Title: Bring back the Bitcoin FUN during this ATH period :->
Post by: Kakmakr on November 20, 2020, 08:32:06 AM
In 2017 with the last ATH (All-time-high) this forum was a fun place to be.. because people created fun Puzzles and Quiz games and Treasure hunts.  (Geo locations) ....but those times are gone now.  ??? ??? ???

People are now only talking about profits and "How high will the price go" type of discussions...  ::)  So let's bring back  the FUN times when people celebrated the high prices with giveaways and fun games and exiting new projects.

Go to the Games and Rounds section now and the only thing you see is gambling related giveaways and bonuses (Promotions) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=71.0

Bring back the good old times, when you could not wait to login again to see who solved the next step in the Quiz or Puzzle that was on offer! (Most companies are making good profits now, so they can help to fund the prizes)  ;)

Let's discuss.  ;D

Most of the companies are also thinking about their own profit these days. The more they earn the more they are stronger players in the crypto space.

It's not that we don't want profit, everyone is here for that along with the information/contribution purpose. But it's but obvious everyone's mind is moving towards financial settings, and the question is why not?

We do have lot of fun games in the Games and Round section. Though they are not quizes, Q&A but big casino's are giving some strategic tasks to play where you have to apply your logics, knowledge to play it.

So it is completely fine if we are not seeing those "traditional" games these days.  :D

It was a one way to motivate people to always visit here in the forum. Now, that the forum has been doing well in terms of the number of registered users, number of onlines and pile of post per day then I guess it did not become necessary and this is why we are not seeing it now. However, I wish too I could join if there could be any because this is the first time I am seeing bitcoin got a real value and first to anticipate bitcoin bull run.

Right now everyone are keen making profits. The gambling sites have their own way of profiting. People have used to it. When they feel of having fun, they just go find one of the reputed gambling site to spend.

Now there is more chances of making fun out of puzzles and games. Here no need of sponsors. Winning a puzzle or a technical game surely requires knowledge. So, as an appreciation we can give merits to the user solving the puzzle. This will make more users get active on these games.

10 years ago, the price of Bitcoin was very cheap, and this forum held a lot of Bitcoin until 2017,
and I believe most of them also bought it in 2017 when the price was ATH, and since then people have been lazy to make games,
if the price of Bitcoin is able then All time high again, I'm sure there will be puzzle games that provide rewards, because people are happy with the profit that Bitcoin provides.

ah yes, i remember those times. We used to have legitimate users giving away coins just for the fun of it, and we also had the companies coming in here with their puzzles and cryptograms with hidden btc, but it was obvious PR...can't find the threads, though

but it's not like those "games" stopped after the bull run,  last year we had this one: Ok, here's a 1BTC puzzle (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5096267.10)

tbh though, having a good time in the forum =! having a bunch btc giveaways and puzzles and quizzes

Usually, with these sort of "giveaways" its to promote their business in some way or another. I think there's only been a few individuals that have made puzzles, that wasn't connected to some sort of gambling website. I might be wrong on that, but I know there's still a few puzzles open. I can't remember the username of the user now, but there's still a wager out there that if you guess the password of the brain wallet, and prove its insecure then you get to keep it. I believe the Bitcoin is still in there. I do think the creator might have mistaken what is meant that brain wallets are insecure, not because the brain wallet itself is inherently insecure, but the way they are used are.

I do recall a reward being hidden inside a image, was that ever solved?

Let's see if there are popular companies that would like to fund this kind of Bitcoin FUN while we are waiting for the bull season as the market is starting to move upward right now where we are near in reaching the new ATH of bitcoin any moment because of bitcoin hype.

I am not that good in terms of Puzzle, Treasure hunts and Quiz but it would be very interesting to experience this kind of FUN if there will be brave companies that are willing to  host this kind of Bitcoin FUN like what happen last 2017.

The end of the year is often full of corrections, so we see the month of December, when bitcoin can return to below $ 15,000.
next year will be hot so either 30,000 or less than 9000
It is like waves. Once we break a barrier, people keep yearning for the bigger wave without thinking about how to benefit from the previous wave and prepare if there are no waves at all.

Bitcoin treasure hunt is so much fun but the problem is that on this forum you can find people from many continents and even if somebody hides something in, say, Helsinki, are you going to go there to look for it?

What I'm trying to say is 99.9% of forum members won't even be able to play this game because there's less than 1% chance that something gets hidden in an area where you can travel without spending a lot of money.

If someone is willing to start a game of some kind I'll be happy to participate.

I remembered that time where bitcoin in 2017 is near hitting its ATH, There were some mini-games everywhere about price predictions and the hype is all over the world. Even the media in our country is reporting about bitcoin's sudden growth and my friends who don't know about bitcoin suddenly have an interest in it. It was so much fun before, Everyone is having very high hopes about bitcoin while we hodlers are having fun seeing the community getting crazy about bitcoin.

The good thing about these mini-games is we are seeing other speculation and the price they want bitcoin to reach. I miss it a lot.

Things have changed drastically over last 3 years and now it's all about profit and greed which will be discussed over the forum as we are missing out the basics of crypto currency it has become like a Ponzi scheme or some lucky draw wherein everyone wants to buy at low and sell at high to earn more profit but least bothered about the technology.

It doesn't hurt to reminisce those times when forum members are having fun showing their intellects and IQ's solving those puzzle.  I am one of those who are interested to know who will solve the puzzle even though I never participated myself.  The problem right now is the person who is eager to host the event and the sponsor who will pay the rewards ;D.  If someone will initiate it, I believe many will surely participate.

2017 was exactly like it's now - everyone talking about the price, because that's what brings a lot of people to Bitcoin - the desire to get rich quick. And asking for other people to make giveaways isn't really far from begging - no one is obligated to give out their hard-earned Bitcoins. I view these giveaways, quests, treasure hunts, puzzles as an occasional fun activity, not as some potential source of income or a tradition in crypto community.

now such games don't exist unlike in 2017, now just looking for profit and in my opinion that's enough, bitcoin up to $ 18900 is already giving quite a bit of profit, and again the bounty hunters seem to be getting quite a reward too.  like this alone I'm satisfied compared to last year's gloomy.

I guess all those companies you’re talking about that are funding the giveaways back then we’re just doing it to draw people’s interest, and maybe now they have gotten what they wanted and they have decided to stop it. There is no lies in what you have said, the old days were better than now, so many things have changed.

Back then there were so many reasonable topics and I can remember that no one was really talking about bull run and asking annoying questions about when price will go down so they will make profit, people were more focused on other things that kept the forum fun. And it’s not just about this forum, everything about crypto fresh and fun, from faucets to every other thing. A lot of things really changed.

Guess what, I was thinking of the same thing a few days back and since then I was preparing to bring a game/quiz/puzzle for the forum users.
I will soon think it through and bring out something with some prize money.
It will just be a fun activity to bring a little excitement in the forum users.
I was just thinking which board to post it to and reading your post makes my choice easier.
Games and round will be the best place for upcoming game.  ;)

I could still recall those days where there are lots of exciting games and giveaways here in the forum. Those were the days when most of us are motivated not just because of the ATH but because of people who are sharing their blessings while everyone is enjoying themselves at the same time. I'm hoping that we could still experience those things again in the coming days.

I remember the time when Bitcoin already reached $10,000 in mid-2017, it's where I slowly start my crypto and blockchain career. However, I am focusing on writing as a contributor of an esports blog and paid in Bitcoin that time. During that day, I had no idea about ICOs, airdrops and bounty programs until I saw some Facebook ads and met some locals who are already involved in Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, etc. I honestly agree that it was one of the most exciting times because of BTCs rally to $20k (unfortunately due to ICOs and market's not matured that time). Now we are feeling the excitement again, and it gets even better because the market's much more matured.

The real fun will start when we cross the 2017 ATH again. 2017 is a year like no other, we maybe heading towards a better year than 2017, although things can't be like 2017 again, a lot has changed, bitcoin is now much more precious than 2017. Financial institutions are fighting real hard tyo grab as much bitcoin they can.

I think most people nowadays that are having their good numbers in crypto portfolio won't give freely their coins. First, we are still in pandemic crisis and everyone wants to keep their funds within themselves. Second, the price of btc is projected to be valuable in the coming years. So they will keep their btc as much as they can and won't share freely. Maybe we will see good promos and games in casinos but for an individual holder, I don't think he will be willing to share his btc for nothing.

~snip~

I understand on what you are pertaining into man but you are right as of this moment where people do already talk about everynow and then about making profits.
This is why i do leave out those boards yet i cant see one and majority is focusing on gambling and this is why i do love to hang out on WO thread instead
where i can feel the fun out of those early adopters who had been chatting and making out memes about this price movement.
it might not be that involving some money but still you do enjoy on reading it up.

It's always fun to have puzzle and quiz games and it's really popular on a lot of platforms, a lot of people are interested in solving it but it's quite difficult to solve.

I guess we could always bring back these times and still the ATH of bitcoin is not yet reach, it's still critical and most of the investors are still holding to their investment in my opinion.

I remember a high reward on a puzzle on twitter and it almost looks like impossible to be solved. ;D
