Title: My journey from a default full member to achieved Senior member.
Post by: Gozie51 on November 11, 2020, 04:05:13 PM
Wow.... It has not been an easy journey here. To climb into a new rank in this forum, you need to do the work.

In retrospect, around  September 2018, I woke up one morning and the forum was in agog in the meta section on something introduced called MERIT (We already know about the merit system, no need that I dual on that). Reading through the introduction that morning, I had a missed feeling and nostalgic, not knowing whether to be happy or not because sincerely, I didn't understand its function then  ;D. I didn't understand that it was a mechanism that will distinguish users and make them work harder in information, support and help to forum and users.....  but I started seeing the function of merit when my account started growing in activities and with no commensurate increase in rank lol.

I remember earning 5 merit in 120 days was introduced as requirement to apply to signature campaign , this was a very difficult task then because it was not business of just posting as usual to make up activities to rank up. Therefore, I chickened out then like a dog beaten by its owner, "putting my tail in between my legs" sojourning to bounty section  ;D

My Story in Bounty Section

As if I was going to find it easy in bounty section, I got dealt with seriously with heavy blows from exit scam projects and bounty managers scamming participants in different models and tactics like new rules from KYC, change of payment address and different stories to deny you shit tokens. For more than a year or close to that in bounty section, I have wasted my effort and time, even as the bounties look genuine but you still get scammed  ;D
In the categories of bounties I participated in, their are some that got listed and distributed rewards to participants but very much shit value of less than $7 for more than 6 weeks bounty duration. Some distributed but never got listed, some exited, some distributed to their exchange and locked token from being transfered to high volume exchange and very few with little volume (Not mentioning names because most of them belong to my past and you can become better if you learn to move forward from your past).

My turn around story

Turn around to my journey here was when I was tired of being scammed by bounties, I started being active again in bitcoin board and others not bounty. And I started being picky on bounties if any, I followed reputed managers.
Being active in such boards made me to start reading on members who have ranked up, I realized many made useful posts to help give information, therefore I made google my friend.

They say the journey of 1 million mile starts in a day , I guess I didn't know this wise saying back then or I didn't allow it to sink into my head  ;D
I started my journey with very few merit at the time but I was not discouraged anymore. In my own case, I was just sailing and enjoying the ride like a ship in the deep blue sea

I may not be a top notch writer in the forum like etc ;D but I think I can understand where the was and is can be appropriate in a sentence. Humbly, I Can cross the Ts and dot the Is.

And on 9th of November 2020, I woke up to see my rank being elevated to a higher level. This time, it was not a nostalgic feeling but gladness.

At this juncture, all I have been trying to say is that I want to appreciate all who have noticed my little labour and find it good to drop smerit for me. The road to hero member looks herculean but if I double my effort, I will get there.
Thanks to you all  ;D

LESSONS FROM MY JOURNEY ON THE FORUM

The lessons are what we experience in our daily lives in the physical word, from searching for a job, life vicissitudes or going after the lady you desire  ;D

1. Consistence:
Having this not to chicken out easily will most of the time see you conquering those challenges

2. Humility and attitude:
This is important to our lifes. It takes you closer to your luck or being lucky as people would say you are a very lucky person but it is this that is operating.

3. Focusing on your strong points: Yes. The forum has many boards, do your best in the boards you can perform better

However, what I discovered was that if you make a valuable contribution to the forum, a user will appreciate it.
Don't lose hope in anything you are doing correctly ***

Thanks

I've been active on this forum since I got registered (on March) and I'll probably get the senior rank in 1 week. As far as I've dug up this place, I've noticed that members that took part in bounties found difficulties, because of the scams. You must have made a big "time out" from bitcointalk and I can see that from your registration date. If you had been making on average 1 post everyday since 2017 you would be a Legendary at the moment. (Excluding merits)

Based on my bitcoin dedication, I won't stop posting here until it's officially over. Carry on and see you on Hero rank!  ;)

Congratulations ranking up. I can only but imagine what the feeling is for you as I am in expectation of ranking up too. But I don't know when that will be as it seems am stuck on here 😂.

However, I like the part where you mentioned "LESSONS FROM MY JOURNEY ON THE FORUM". All three points are on point!

I guess that is right. It was an experience. Sometimes you have an experience that will guide you at other times. A fish inside the river, don't understand what the one outside the river go through lol.

Merit system has taught me is not just to post but being useful.

It's good to see you so excited after moving up to the senior rank recently. This can be proof that if we wanted to we could and nothing would stop you from moving up the rank if the quality of your post was good. The distribution of merit has been focused on the quality of user post which are useful for the forum and other user. Some of the post may have been missed by the merit  source, but when they find them, that's when the merit are shared. I'm sure we all have the same potential to move up the ranking, but many of us don't want to do it and just complain that it's tough. Congratulation on your achieved.

I always advise user to change their posting habit to be higher quality because that's what will help them move up the rank. I've also proven that consistency, focus, and a will to do is the way to achieve all of this. I hope you are not too comfortable with this new rank and continue your journey, because your activities are sufficient so you only need more merit to become hero member and even legendary member.

i know that feel, since i also ever faced the time like yours. (Joined the bounty for 2 months but in the end of bounty, the distribution took almost 1 year later and the price also worthless)

Congratulation for your achievement anyway

I am feeling interesting from your journey and this story. How you did you change from a bounty hunter to a contributor on the forum? It is not easy but you did it.

You deserved it and I like what you shared with us. Don't lose hope and do things correctly.

Congratulations for your new rank buddy!

The merit system was not introduced to deprive those putting in efforts into adding valuable discussion to the forum which is why at any given opportunity I try to encourage them with the necessary merits needed to reach the next rank. If you're putting in your best and not getting recognize as you would have dreamt, you don't have to lose focus and start getting discouraged.

Just keep doing what you're doing and when the time is right your posts adding value to people life might just get rewarded. Congratulations on your new tank, the journey doesn't stop here as you'll have to proof you did deserve the new rank by living up to it in regards to improving on yourself and continue adding valuable discussion to the forum.

Many people see new ranks as just a means to increase there pay rate on the forum but if you wants to go far in regards to ranking up, you shouldn't be one of those users.  Instead see this new ranks as new opportunity to prove your worth to the forum. We need more users heavily invested in the progress of the forum and not the progress of their pockets.

LESSONS FROM MY JOURNEY ON THE FORUM

I still remember one post that says "Making progress and earning the required merit to rank up is quite easy to achieve but learning to stay consistent in helping the community after getting the desired rank is difficult". Perhaps, you should consider that aspect throughout your journey.

It is kinda disappointing to see some of the member who were a good poster before and eventually become a user who unconstructively making such posts after getting their desired rank. ??? Anyhow, keep learning and enjoy your stay here.

I kinda relate with your story a bit. Anyone started in this forum with just doing airdrop and bounty is really hard start. But at least you learn your lesson and now you are establishing yourself as a good membet of the community. Ranking up is one thing but being helpful here is harder than you thought.

Ranking indeed increase pay rate on some good bounty or even signature campaign but the level of achievement you gaines by sharing constructive post will leave much marked by some members and will be more valuable.

It is kinda disappointing to see some of the member who were a good poster before and eventually become a user who unconstructively making such posts after getting their desired rank. ??? Anyhow, keep learning and enjoy your stay here.
This is inevitable dude. I know that some are aiming to achieve desired rank for what for high paying campaign or biggest spot on the bounty pool. This is just bonus actually, but being helpful and recognizable user here is far more great achievement.

I would like to congratulate you because not all the members having a good time with the forum because of the merit system but you achieved the senior member rank even there is a hard time still there is progress, the merit system is just a barrier if you break it you will see your improvements good luck to you next achievement even this is another long way still pursue your dreams. Again congrats and enjoy this achievement.

Well, I was like you once. I was intrigued by signature campaigns but back then I had like 1 Merit so I could hardly join any, since most if all only accepted Members and above.

Anyways, congrats on your rank up. Just another 241 Merits to attain Hero status as we speak :)

I'm pretty much on same boat as you, few 'quality' contributions and I shall be there, just need my lazy ass right up than competing bounty quota and not caring further.  :P

Congratulations on your new senior member rank mate, it took quite a long time (you were a user even before the merit system was introduced), but imo, it really doesn't matter how long it takes, and you should not take it to be a disadvantage, except if you're only just desperate to rank up, but that aside, there is just so much knowledge at your finger tips on the forum. Bitcoin is dex, so the forum helps in immeasurable ways, such as protecting your funds, updating users on scams, wallets to use/not to use, etc.

Congratulations again, continue learning more about Bitcoin and with time you'll prolly rank up to Hero.

It's been a long time coming as you've been held back by merits, having required activities but you kept faith and now you've arrived at another significant point in your journey to building yourself both in knowledge and in forum ranks. Your archievement is an inspiration to all, you've been a hard worker and your growth is only evident that hard work pays. Your win is a win to all beginners as it builds enthusiasm in us to put in the work. I'm sure a lot of others would be putting in the work.
Congratulations on your new rank and you've done noble to celebrate it with the forum. Big ups mate and more wins.

Congratulations for reaching the Sr. Member rank! The journey had been rough but all of your hard work paid-off!

Like what I always mention to threads that has relevance to "receiving merits", if you view "merits" as something that is essential or as a chore, chances are that you will be receiving less. But if you view the forum as a place of contributing knowledge in the crypto space and you initiatively post/create threads that actually help people, then merits would be a secondary or a "collateral" effect to your actual contribution.

I'm pretty much on same boat as you, few 'quality' contributions and I shall be there, just need my lazy ass right up than competing bounty quota and not caring further.  :P

You can do it and never lose hope! Try to convince yourself to NOT think about merits but to think about your potential contribution to the forum. In this way, the merits would be the one chasing you and not the other way around!

2. Humility and attitude:

This is the part that I like the most with OP, having been good around in the forum could avoid you to get any arguments from other members. This is the most important part to being a member in the forum. However, not all could do this and there are few that are reall rude. Even the newcomers or low rank members are bully too when there are post that they don't like.

So, hopefully the members that are able to read this post might get inspired as well and instead of negative criticism why not post a positive criticism to uplift morale here in the forum.

BTW, congratulations OP. Never too late to grow and that you had prove it!

How you did you change from a bounty hunter to a contributor on the forum? It is not easy but you did it.

I'm obviously not OP, but a lot of people are really overestimating how easy it is to actually be a decent "contributor", well, assuming that you're actually interested in this forum's niche which is Bitcoin. It's just most people aren't interested with Bitcoin at all, they're just interested in getting bounties for money.

Congrats on your achievement! Really it wasn't an easy task. However, you are another example that rank up is possible by contributions. Good to see that you have realized about bounty scams and backed to the bitcoin. I have started my journey with zero merits on the forum and achieve Legendary rank eventually. I hope you could achieve it as well. Just keep continuing your contributions to the forum.

Best of luck....

That first line and last part are definitely true. You really have to do the work but of course with consistency, humility, and showcasing your strength. And with that, I would like to congratulate you for reaching another achievement.

I'm sure you've inspired many people here, including me of course, not to give up on your goals. I always remember this quote that I've read earlier this year, "I may walk slow but I don't walk backwards." Congrats again, @Gozie51!

Don't lose heart, man. All you have to do is increase your activity and you're ready to rank up to Sr. Member. You have more than enough merits to reach senior and who knows, you might even gain more to reach another rank while waiting for your activity to increase, right? Just keep going. Let's keep going. We'll get there, too. :)

Congratulations to you @Gozie51, if the reference is to continue to reach higher rankings then it is still a long way to go, but when you consider this forum as a place to get and share information about crypto and others, this journey will not stop.
Once again, congratulations to you every member who strives to be better deserve to be appreciated.

First of all, congratulations to your progressive journey here in this forum!

We're so proud of you, and especially to other users here who did their best to achieve their goals every single day.

You're really an inspiration to other users who are losing hope to have a higher rank. Just be patient and do your part, make a lot of informative posts and just don't violate any rules and regulations in this forum. There are a lot of users here who are really greedy when it comes to earning money which is really not the number 1 priority here.

Congratulations Gozie on achieving yet another milestone. It's a big feat that is worth celebrating. A lot of people think that the merit system is trash and should be scrapped simply because they can't rank up as quickly as they hoped. Funny enough, that's not even how the merit system was implemented to be. The best thing to do has always been contributing and adding value to the community and everything else will fall into place. Once again, Massive congrats!

As far as a member is contributing constructively to the forum, everything else will fall into place. There are always people on the lookout for people who bring value to the forum via their constructive discussions or threads.
