Title: [ANN] [INTEREST CHECK] Polymerbit Basic Project
Post by: polymerbit on October 05, 2020, 09:56:40 AM
Hello there!

I've been thinking a lot lately about how to make Bitcoin accessible to more people.

A major goal of Polymerbit has been to convince people to try crypto for the first time by allowing them to understand it better.

We are strong believers that tangibility is key here.

While our top of the line products are great if you love high quality and artwork...

perhaps we need something for people who just want to try it without major investment.

Maybe offering an affordable product as a basic option can allow you to spread these notes around.

----

So.. here is what I was thinking.

A lower cost BTC wallet intended for all. The goal here is to try to make it a bit cheaper with each generation.

With our current processes and the labour involved, we can sell them at £9.99 each.

It takes what we have experimented with so far; trims it down to be economically viable, and allows for a working BTC wallet at this price.

Count me in!

Will holo(s) also be included at the £9.99 price tag?

Any plans for different denominations, or the planning is to produce just 1 design (in large quantities), to keep the production cost low?

I like the idea of this, but I would avoid putting a denomination on the note on that case... just knowing it’s supposed to be used for a “cold wallet” would avoid confusion of what’s loaded on there I would think.

I agree - cold storage wallets should have no denominations. now gift notes like gift certificates could have an amount. maybe do ones with denominations and ones without? server two purposes?

The picture in the OP shows two variants as far as I can see. One where you write your own value and one with a fixed value.

ahhh quite right! I could not read that small print on my phone - but I can see that on my PC. so good - hope they do both variants!

I have been thinking about for the exact same thing since I was giving some gift to my nieces in the range of .01BTC and reached to mJ to buy a loaded coin in that range..

I would definitely be interested in few in different denominations like .001BTC, .005BTC, .01BTC, .025BTC and .05BTC

The format would be prob very similar to what you posted but I would prefer to have the BTC address and priv key already embedded into the note and have maybe kinda extension to that note like a memo or something to add the details(from, to, some note, etc) for the gift. I did receive something very similar which triggered me this idea. Will try to post the pic of that soon with what I have..

The idea is great to use these notes to give around as gifts as well as create awareness..

I had actually sent them an email about doing a project (custom notes) that I would have done with denominations like .0005 to .01 range and possibly some without denominations about a week or so ago.

I was thinking of starting it next year around April. These may fulfill that idea/need.

Thank you all for the feedback!

We are experimenting with various denoms. But in practice most likely the non denom will be issued first.

Followed by a roll out of other denoms. Our distributors (Minerjones & Mitchell) first have to have the notes in stock for that happen.

For now we don't plan to make major design changes to each denom. Maybe minor colour variations. Design is one of the hardest parts of making these notes.

We are looking at a cheaper solution than using our holos. Scratch offs may be a long term solution. But if not, we may use generic holograms and print over them.

Yeah these are good for a barebones project. Relatively simple design, gets the job done.

Our new business model opens up custom commissions to everyone on orders of 99pcs or more on all three tiers (basic, secure & style).

I'm thinking a bit about how we can make these come out in November.

I'm considering offering a keyless variant first (how we used to do things), then start offering a key based one in the future.

Would this be something you guys would be interested in?

Yes on both for me.

I think keyless variant will not attract collectors that much according to my opinion. I wish coldkey comes up with coldkey dollar notes something design like US 100 dollar Bill using polymerbit technologies this November/December and that will be super cool. I will guarantee you they all be sold out in no time.

Edited and updated .....

This is just an example of a so beautiful US note ever. This is just my opinion. Tom Bradley who is the director of independent currencies will be able to design something like the bottom. The finished collectible will have coldkey logo and hologram on polymerbit designed note. Just imagine who will not want that note.  ;D

Lol. Fuck USA currency, besides, we all know that you are bit off your door son (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5278980.msg55284541#msg55284541). My only real favorite is the 1899 Black Eagle tho.  (https://www.ebay.com/i/401566167181)

US notes are off-topic IMO, but gold notes like the Utah and Nevada Goldbacks are going to be kicking ass for a while, they keep selling out all over the place.  ;D

Edit - besides, if you are wanting to collect US state notes like that, you are in for a deeeeeeep ass rabbithole LOL ... https://antiquebanknotes.com/

Edited and updated ...

oo I c you  do collect old currency notes. Good to know that.

Tom Bradley who is the director of independent currencies will be able to design something like the bottom. The finished collectible will have coldkey logo and hologram on polymerbit designed note.

A Polymerbit collaboration with Tom Bradley?
A Polymerbit collaboration with Yogg (aka Coldkey)?

That's a fantastic idea! But wait... I have good news... both already happened !!!  ;D

Why do you suggest a company (with an already established branded hologram), to use another's company logo/holo for their products? That doesn't make any sense to me...

Polymerbit sent all the notes to Yogg, and the last, created the private keys and applied the holos (for the collab notes). Hence, if you trust the coldkey's private keys, then you should also trust those keys too.

Just imagine who will not want that note.  ;D

Although that currently, you can only find those limited edition notes (only 21 pcs available) on the secondary market, you can still get a Tom Bradley collab note directly from the official Polymerbit store (while supplies last)

just my 2 satoshis

Hints: Polymerbit 10th Year of Bitcoin note (03/01/2019) & Mystery Note 4

Than you tweetious. That was a through and long respond. I certainly asperate that. I like poly and coldkey collectibles a lot. That is why I just came up with that idea for the coming Christmas.

Thank you a lot!
