Is there any current project distributing free coins or having Airdrops?

You can be sure that there are always airdrops going on every day, but you also need to keep in mind that 95% of those coins you get via this way will never be worth anything.
And most of the time airdrops nowadays are not real airdrops anymore because you have to follow twitter, facebook or join a telegram grp or something else. For real airdrops you have to do nothing you get them for free.
There are also website that list all ongoing airdrops and even have exclusive airdrops from time to time like airdropalert.com or airdrops.io you might want to check those sites out.

It's still free as long as you didn't pay anything or submit KYC to participate in airdrops.

Not really there are majority of legit airdrops that let you requires to at least do some task such as twitter follow, joined telegram or any kind of social connecting to their platform. Its not really you get without anything to do in return. There are some actually like that but its rare. As far as I know airdrop with so many that Ive joined in the past. I could say its really form of a promotion in a very subtle way.

(c) those airdrop tokens are worthless in the long run

Check the bounties, tons of airdrops awaits you there. But don't you expect that there will be various of free money that will be given to you. Yep, they will distribute free tokens but there will be no assurance that they will have actual value if the projects succeeds. There's not that much effort anymore in airdrop and your expectation could fail you.

If you are looking for an any projects that distribute a free coins try to search in the bounty and there awaits a lot of projects that are possible for you. There's no specific date to when this happens again, I'd just loved to recall those golden old days seeing my wallet having higher value. i believe their are some Airdrop and bounties campaign that pay you after completing their task and you earn coins, but you must no that the probability of their coins to worth anything is not certain.

I think better you active with telegram channel because right now many flash airdrop, you need fill form only and give your wallet depend which one needed because some time wallet need by airdrop bsc and erc20. why I said with flash airdrop because only available for few minutes and if you late form close and you can't participated any more.
