Title: [SCAM ALERT] surveyuniswap.org asking for seed phrase or private key Post by: TimeTeller on November 20, 2020, 01:26:20 AM What happened::
Few hours ago, I received an email congratulating me that I was chosen to take part of their survey. If you submitted your entry, they said they will credit 200UNI token in return. That is their clickbait, the 200 UNI token. Please see below snapshot of the email : https://i.imgur.com/FSCqJJW.png But if you check their website, at the bottom to complete the survey, they will ask your seed phrase or private key. No legit survey or website will ask your private keys. https://i.imgur.com/96oFpDr.png Scammers Website: http://surveyuniswap.org/survey.html Amount Scammed: No record yet Additional Notes: For those that received this email, please ignore it as it is just an attempt to get your seed phrase or private key to empty your wallets. Don't be deceived by 200 UNI tokens as it is not coming from the official uniswap website. Already reported it to google as phishing website For those who want to report this site to google - https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en The more we submitted this site to google as phishing website (asking for private keys), the higher the chance, google will take this down. Avoid newbies and other users to fall on this trap. Using spam to spread those links is another thing that should warn everyone. But we know how much people doesnt care and just go for it. And a few dont know what the private keys are for.

Checked the website details on whois (https://whois.domaintools.com/surveyuniswap.org), it just created yesterday (1 days old) and looks like the site has been taken down. Title: Re: [SCAM ALERT] surveyuniswap.org asking for seed phrase or private key Post by: ScamViruS on November 20, 2020, 07:26:30 PM In this way, the scammers are ready to scam people with new ideas. They could have done better if they had used their talents for the good purpose. Those who are new to the crypto market and have little idea about scams easily fall prey to these scams. So a crypto user pushes them at the beginning of their journey into the crypto market.
Good job OP. You have warned many people by exopse this fake website. Seems that google is fast in flagging down the site. Thanks for that. I forgot to archive the site as they may used that format again. When I created this thread, they are still up but reported also to google as phishing website. If they are already down, there will be no victim with this scam anymore. But hopefully, they won't create another one. Title: Re: [SCAM ALERT] surveyuniswap.org asking for seed phrase or private key Post by: TheUltraElite on November 21, 2020, 05:56:22 AM It seems to me that 99% of those who use uniswap in their name or mention it are scam There are several things to it. Uniswap has become popular to exchange DeFi tokens easily and they have received a large private funding from several crypto OGs out there. Bad thing about becoming popular in this sector which is unregulated legally, is that scammers will attempt to use your name to run their scam and there is no way you can stop them directly.Using Uniswap's name allows the Search Engines to Optimise results, typically known as SEO and this is done to attract results to their webpage. From there newbies who did not know the correct site name and were looking for the actual Uniswap site ended on the scam site. Although this one reported by the OP was an Email, the SEO is done and that is also a method of promoting the scam. Title: Re: [SCAM ALERT] surveyuniswap.org asking for seed phrase or private key Post by: target on November 21, 2020, 06:30:29 AM SEO is a good skill to monetize, its the holy grail for webmasters.
Scam is due to the airdrop that they did in the past, now scammers are still using that airdrop to extract some private keys of individuals wanting to get Uni tokens for free. 200UNI is a big amount, a victim to be could figure its too good to be true. The other one of these airdrop phishing attempt was only targeting users with ETH on their wallet. Title: Re: [SCAM ALERT] surveyuniswap.org asking for seed phrase or private key Post by: cryptoaddictchie on November 21, 2020, 07:08:37 AM Damn has anyone who would fall with this? Give your private key and address. It's like letting you scam from face to face. Problem here are those newbies that don't know the importance of keeping the private key on his own. There are some instances when I was a newbie airdrops asking for this and since a lot are not familiar that when your Pk has been public that anyone can open it already they are just keep filling up form.
Its okay if they are giving a zero wallet but what if it has funds? Then sorry you will be drained by them. Thanks OP for sharing. This is a basic style of scamming but still would be notified members that it's a scam. |
