Title: Is this a scam airdrop?
Post by: Traderbtcc on November 08, 2020, 01:37:26 PM
Last week, I was going through the bounty section then I came across this Vela coin airdrop, i decided to give it a try, after filling the google form and registering on their site, I got the 200 Vela airdrop token instantly, it was in my balance on their site, but I noticed something their site UI looked just like Covir's site UI, I joined their telegram, asked a question or two the admin answered, but immediately I said their UI looked just like covir's UI the admin of the telegram group immediately deleted my comment, then after a day I got an email from them saying the minimum withdrawal from the site is 500 Vela coin and i can buy now that the price is still low at $0.05, that after 10th of November it will be selling at $0.07, come to think of it, they have me just 200 of the tokens, so I have to buy 300 of the tokens to be able to withdraw?, 300 x 0.05 = $15, so I need $15 to claim a reward of $10?

What do you guys think scam or not?
And I thought airdrops were free tokens?

Actually for me airdrop is already dead, most of the airdrop is just a waste of time and I keep avoiding it. It is not advisable to participate in airdrops anymore because most of them are just scam. Airdrop should be free but they require you to pay more in order to get the reward coin. For me it is not worth it to get that coin because you will experience loss than gain.

for me it sounded like "transfer some small amount to me and you will get your coins" which is one of the typical ways of the scammers to get some profit, imagine 100 users will going to buy that token he can get easily money for it.

I know covir and it's traded on bitforex but about vela seems to be a shady airdrop that was forcing the airdrop participants to buy more vela coin. that means vela was a garbage airdrop. It's a scam.
you should avoid to deal with vela coin.
Idk whether covid has been doing the swap or not but you can confirm this with the developer on its telegram group.

This is really a point for scammers now as they ask for small amount from all users and have some good enough funds as mostly newbies not care about this all and never check whats going on after scamm they have nothing just empty hands I am also feeling currently mostly airdrops are going for scams and shit pishing links nothing else better avoid these and have only bounties or airdrops which are good enough or have some good record on forum.

Isn't it clear to you already, they gave you 200 vela and expect you to buy 300 vela in other to be able to withdraw because they have intentionally increase the withdrawal limit more than what they have Airdrop, if they are doing this to alll members who receive the airdrop and they oblige to pay $15 to claim $10 airdrop means they are definitely scamming users or about to scam, there is a red flag here.

Yes, Airdrop is a small amount of free token which is just a waste of time because most of airdrop is either scam or no value at all. Be careful enough in joining airdrop or much better if you just avoid joining it.

Please be careful but sites like this, which I think you shouldn't expect for aridrop like this, actually these types of airdops don't exist much and we are mostly a scam project and take money and user information. But this kind of determinant airdrop I believe around 99% of people will never get anything of value, I think you should pass it on to the topic of phishing alerts for newbies.

if we must drop our money to any airdrop campaign, i suggest you to stay away
because this is not a good sign from the project, if they want to give a free token just give it, and didn't ask for eth or something else to the airdrop hunter
sometimes the project will ask to share or joining their telegram not ask to buy something with your capital

If the basis for you calling them a scam is that they only send you an amount which is lesser than their minimum withdrawal, then I don't think it is a scam. They said they will give an airdrop. Yes, it is free of course. You're not going to pay any amount as a condition for you receiving their free airdrop. And you confirm that you have received them, even almost instantly. That means they did not fail in their promise. But then the minimum withdrawal is a different story. The airdrop was a ploy but it did not make them a scam.

I know some groups earning good amount for participating in airdrop. But still I cannot considered this airdrop to be a good way to earn money all do it's free since more of them will not have value and just wasting your time for filling the forum or registering for airdrop.

But if you know you have more time to do the task and you  don't need your time then you can still join since you will lose nothing if you join it's only your time will be wasted.

I think the airdrop is a scam, I have also experienced the same thing, one of which is in the telegram bot "if you want to claim an airdrop you have to send ETH to be able to claim it" and I thought again, I didn't want it so I went and deleted it from my Telegram, and sure enough, after a few days the project that was holding the airdrop was a scam

I think it's better to ignore the airdrop. I too was the one who tried the airdrop. I also get the same email messages as you. so for me that kind of airdrop will lead to a scam. don't pay attention. leave it alone, it will only waste your time. better focus on trading and it's clear flow.
Airdrops are now different from previous airdrops, because now many people have tricked them with multi account telegram, twitter, and many more. not as pure as it used to be. Keep in mind that crypto airdrop is free crypto.

When doing airdrops or participating in airdrops, I suggest not to take them too seriously, just do the airdrops in your spare time and make the results of the airdrops a bonus because until now the results from airdrops are mostly not comparable to the tasks you have done when working on airdrops.

There are so many airdrops lately circulating especially in twitter social media. If you are not sure if it's legit or not don't invest, airdrop should be free giving to the participants and no condition to be made. I've once a victim of fraud or fake project so these days I'm not joining any and I do not trust one.

Airdrop is free, you don't need to pay anything to get the reward. It's different with ponzi scheme when they're asking to deposit first to earn money that they promise.

Anyway it's look like you're talking about this airdrop [AIRDROP] Velacoin - Adventure Time █ █ █ █🔥Game portal + Staking🔥█ █ █ █  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5280617.0)

Better to move this thread to scam acussations sections and wait for the campaign manager respond about this case.

A legit airdrop will never ask you to send some money to be able to receive your airdrop. There were so many cases about the airdrop that forced the participants to pay some money have ended as scam airdrop.
It's better avoid to deal with vela coin. This can be considered as awareness for us.
Im very glad to see you were publishing it. This will make others know about this too.

it's not the first project that ask payment in order to send out airdrop token. it's used to verify participants, it's also used to pay ETH fees.
generally as we have seen with so many ICO I will wait directly to buy in the exchange.
for sure paying 15$ to receive 10$ in tokens doesn't worth a try :(

I think you should not expect these free coins, be careful when linking emails to those websites, possibly leaking your personal information through sites like this, I also see it paying There's something special about giving you free money here, and we need to be realistic for one thing that dead airdrops are all just SCAM and SCAMS :)

The way they're advertising it is pretty shady if you ask me.

They're saying that now the price is x, but after a certain date they'll make it 2x so buy now and profit later. This is used by scammers to assure their investors of profits when whoever knows how the market works should see they will never be able to hold that price.

They can say that from now on the price of their token will be $0.7 but for that to work somebody has to buy it. If you had a token bought for 0.5 and saw it sold for 0.7 and tried to sell it but there was nobody buying what would you do? Go to the devs and say you told me it's going to trade for 7! you promised! ;D

Most of these tokens are worthless.

Are people still doing airdrops? What joy will you get when they distribute $2 for doing task and at the end, they become stuck in your wallet with zero value.
This days, you hardly make $50 in some project when you do Bounty talk more of airdrops perhaps people find joy in it since it's one time task.
That interface is is purely scam, it's a clone website of Covir and the scammer is even daft for not changing and renaming the interface.

<snip> asked a question or two the admin answered, but immediately I said their UI looked just like covir's UI the admin of the telegram group immediately deleted my comment,
Look at that behavior, you are blocked because it is very possible to expose their scam ways. If it's an honest project that can explain in detail the similarities of the UI to other platforms but they choose not to give any reason for it, the fact of the scam is very convincing for asking for an unreasonable withdrawal fee. The slightest indication of suspicion is found, the project must be avoided.
