Title: [Closed] Rev. 2 Bitfury Bare Chips - (Up to 3.8 Gh/s)
Post by: BitcoinValet on March 24, 2014, 09:58:04 AM
This is a group buy for 2,600 bare Revision 2 Bitfury chips (Up to 3.8Gh/s) at a total cost of €7,800 (~$10,764)
These are raw ASIC chips used in the production of mining hardaware, not a functional miner.
BitfuryStrikesBack.com has the chips in stock and they will ship when paid.

I do not represent BitfuryStrikesBack in any way.
I buy these chips to assemble into working miners. I put together this group buy by request and to get a good price for smaller quantities.
If you want to purchase a full pack, contact them directly. You will get a better price and direct shipping.

*Update 4/1* 1 vac pack has been ordered. I am selling 400 of the 1,000 chips I purchased for myself. Pricing info is the same.

Payment will be accepted in BTC, as that's how the payment will be sent.

Is anyone offering assembly services for bitfury boards? I love bitfury gear, but I can't do much with chips on my own.

Is anyone offering assembly services for bitfury boards? I love bitfury gear, but I can't do much with chips on my own.

I've helped several people turn their chips into working NF1 / NF2 boards (including almost literally hand-holding through the entire process).
Depending on how quickly you want the magic to happen it takes on average 2-4 weeks from end to end (the moment you decide you get the chip till you have hashing boards).

Feel free to PM me if interested. If it turns out there are a lot of people interested I may set up a separate thread.

I'm sure there are also other people that can help in that area too.

I reserved the 2nd spot because I was going to go into more elaborate detail on assembly service.

I can also offer assembly services for any of your boards as long as you have the design and specs ready for production. I'm assuming there's some other people on here as well, so you can likely get competitive pricing and varying levels of quality and expertise if you ask around.

The NanoFuries are probably your best option for single chip USB boards. I have done a few small runs of these myself. vs3 is actually the original designer, and I know he worked with some people from the last group buy to assemble working hardware. The best pricing is going to be on the largest quantity production runs, so if several people went in on a production deal the group would get the best overall price. If you guys form a group buy for hardware production I will be happy to supply the chips, and everyone would save on shipping among other expenses.

I know many people are interested in multi chip boards. This is something I have been working on myself and with my team, but nothing is in production yet. I think there are some open source, or pay-per-processor options out there, but I have little first hand knowledge. I know there is an H card style option out there, which also requires production of a custom M-Board. If anyone finds something they want to work with I can get a quote for assembly and help organize a group or individual production.

If this group buy goes like the last one did, it is going to attract several people with similar goals. This thread can serve as an open discussion. Whatever you are trying to do, there are other like minded people who will work with you if you reach out.

So these will probably be populated onto usb miners or 16-chip boards yes? In that case put me down for 36 (4 extra's for usb miners).

Most likely, in the sense that those are the designs currently available or being openly worked on. The only real limit is your imagination, and of course technical expertise.

One of the biggest hurdles in designing new hardware is that there is no manual that tells you to interface and communicate with the chips. So you need talented knowledgeable people to figure that out, program drivers, and make everything work together. This is why you don't see more open source designs, someone has to put a lot of time and/or money into getting the thing to work in the first place. This may be overcome with Bitmain chips, as they are releasing open source hardware documentation. I have been considering a group buy for those as well, but it is a BTC100 minimum and 6 week lead time just to get the chips. So someone would already have to have a design ready to make it worthwhile for everyone.

We did a medium run of dual chip usb miners with the last batch.
May get in on this with something similar or new.

I would be in for H-cards. I don't know which versions are available to produce. As long as M-boards would be available I'd be interested.

Roughly how much including the price of these would one have to invest to get either A. A complete single usb miner, or B. a 16 Chip miner. I usually purchase just fully assembly gear but the price on these looks pretty good. I personally have no experience in this type of assembly.

I am looking into offering manufacturing services for anyone who wants to the Nano Furies.  I have manufactured both NF1 and NF2 successfully.
I just need to be sure about the new Hex Fury and what it will take to have the 6 chip one made.
Costs - completely dependent on quantity.  But if I decide to do it I'll give a range depending on quantity to only those seriously interested.  I am the only supplier of the NF2 right now so I'm not going to be posting my costs.

UPDATE - vs3 and I will post a thread later today to gauge interest in offering manufacturing for the NF2 and/or it's soon to be big brother, NF6 (may be called something else).  We will not be supplying chips.
For more info on the NF2 if you have not seen it already look at my thread:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526925.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526925.0)

Awesom i am interested into getting the nanofury 6. What would be the speed for either the 2 or 6 chip NF usb miner be with the bitfury 2 chips?

Out of curiousity, is the 6 chip hexfury based on bitfury 1 or bitfury 2 chips?

The gen1 and gen2 chips are pin-compatible and you can use either one without any further changes.

On average the gen1 chip starts hitting the limits at around 2.4-2.7GH and the gen2 does the same at 3.2-3.5. Gen2 chips also use a bit less power.
But that's essentially all the differences.

As for the actual speed - the NF1/NF2 is designed so that it works with the little power provided by a USB2/USB3 connector and for that reason is not clocked to the max speed. However if you plug it into a powered USB hub that can provide more amps you can overclock the chips (and with the NF1/NF2 with gen1 chips get to about 2.5-2.7GH/chip). Keep also in mind that no two chips are exactly the same - they'll hit the limits at different speeds.

If the chips are compatible, is there a possibility that you could update older hardware with the newer chips, or would that require new device firmware as well?

H-Card to USB, testing with one chip and adding one by one to see when it refuses to go... hopefully MCP2210 will be able to scan 16 chips.
CGminer disables it after a minute or so... maybe its my busted usb on the laptop.
BFGminer works on another laptop.

Lets see what happends.

The first case will likely be closed out at the end of the day. Someone has contacted me to fill out the remaining chips, and I will be collecting payment.

If anyone is waiting to buy your chips, send your payment now. I will be selling chips from my share of the order, but I cannot guarantee prices or quantity.

I will do another case if there is enough demand, but going by this group buy over the past week or so, it does not seem like it will come to that.

Yes - there is such with NanoFury NF2. I have 4 panels (of 8 boards each) left.

I still have about 200 chips. I have been getting some pms about these lately, so I updated the BTC prices to match current market value.

BitfuryStrikesBack currently has their store closed, and I havent seen anyone else selling these, but if you can find a better price I will beat it.

I still have lower direct prices, and discounts for BTC buyers. I'm also considering a couple offers for a full lot of 300 at a nice discount. If you are looking for moer than a hundred chips let me know and we can work something out.
