Title: Do your own research before opting-in
Post by: Rowenta on October 31, 2020, 06:33:31 AM
Be careful with altcoin bounties, they are mostly scam, I'm not saying all of them are but majority of them are not making sense, make sure you don't just join bounties without proper analysis, the most annoying ones are DeFi bounties, full of projects with no team information, do your part and save your time and energy.

Got it, I'm pretty sure many are already aware, there are some bounties in altcoin section that have no team, I wonder what gives the bounty hunters confidence to promote such projects, they are always in finance or DeFi crap, I'm sure ain't taking the bait, I suggest others should do the same

This is why airdrops and bounties are for risk takers regardless of the outcome. You can’t stop these bounty hunters from wasting their time in being greedy, as they really care less about the anonymous team, etc. I can see that most of the projects ending with “Finance” are scammish and doesn’t have unique concept about yield farming, staking, etc., and making their team anonymous. Not even Uniswap listing could prove that they are for real, because there are some fake DeFi projects out there who are dumping their coins and tokens on Uniswap.

Nothing is perfect here. I suggest that you guys should not make airdrops and bounties your full-time job or career. Been there done that, and it’s my mistake. You should be doing more than just being an airdropper or bounty hunter. You can apply as an ambassador in their projects (but make sure that they pay you fair and square), or look for some crypto jobs that could pay you in Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, etc., that would support your daily needs especially in this pandemic. Just don’t accept a full-time job or ambassador work that they can only give you shit coins or tokens that are not tradeable (or even dumped) every month.

Doing more research and not carelessly joining in a bounty is highly recommended.  for example, this "Yearn Insurance" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5276747.0) project, this project was detected to end up a scam because they had deleted their telegram.  Currently, the DeFi hype makes a lot of con artists not want to miss the moment to commit fraud.  so, always be careful..

True, we shouldn't depend on bounties and Airdrops since there is no guarantee of getting anything in return but I believe it's still worth taking a shot at, there are many success stories of bounty hunters who made insane amount of dollars, anyways, my own advice is to avoid rushing to promote projects, take your time finding clues, no one is chasing you so calm down and do your own research

Will be and always a timeless reminder to each and everyone of us here who were actively participating in any altcoin bounties. It is so sad thinking that those scammers were just making those nonsense campaign leaving active participants hung up there without knowing that their effort will be useless. I already became a victim, which i ever did not realize that i am already in their trapped. And from this experience of mind it taught to be more careful and become wise enough to join in each bounties.

Yeah and bounty section is full of such bounty campaigns, it can be easily judged that these projects and campaigns are scam.
I hope hunters will avoid such campaigns as they will not result in any reward, I have learnt the hard way by wasting time  and money on such campaigns i hope no more people will fall for these programs.

yes you are right, before taking part in the bounty or airdrop it is best to do some research, before deciding to join, I have already felt a number of bounties and airdrops on telegram were quite a scam, some of them left their projects on the distribution date

joining a bounty campaign is same with investing our time to the project
because if we joining any bounty campaign, we must have an extra time to doing the task mate,,
so, before people join any bounty, they must doing a deep research, just like if we want to drop our money to the project wich mean invest

Who will want to build a house without first make enquiries about the house (plan) he want to build,so also is opting in to any bounty campaign or investment,research about the campaign is a crucial and critical step which must first be taken in order to know the legitimacy of it,rushing into a campaign without proper research is a mistake which eventually may end in regret.

I have joined and promoted atleast 2 to 3 defi based bounty campaigns but the result is that i have not received bounty reward tokens from any of such campaign so i do think the same and we should avoid incomplete looking or low quality projects.

Anyone that just jump into any project all in the name of joining campaign and promising huge reward is likely going to waste his/her time with the project. I have always advice that you should carry projects you believe you can invest your own money into, if you don't see your time as an investment then good luck

of course bro, I will do some research before joining the bounty because if it's wrong then I won't get anything, and it's true what you say if Defi is now very much hanging around the bounty, of course 90% of them are just scammers

I also see that the majority of bounties are scams and should be aware of before participating in a bounty without research because it is just a waste of time promoting fake projects. Hope you follow the progress of the project and make sure the project is working according to the roadmap.

You must be new here, the bounty projects are nonsense for the experienced forum member, IMHO. There are better ways to waste the time and money because the investors never chase the bounty rewards if there is a higher potential for making money in investing. The ROI of 10% is better than getting the bounty rewards after 6 months of delay. DEFI and other new projects are mostly scams, better don't even pay attention to such projects. If there are proper ways to make money why I have to waste my time with additional stuff? Bounty scams increase every day just for this reason. Just my 2 cents.

Just as someone needs to research on every project before investing, in the same way and energy, there is need to study every bounty before joining in order not to waste your time. Talking about scam projects, it can be any project, be it  DeFi or otherwise, but with DeFi being the latest trend, there is need to be careful because the higher attention is still on it. Also, Defi stands for Decentralized Finance thus making the project team to act anonymous, but this can also be bad because exit scams can easily happen, groups deleted and the community will be left in the dark with no one to hold accountable. Nevertheless, although there are good DeFi projects out there, however it is also important to study any of them thoroughly before participating be it in bounty or otherwise.

Looks like it is a pattern i am talking about the big trends and connection to bull runs. Last time back in 2016-17 there was huge trend of icos where billions were invested and then a huge bull run and this time we had defi boom so looks like next big bull run is just getting started now.

That's the pattern if we're going to compare it back then. And you can see that the effect took already when bitcoin reaches $13,000 and likely to cross $14,000 anytime soon. Back then, there were a lot of scam ICOs that got out after the bull run so it was around 2018. Today, likely the small bullish turn hasn't ended but the Defi projects are becoming more and turning to scam. OP is right that every bounty hunter must check and validate first the bounty and the project itself before joining.

In fact, it is true, the DeFi project hype, scammers are trying to drain investors' money through the DeFi project, which has no clear progress and prospects for the future. they're just trying to get investors' attention with a good rewad. best way to avoid it "do deep research and always be careful, if suspicious leave it"

Trusted manager wont work on a project with no team information so I still believe on them and I can work with some bounties but I have to agree on most of the project are scam and very few succeeded. Bounty work sometimes is stressful, its our job to look for those good project and bounties so newbies have to remember on always do your research before joining and participating, same with your investments.

If you clearly analyze a bounty, do proper research, yes it may help you from wasting your time joining and participating in such bounty campaigns.
There are also some bounty campaigns that do not scam for their bounties just like, yes they are giving rewards for participants and it is ontime and exact upon the rates. But what becomes SCAM in some ways, is the project itself, like the value of their project, started to dump and dump and the value of your bounty tokens become worthless. This is the worst part of being a bounty hunter.

This is true a lot of defi bounty project right now and it is very important to do an analysis and proper research before joining in. We have experience to get scam, and to get nothing in return that our effort of joining a bounty was useless. We must do our part to be responsible because in the end we will be the one will suffer so never again to experience of scam bounties.

Your effort will pay what you have done, if you just following other people suggestion or even you just pick one project but you don't make an analsyt against it then tge reward that you get will be equal as you did.

But, when you have done many things and you know the ins and out of the project that you will be promoted then a chance to gain profit as you want will be widely open. A good project will back to the its all time high although the price facing a dumped before.

I've invested a DeFi project and buying it when the presale start, I believe to the project will have a high price in the future because its system will be choosen by most crypto user so I decided to hold it although it was dumped. And now, its price trying to recover step by step.

Look for projects that have strong foundation like the team and if possible, working platform. Also, check the credibility of the BM also. Is he the kind of BM that accepts any kind of project or he has the reputation that only accepts legit and good ones? But of course, it doesn't rely entirely with the BM, because you need to check the project's development on your own and assess if it has the capability to implement their objectives.

Never promote that have anonymous developers and team members, when the ICO projects started everyone was adamant about having their privacy even though they were collecting millions of dollars and then we saw a huge percentage of scammers followed the route and billions are lost and that is happening in DeFi.

Too many scam projects about DeFi, it should be a lesson not to easily get caught up in DeFi projects,
some analysis to avoid a scam project including looking at the profile and background of the team, try to look for details and make sure directly whether the profile is real or not, because now there are many fraudulent LinkedIn accounts that use other people's identities.

We should stop looking at whitepapers and roadmaps from new projects, this can easily be put together, we should focus more on the team and the project utilities, this two are more important than whitepaper, gone are those days where you can judge a project by it's whitepaper and roadmap

It is right if you always research first for the new project to find if that project is worth to invest because if you don't research, you will end up getting scam of that project.
Many new projects out there, but only a few of the projects that can succeed at the end of the campaign, and I am sure you don't want to get scammed by them.
If you can not get more information about the project, you don't have to force yourself to invest in that project because you will lose your money in the wrong project.
It is better to search for another project which can have the potential to succeed in the future.
If you invest in one project and the price does not increase, you need to be patient because not many projects can lift the price quickly. Maybe you need to watch the token to know where the market is and sell the token when the price increases.

It is better to do your research first before spending time and energy on them for weeks or even months.

Bounty project these days are disgusting the majority of them are scammers where many of the investors and bounty hunters are not being paid, well while researching try to get more and more information about the project like checking their white paper, go to their website and check their promises normally I avoid projects that rely on hype and big promises. Why do people keep complaining about how most bounties are a scam and yet when I look at the bounty pages of this forum I see 20+ pages of people who applied to each and everyone of them? I would totally understand if people were talking about how it is risky or anything as well but they are just applying there.

I mean how could we talk about so many scam bounty campaigns and there is like 10 topics everyday about how bounty management must be escrowed and so forth while also still having 20+ pages of applicants for each bounty?

This is why I do not think anything will change in the crypto bounty market, projects could scam everyone and the next time it happens there will still be people applying, I can start a project and scam bounty hunters by not paying them and restart it a week later and still find bounty hunters. Until we stop applying to the ones that provide no guarantee, we will always be scammed.

Bounty managers reputation is one of the factors when picking your bounty hunting, well known manager do also their research regarding to the team

that they'll be working with, they won't forsake their reputations just for some penny, looking to this factor will bring a good idea which project to support

plus doing your deeper research pays well to find what project to work with and support.

No doubt about this, everything your saying is true, I think it advisable to always do a research about any bounty campaign before joining, but sadly many bounty hunters don't do this, they just go in blindly cus the bounty campaign seems real and they hope to get a reward at the end, some even if the bounty manager is a newbie and is being flagged for one thing or the other they don't care, they just go on to participate and help promote the scam project without getting paid at the end,so its best we do a research before participating in any bounties cus alot of them are scam and won't pay at the end.

Indeed. Many people waste a lot of time participating and joining bounty campaigns because not all are worthy of our time and energy. They mostly end up scam and unsuccessful, and they have delays in distributing rewards. So it is much better to join in some signature campaigns and other ways that you can earn in the crypto world, such as trading and investing cryptocurrency.

that is the risk of becoming a bounty hunter, but I agree with you if we have to analyze the bounty that we want to join and I personally always analyze several factors before I joined the bounty, that is:
1. the rules for the bounty must be clear and fair;
2. the idea of the project must be good and useful for the future;
3. the team must be quick and active in responding to investors;
4. the team is always updating information about the project;
5. the project must run in accordance with the roadmap that has been made.

They adhere to ancient traditions,
Joining all the existing bounties, 1 to 2 of them will definitely pay fair. The rest, make negative reviews on the forum.

You won't be surprised if every week there will be hunter complaints about improper payments, falling prices, not paying, changing rules or scam projects. They would rather do it all than do any previous research.

Of course outline should spend some time and research carefully before deciding to join any bounty campaign .
Because even though they are not spending money they are spending a lot of time (atleast a month) for promoting the project and their reward depends on how well the project will do in future.
