Title: Coinbase account temporary Disabled
Post by: Bitcoinsummoner on November 14, 2020, 04:32:12 PM
Today I have logged in and I came to know that my account has been temporary disabled. Now I cant login into my coinbase account. It shows something like below image:
https://image.prntscr.com/image/u1zrbW3gQ-i__NqX1fqAsw.png

Is there anyone who has faced this issue?
What is result it may occur?
I have tried to talk over their phone on their international phone number as there was no contact number for my country also as further as I know there is no contact support for my country. Yet I have filled their contact form, and waiting for their response.

As coinbase does not provide private key/seed and if this problem happen then it is too much risky to use coinbase.

Maybe you violated some rules? Maybe you used coinbase to transfer crypto to gambling sites?

I do not know either I have violated any rules or not. For transferring fund to any gambling site can be a reason for temporary disable of my coinbase account?? I do not think they disable account for sending fund to gambling site. Are you sure that they disable account for transferring fund to any gambling site??

It's hard to determine the specific reason why your account got disable since there's a lot of things to consider in there ToS. This is issue is always happening once you violate some terms on there ToS. I suggest that you open a ticket about your concern on there support. Your concern is under the login issue category>temporary disable.

Direct link for the support: https://help.coinbase.com/en/contact-us.html

Give us update once you get a reply from there support.

You said there is no phone support in your country. Which country is it?

Coinbase has in the past, and I'm assuming still will block your account for sending TO gambling sites that we in the US are not allowed to use.

If you are are in a country that has similar rules then they are probably going to block you.

Also, if you are in one of their ever changing lists of countries that they don't deal with then you might just get blocked then too.

Yeah it can be one of the reasons, I don't know in your case. They rules says it:

By opening a Coinbase Account, you confirm that you will not use your Coinbase Account and/or any Coinbase Services to do any of the following:

Gambling: Lotteries; bidding fee auctions; sports forecasting or odds making; fantasy sports leagues with cash prizes; internet gaming; contests; sweepstakes; games of chance.

If they block my account then where the fund will goes? Do they usually lock all the fund or they will send the fund to any wallet other than coinbase. Several months ago I have heard that coinbase disable account and they give option to withdraw fund to any wallet except coinbase. In that case they didn't disable login. But for my case they disabled my login.

Thank you very much for the information.

Base on the experience of some of their users, and based on their terms, it's a Yes.

By opening a Coinbase Account, you confirm that you will not use your Coinbase Account and/or any Coinbase Services to do any of the following:
[...]
5. Gambling: Lotteries; bidding fee auctions; sports forecasting or odds making; fantasy sports leagues with cash prizes; internet gaming; contests; sweepstakes; games of chance

Now, if you really use your CB account to deposit or transfer btc to any gambling website then I guess it might be the case.

[EDIT] Ah someone posted the terms related to gambling already, my bad.

You're lucky enough if they let your funds to be withdrawn and close your account, but if not then that's a pain in the ass...

Is there anyone who can help me or solved issue like this. Feeling frustrated.

That's the disadvantage of using a custodial web wallet. A year back they disabled my account, but they allowed me to withdraw the funds to some other wallet except coinbase. It seems they disabled your account without returning your funds. Yea, most likely it would be gambling reason or they detect something suspicious according to terms. So only coinbase support would help you in that case. I haven't seen any recent account ban case of coinbase.

I will suggest, please do not use a web or custodial wallet to store your funds. So you may avoid such problems in the future.

If they cant provide any support to my country then why they are providing service to my country? I ddidn't understand their business policy.

Btw did you receive a warning message from CB before they disabled your account the same as this user on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/nitrogensports/comments/5g82h8/coinbase_warning_me_about_gambling_any_tips/)? I wonder if they just disabled your account without giving warning, though that user experienced 3 years ago, maybe they just change their attitude regarding those users who violate their TOS.

I'm afraid that there's no one here who can solve that issue besides CB, you should wait for their response regarding this issue, and hoping they will let you withdraw your remaining funds there.

I have never received any warning from them. Also I have not got any message while they temporary disable. I saw it while I tried to login into my account. It is matter of sorrow that from their automated email I came to know that they do not provide any contact support to my country. I think they provide contact support only few listed countries. I am thinking if I can't contact with them then how I will get solution!!

They do respond on other social media platforms.

Twitter:
https://twitter.com/CoinbaseSupport
Or
https://twitter.com/coinbase

Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/user/coinbasesupport/
Or
https://www.reddit.com/user/CoinbaseSecurity/

The other option is to go in "sideways" and call a support line for another country and see if you can make any headway there.
Also, keep in mind it's Saturday. Their already slow support is slower on the weekend.

I have the same issue before and I want to transfer my funds from Coinbase before but it keeps saying that my account is disable even I didn't receive the bitcoin from gambling casino.
I tried to contact them and get responds but they always redirect me to their help page.

There is someone on reddit who told me to try Blockchain app and it works without any issue.

So try to install the Blockchain wallet in your phone then login with your current account.

If it doesn't work try to reset your Coinbase account password it could be fix this kind of issue according to this guide below.

They will still respond to your support tickets but it may take few days or even weeks until that you have to wait because there is no other option. If your violated their Tos then they will permanently block you from using coinbase and they will let you to withdraw funds in there if there is anything so this was just due to some kind of security measures based on suspicion I guess.

I would actually skip to this step first. According to your linked article, this message is due to a security issue with your account.

Either the OP clicked on a link instructing CB to 'freeze' their account, or CB detected a hacking attempt into the OP's account, or the OP tried to reset his password, and CB detected something unusual.

I think your fund will not be affected as I have seen one user to get their account disabled but coinbase gave the option to withdraw his fund. Search with how to delete coinbase account, that way yoh may get a way to get your fund back. They don't hold fund as far as I know.

I hope it will give hope to op as that what I have read also before from a user. Before they totally block someone's account from their platform and if it has an existing amount, they will allow you to withdraw it or they'll do it automatically with the address you will provide to them.
But wait until the support gets on your case and will give sets of instructions on how you could overcome this.

That is the risk of using any centralized exchanges.... it may look great to you and one day when Bitcoin is at ATH for example, Coinbase just stops working  :P
Or like in your case they can block your account for whatever reason, and maybe even including your address being flagged by them or they think something is suspicious.
It's better that you never keep any coins on exchanges - not your keys, not your bitcoins.

If you are unsure about this I think it is best for you to contact their support because I have seen a lot of custodial wallets have this in their TOS that they temporary freeze your accounts as any transactions coming from gambling websites is one of their terms. It's best to contact them so you can immediately have a solution with them. And based from what I have seen this is something that is not permanent as I think they have it in their terms

When i do make use of my coinbase app they do had that new user agreement that you would need to read on and that mostly talks about users outside  countries that do make use of this platform.

One of the rules that they had stated that they do prohibit out multi-accounts on single IP which would might a reason for such disable of account?

Its one of the risk on using up exchange platforms yet you dont possess the keys then you would really be having a hard time on getting those coins back in case of block.

Support of coinbase is somewhat responsive compared to others. The only thing you can do is to wait up for their response.

Here's the latest TOS: https://static-assets.coinbase.com/email/tos_nov_2020/cbpl_cbel.pdf

I do not think they disable account for sending fund to gambling site. Are you sure that they disable account for transferring fund to any gambling site??

You should read again the TOS of that exchange  to understand why ,if you really use that wallet for gambling then that's might be the primary reasons why your account is now blocked.

There are many thread created before the same with whats your problem right now.
So coinbase closed my account for gambling... (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1231723.0)

NOTICE OF ACCOUNT CLOSURE - CoinBase  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1799597.0)

Coinbase closing account. Move your fund on other wallet ASAP  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4428142.0)

If you are a gambler I suggest to use wallet that you have full control and you own the keys not a custodial wallet like coinbase it's not safe to store your  crypto currency there.
You can also read this guide to how to avoid being blacklisted in coinbase .

You are right that using centralized wallet is too much risky specially when there is no support.

To inform all of you, I have received an email from coinbase to upload my bank statement to https://coinbase.sendsafely.com/dropzone/cx-files/03070256
I have already submitted my bank statement. Though I am confused this statement will work or not as they mentioned trading statement of my bank with coinbase. I have no trading on coinbase as no buy/sell option available from my country with coinbase.

You are lucky enough to get a response from the coinbase. ;D but as you said I too don't think it may work because where nothing maybe related to your trading activity transactions on coinbase then why they are still asking for such useless but sensitive data. Probably they will ask you for the source of your bitcoin that is why they asked for so be prepared to give the details of your crypto income to this shittiest wallet service.

They may ask anything to proof the identity or to avoid money laundering. As many exchanges are working for anti-money laundering. But I noticed on the forum or somewhere else that they are not regulated. If that is correct then don't know why they are asking/will ask such information. Anyway, I would be able to provide if they want to know my source of fund. But to prof that will not be easy.

In principle, if you have violated terms and conditions, they can always block you.

The only question is what will happen with your remaining money.

They can't just confiscate it either, but they can say it's fraud and then open an investigation (or at least say they do to hold the money)

Most likely they will return your money when they find you violated their terms but they are not going to confirm anything they will just let it on the hold status and let the poor users be on frustrations for years because they know people who are trading in huge can make legal actions and take the funds from them but people with few hundreds are not going to legal actions because it is going to cost few more hundreds.

I had my account disabled (nuked, actually) about 5 years ago, and there was no warning given to me then.  I never received or sent any bitcoin from gambling or any other prohibited or illegal businesses.  The reason I got nuked was my fault and it was a mistake I made when trying to buy a small amount of bitcoin with a checking account I had linked to Coinbase that I'd recently closed.  I chose the wrong funding source by mistake, and then I got the e-mail stating that my account was closed.

TL;DR:  Coinbase is fuckin' brutal with their customers, and I don't think anything's changed since I was one of them.

The only question is what will happen with your remaining money.
Coinbase is regulated by the US government, and they can't just seize a customer's funds because that customer broke Coinbase's TOS.  I suspect OP will get his coins/money back, though I'm not sure why he's seemingly having so much trouble.

So, Finally my problem has been solved.
You got your funds back, or you got back access to your account?

I have got access of my account with all the fund.

Most likely they will return your money when they find you violated their terms but they are not going to confirm anything they will just let it on the hold status
I have already got my account back. They have not told me anything which I did. Either I made any mistake or break any of their terms of service.
