Welcome to the forum. The coin looks great, but why do you only accept PayPal in your store? Can we order directly from you and pay in Bitcoin through the forum?

Just so you know, you must accept Bitcoin to be allowed in this section.

coins!

We love Bitcoin, and we hope you love our Physical Bitcoins as much as we enjoyed creating them.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your sales!

I have some questions:

1) in the item's description is being mentioned that "Limited Run of Series 2020-A Bitcoins" What is the total mintage?

2) Are the coins, the hologram or both, part of the limited edition series?

3)From where those are being dispatched? (ie. which continent/country)

4)If I peed the hologram, will the backside of the coin look like the photo below?

please and thank you.

Hello BCmint welcome to our forum. I am kinda like your holo.
But I am not clear how many total you created. On your online store says Limited Run of Series 2020-A Bitcoins

It is kind of vague to me, Can you clarify please? thx.

Coin from AliExpress looks reeded on edges. Coin in OP looks smooth. Is this a render or actual coin in hand? The QR code and public address look fairly badly printed on the holo.. strange striations throughout that could cause them to become unreadable in the future.. if this is hot off the press I expect the print job to be better for this price.

Also he said limited edition but never said how many. Very vague. I would be careful.

I tried to order but got the following message:

https://i.ibb.co/ysyxYJK/image.png (https://ibb.co/SvnZdpH)

but this is only for the regular coins, it will let me order the 2FA coins - is this intentional? or an error?

I am not ordering anything until Mopar issue is resolved and I find out how many total created for each kind.

Hi tweetious!

Thank you for the welcome.

1) There are 557 Series 2020-A coins.

2) When we are done with the 2020-A coins, we will make 2020-B coins then 2021-A coins. We will start a tracker similar to Anduck Coin Tracker.

https://anduck.net/bitcoin/btcc_coins.html

3) These are being shipped from Boracay Island, Philippines. Hello!

https://bcmint.com/blogs/news/introducing-the-bcmint

4)  Yes that looks like a very similar bitcoin on Aliexpress.  Ours are better and the original.  Yes the reverse of the coin has a depression for the private key insert.

Welcome to the forum.

Would have been nice to see some more creativity on the coin design. Maybe some part of your side of the world incorporated somehow for the next one?

The holo and foil side of the coin is interesting tho. I see that it rips the square foil upon release of the private key disc. neat.

After looking at the design closely, I have to say your coins are nice looking. I wish you made 200 rather than over 500 but it is entirely your decision. Do you have any plan to do any paid raffle or auction for serial number 1-5? November and December are the busiest months for Crypto Collectible. Good to see new and innovative things come out during this time.  Thank you, Rainbowsky

Hi Rainbowsky.

Thank you for the compliments on the coin.   I wish we had made 1000 coins rather than 500 :)

We are already near serial number 100; plus test coins and destroyed coins.

We will post an Anduck type tracker and listing of the coins soon.

Paid Raffle - Interesting, I like it. I will propose.

Auction - Interesting, I like it.  Do you suggest that I run an auction, or we ask a veteran member of the community to run an auction?

Thank you for your comments and interest.

updated - got the following email to support why there is a delay in shipping.

Greetings from BCmint!

Thank you for your order.

RE: BCmint Delay in shipping due to delay in coin case

Unfortunately we are still awaiting shipment of our BCmint packaging.

We think this nice case compliments the BCmint Physical Bitcoin.

We would like to offer you two options.

1. Send the BCmint Physical Bitcoin immediately without the case.

2. Wait for the estimated new shipping date of November 21 with estimated delivery in the first week of December.

Please reply with your preferred option.

In any event, we will also send a small gift in appreciation for being among the first online orders of the BCmint, and with our apologies for the delay in shipment.

Thank-you for your patience with us.

Warden
BCmint.com

I selected option 2 as it should still ship within 2 weeks.

@Warden_BCmint could you please provide us with a status update on the project?

Are the following info (still on display to your site) still valid?

PRE-ORDER NOW: SHIPPING NOVEMBER 20, 2020
ESTIMATED ARRIVAL DATE: DECEMBER 8, 2020

What's the status with the packaging? Did you dispatch all the pre-orders yet?

We are expecting our new slab packaging to arrive Friday or Monday. Once it arrives, we will ship your five coins immediately.

Again our apologies for the delay.

Looking forward to getting these coins to the Bitcointalk community!

Greetings Bitcointalk.

BCmint Physical Bitcoins are ready for shipment, but unfortunately the Display Case shipment to us has been delayed.

We have worked hard to solve this problem, and we are expecting the Display Case shipment immediately.

Our turnaround will be next day.

We would prefer to send the BCmint Physical Bitcoins in nice display cases instead of the capsules because we are sensitive that it was this collector community that made the first wave of online orders.  Additionally for anyone affected by the delay in shipment, we are sending an additional free BCmint Physical Bitcoin from our Prototype Test series.

Thanks for your patience as we start the BCmint :)

these are not the cases they will be coming in - per BCmint, the cases are supposedly nicer than the ones shown.

I can say this, when I placed my order, I also paid for some of the 2fa coins - they contacted me concerning those stating they were not ready to be sold and they refunded me for that. I think if it was a money grab, they would have just added those to the list of "delayed" coins. From what I understand, the coins are done, they are screwed waiting for cases.

No, I meant it may be another scam. I've seen many here, so you really just never know (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=2228377).

Greetings from BCmint!

Apologies for the delay. We had delays of our packaging and decals and logos.

We are sorry for the wait, but we are happy with the final product.

All BCmint.com orders are complete and will be shipped first thing in the morning.

Tracking codes will follow shortly.

We really appreciate your patience.

In addition to your 2020-A series orders, we also have included one free 2020-T series coin. These are from the TEST series of coins. There are 49 of these pre-production coins created in total. The one unique element to these test coins is that rather than the smooth edge of BCmint Physical Bitcoins, the 2020-T series coins have a gear edge. We are happy that you were among our first online orders, and we are very happy that these special TEST BCmint.com coins are going to a good home.

Again, sorry for the wait in shipping, and we are happy to report they are now on the way.

Attached is a photo of your order (in black) with samples of the finished BCmint Physical Bitcoins in Display Case on the left.

Please let us know what you think of the Physical Bitcoins once you receive them. We are eager for feedback as we are starting on 2021 series coins.

Thanks again,

Warden

Yes, a "quick money grab" was my friendly definition for a scam. I am trying to deter those insinuations, for now. Startups are challenging and public perceptions (esp here!) can easily cripple a new business by even suggesting it. I am not saying to blindly trust them, but it's too soon to make such leaps; imo.

Plus, it would be one weak ass scam using CC's and Paypal for payments. (One should build up customer trust to a $500 coin before you bounce  ;D) Either way, it looks as if they may have some early community damage control to attend to.

BCMint: Don't make me put my foot in my mouth and please provide us some good news this week! :D

The coins in the cases are awesome.

The coins were ready a month ago, but the coin slab display cases were delayed and we had issue with the BCmint.com black decal for the case.  All is resolved, but it was a stressful couple of weeks of waiting for sure!

Now we get to wait for this community's feedback. :)

Title: Re: Introducing BCmint.com Physical Bitcoins 2020
Post by: Warden_BCmint on December 27, 2020, 07:05:19 AM

Our 2020-A first shipments were slowed due to delays in receiving the coin display cases.  We thought that was the end of our growing pains.

Our turnaround time to reship the now complete BCmint Physical Bitcoins in their new (awesome) display cases was immediate, and we were excited to get these coins to their new homes.

Your BCmint Physical Bitcoins are on the way, but here is why they are so very delayed:

Unfortunately, anything that could go wrong, did go wrong with our new venture.

We are located on Boracay Island; a small tourist island in the Philippines.  As we tried to ship out our now complete BCmint Physical Bitcoins, the local shipping company refused our packages as they looked like Bitcoin. We explained and provided supporting documentation that they were not actually Bitcoin, rather a cold storage wallet with no digital currency value. The local shipping company was not persuaded.

Instead, we loaded all the orders in a single box and put them on a commercial flight to Manila.  Surely here we could then ship our orders around the world.

The bitcoin gods were going to make us sweat, and it was not to be.

Once in the Manila, shipping companies would not let us export our souvenir novelty coins. We completed paperwork, opened corporate shipping accounts, and tried to speed through compliance.

Nothing was moving fast enough, and we were already so late…

We needed to get these coins to the closest country with world class shipping and courier services; Taiwan.

Again the box of orders was again put on an airplane; this time sent to Taiwan.

It has just arrived and is being sent to individuals around the world.

We are over a month late with our 2020-Alpha coins, and we are incredibly embarrassed and stressed.

Our sincere apologies.

Your coins are now definitely on the way.

Moving forward for the BCmint

It is now clear that there is a future for BCmint Physical Bitcoins and we are excited for what lies ahead.

2020-A coins will have a 1 month shipping timeframe. The remaining 2020-A coins will need to be shipping “the old way”

We plan to continue selling 2020-A coins until February or March 2021.

Moving into 2021-A Physical Bitcoins

We now look towards our 2021-A coin. Our priorities are to make a few very small improvements to the Physical Bitcoins; the metal coin and the hologram seal.

Most importantly, in the context of this message, we will stock one fulfillment address in the USA, and one fulfillment center in the EU so that orders can be immediately and timely.

2020-A Physical Bitcoins will be sent slowly with a 1 month delivery time frame while supplies last.

2021-A Physical Bitcoins will be shipped normally and professionally through fulfillment centers in the USA/EU with sales starting in Q2-2021.

We look forward to this community’s feedback on the 2020-A BCmint Physical Bitcoins once you receive them. Sorry for the long wait. We hope you feel that they are worth it.  Your understanding is tremendously appreciated.

Merry Christmas,

Thanks for the update.

I have some questions:

As we tried to ship out our now complete BCmint Physical Bitcoins, the local shipping company refused our packages as they looked like Bitcoin. We explained and provided supporting documentation that they were not actually Bitcoin, rather a cold storage wallet with no digital currency value. The local shipping company was not persuaded.

1) How the local shipping company figured out that those coins look like Bitcoin?

2) How a Bitcoin looks like?  ;D

3) You provided some envelopes with the content description "souvenir novelty tokens" (in the customs declaration form), and the shipping company figured out that the content is bitcoin? How?

4) Did they open the parcel/envelope for inspection, saw the content (display case & coin), and figured out that those are bitcoins?

5) You labelled the display case as "Physical bitcoin" and also the bubblewrap envelopes as "Physical bitcoin". Did "the local shipping company refused our packages as they looked like Bitcoin" OR because they were labelled as "physical bitcoin"?  ::)

6) You sent something labelled as "physical bitcoin" and then tried to explain that it is not "physical bitcoin", but something else?  ???

Again the box of orders was again put on an airplane; this time sent to Taiwan.

It has just arrived and is being sent to individuals around the world.

We are over a month late with our 2020-Alpha coins, and we are incredibly embarrassed and stressed.

1) Why we did not receive a tracking number for our parcel yet (since those were already sent)?

2) Will we receive a tracking number for our parcel?

Merry Xmass & a happy new year!

Hi tweetious.
Please let me reply to your questions  below:

Warden
BCmint.com

1) How the local shipping company figured out that those coins look like Bitcoin?

2) How a Bitcoin looks like?

Yes, the shipping company opened and inspected.

Yes, they opened the package, and look down at a big beautiful ₿ looking right back up at them

5) You labelled the display case as "Physical bitcoin" and also the bubblewrap envelopes as "Physical bitcoin". Did "the local shipping company refused our packages as they looked like Bitcoin" OR because they were labelled as "physical bitcoin"?

6) You sent something labelled as "physical bitcoin" and then tried to explain that it is not "physical bitcoin", but something else?  Huh

The declaration and argument was that it was not actual Bitcoin, rather a physical representation of the digital currency; without actually storing any currency.  They were not persuaded. Yes the issue was that it LOOKS like what they think of as bitcoin.

1) Why we did not receive a tracking number for our parcel yet (since those were already sent)?

2) Will we receive a tracking number for our parcel?

We were shipping these commercial on airlines (twice) as a big box containing all the first wave of online orders from mid-November to mid-December. Our friend/partner is shipping the individual packages to end customers from Taiwan.  As soon as we get the log of tracking numbers, we will send that all waiting customers.  I know you have all been amazingly patient; please give us a couple more days to sort out the tracking numbers.

Merry Xmas & a happy new year!

Happy Holidays as well. Again thank you for your understanding and patience. Very much appreciated, and hope that the the final product received is well worth the wait :)

@Warden_BCmint thanks for replying to my questions.

I really appreciated the fact that you communicated with us what happened & for your dedication to finding alternatives for delivering the parcels.

I guess that lessons learned, and 2021-A coin batch "will be shipped normally and professionally through fulfillment centers in the USA/EU " as you said.

Thankfully I paid through PayPal, going to give it another week before I open up a claim

This all smells like a scam

yea, it does not look good but it seems like a lot of work for very little rewards if it is a scam.

And my last email response from them was 12/15 so almost a month.

[This message only applies to those who ordered before December 17, 2020]

Hello BCmint.com customer.

To our great disappointment, we are sorry to inform you that your order has been further delayed.

It is unbelievable that our order has been in secondary inspection in Taiwan customs for nearly 3 weeks, and has not departed Taiwan for final recipient.

We have been waiting for updates from DHL/Taiwan customs in order to update you, but the continual reply has been to wait a few more days..

It seems unreasonable for us to plead for continued patience, but we ask for your consideration once again.

Again we would like to offer a complete refund immediately, or please excuse us once more as we ask for just a little more patience.

We too are learning with our startup; we just had no idea that shipping would be our largest issue.

New 2020-A Physical Bitcoin orders effective January 13 will have a 1 month shipping delay as we move all our shipping to US fulfillment through www.usafill.com/. (This is a change as originally we were going to ship 2020-A coins the old way)

New 2021-A Physical Bitcoin launch will be delayed until we have our shipping all sorted out.

Again, please excuse the delay.

It's really disheartening for us too.

"as we move all our shipping to US fulfillment through www.usafill.com/"

Seems like overkill for what you are doing.
I would imagine the cost for this service will off-set any profits or even cost you more money than it's worth when all is said and done.

The decision was that the way we are shipping now from the BCmint is too slow and problematic and is negatively affecting customer experience.

The key is that we are shipping quality product fast.  We need to build a positive review base, create loyal fans that help us through "word of mouth", and just make a professional product purchase experience as positive as possible.

The plan is to make 2020-A coins, then 2021-A coins, maybe a 2021-B coin if things are going well, then a 2022-A coin.. and so forth; we are looking at the longer opportunities.

Currently shipping is the problem, so we are going to solve this for the remaining 2020-A orders, which will continue until March or while we have stock.

For the 2021-A orders, we will launch only after all our delivery issues are resolved.

The point is we are looking long term, and the short term profit is immaterial.

received mine today. 6 regular A series coins and 1 T series coin.

These slabs are huge! The look great - only issue I saw was the holos applied to the slabs appears to have a tendency to come off/unpeeled as you can see that a few are already showing the honeycomb pattern. None were fully falling off but all of them have where edges were pulled back. This is most likely due to the edge/lip of the slab, might be hard to overcome that without having a holo that overlaps the front/back.

The coins appear to be the same size as the 2016 BTCC 1 BTC coins.

How the 2021-A series coins will differentiate from the 2020-A?
Pictures and description are exactly the same (I assume 2021-A pic & text is just a placeholder).

Could you please elaborate if the 2021-A coins & hologram will remain exactly the same as 2020-A  & only the print on the hologram will change? (distinguishing them from 2020-A)

Hi Tweetious!

Thanks for the questions.

1. The metal portion of the coin is the same; maybe a slightly higher quality because we now are using printing plates.

2. The hologram is similar but with some changes. It's a new and improved run of holograms:

The small diagonal "BC" is removed.
2021 is embedded in the microprint detail.
The printed public key is a larger and clearer font.
The tamperproof hologram honeycombs

We will get some professional photos out in the near future.

You can see what's happening in the microprint here:

Thank you for the updates and the work on these Warden. The coins are beautiful and I love my T series. Personally, I actually prefer the gear edge of the test series. It makes it feel more like a coin than a medallion. I look forward to seeing your future designs.

Does anyone know if something happened with the Warden_BCmint ?

I've placed an order through their website and made a payment, he wrote me once asking if I paid and disappeared.

I don't think he's a scammer, so far I bought several from him put several thousands of dollars worth of BTC in the coins and nothing has been stolen out of it yet.  There could be a lot of personal reasons so i wouldn't rush to that conclusion.

Bud, DO NOT store bitcoin in these coins.  It's no offense to them, but you don't know who they are and whether they saved the private keys or not.  They could easily have done so and take off with your coins and you'll not be able to do a damn thing about it (again I am NOT calling them scammers, but as with any collectibles, especially ones that have not been around long, where the makers aren't known, is a major and unnecessary risk).  Collect the coins for fun, but do not store bitcoin on them.  Buy yourself a Trezor or ColdCard and store it on there.  You are putting this money at risk for no reason at all.  Trust in coins like this is earned over a long period of time and even then it still carries a HIGH level of risk.  It would be foolish not to peel those and put the money on a hardware wallet.

@Mopar- have you heard from them since early Dec when you placed an order, and have you received the order yet?

Last I heard from them was in Dec - and the order I placed was almost a year ago but was a specific coin number so it was set aside and is awaiting the next stateside shipment - which should be this month.

Don't know if he is a scammer or not, my current theory is that something happened to him, most probably COVID.
At this point I believe that my $250 in BTC are lost.

Last time I've heard from him was 11/Jan/2022

His message was :

Hello there!

Did you just make a BTC payment?

I did payment on 9/Jan/2022

Im not condemning warden and calling him an exit scammer.

I just have some questions that we as community need to answer.

1. How can we mitigate this type of situation happening in the future?

2. What happens if one of the coin manufactures just drops off the face of the earth and doesn't stop in here for a few years? Do you peel or do you still trust?

3. What steps would a coin creator need to take in order to have his customers trust in his product?

These are indeed good solid questions asked.

All I can tell you is this. Unless you have generated the keys yourself, there will never be 100% guarantee your coins are safe from being swept someday.

Its all a matter of trust and to be honest, I would not buy anything with any large amount of BTC on them unless its from the OGs in the early days such as Cas...Bitbills.

Any new additions I will buy with a minute amount of BTC that I am willing to lose if it came to it without losing sleep over it.

That's the nature of our hobby...its all based on trusting the coinmaker and that the private keys will not be swept.

Agreed, can't really trust anyone selling things on here and I do the same putting in portion of my paycheck to these coins.  If the creator scams it will suck but I will still be comfy sleeping at night.

Why take the risk? There’s also a big difference between risking your bitcoin in these coins and risking your bitcoin with coins like Casascius or Kialara who are both two well known makers , everyone knows there names and roughly their location with years of trust built up..all that matters.

1. How can we mitigate this type of situation happening in the future?  - Really isn't any way of doing this as far as I can think of.

2. What happens if one of the coin manufactures just drops off the face of the earth and doesn't stop in here for a few years? Do you peel or do you still trust? - depends on the situation and the level of trust or lack thereof that the maker has built up

3. What steps would a coin creator need to take in order to have his customers trust in his product? The basics, maker should be prepared to happily explain how keys were created by explaining the entire process. Casascius / Mike Caldwell was big on transparency.  He made it well known who he was and where he lived as he felt it was an important part of building up the trust issue. Transparency is key IMO.

4 months with no contact for some now  (& just of what we know from users here on this forum, could be many more).  Negative trust left.

Again, unless you enjoy being scammed, don’t load these coins. If you have, peel them!  Even if you’re willing to lose the coins in theory, you’re essentially funding a scammer operation. At this point it should be beyond obvious no coins should be loaded in these. Listen to those with experience.

Coinomi or ballet wallets make it pretty easy.

Hello Bitcointalk!

I am so sorry, I wasn't checking here.

It's not covid, rather covid restrictions are opening up, and we are back to busy in real life (finally); in particular the last 3 weeks.

We have not yet started on the 2022-A coins yet for the same reasons; apologies for that. Will get an update on this very soon as we were supposed to start minting them already.

With everything being said, we also agree that you should not store any material amount of BTC anywhere that you did not generate the keys yourself safely.  BCmint.com Physical Bitcoins are more of a fun novelty item to share or trade or introduce Bitcoin to others with.....

Someone will get assigned to specifically monitor the forums.

Thanks for the email drawing my attention to this thread.  Super embarrassing guys.  :-[

I'll reread though the rest of the comments and see if anything needs to be actioned.

Well I certainly appreciate that you've come back to address these issues.  I will happily remove my negative trust once everyone has been taken care of and made whole whether refunded or shipped coins as previously agreed upon.

I would give them at least a day or two.  As you can see they've come and addressed the issues, which I commend them for.  Not sure why they ignored requests for so long, but glad they are at least addressing it now.

as an update - my coin has arrived - note this was a special request where I asked for a specific number so they had to set it aside - The hope had been to include it with their next large shipment but COVID had causes some delays in shipping.

Warden did contact me and stated it was it on its way.

I now have my #16 trio - the standard 2020 - A and 2021 - A and then the 2020 - T coins - all number #16
