Title: Anyone know of an active forum discussing anonymity and privacy?
Post by: markcolls on November 14, 2020, 01:33:38 AM
I am looking for an active and good-sized online community dedicated to anonymity and privacy. Everything from privacy coins like Monero and Zacash, to coinjoins like Wasabi Wallet, Samourai Wallet, JoinMarket, to tumblers, and so on.

You're probably better off checking reddit or the stackexchsnge.

If monero's Website is putting stuff on relevance order, those are the only two higher than bitcointalk on the list: https://www.getmonero.org/ <- at the bottom. Some parts of this forum like development and technical have users with interest in those fields and I imagine most users are which might be a good option for you too.

I don't think there's a single community that cover all of those. Your best bet is to probably follow the micro-communities of the niches you've listed.

Here are some on Reddit:

Its not the only place to search it but for sure might be the best (the highest concentration of privacy enthusiasts with quite big privacy practical knowledge that every user there use on everyday basics). I'm talking about Forums that exist on darknet. Dread is one of the most popular. Download TOR and search "dread" on google. You will find your way there pretty easy.

This isn't a forum, but it's a good guide to Bitcoin & privacy.

It says a lot in regards to the general direction of bitcoin and this forum that no active / dedicated anonymity and privacy discussion section really exists.

Yea weirdly enough. While I wished we had one, I don't think it's THAT bad though. Privacy is still a pretty frequent discussion scattered around the forum, but mostly on the Bitcoin Discussion and the Beginners & Help section. Not having a dedicated section for this just makes topics less organized, and that's pretty much it.

Probably it is not so easy. Try to find something here in the forum, some samples - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5051840.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5051840.0), https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3337326.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3337326.0). One of best site is this too - https://www.privacytools.io/ (https://www.privacytools.io/).
