Title: Monero exchange?
Post by: bmoscato on November 14, 2020, 10:28:33 PM
Question for those that mine Monero in the US... where do you exchange your Monero for BTC or USD?

***EDIT***

I'm not sure why this was moved out of the alt coin section since the question is focused on Monero miners and what exchanges they use...

You can ask this question to the specific threads of Monero. One for the announcement and the other is for the speculations of XMR.
[XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0)
[XMR] Monero Speculation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.0)

The only decentralized exchange I can think of, if you are reluctant to complete KYC verification is bisq (https://bisq.network/markets/?currency=xmr_btc)
If you don't mind about KYC, check out monero markets listed on coingecko and see if you can get any suitable exchange for US customers. I can see Kraken among them (https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/monero#markets)

Here's a not-so-easy solution:

1. Sell your XMR for BTC/USDT on exchanges like Binance
2. Withdraw the BTC/USDT from Binance to your preferred US exchange
3. Sell the BTC/USDT for USD

or..

You can sell the XMR straight to USD on peer-to-peer exchanges like HodlHodl[1], LocalCryptos[2], and Bisq[3].

I'm a NY resident and Bianance doesn't allow us to utilize their service.

It has been moved now to Service Discussion (Altcoins). What I mean is that you can ask this to the specific threads that I've mentioned. You don't have to create a new thread. And if you do, you can lock this topic and continue the discussion on those threads.
I'm sure many Monero holders/investors and miners would come to help you and will give you options.

I tried checking out the localcryptos marketplace yesterday but no trader sells or buys monero in there. Probably because they don't support or haven't listed it as yet. I do see;
- Bitcoin
- Ethereum
- Litecoin
- and DASH only even under the US traders marketplace; https://localcryptos.com/Ethereum/United_States/Sell

Have you tried coinbase pro? it's available for NY resident since coinbasepro has acquired bitlicense to be operated in NY. I think that it's quite difficult to find that consider only a few exchange sites that have acquired the bitlicense. You can trade your XMR on coinbasepro.

https://freebitcoins.com/xchange/market/Bitcoin-Monero (https://freebitcoins.com/xchange/market/Bitcoin-Monero)

Fast sign up, no invasion of privacy (you don't even have to use an email if you don't want to), no limits on withdraws, but no fiat markets... only Bitcoin.

The liquidity has been growing slowly but surely.

https://localmonero.co/ is a good place to sell XMR for fiat.  It's like LocalBitcoins before they ruined their site.

I wrote a longer article about the two websites here (https://freebitcoins.com/blog/the-best-exchanges-to-buy-sell-monero-anonymously-in-2021/).

Monero is the future thus far... they are winning the game and are srsly undervalued.
