Title: Bitgofly core trustworthy or not??
Post by: CryptoLordguru on October 31, 2020, 11:17:15 AM
Does anyone know about the bitgofly core (bitgofly.io)?? Is it totally safe and trustworthy? Please tell me your experience. I have downloaded the wallet and trying to sync with the network which is taking a lot of time. it is already 24 hours and the network has only reached 66%. Hence, it made me worried and came here seeking reviews on it but I couldn't find any.

It's a scam. If you deposited funds or used your seed on their page, I'm afraid your funds have been stolen. I would suggest you wipe your computer.

A user got scammed by the same method some time ago, the website had the same design, and pages as the one you're referring to, just a different name: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5243940.0

Thanks. It was really helpful. However, I took measures and was trying to check in my very old useless laptop which has no information at all :)

I opened the site that OP stated above it seems copy-pasted from the website of https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/.

I searched the URL on who.is and this is what I've got.

It's absolutely a scam site.  Don't you ever download and input your private key.  It might wipe out your entire balance if there is.
If you already downloaded, make sure you didn't transfer your fund there.  Uninstall and clean your device immediately, I suspected you might downloaded also a malware that can be lead to hacking your assets.

Guys don't experiment with wallets you know nothing about. Why use a weird Bitgofly wallet when you can use Bitcoin Core. If you don't want to download the entire blockchain, use light wallets like Electrum or another well-known client. Forget about great-looking GUIs and focus on the safety and security of your funds. I hope your tests with Bitgofly will be just that, something to cure your curiosity.

True, it was just out of curiosity.
