Title: [OCT 2020] Thread for your chipmixer sig campaign rants
Post by: NotATether on October 13, 2020, 06:57:38 PM
Making this thread for only because I feel bad for DarkStar_ having to wade through all the drama posts in his signature thread, so I'm trying to redirect all the complaints to this thread (not that there really is anything to complain about TBH, I myself don't have any problems with the application process and thus there's nothing for me to vent here, but apparently others do.)

It's not working so I'm locking this like everyone here wants me to do.

I think, DarkStar_ is paid for this job. Also, if he need assist, I see no reason he should not open such a topic.
An opening new discussion is unnecessary, especially if we know that the selection process still not started. We’re just creating even more drama around one signature campaign.

I think, DarkStar_ is paid for this job.
DarkStar_ is paid for managing the campaign, not for tolerating the drama going on that thread and it's all the time. If I were the CM, may be I would make the thread self moderated and wouldn't allow single post other than application and some other post which makes sense. But the posts (drama actually) we see all the times when ChipMixer have an open slot, isn't necessary at all, not at least for that thread.
It's good that OP has created this thread and would be pretty good if all the off topic shits for that thread go here.

Self mod is probably a bad idea. Off topic posts can be reported to mods (like my doorbusting gif above) but discussing the campaign itself inside the thread should be ok. Where else would you suggest to do it? Having multiple threads for the same "service" is technically against the rules too.

Where's the need of putting pressure on mods for this? Posts in that threads are okay so long as it discuss about the campaign itself but most of the times, it's all about some drama than campaign itself although this time, it's yet to start in full race I think. If I'm correct, there was so much of it last time, or the previous one, and this drama should be out of that topic in my opinion. A topic in reputation is best place like this one.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about? People are complaining in a signature campaign thread? Chipmixer has open slots? Darkstar is too incompetent to make a decision on whom to add?

Come on guys, it's a freaking signature campaign. Darkstar will make his decision and move on. There are plenty of open spots in other campaigns. Not sure why anyone thought this thread was needed at all, nor why anyone would think Darkstar cannot handle the task of adding a few members to a campaign.

To be fair, I did manage to divert all the off topic arguing on the application thread over here since the thread creation. I didn't want more posts like that to leak there because it adds to the noise.

I'll lock this topic when the selection topic is over because this thread will be useless after that.

If I were the CM, may be I would make the thread self moderated and wouldn't allow single post other than application and some other post which makes sense.
I can certainly see the reasoning behind that suggestion, but I'd prefer to see campaign threads not be self-moderated.  What would be better is if the campaign manager made some local rules so that if/when members started breaking them, he'd have good ground to stand on if he reported the offending post(s).

I haven't visited the Chipmixer campaign thread lately, but based on what I've read so far in this one there's some drama a-brewing over some applications?  I'm not asking anyone to answer that, as I'll probably un-ignore the Services section and take a look at DarkStar_'s thread and see for myself.

Darkstar is too incompetent to make a decision on whom to add?
If that's one of the arguments being bandied about, I'd have to strenuously disagree with it.  If he ever did a piss-poor job of selecting participants, it sure isn't reflected in the current roster.  I'd also point out that DarkStar_ is extremely selective when choosing from a pool of applicants.  I got rejected once, and I've heard other members have been rejected multiple times before getting in.  TL;DR: he's fuckin' good.

It's useless already.
Here is more discussion about the need for this topic, more than what you intended to assist in this campaign.

I don't think you understood well here. yahoo62278 does not doubt his competence here. He asked to OP and other members here, who think there is a need for extra topics to help DarkStar_ in his selection.

I think there are some tools that may help his selection

For example
Loycev Has this service

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5273876.0

I also made this tool , merit table where he can see where each applicant earnes or spent their merits

I did understand, but perhaps my post wasn't clear.  I knew Yahoo62278 wasn't accusing DarkStar_ of incompetence; I was wondering out loud whether that was being discussed (by any members, not Yahoo62278 specifically) in the campaign thread, and I thought I'd add my $0.02 about DarkStar_'s excellent reputation as a campaign manager and choosy applicant selector.

Having said that, I'm going to go do what I said I was going to, which is to visit the Chipmixer thread.  Can't wait!

Chipmixer open signature campaign in bitcointalk forum is the same like United States presidential debate before elections.  ;)

I am sure DarkStar_ and other members know how to report offtopic and rant posts for moderators to delete.
