Title: User continually deleting and reposting the same posts - for mod review please
Post by: o_e_l_e_o on October 22, 2020, 09:52:31 PM
I'm mostly making this thread because it is too much info to include a standard report.

User in question: travwill (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=214663)
Archive of all posts: https://loyce.club/archive/members/21/214663.html

I read a post by this user because it bumped a thread in my watchlist. I was 100% sure I had read it before but couldn't find any matches for plagiarism. On closer inspection, he is deleting his own posts (no entries appearing on modlog) and then reposting the exact same posts. I assume he is doing this to farm his signature campaign with zero effort.

There are more examples (in fact, all of his recent posts), but you get the picture.

In my opinion this is more than worthy of a ban. Could a mod please review and action as appropriate? I will also PM the relevant signature campaign manager with a link to this thread.

Yes, it seems he did that for signature weekly stake, as you can read their manager said about min 10 post/week,

Hi, thanks for your interest!

1: 10 posts per week

2: Posts in sub-forums where the signature is not active do not count. The local, gambling, and service sub-forums do not count - exceptions can be made by the bounty manager.

We can also search his name on bounty spreadsheet  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NuQm3prE2OiKQI1w980d5R8QXGweznudP-VHfAL7Pf4/edit#gid=0
and from that, we can see he has completed week 3 (Oct 12-18) but in fact, when we see his post history, there are only 4 posts (he has deleted 6 posts and then will re-post those 6 post  to fullfill the min post on this week)

In my opinion this is more than worthy of a ban.

LOL I thought you know better than that. WildShark was doing it for years (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1600020), before finally getting a temp ban. Korner is doing it with a bunch of accounts. Still going strong.

Free speech dude. But I admire the effort and wish you luck.

Hi mate,

thanks a lot for sending me a PM! :)

Send you some merit, banned the user from the sig campaign and tagged him!

Thanks for the quick response criptix. Since a ban seems unlikely as suchmoon has pointed out, this seems like the best outcome.

I'll lock this thread.
