers who are connected with several ICO scams. I just made a short visit to their website and it seems to me that this guys have good experience on creating ICO website. Entire website contains all elements to make visitors believe that its a real one but they have stolen team members photos from internet like most scam project usually do. Due to recent popularity of DeFi projects now they are trying their luck here.
Flag supported and user profile tagged from my end. Title: Re: [WARNING] Hideme.finance (DeFi) - Fake Team Post by: TheUltraElite on October 05, 2020, 06:23:49 AM Well I supported both of the flags though, I dont think it will ever happen that they are going to come good on their wrong doings such that the flags would be withdrawn - very remote possibility, so I will keep both flags supported.
The red layer actually works as intended though - not all image reverse searches would be able to catch it. This method and some other image editing methods have been used previously to evade scam catching methods. Sadly these scammers have never stopped and thus scam hunter should also not stop exposing them. Title: Re: [WARNING] Hideme.finance (DeFi) - Fake Team Post by: tippytoes on October 05, 2020, 06:29:27 PM This is the mistake of this defi project, they published their fake team members. We are already in the stage that people are doing their job to search team members about their real background. As people got burned so many times with these scam projects, one warning signal is to look if the team behind a particular project is real or fake. If they have no ill intentions, they won't use fake photos. Many thanks for users who continuously look for warning signals and eliminate potential scam projects in the forum.
