I know that preev.com is not the best calculator in the net. However, i guess is one of the most known used calculator. We all know preev and maybe still use it for btc/usd calculation at least, i do. Preev is one of the oldest if not the oldest bitcoin calcutor .
Today, for the first time since a very long time, preev doesn't work. This is how it looks :

You can tell us if you know something about it.

I was just coming in to discuss this. Not sure why but I've been enjoying checking preev all day.

Thanks for the info about bitmovers converter, I'll check it out.

I used to be a regular preev user in the past. Preev is a respectable pioneer in this. Anway, this was also the same message shown in the past a number of times when preev was down. So I guess this is probably just another temporary pulling out from their host, heroku, for maintenance.

Something something simple and lightweight. The reason why I've been using Preev a lot is because it gives you the necessary information(bitcoin's price, obviously) without any unnecessary fluff.

Almost the first thing I check when I open my browser and even before opening bitcointalk is preev... I had problem opening it yesterday and I thought it will be fixed in few hours but apparently :'(
I used coinmarketcap but bitmover' s service seems good too, $18k yay!

yeah, i've been using preev for few years, almost always open on my phone and pc  :o i hope it comes back. this snipta is the closest but doesnt update in realtime, but faster than coinval which would be good as well.

I searched the web yesterday after i posted this topic and found that preev has been down several times during the last years but easly back to work. Maybe for updates reasons.
By publishing this thread i was intended to hear from someone who know why it was down and if there are any problems with it .

Ouep just checked it now and it is working again. Easy, simple and convenient but we learned something about similar sites with more options at least (ie bitmover's one).
This topic can be locked now tho :)

I just made it 2 days ago, looks like it was a good timing as Preev was down the whole day.

I was also concerned about it a few days back but today i checked and found that the site is back online.

Fix your browser / internet first.

He is not complaining that the site doesn't work. BUt that it load tons of trash.
0.5MB to get a bitcoin price and convert a few units? You can do that with less than 60kb.

In those 0.5MB there are many cookies spying you, ads, whatever.

You loaded faster because you already cached most of that 0.5MB. For the first access, you have to download it all.

Preev.com is a Simple Bitcoin Converter with no links to social media, no portfolio and no alerts.
Therefore coinval.co could not be an alternative to preev.com with all these overheads.

Disable social media by using the 'noshare' button.
Easily avoid portfolio and alerts overhead by not clicking on those two buttons.

Why should anyone bother himself using additional functions avoiding to install all the data trash ?
The goal is simple checking the price convert, that's it. Coinval is an alternative but not that best as concluded from adolfin post.
As the preev is back running and this was the occasion to discover the one ade by bitmover, i think better to move this discussion to bitmover ANN topic calculator and close this one .

If any day preev.com is closed, only then i may think of Coinval or any other service provider for bitcoin calculator. Preev.com is the most widely used bitcoin calculator and there is no better alternative for it.
