Title: bitcoin continues the positive trend today, is the altcoin market in trouble?
Post by: takngantuk on November 13, 2020, 01:18:07 AM
today I read several articles. and I found an interesting article. the article was titled if bitcoin is sideways then it allows altcoins to rally higher.

you can read it here> https://cointelegraph.com/news/sideways-bitcoin-price-allows-defi-ethereum-and-altcoins-to-rally-higher

what I want to ask is what if bitcoin is not sideways ?. as at this time bitcoin continues its positive trend, BTC is past $ 16k. Will this put the altcoin market into trouble?

I'm looking at ethereum, and some altcoins like nothing has changed. I am afraid that if the bitcoin trend continues the altcoin market will decline. so maybe now is a good time to sell altcoins before that happens.

what do you think my choice is wrong?

It depends on the altcoins that you are holding. If you are holding ETH then I think you are not in a bad position really. ETH has its own rally although much weaker than Bitcoin's. But that does not mean you need to sell your ETH. ETH is growing in itself.

And don't assume that Bitcoin's rally always means altcoins crashing. Remember the last time Bitcoin rallied so hard and got an ATH out of it? It was also the time when altcoins also rallied and made their own ATHs.

DeFi tokens are mostly shit tokens and they will be killed in price. It won't happen in matter of hours or days but after months the shit tokens will fall down to the hell price of zero.

Altcoins will rally and jump into their bull mode soon. I am waiting for their bull mode next one or two seasons. When whales finish their works and games with bitcoin, altcoins will have their turns and show their strength.

It will not make the altcoin market in trouble. Where did you see that if there were no movements happened in the major coins? you should see the weekly gains by the major altcoins and you will know the difference.
Almost all of the major coins have been getting positive Impact from the bitcoin pump.
I doubt the altcoin market will decline because yesterday when bitcoin was pumping and altcoin was not declining.

Altcoins depend on bitcoin.

If bitcoin uptrend continue, it will be good (in the long term) for altcoins. If bitcoin shifts to a downward trend, altcoins will be in trouble.

The point is: Shitcoins, like most of the DeFi, will go to zero sooner than later, and price bitcoin price will not change that.

First you need to understand a couple of things,

(a) when Bitcoin goes up, majority of the altcoins decline
(b) when altcoins keeps pumping, bitcoin might go down
(c) altcoin pairings are based on Bitcoin

With that said, as Bitcoin is currently going to $16,500 most altcoins are bleeding because investors are shifting to Bitcoin market. And most Defi and Uniswap and YFI hype are gone now, that's why there is a sudden move to Bitcoin.

Despite of the hype on DeFi project, I can say that some project are good and meant to stay in the market so I don't think they'll be in danger because after the upward of Bitcoin, good altcoins will follow and this is where the market is heading right now.

Altcoins are good and their season will come again, for now grab many good altcoins now before they start to rise again, no one can stop good altcoins to follow the trend of Bitcoin. Its really good to see a bull market again.  :D

Last time when Bitcoin rallied good altcoin like ethereum, litecoin and Ripple talked and also achieved a new ATH. It basically depends on the kind of altcoin you are hodling. All good altcoins are rallying with Bitcoin in the present market but shitcoins are getting destroyed.

Still cryptocurrency market is very unpredictable if Bitcoin goes above $20k then it is a possibility that altcoins will bleed as traders/hodlers will sell their altcoins to take a position in Bitcoin.

I have been witnessing recently is the uptrend of both the market and bitcoin is still increasing in price :) so the view to go sideways is wrong. But altcoins are also going up very well, i see the cryptocurrency market being pumped into the whole market, not just bitcoin. Right now the most attention will be on bitcoin and ethereum because of what's going on in the market and news of the future of ethereum, i also think that if bitcoin continues to rise, then altcoins could fall. Anyway down is my own personal judgment but I suppose this is most likely because we know what happened in the past.

If bitcoin is not sideways, then the bitcoin will have the possibility to go down or go up later. But we don't know what will happen with the altcoin, but some altcoin already increases, although not much. The bitcoin price still increases as I see that in the market, the line for bitcoin is up even if there is a little correction for the price. But remember, we are at the weekend now, so I think bitcoin can go down and make a correction once again.

But I don't think the altcoin market will be in trouble because the altcoin can adjust its price and some of the altcoins can increase. I don't think that selling altcoin will be good, especially if you already bought the altcoin a few days ago because the increase is too little, and that can make you get lost because of the fee of the transaction. But if you think that you can profit from selling your altcoin, you can do that right away before something worst happens in the market.

Altcoin market is not in any trouble, if bitcoin is surging and altcoins are falling it's because Bitcoin dominance keeps surging too, it's normal to see altcoins dumping or not reacting to bitcoin Bullrun but for how long? Very soon altcoins will become bullish themselves

Do not think there is a need to worry. BTC usually pulls off first and then alts follow.
Now we have the Paypal money train to boost as well :)

Yep, Altcoin volume are transferring to BTC volume which result for Bitcoin strong dominance on crypto market. Its either fresh money will enter on altcoins just like what happened lately on DeFi or BTC will slow down its momentum so that Altcoin will catch up the uptrend movement of BTC. Its absurd to invest right now on Altcoin while BTC is still showing a strong bullish movement. So far altcoin market is on red days.

The altcoin market is also following Bitcoin trend .just in case bitcoin continues to rise I hope that the altcoin season will also begin there, I am not expecting to have longer time for altcoin season .but it will ,once Bitcoin become so strong and other traders know its hard for them to earn more trading it, so more of them will  move to altcoin And that's what altcoin seasons will be started.

Lets hope alts are warming up in the back ground ready to pop as well,  yeah, btc have been on the up trend for the past 1 week now, the good thing about it is it look like a smooth ride to the top, 16k+ and keeps going, i think investors have shift from defi to btc or perhaps institutional investors are pumping money since the announcement of PayPal supporting btc,
but i do think soon enough alts will follow but nobody knows when exactly that will happen.

Even I hope this is the case as well. I believe that after Bitcoin pump consolidates and the price stabilises then the altcoins will continue their bull run. I wish we see 2021 like what we had in 2017.

Top altcoins in the coinmarketcap isn't going to go down without Bitcoin going down so it's safe to say that altcoins are safe if what you bought is in the top 20 coins, if down below, it's really unpredictable and might dump anytime once more investors starts pouring money to Bitcoin instead of lower alts.

It's not altcoin time yet, bitcoin always takes the lead and once it reaches a new ATH the door will be open to altcoin, I recommend everyone to start picky very good altcoins and store in your portfolio because after bitcoin is done altcoins will start its own bullish move.

We can also consider the Bitcoin Dominance here.
https://i.imgflip.com/4m7rft.jpg
The 64% area level of Bitcoin Dominance broke recently is really significant that's why we really don't see a huge pump of some altcoins after the Bitcoin pumped recently which broke $15,000 and now $16,000.
I am still looking forward bitcoin Dominance will reach around 70% and that's the time we can see for altcoins' turn for their run.

There are many altcoins quite alright but there are some which are held in high regards than others, and these ones held in high regards are hardly affected by Bitcoin pump, and some of these altcoins are Ethereum, LTC and so on. Therefore, about if the growth of Bitcoin will affect altcoins negatively, the answer is yes but not all altcoins. So this now depends on the type of altcoins in your portfolio, if you are holding good altcoins like previously mentioned, then there is nothing to worry about, because nowadays as Bitcoin is growing, Ethereum always tend to follow it. But as for most altcoins, mostly the new ones, they are risky in this case, because most holders or investors, will like to sell their altcoins to either Bitcoin or Ethereum, this will in turn affect altcoins.

The current situation of bitcoin will not put the altcoin in the danger but otherwise it will be giving another bullish trend for altcoin. Did you see the altcoin got a correction during the bitcoin pump?
The altcoin is showing the bullish trend too as there are so many altcoins get pumping.
It doesn't mean when bitcoin shows the bullish trend and then altcoin will get the reversal trend.

It all depends on how the Altcoin developer itself, if Altcoins are of very good quality, of course it will not affect the price in the market, different things like Altcoins that do not have quality, even if the price of Bitcoin goes up or down Altcoins will not show good price movements, because this all requires encouragement from the community or investors who value Altcoins. It's not that from the high Bitcoin price all the Altcoins will be weak in trading, such a judgment is simply wrong.

Most people who lose are people who often don't worry about anything and take small things that have a big impact, meaning that everyone must always be ready and on guard when he acts, because the market never tells anyone when conditions start to change.

Remember, it happened before when bitcoin achieved it's ATH, so who knows if history will repeat itself.

With Ethereum I don't think there will be a problem.
Not all investors there will just switch to Bitcoin because they are also expecting greatness from it.

While on the other hand, you might worry about not much popular altcoins.
Those have the risk of being sold by investors and just ride the wave of bitcoin even for a little amount of time.
Dump means value down. You just need to figure out if the coin you are supporting can hold it out while investors are selling. Some can, others can't.

Sometimes its normal for the altcoins to suffer some falling of prices during a bullish Bitcoin. That is normal as traders and investors would rather pull out their funds from altcoins and transfer them to Bitcoin. They are just looking for a bigger profit. But there are also times when the bull run is not just exclusive to Bitcoin but is also happening to altcoins. I think that is what is generally happening right now. I am currently bullish for ETH, for example.

I would definnitely say that altcoin might be in trouble when btc dominance keeps increasing but it's just wild hunch just because in the past something like this happened btc crushes the alts but in the future no one really knows. Bitcoin positive trend is not an obvious factor that could decide whether alt gonna be bearish or not anyway.
I'm not really an expert to trading but according to my observation when the Bitcoin's price increase the price of the altcoin increases as well as long as it is paired up with Bitcoin or am I wrong about it?
It could go both ways decrease and increase. This crypto market is just so random and there's no way to predict the correct answer.

I don't know, bitcoin has been growing in price all this year and altcoins have also grown in price all this year and another pump of the entire cryptocurrency market is expected by the end of this year, so I don't think that altcoins will have any problems due to the fact that bitcoin is growing, because big players also like to invest in altcoins and therefore altcoins will also grow.

Perhaps great market awakening could happen once great pump of  bitcoin take place. The continues surge of bitcoin we depends the pump of altcoins as we know btc is the main influencer to start the bullish trend. Not sure about the good position of bitcoin trend will last long but good to see it rising. If you hold Ethereum you are one of the luckiest person on crypto world because it is next to bitcoin. Very potential to increase higher.

Some of the top altcoins actually follow the bitcoin bullrun trend, maybe at the moment it doesn't really look like this trend, but where bitcoin will hit a new ATH, they will make all crypto space experience a good positive impact

As usual, after the bitcoin price hit $16,400 as the highest price today, the price now is down and reaches $16,100, and it still goes down lower. The correction comes after the bitcoin price hit the highest price, but I am sure that the price can go back to that price and break $17k soon. I hope you can still be careful with this correction because we never know when the price can turn the direction to the high price. Maybe it is just a weekend correction that always happens.

You should also compare the current situation with a few months ago when crypto has dumped to the bottom even bitcoin reached the all time bottom price.
Altcoins have started to build the trust from the investors. that's the main reason why the price of altcoins are still stable right now.
I didn't see any signal for altcoin to be dumped due to the bitcoin pump at least not for this time.

Some of the altcoins will have their turn to jump together with the bitcoin price, but I doubt the other altcoins we now see have no any movement because there is no increase in demand in the market.
If you want to play it safe then choose altcoins that are in the top 10 at the moment, especially ETH.

Recently bitcoin have shown good movement in price than altcoins. Btc market dominance also increased significantly. But I don't think altcoin market in trouble for this reason. Altcoins haven't got dumped during this time, and moving up slowly. We may see a good move in alt price soon. You don't need to sell your alts by being afraid. The profit will be slower but you won't loss your money.

If the bitcoin price and dominancy start to increase rapidly and it reaches over 70% then definitely there will be high chances of parabolic btc growth that can take dominancy upto 90% this situation can really kill or crash most of the alts value and that will only recover after btc settles and reverses.

Unlike in 2017 where alts followed btc in price improvement, now alts were taking it too slow to move maybe many still believes more in Bitcoin than in altcoins especially there are plenty of scam altcoins exist after the ATH. Though once BTC reach more certain amount some too alts or only the top alts from coinmarketcap will definitely follow the high trend.

Altcoins are doing quite alright for themselves, why are people so worried about altcoins not holding their own? These are still good investments if you want to make them, sure there are still very bad ones that you could potentially lose money from, but not the market as a whole. We are talking about scam projects and failed projects, those are the ones that could end up losing money, but the regular top 10 or top 20 type of good coins could still profit you in a bitcoin bull market.

Look at XRP right now, it is over %5 in profit for the day, Link over %3 (and over %7 for the week), Litecoin up %10!! for the day. There are plenty of them like that if you check coinmarketcap you can see it. After all we are talking about a whole market and when you have these huge ones going up this way, it is easy to get hopeful about them as well. But if you just look at small new projects and see them go down, you are going to assume the market is bad as well.

After bitcoin is successful at this point, what makes you sure altcoins will still catch up with bitcoin? Altcoins are still not far from where they belong, some have even dumped. If bitcoin is gonna experience a correction, I believe altcoins will have a more severe impact. If you feel its too late to enter this bullish market, don't buy anything.

Well, I think the same as you. We see that the altcoin can follow bitcoin price movements because some of the altcoins can increase too. But the other altcoin needs more time to grow. Maybe after the bitcoin price touches $17k, the altcoin will start rallies or waiting for the bitcoin price is down and make a correction. Bitcoin price now seems down after reaching $16,400 and now bitcoin was traded at $16,100, and it could go down to $15k again. But we do not hope the bitcoin price to go down for more than $15k.

The altcoin still has a chance to increase, even if the bitcoin price is up or down, and maybe the history will repeat. If that so, we can profit from altcoin, and then we will make another profit from bitcoin.

Bitcoin continues to have a positive trend today but the altcoins market has problems because other currencies in the crypto market grow depending on the price of bitcoin and ethereum currency are in the best position. Other altcoins are dumping in the market the demand for these currencies is increasing day by day even if the price of these decreases if we wait patiently it will increase again bitcoin ethereum tops the list of other altcoin.

I think things are better now. bitcoin is still at the price of 16k and there is no sign of it moving again. This is great for the altcoin market, as there will be price consolidation in the near future. so it's not a problem but a favorable situation because we buy cheaper before the price goes up.

You're not wrong and i suppose it was basic too, When Bitcoin rally happens it basically will make alts going to be dumped since trader will HODL the bitcoin but it's depends on many factors and which altcoin too, Ethereum and the others major altcoin not really affected with this I suppose but for the other small Altcoins it's have small impact. Altcoins Main purpose was basically really important for this, Let's see some "Yield Farm" Altcoins, It's didn't have an significant impact since it's giving better APY even with higher risk Also check the "Storage" Focused Altcoin which after i see didn't really affected.

DYOR, Every people have different Opinion but i'm personally not going sell all my Altcoins and straight away buying Bitcoin.

what I want to ask is what if bitcoin is not sideways ?. as at this time bitcoin continues its positive trend, BTC is past $ 16k. Will this put the altcoin market into trouble?

I'm looking at ethereum, and some altcoins like nothing has changed. I am afraid that if the bitcoin trend continues the altcoin market will decline. so maybe now is a good time to sell altcoins before that happens.

what do you think my choice is wrong?

nope, i think altcoin market will not decline, if bitcoin the positive trends on bitcoin continues,
and maybe this is the latest chance to buy more good altcoins mate

In my opinion this is the moment where we can buy some altcoins, some things in common in 2017 where the price of bitcoin and altcoin does not always follow the price of bitcoin and tends to wait for the price of bitcoin to fall, when the price of bitcoin drops there is a movement in all altcoin prices, where there are similarities in the golden year of altcoins in 2017, although this is only my amusement, and it all depends on what you see at these two different prices, Bitcoin or Altcoin certainly has no similarity in price in all markets.

There is nothing wrong if we don't take the opportunity to take the opportunity while altcoin prices are still relatively stable and haven't tended to increase, if things happen again then we are ready to benefit from Altcoins and Bitcoin ..

Things are now under control, nothing to stress. Everyone's eyes set on towards the launch of Ethereum 2.0, therefore, the natural questions for most ETH and altcoin holders are what happens next? What I see, it will just increase in price. I'll just keep buying when we get in cheaper before it's rolling out.

If you're a trader you have to know when to hold BTC and when to hold alts. If you're not a trader, and hodl good projects like 0xMR and FARM, you just wait for the bullrun and try to sell the top.

It should be hodl both of coins. This time bitcoin is getting a pump but at the same time altcoin is starting to get a pump too.
It looks like the old trend that altcoin will be losing to the bitcoin when bitcoin was on the bullish trend is not yet happening again at least not for this time consider altcoin can still very stable when so many demand gone to the bitcoin.
I do believe the majority of traders hodl both

Holding bitcoin is different from being a bag holder of alts, most of the alts are still way behind their all-time-high while bitcoin was recovered so much that it is about like $4k from previous highs. I will say that holding some alts is riskier that bitcoin itself. But the thing is that you can gain so much with alts because you can invest small and during a bull run, you don't know your investments can grow as high as 1000x, even today, some of the Defi hype projects are already giving investors that kind of gain already.

With the current situation now, I don't think people will remain calm down because bitcoin price now drops to the $15,800 level, and I think that makes some of them worry if the price will go down for more.
Maybe they are stress to see the price can go down below $16k, but that is what happens to the crypto market.
The altcoin market suffers too. But not all altcoins are down because some of the altcoins can survive in this correction. Hopefully, they can lift to other prices, although not too high.
If the bitcoin price is now down, it can give the altcoin a chance to increase and lift the price and reach the next target of the high price.
When bitcoin can come back to the $16k, the altcoin will be at a high price, and maybe the altcoin will have a chance to lift to the next high price.

The current growth of Bitcoin may not leave negative impact on altcoins because one thing I have seen so far whenever Bitcoin goes up mostly altcoins follow up btc trend as we can see there are some top ranked altcoins which are performing very well in the market which indicates that the altcoins market isn't in any kind of trouble.

Actually, it depends on the project of altcoins since we check other alts are also increasing. There is the time for some altcons to increase its value for the mean time we could have the chance to buy some alts in the market.

Altcoins will go up if bitcoin is stable, bitcoin price goes up high Altcoins will go down and bitcoin price goes down Altcoins will go down too.  There is a time when altcoins will fly, that is, if bitcoin is stable.  most traders are often caught in this kind of situation.

As always, some alts are in trouble because they are low quality projects without real purpose, and some alts will follow bitcoin progress, mainly because they are good project that have potential!
The fact is that alt market is growing every year, or it's better to say every month! In size and value, more alts appears and some old alts are getting more expensive! And I don't think we will see any changes about this, there will be more alts and alt market will continue to grow!

It's a big good news for altcoins if Bitcoin keeps surging higher every day, this will make dominance high and majority of altcoins will be in red just for the main time, once bitcoin starts dropping altcoins will start surging, this time around I don't know if shitcoins will benefit from the next altcoin season that's why it's better to hold top altcoins

Stay away in low market cap altcoins because for sure you will be in trouble if you keep getting near on it, the btc dominance is keep rising and a lot of whales are withdrawing and dumping the coin that they have because of the sentiment. For those who have high potential altcoins, do not be afraid because you will not experience huge dumps unlike those shitcoins are now keep dumping and keep losing its value everyday.

For a long time I began to think about how everything happens in the crypto market. Yes, BTC is now showing growth and I believe that all this is also possible due to altcoins. Based on this, we see that only BTC is growing, while altcoins are standing still or may even go down. But we also know that the growth of cryptocurrency in the market can be milestone. First, BTC grows, then certain altcoins grow. Such a scheme has been already many times and it is possible it will be this time. I also believe that ETH has a potential for growth, although its price is now very low.

So far it looks like it isn't in big trouble, for a while it looked like just because bitcoin went up a lot, price could have gone down a lot but looking at what is going on right now I could say that it is safe to say that is not going to happen.

Under 1% spread red for the market is not a big deal, it is something that could be recovered within an hour so when something this small happens I act as if it is ignoreable and nothing to care about, might as well be unchanged in this type of market and it would have been same. However that also shows power as well, when bitcoin goes up a lot, alts were expected to drop but didn't drop so it could totally mean that alts will have a good rally once again after bitcoin stops or at least takes a break and they could go 5%+ again.

Bitcoin is dipping now but the altcoins weren't rallying, this is contrary to the narrative that "if bitcoin goes sideways, altcoins to rally higher" it certainly isn't what goes on now.  Bitcoin taking a dip means altcoin also sinking but there are notable tokens that were speculated to go up and they gaining green % today. The most noticeable altcoin the keeps the growth is WAVES.

Often when we see when the price of Bitcoin has shot up, the price of the majority of other Altcoins has also experienced a quite high price increase. Therefore, there is an assumption there is an interplay between them. However, this kind of correlation is not always fixed. There are times when the Bitcoin price goes up, some Altcoins actually experience a price decline / stability like what is happening now in the market, the price of bitcoin which has reached its highest price this year, which is $15,905.50 doesn't seem to have a strong influence at all on altcoins and I think the cause is currently the price of altcoins is under pressure because money flows into the Bitcoin market in other words many investors / traders sell their altcoins and exchange them for bitcoin.

All and everything needs correction time the same as Stock exchange or cryptocurrency. Bitcoin correction time between the next 4 months. In 4 months altcoins will pump, that's sure. But we can't be sure which coin will be valuable from all the cryptocurrency. Bitcoin investment is much easier than others, we don't need to think about altcoins situation.

If you are a holder, holding small tiny coins that may or may not grow big in the future shouldn't be a big problem unless you give a big portion of portfolio over to them. Have like 90%+ portfolio filled with trustworthy and good coins such as bitcoin and ethereum and anything else like that, but aside from that you could have a tiny portion of your money into these type of small coins.

If they do not grow big that is fine because increases in bitcoin and ethereum are big enough to cover that difference and make you a profit, but if they end up growing big and huge they could make you extra amount of income that would yield you a ton of profit. That is just how it should be in anything regarding crypto world, big portion in big stuff and small portion in small stuff.

Maybe if you just select the top 25 coins list, that will not difficult to find the potential altcoins, which can rise later. This situation makes it difficult to analyze which coins can increase because bitcoin and altcoin tend to wait for a while and make the market in a sideways position.

If we don't want to risk analyzing the coin and making a wrong decision, we can calm down and only wait and watch the price moves. Bitcoin and altcoin will rise in the end, and as long as our coins have a chance to increase, we will make a profit later.

Even though the bitcoin dominance reached 65%, it doesn't mean that the all of altcoins are in trouble but there are really selected altcoins that can experience huge dump and high selling pressure so be careful if you will buy or trade altcoins. For me the bitcoin dominance can increase more in this following days so it is better if we will now trim positions if we have some altcoins. As for my own observation, the altcoins that experiecing high selling pressure while the dominance of bitcoin are keep increasing, are the altcoins that doesn't have volume where the there are whales who are manipulating the price

I think we are seeing some alikeness of what happen to 2017 bull run to this on going bull run wherein bitcoin started its bullish run and all the altcoins will follow afterwards. Also I dont think that altcoins are in trouble just for example the ethereum and other top rank alts are also in good trend but instead they are I think preparing themselves to make their bullish run as well.
The altcoin will survive if bitcoin gets a bull run, especially for the top altcoin, which has a good position in the market because the altcoin itself has good support to stay at the current price.
But that will not happen to the altcoin, which does not have more support because that altcoin will drop too deep and make that altcoin hard to rise.
So far, ethereum and the other top altcoin can handle the price and still hold from the drops because the ethereum still stays at more than $400.
But we don't know how long the altcoin can start to have the bull run because bitcoin is not starting another rally, so maybe it will happen in the next week.

Bitcoin market making positive trend will not have any negative effect on the altcoin market if the altcoin have good concept and utility. Aside from that, before altcoin have could reach a new ATH, Bitcoin always lead the market so if Bitcoin market is in total bullish all genuine altcoin we have will follow the bullish trend so theres no need to panic if Bitcoin is in a positive trend.

If you want to sell your altcoins and you are confident that it is going nowhere, sell it and buy bitcoin as it's dumped a bit as I'm checking the price. But if you are too confident that your altcoins will recover somehow even if bitcoin is on the trend, then don't sell it but don't waste the chance of buying bitcoin.

There is still the comparison that whether bitcoin goes up, the altcoins market will be pushed together afterward. That comparison is popular from the 2017 ATH.

I guess the 2017 ICO made enough hype to the market than the DeFi today. Not much of an impact on altcoins, but Bitcoin has benefited more than anything else.
Well, it's too early to decide to sell your bag of alts, you might regret it once Btc reaches new ATH, altcoins tends to follow through.

isn't it if the bitcoin trend continues then the altcoins will also experience an increase in price! I think there is no problem with altcoins and now it's slow in rising prices maybe still afraid that bitcoin will suddenly dump

Not necessarily all the time, though most of the alts in the market are following the Btc price trend because most of these alts in the crypto market are paired with Btc. But the altcoin rise in 2017 was different, that was a huge pump caused by the ICO hype. Today is also different, alts tends to rise because Btc is having a good run, but not as the same manner as the 2017 alt season.
Try comparing the price of the top alts before when Btc was $16,000 in 2017 and you'll see a huge difference.

Thats what usually happening, if bitcoin price increase alts are following but this time it seems bitcoin alone is getting the limelight.

Well there's no need for you to sell your alts just because of this thinking that they might get dump. Alts has their own season on when to soar high, thus just wait for it because sooner or later it will chanhe movement. As long as the altcoins that you hold are well-established then most likely it will increase in time.

Alts will follow the trend but remember, it depends on the alt itself. If your holding a strong alt with strong foundation and continuous development, then you have the chance that it will really increase as well. But if you have a crap alt, with no progress going on, team is missing in action, guess you know the answer where your alt is heading to. So this question relies on what alt you are holding. It doesn't depend on bitcoin alone.

its right mate, if we already understand market behaviour in bitcoin bullish opportunity in altcoin should be taken to trade. there are alot good altcoin dump it first and then following bitcoin direction. this kind market cycle must be understood by all investors to get maximum profit from market.

It's not true that alts will start declining quickly as they do follow the trend of BTC and rally more when BTC holds around a specific price. But, you should also see that everything is pegged to BTC and if BTC rises so quick, even the most shittiest alts will rise in terms of USD. Is it justifiable? No, because today's investor is not some old-school pump and dump puppet who just takes things for granted, but does complete research before entering the markets and invests carefully. That carefulness stops, and sometimes, even declines some shitcoins while working alts rock on. During this bull run, don't expect those non-sense tokens to rally as what they will gain, they'll spew 'em out badly and will make you lose much more.

Altcoins has become playground of high risk investors, they would invest on altcoins if bitcoin remains and continues to be bullish, at the current level, it's already bullish but investors are still waiting for bitcoin to reach a new ATH and altcoins will certainly rise.

I want to see how the market move once bitcoin will have a big dump as a correction, I'm sure panic will start, but as of now, everything is good for bitcoin and slowly altcoins are following its trend.

today I read several articles. and I found an interesting article. the article was titled if bitcoin is sideways then it allows altcoins to rally higher.

you can read it here> https://cointelegraph.com/news/sideways-bitcoin-price-allows-defi-ethereum-and-altcoins-to-rally-higher

what I want to ask is what if bitcoin is not sideways ?. as at this time bitcoin continues its positive trend, BTC is past $ 16k.

It really depends on how they think and what they want to hold back

If you hold BTC of course you will wait for the price of BTC on USDT, but why when you buy altcoins with your BTC then the price of BTC goes up and makes the altcoin price in the BtC pair go down, I know that because you aim to multiply BTC not on the USD value

Just see even though the price of BTC in USD rises, the altcoins you hold, for example ETH on the USD pair also go up, even though the BTC pair goes down, so actually the focus is on the USD value, not the BTC pair, it's the same as holding BTC waiting for the USD value increase, if you believe in BTC you should hold it in BTC not in altcoins

if we look at the history before, it should be bitcoin crash in 2018 but many people hold it until the end of 2018, when at this time maybe people think the price will go down but there is a little difference because of that, I think $ 20k will be easier by the end of 2020 , at least $ 100k can be achieved until 2021 later

If Bitcoin keeps surging we should be celebrating and not worrying about altcoins unless you don't know how crypto works, after bitcoin grows higher altcoins will start revaluating as well and both small and big projects will become profitable once again, it's a very good thing that Bitcoin continues it's uptrend

Bitcoin is on the move and im personally expecting new highs for bitcoin in december. Regarding altcoin market it can stay under stress for a while especially till ethereum shows something nice. If ethereum also moves after bitcoin then we can expect other alts to follow as well.

So far there have been developments from some altcoins and ethereum has started to bangkin and we expect to be able to return to the peak like 2017 and this year is very convincing because the value of bitcoin is already above the cloud and we certainly have surprises from some altcoins that already have potential, hopefully this development will continue.
The truth be told, there are very few handful good altcoins project that are doing well right now becasue most of them are just shitholes. Except a very few they are just like the past in 2017. The best among these altcoins is the ethereum only, this coin has proven to us that, it is measuring some powers with Bitcoin, so, when Bitcoin price soar it price also appreciate averagely. But for these defi's, they are scam tokens mostly.

Yes, thats correct Bitcoin price continues to gain momentum, and now conquering the $17K price level. But I was wondering why the Altcoins are not gaining much increase unlike before during 2017-2018 Bullrun when the BTC price was at this level most altcoins are already gaining massive price increase. I think your right Altcoins may be in trouble now thats why it's not gaining much price momentum but it's only my opinion I'm not sure about it.

I don't know if you were in crypto back in the end of 2017. and the beginning of 2018., but if I remember correctly Bitcoin price skyrocketed in December 2017 while altcoins skyrocketed a month later (in January 2018). So be patient and when "daddy" settles it's price, alts will gain momentum.

Based on the chart on the market that bitcoin is moving very significantly above $ 17k I am a little worried because not all altcoins follow the trends of rising bitcoin prices, especially with Binance, TRON etc. meanwhile, ETH, LTC, XRP and Polkadot really grew significantly due to the influence of bitcoin itself.

most alts are already in green and I think December will be greater month for both btc and alts. It takes a bit for alts to catch up with btc which they seem to be doing now. Once they catch up we'll see much bigger rally than we saw in 2017-2018. some have predicted that btc can reach upto 315k in 2021. so if you keep that mind we have seen nothing yet.
maybe at this time we can't see a significant increase for BTC, but I believe BTC will have tremendous value.  currently only altcoins are showing the green color, even new altcoins are following suit,
more and more investors and traders and more and more money they use for crypto, so this will continue to pump for price increases

Bitcoin price is already 17k dollars and I think we can reach all time peak before end of the year. I think it would be really historical event. But there can be little correction till it, because we see only growth last months and it`s very strange for such market as cryptocurrency. Good news for all holders are coming ^-^

As you said you should sell altcoin because Bitcoin following uptrend and still going up and hitted $17k, If you are panic and sell altcoin then everyone will do the same (not everyone).
Altcoin will face red market if altcoin holders go for bitcoin while btc already at high price maybe go more higher but if Bitcoin stop going up and then ethereum other tokens start growing then what will you do? Sell BTC and buy alt again?

When the dominance of the bitcoin is increasing try to make a observation where there are some altcoins that are decreasing and the reason of it is a lot of investors are pulling their money because of fear and also the sentiment in altcoins which is doubt and uncertainty. There are now altcoins that are trending and for me this should be our main focus because if we will trade a non trending altcoins there is high possibility that we can lose huge amount of money.

Bitcoin continues surging today, it broke 17K$ already, https://crypto.co/currencies/bitcoin/ and most traders and investors eyeing for easy 20k$ this week. So we will expect the dump of most altcoins as Bitcoin is surging, but when Bitcoin will be stable on its price we will then expect also for Altcoins to follow.

I don't think the altcoins are in trouble because of the price of Bitcoin is uptrend and if any cases that the price of the altcoins downtrends I think it's a good opportunity to buy them for a good investment entry.

Bitcoin price continues to rise steadily and is now $ 17,125.  Altcoins have more modest price gains, but they are also now mostly in green.  The main thing is that there is no tendency for prices to fall with the growth of bitcoin in altcoins.  They are growing along with Bitcoin, although not as fast as we would like.  In the future, the situation may change and I don't think it will be for the worse for altcoins.

This is indeed a positive trend for bitcoin, bitcoin is able to break through $ 17000 and is ready to fly to the moon,
many predictions that $ 2000 will be reached at the end of the year, don't miss, buy now!

As for now alts also moving upwards, it's just a small run but still great to see a lots of green today. You are right, it's good for those investors who trust the projects that they are supporting, buying right now and storing for a much higher value in returned. Go ahead and work with your good research, the time will come for those good projects that have real usage and addition to this market, crypto industries after bitcoin will gained more interest most to those projects that have good technology behind.

Most of the time, Alts gained good value when bitcoin pumped rest for a while, diversions will take place, for those known alts the chance to get investors interest are huge. Expect that movements will continue to be positive as we are seeing strong bull keeps moving forward.

That's what really happening now Bitcoin is moving up while some of the altcoins I'm holding are not, two altcoin that I want and wish to move forward is UNI and on new coin YOUC, but it's to early to speculate that it will be the trend when Bitcoin hit it's new al time high, I'm hoping that other altcoins especially those that are not in the top 10 will also move forward.
But of course I only want coins that has a good potential, not coins that are considered as pump and dump coin/token.

Bitcoin continues positive also will make altcoin be positive, Altcoins always follow bitcoin tren.
Maybe it will but as of the moment, I did not see altcoins has already followed the trend, it's only bitcoin which is bullish now.

You can try to check coinmarketcap now, and you will see most of the altcoin also in positive tren because bitcoin and altcoin always on the same paths.

Different if stable coin, if bitcoin in positive tren, stable coin will be in negative tren. Always opposite
Yes there are some, but it terms of consistency, I'm not seeing it yet.

The market will only be fully bullish if bitcoin continues its run until it break the current ATH, I think that would be a major achievement this year if it will happen, bitcoin will then be all over the news and the FOMO will start again.

It's always btc taking the lead for weeks before altcoins start revaluating, this is normal and there are things to watch out for like Bitcoin dominance, don't underestimate altcoins right now because I'm sure that altcoin season is coming, buy some good altcoins before its too late.

For the Altcoin market still, it is very uncertain whether the market will grow or not with the synchronization of Bitcoin. Also, many thinkers are saying that the Crypto market is waiting for Bitcoin when it will cross the price level of $20,000 and stable above this price. So, it is advised that you should hold all your altcoins until then.

btc continue to doing well raise even already proved itself for good investment than others crypto cause it already pumped so much within some recently days. But that isn't indicates that altcoins are going to be in trouble! some altcoins always get dump without reason but lots of altcoins get pump too! Besides ether price is not pump well as like bitcoin, but ether still will be a good investment for long run.

I don't understand why people want Altcoin market to keep pumping forever, these people are those that use to lose their money to the market volatility. ALtcoins would pump but we need Bitcoin price to find a sure level for now. The gains in the market is huge that you don't need to rush the most important thing is to buy the right projects
