Title: Exchange recommendations? Post by: Bitcoin_Mafia on March 24, 2014, 03:09:31 AM Hi there...
I've been using Cryptsy since I got started in digital currency (a whopping 6 months ago) and for the *most* I've been okay with them. There have been some hiccups along the way but until now I haven't really considered switching. I've read so much about them lately that is negative that it makes me nervous. Can anyone recommend an alternative exchange with a wide variety of alts? Thanks, Cynthia Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: Bonam on March 24, 2014, 06:28:11 AM I've used BTC-E in the past and haven't gotten screwed by them yet. Whatever exchange you do use, make sure to be careful, and only hold any currency on the exchange for as long as you are trading it, never just let your coins sit there, since any exchange can be shut down at any time, without warning.

Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: Bitcoin_Mafia on March 24, 2014, 11:20:56 PM Cryptsy is a quite good exchange to trade altcoins I use Cryptsy currently. It's kind of scary when a couple hundred thousand (or in one case a couple million) of a given altcoin disappears from my balance with no warning b/c there was a problem w/ the blockchain and Cryptsy disabled trading of that coin with no announcement. I've also had instances where support tickets went unanswered for weeks. Don't get me wrong, I love the variety on the site. It's the bumps in their operation that make me nervous. Cheers, Cynthia Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: pakerybie on March 25, 2014, 02:58:40 AM Kraken has a good reputation and just recently proved it holds 100% of all deposited bitcoins.

I heard vircurex is freezing accounts..! can't substantiate the claims but will warn you about what I heard ..! Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: softron on March 25, 2014, 07:45:02 AM I recomend cryptsy.
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: hilariousandco on March 25, 2014, 07:48:29 AM No exchange is without hiccups and normally have horror stories from a lot of people. It's hard to trust theory their stories and exchanges though, but that's always the risk with trading.
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: sudoku on March 25, 2014, 10:44:44 AM Mintpal has a good variety of coins and I have not had any problems using it.
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: CoinToTheMax on March 25, 2014, 10:51:58 AM cryptsy is big and good.

I am a bit worried about my LTC there now :( Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: Sindelar1938 on March 25, 2014, 02:52:44 PM Coinbase, bitstamp and with caveats btc- e
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: pbj sammich on March 25, 2014, 03:23:58 PM For Alt currencies, I think Crypsty and BTC-E.
Just be smart with whatever exchange you choose. Remember it's not a wallet, if you dont need to have funds there to actively trade, dont keep them there! Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: Hexah on March 25, 2014, 03:38:20 PM BTC-e is my choise :) Always on time, slightly old design but still...
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: sana8410 on March 25, 2014, 05:44:47 PM My suggestions are BTC-E, Crypto-trade and BTER.
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: softron on March 25, 2014, 10:58:37 PM I recomend cryptsy. better to deal with bugs than being scamed out of ur coins Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: french684 on March 25, 2014, 11:27:53 PM I've used BTC-e and Kraken. They were both pretty good. Cryptsy is too slow and buggy.
Title: Re: Exchange recommendations? Post by: energion on March 26, 2014, 02:04:19 AM MintPal has been very smooth for me, never had an issue. BTER as well and my deposits/withdrawals have always been very fast with them. The thing I wonder about with Cryptsy is, they probably have the most experience or more than the younger exchanges, if they are temporarily disabling coins maybe there is a good reason like a fork on the network.
