did not saw the topic about bitcoin logo, as it is now defined, and this article provides history of bitcoin logo, created on this forum
since many members were not on the forum at that time (me included), it is a good article about history of the logo and getting to know better how the logo is created

what do you think about logo re-branding, or Bitcoin need a symbol and does not need a logo, since it is a decentralized currency, not a brand?

Imho rebranding is not necessary and could do more bad than good.

There are already plenty of altcoins with slightly different logo and something (Cash, Diamond, ...) added to the name to confuse newcomers.
If even the original Bitcoin would change the logo, some websites will have the old one and some will have the new one, confusing newcomers even more, especially (as also written in the linked article) since the actual logo can be already seen in paid advertising.

The current BTC logo is already widespread and famous enough that most people will already know that it's Bitcoin's logo when they see that orange circle with the BTC. Changing it right now would most definitely just do damage on Bitcoin's logo. It's not like the orange circle logo is outdated or anything, it's actually timeless as it's pretty simple and straight-to-the-point.

What is wrong with the current logo which causes the urgency for rebranding?
Symbol or no symbol, It doesn't matter. Just like it hasn't mattered in the last decade.

I don't think changing the logo is even required. It's been there for close to 10 years, It's simple and precise, It stands out and It's the perfect representation for Bitcoin. All I see are just a few critics making noise about how they want the logo to look like.

Being a decentralized currency doesn't mean that every time someone makes a suggestion or an opinion to have something changed about bitcoin, then It has to be instantly changed. If this allowed, it will create more chaos.

Interesting.
I guess you could just change the logo to a flag (for the Decentralized Network), or we just call it a flag? People who don't like the flag could just call the logo something else (icon maybe?)

Symbol/sign should be used for the currency

the logo is clear.
BTC

the currency symbol is clear
BTC

nothing confusing about it.
if you want to play with something.
play with symbols for millibitcoin and microbitcoin(bits)
0.00100000 and 0.00000100 respectively
because soon enough no one will be playing with a whole bitcoin. much like no one plays with $1000 bank notes. so play around with the sub units if you want

As mentioned in the article, the logo has been changed several times. Therefore, no need for further adjustment as it's not necessary.

During the early years, the development of the logo is a must since they are working with popularity.

With bitcoin's current popularity around the globe, changing the logo might bring other impressions.

It would indeed give out some impression but majority in the community wont really prefer on changing up Bitcoin logo. We are good on this one and in the poll indicates
that people are already contented on what we have now.It gain popularity into that form and theres no need for some alteration or changes once again.
Unless if Satoshi comes out and did suggest about on the new Logo then that would be the time, people would really consider out. No one beats the creator itself. LOL!

I also don't think it will happen. Even Satoshi Nakamoto comes out and suggest about that, it's only "suggestion" for sure.
Even he/she will do it, there will be some people will disagree and agree too. What I am seeing or being observed about this Bitcoin logo is some people especially those pioneers on Bitcoin will NOT agree on changing the Bitcoin Logo.
There's a lot more problem other than Bitcoin logo, it is not priority for sure.

The question is why we need a new logo/symbol for Bitcoin? People have no problem with the current logo/symbol, even people seem to like the uniqueness of the current logo/symbol. In my opinion, if we change it to the new one, we instead get rid of its distinction/specialty. In addition, the logo/symbol has been spread out around the world for years, people are familiar with the current one.

*Note: Having a new one won't add any big value, neither to make Bitcoin adoption faster.

We don't have to take the decentralized characteristics of bitcoin to the point that the logo should be rebranded.

Changing it will just result in continuous modification while its progress.

I see no big reason why a change should be made. The rebranding will just make people think that bitcoin is run by an authorized body.

I liked the history of the Bitcoin logo design. We should feel lucky to believe in the project and continue to support it. I feel more and more committed to sharing with people who do not know about Bitcoin and teaching them to use it so that they can see how useful it can be in their lives. I also agree that the logo is fine with its current design. It is a brand / symbol that is known around the world.

NO
This one is enough and no need to rebranding or renews the logo.
This logo has its own characteristic, history, and also brand.
If we are going to rebrand or renew the logo, who will be responsible for it? Logo contest? Or others?

There is no need to rebrand, this one is the best one, simple and meaningful.

There's no need to change either the logo or the symbol of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is not yet very familiar to a lot of people, and rebranding won't help argue for Bitcoin or promote its adoption. It might only confuse others.

You change the logo, you might appear to be promoting some Bitcoin wannabe shitcoin. We need to realize that there's way too many Bitcoin shitcoins out there ready to confuse Bitcoin newcomers with the help of a slightly different logo.

The strength in the code and the extent to which people use it, and there is no need to focus on logo, as it will not change anything in the nature of the investment.
Many altcoin try to resemble the dollar and choose names and logos close to it to obtain some adoption, which indicates that these currencies have no value.

I read some old topics about it and people add more discussion about it. you can find that the old one was BC logo.

I have not seen any reason enough to change the logo, the colours not bad, "golden yellow" and gold color is an indication of something valuable.the circle is already a coin and the B is the bitcoin. Anyway, if the logo be change it would have an effect on the value of the coin and any adjust is sure to be for a better. The only constant thing in life is "change" itself. It's not even about how famous & accepted the logo gas been.

There are some platforms still use the first BTC logo on their sites.

https://wp.decrypt.co/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/bitcoin-logo-v2.png

If you consider the change of color from that version to the current popular version, purely in orrange, it is a big change and I like it, simple and neat, easy to recognize. It fits with the trend of simplify logo desgins from colorful to single color or as less colors as possible.

You can look at the long history and changes of Apple's logo. Their current version is simple and perfect.

since bitcoin is decentralized and it is not a company, organization, brand,... it also doesn't have a logo or brand. there are designs that are more popular than others but each project pretty much uses their own logo.

Yeah, that is aficionados and also we can be called it "vintage" that it has a historical factor that we shouldn't replace.
The Bitcoin logo was fine and it's clear the true meaning of bitcoin. Even if you look in digital or hand draw it is always fine and I guess there's no need to rebrand the logo of bitcoin.

Unless, if you are the real Satoshi Nakamoto. Then, declared that you need to change the logo, that is fine.

Re-branding the logo won't do anything, won't attract more investors. Investors came not because of the logo that bitcoin has, but because of the technology and the ever greater change in value. Bitcoin also needs faster and wider adoption. The new logo will only change the history of bitcoin, the old logo has a history that cannot be replaced.

Stable pump in the market is not because of new logo or old logo, many factors influence it.

Logos of famous companies change from time to time, with the core symbol remaining the same. But since Bitcoin is not a company, I think it should not be compared with them in this question. Rather, does the dollar symbol change? Or how would you feel about the symbol of EUR changing? So I agree that the symbol should remain the same. As for the background color and stuff, it doesn't really matter to me because it doesn't come up often. What could change is the logo used by the forum, and I would be fine with some sort of art contest on this matter. But Bitcoin itself is fine as it is: BTC.

Make it 20/20 since the poll has been locked, and also lock this topic up. There's not much to discuss here as everyone is quite satisfied with how Bitcoin looks like as symbol. Changing it won't give us benefits anyway, instead just like everyone said, It'll only create confusion to those who are new to cryptocurrency.
It's inevitable that someone might think a new Bitcoin logo is some new altcoin/shitcoin.
So yeah that's a wrap, lock this up.

I don't think it really needs to be rebrand besides most forum users here who do love the classic logo and it past many storms already. 10 years without change? I think this will be the Twinings (https://veodesign.com/2012/en/05/05/meet-twinings-the-oldest-logo-still-in-use/) in the crypto sphere if it will last for more decades. Who knows?

The poll result is very clear. Nobody wants to have the logo and the symbol of Bitcoin changed. This forum may be small but I think the sentiment here at least regarding this topic could very well reflect the sentiment of everyone who already knew Bitcoin. After all, this is the very forum started by Satoshi, where the discussion of which symbol and logo be used for Bitcoin taken place and agreed.

And also, what is the purpose of changing the logo and symbol of Bitcoin. Would it help push Bitcoin adoption worldwide?

Funny how I'm only finding out now that Bitboy's design was recognized as the current logo. No offense to the tilted "BTC" with orange background but when I think of bitcoin, I think of the Satoshi's version https://wp.decrypt.co/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/bitcoin-logo-v2.png

Sorry to whoever made the design proposed to replace Bitboy's version but it sucks hehe. Anyone can have their opinion but the letter B with two strokes is the recognized representation of bitcoin whether it's straight or titled.

It's completely unnecessary. No need for any re-brandings, it might just cause some confusion to the market.
Also if bitcoin logo will be changed, there could be other projects that will use this logo with the purpose of scamming people with their crypto projects.

The logo of bitcoin itself already has a huge name to crypto space, it's simple and it already tells what bitcoin is even at the first glance.

It should remain as it is. I think it is unnecessary to change the bitcoin's logo for it will surely result to confusion. Today's current logo is already a good one and people are used to it. But, if we are going to change it into a better one, it should be eye-catchy and represents bitcoin more than the old logo. Though, changing logo into a new one should be our least priority. We should focus more on other things aside from this.

There is no problem with the bitcoin symbol BTC and making a logo is also not a problem . Since the beginning this symbol BTC has been used and been known by many. Others may redesign it but the bitcoin symbol on it like this BTC should be remain. I don't undersrand why do we have to change it. I mean, bitcoin will still be bitcoin whatever logo or symbol they should add into it. The essence of it being a king of cryptocurrency wouldnt change at all.

I don't think it could be simpler than it currently is, and now that it's over a decade old a logo change would only make people very, very confused. Bitcoin's logo is just a letter with two stripes on it - why would we need a "rebranding"?

It's a currency. Not a product or a company. Therefore, we should just accept it the way it is. A fancier logo wouldn't help with the adoption in any way - in fact, it may actually hurt it the same way Bitcoin Cash's introduction made some very confused about which project is the legit one.

What befalls the current logo?. Everything seems fine with it there's no compelling reason to supplant the logo with anything. Its been a decade and we all know how bitcoin's logo looks like.
I figure we ought not to think about its logo or its appearance it still unpredictable and non genuinely cash.
It's the same to a stock exchange however containing a lot of potentials, better to focus on your speculation, exchange rather than its logo, appearance

Why we cant just simply tell people that if they do saw a color green themed Bitcoin symbol is a total shit? For sure they would really be informed.  :D

Looking at the poll results then it do shows that people does still prefer the original ones.It doesn't really need to be modified,  converted or altered
because it is good on what it is currently.

People had known already on whats the symbol and if there would be changes then that would really just add up into confusion.

Bitcoin's logo is already perfect and it doesn't really affect its price in the market.

Its logo is just the representation like just a dollar sign, peso sign, and etc. It doesn't really matter anymore, we should focus more on its adoption and its price in the market.

Rebranding is really unnecessary during times like this because bitcoin is potentially a future's currency which do not need a lot of focus in its appearance.

You can use any logo you want for bitcoin. There is no "official" logo. The orange one is just the one most use and think of when thinking of bitcoin. There are other way more important things to concern ourselves with.
I think the logo is clever anyway. Its like an extention of the $ sign. It looks so cool and all high tech like circuitry and stuff.

We are good with our original logo and it will remain forever, As you can see, the case with companies that have their own brand has to change their logo for the sake of the sales. while Bitcoin doesn't need this because this is where the original BTC has been known to the people. Throughout these years, we went through some hard times but still remain strong with the current logo we are using today. So, for the next thousand years, we will use this logo to preserved its history and for the respect of its creator no other than Satoshi Nakamoto.

Users of bitcoin are already attached to the logo. It has an intrinsic meaning for bitcoin which is the originality of it.
I believe the logo we are using currently is just okay.

First of all, Bitcoin is decentralized. How can you re-brand something that doesn't even exists nor made in a single place? Second, Bitcoin has already made its way to be so popular across the globe, making a change in logo would be also a change on its overall system. Companies can rebrand anything as their logos in business are feasible or something that they can control, in which BTC cannot. But honestly, Bitcoin never had any logo. The BTC we use now is simply a symbol, the same as the other currencies out there. Have you seen a dollar re-symbol?  :D

People who wanted to experiment made their own altcoin forks so propose them to change logos and not just color or position like Bcash :)

I think in the world of cryptocurrency like bitcoin, what kind of logo is not important because actually what is an important influence is how the coin is used by many people and an important influence on the use of the coin among humans, so use is more important than thinking about changing the logo.

Rebranding would be impossible and ultimately be detrimental. Cognizability of the bitcoin logo is widespread. trying to rebrand the logo is pointless.
Voracious. There's no urgency to Re-branding the bitcoin logo , noone complaining about that though why would you or anyone else doing that? Would be a futile attempt.
Use this, use that as long as you comfortable go for it.
The logo that has been all around are likeable , no problem at all.

There is no official bitcoin logo basically, it's just the logo that most used all around considered as an official one .

...
what does Bitcoin need a new logo for? the Bitcoin logo is currently perfect IMO...
The Bitcoin logo is currently on a permanent list on many word keyboard themes and is very well known like the US Dollar logo. Satoshi Nakamoto is a genius to have invented the Bitcoin logo.

The bitcoin logo is so perfect and unique, everyone and even not from the digital currency community has marked the current bitcoin logo as the timeless logo of all time, although the bitcoin logo designs vary so that's how people know bitcoin in their own way and don't regulate it.

what do you think about logo re-branding, or Bitcoin need a symbol and does not need a logo, since it is a decentralized currency, not a brand?

From my views  I think the existing logo of bitcoin still brand, because looking at it, it attracts user of bitcoin base on its uniqueness in natures, shall it differs based on individual choice of design, because what someone confirm worthy might be worthless to another person.

Why rebranding the bitcoin logo? I don’t think it is necessary since people already use to it since it was created. Bitcoin is already well known globally if changing its logo possibly may create confusion for the users. I love the design of bitcoin from the very beginning.

Why would anyone want to rebrand the current bitcoin's logo :o?,the logo is already perfect that way, and it's already famous all over the world right now, cus mere seeing the "orange color + BTC sign" anyone would know thats bitcoin, so changing it now wont be nice idea, i personally love the current logo BTC, so no point rebranding it, the current logo is already perfect.

Changing the Bitcoin logo is a bad plan and doesn't need to be done.
Bitcoin code is well known and good, doesn't need to be changed anymore. better bitcoin use the current logo.

There is nothing to change or whatsoever on the logo of bitcoin because it's already been used for a long time now and that logo already stuck into the heads of crypto people and to the crypto communities. Besides, re-branding bitcoin's logo is bad idea in the first place hence that logo was already part of the history of mankind as one of the greatest invention of mankind that cannot be changed no matter what the circumstances are.

Why to change the logo of Bitcoin if the BTC logo is popular worldwide already.

I don't see any reasons to change the logo of it and one thing more is that Bitcoin doesn't owned by one company unlike other companies that they can change the logo anytime they want. It is different case for Bitcoin. Lets just stick to it and don't change it. It will just cause confusion to other people especially newbies.

A logo change comes when there is a major identity or concept or product change with an entity. Logos are not changed just for the fun of it. When Bitcoin has a major concept change, certainly there will follow a logo change to accommodate the new ideas and concepts added.

At present, there has not been any major concept change to Bitcoin therefore a logo change is just a cosmetic.

Looking good,
But changing the logo is not very good for bitcoin when it has become very popular, it will only cause confusion, not a new look that is needed.

If the Bitcoin logo is not popular, of course there will be no problem replacing it with a new one. old logo does not matter there is no reason to change the logo.
now the bitcoin logo is very popular and in my opinion there is no need to replace it with a new one, everyone already knows the bitcoin logo

I must preferred this bitcoin logo for now because it was known in the whole world if they see a logo of bitcoin.
But if they want to change a new logo for bitcoin Ill think need more time to think if that will be the best for bitcoin to change it.
Even do they change it many of us in here will be accepted of what it really comes from bitcoin because the important thing that we need is to earn bitcoin and the flow of bitcoin will be improve.

I think the logo is good for the bitcoin family. Changing the logo to sybom it can cause many investors not to make a good income from their investment.
People are still joining the  because of Logo which is attractive in the market. And the bitcoin logo is a potential of good profit making in the business.

I don’t know why some people keep talking about this BTC logo. This is no longer just a logo, it’s also now a symbol and the world has recognized Bitcoin and this is the symbol they know it with, so nothing is changing about this. People should learn to accept things as it is and just move on. I have seen over two people this year recommend a change to the BTC logo and the ones they even posted was worst than what we already have.

All those people keeps suggesting that we change it are even the ones that are bringing up something worse. I like the current symbol and the simplicity, there is nothing much there, it’s just good. And that aside this is a logo/symbol that has gone round the world, why change it now the currency is popular? Makes no sense please, let’s go with it.

A lot of people who'd preferred the bitcoin logo itself and they are not gonna change the bitcoin logo. Even here in the forum most of the users here are going to agree that no need for the bitcoin logo to change. It is because there was just no point in changing the bitcoin at all. Changing the bitcoin logo will not affect the market price of bitcoin and also it is not gonna be easy. I don't know if it is still possible because the bitcoin logo was already in every person's and investors' minds. Also, we could notice that the bitcoin logo is kinda evolving as time pass.

The bitcoin logo that is currently circulating is quite iconic and simple, so it's easy to remember even though it's only with the letter B in white in an orange circle, so I don't think there's any need for re-branding anymore. Besides, I think symbols BTC will be more important, more functional and in keeping with their decentralized niche.
Well, logos and symbols are quite important identities, because only images or symbols can present the entire profile in them. It's cross-language, people from any country with a different language can understand one sign, it's an indication that the logo or symbol is successful.

No, I am sure we don't need a new logo. Or it will be awful for me 'cause my friend already ordered the custom 7 panel hats (https://headwearhut.com/collections/custom-7-panel-hats) with bitcoin. And we'll be losers with an old logo if you want to change it. And why do you actually want to make a rebranding? I guess bitcoin's logo is enough modern and minimalistic. Or you don't know this new wave of lousy rebranding? Yeah, they wanted to give a fresh breath for companies, but they did wrong with this minimalism design. And it's unlikely that the author will listen to you, anyway.
You know that there are people who do love on having that changes which same as said that I don't really see any need of changing because we've been dealing with this on a decade and I don't see

any need for changing it out and its true that it do looks minimalistic and on point and also to think that Bitcoin had become from zero to hero with this logo design.

So to those who don't like it then you wont really have any choice because this is on where majority is been preferring.

The current logo is very beautiful and perfect in all respects. There are no flaws in this logo so there can be no reason to change the logo. The logo that Satoshi Nakamoto has designed with his own hands is quite demanding, the need for a second logo is unnecessary. The current logo is a reflection of Digital Gold and Satoshi Nakamoto.

And what's the point of a logo? Ahh, that's right - to become known and widespread and so far I'd say that the current logo worked just fine. There is really not a need to change it. Some things are timeless and don't need upgrades to appeal to more people, that's Bitcoin. People just know what that means anywayBTC

Changing the BTC logo rates right up there with when UPS (very briefly) tried changing their logo and livery color -- a TERRIBLE idea! As others have already said, the BTC logo is a well established and recognized trademark, why on God's little green earth would anyone feel there is a need/reason to change it?  ???

I don't think bitcoin is necessary for a new logo, because the current logo is already worldwide, almost like the dollar logo, everyone knows. And also what's wrong with the current bitcoin logo, I'm afraid if we ask it to be changed it could affect the popularity of bitcoin. So in my opinion there is no need to create a new logo.

The Logo represents & translates your product and business. It should be graceful, attractive, and heart-touching.
Although the current LOGO of bitcoin is not bad but the search Looking for the best should continue.
As you have seen the LOGO of Microsoft windows that not changed but improved in every version of the windows. This effort is still ongoing. So the effort for a much-improved LOGO of bitcoin should continue.
