Title: Ethereum/Bitcoin Wallet Balance Calculator
Post by: GreatArkansas on November 14, 2020, 04:09:27 AM
Anyone here knows what website or platform I can use to check my Bitcoin wallet address or Ethereum how much already the profits or losses I already made from the time/date I deposited some amount of Bitcoin/Ethereum?
It's like it will show you the price of Ethereum/Bitcoin for every time that address received funds.

Does your wallet not have this functionality?

You can import them into electrum and do it that way -(the bitcoin ones). Not sure about ethereum but a Web wallet or somewhere like etherscanight have the info.

Also if you've been using an exchange/bank account to convert INTO they might be able to give you a copy of all the transactions...

My wallet does not have this functionality.
I already found one for Ethereum, I used Ethplorer, I also tried the Etherscan but it's different from what I want to see, Ethplorer is much better.

Only for Bitcoin now I can't see some Ethplorer like block explorer. Connecting my wallets to electrum is a kinda hassle since I am checking multiple Bitcoin addresses and they are from separate Bitcoin wallets.
Thank you by the way.

I'm afraid there is none. You will have to save the price at the time of deposit manually or check it online using historical data from Coingecko for both bitcoin and ethereum. You can compare it with the current prices from there then calculate P/L.

What format would you like it in? If you're using a desktop/laptop machine you can go to blockchain.com/btc/address and just click the balance beneath the first transaction (where it used to say Unconfirmed Transaction!) And the values should convert into dollar.

There used to be an option to change currency but I don't know what it is now...

Edit: I found a btc usd toggle at the top right corner too.

Edit 2: I don't think it stores information time based so you might be better off with electrum or waiting to see if anyone can provide anything better... You can dump quite a lot of addresses quickly from most pieces of software though too that electrum can search through and any unused ones light add privacy...

Electrum does have such feature?

I am using my native currency for fiat value so I get the fiat value of deposit money only while the transaction is in unconfirmed status and for the next few days but after that it shows only no data when switching to fiat value.

Is there anything wrong with my settings?

There are many explorers for ETH and you can check them. (Compilation) What is the best Ethereum explorer? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153067.0). I don't know any of them have the calculator you need.

Not sure about the android app but the desktop wallet has it:

Tools > Preferences > Fiat > and then (and in addition to the show fiat values) check both "Show capital gains" and "Show history rates".

Some sources may not work, so try to change that if it ever shows "No data".

Never thought about analyzing profits from the wallet itself that is why I didn't check it, but even on the desktop version my native currency remains the same I guess, but I will check and update it back when get to my desktop.

You can create a portfolio and specify the purchase price.

Blockfolio, dropstap, etc. will help you with this.

What do you mean how much the profit and loss? do you mean the difference of the price point that you received the amount compared to its actual price in the current time? I think it would be simple yet complex to program a script that connects the blockchain API and finds the certain btc price of the receiving/sending date and time, API that finds the histories of a wallet's transaction, and compare it to the current price of the market. Good idea btw, if I managed to finish some of my projects, I might consider trying this one. But TBH, I don't see any necessities of doing so. If you spent your btc, you never mind how much you should've saved. And if you still holding it, I never see the importance of knowing how much you earned from the point you've received it.

There are a lot of third-party applications that enable you to do price analyzes and reveal your profits, losses, or even calculate your taxes as you need to extract your master public key and then these applications can calculate everything.
One example of this is https://coinstats.app/en/
You can use the site or download their app.
it is better to use more secure wallet than tracking your profits

I haven't used blockfolio for a long time. Just like OP, I became interested to know the snap shots of those periods when we've done transfers, including the received and sent amount and the price snapshot by that time.

What do you mean how much the profit and loss? do you mean the difference of the price point that you received the amount compared to its actual price in the current time?
I guess that's what he meant to say. For example, like the price of bitcoin and Ethereum on exactly this date of 2019 assuming he has received by that time. How much that would be by that time and how much it should be for today. cmiiw.
