Title: I can finally call myself a Self-made Legendary member
Post by: Pmalek on November 20, 2020, 10:20:47 AM
Since it has become a customary practice to write a few lines after an on-forum achievement, I will join the fun.

Since yesterday night, I now belong to the club of those members who have received 1000 merits on the forum (not counting the airdropped merits). After a quick count, based on the data that tranthidung has compiled here, (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5115154.msg55603666#msg55603666) the list consists of 103 different users.

I was a Hero member when the merit system was introduced, and following my 1500 merit last night, I am now at 1000 awarded merits. The system works if you play along and show some effort in your posting habits. I am not the most knowledgeable member but I still made it into a prestigious group.

Be helpful, be positive, and contribute in any way you can. Be ready to praise and accept criticism - it's all part of the process. Admit your mistakes, correct them, and accept the other side of the story, if it is the correct one. Try to help and correct those who want to be part of the forum and are just starting out. Everyone is a noob at one point in his life and that is nothing to be ashamed off. There are still so many things that I don't know or have never tried, but one day, e?

All hail bitcoin!

First I want to say you congrats that you have reached 1500 merits/1000 earned merits. That means you were already Legendary member with airdropped merits+earned merits? And now you are feeling more glad by reaching 1000 earned merits, Right? Or just you upgraded to Legendary? (Though it could not match with the requirements) :)

I am always seeing you actively participating in Developmental and Technical Discussion board and I must say that I learned a lot especially from your replies in Lightning Network FAQ thread which also inspires me to dive into more technical stuff.

Anyhow, it's always interesting to see your replies as they are easy to understand so..please be consistent with that one. Congratulations! I hope my time will come too!!

Congratulations to you legendary Pmalek, you've supported other users to rank up (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5085605.msg48700554#msg48700554), and now you've achieved your own personal milestone of a thousand 'earned' merits, now I hope you still keep up with your 'drive' of HQ posts on the forum, so more users will benefit/learn from your efforts.
All hail bitcoin!
18k+,hell yeah, "all hail Bitcoin" ;D

You don't have to be the most knowledgeable, but if you show a desire to learn, and understand any aspect of the forum or Bitcoin then I think you'll be recognized. In fact, I would like to see more merit being awarded to those that have asked some questions with a little bit of effort gone into it. I've seen this done a few times, and have done so myself, but I think we should be trying to award those that are trying to get better, while presenting some effort while doing so, instead of those that just have all the answers. At the end of the day, the merit system is there to help filter out the "weak" users, and reward those that are making an effort, and good posts by helping them along the way of ranking up, but the most knowledgeable users are usually those that have been here for a while, and therefore has learned from experience.

Wow congrats sir!
I hope I can get to that point too, even if it seems difficult and vague. But it really inspires me! I know there's so many things i need to learn but I will persevere.

Self-made legendary, that is some kind of proud moment, so congratulations on your achievement!

I need to admit that I am not on the right side yet because I am lacking to earn merits consistently even though I am really trying to be better and somewhat helpful for the fellow forum members. I believe that I could be posting my achievement thread here someday. :)

7 years are long enough and you are grandfather on the forum. Many grandfather members left the forum but you don't. I hope you will be around for another 7 years.

Congratulations for your 1000 earned merit as long as you don't have to challenge yourself like that. Stay safe!

Congratulation. You did it and well deserved. Happy to see that you have shared a few truths. I have accepted much criticism on the forum, but I never give up. I just concentrate on my contributions and eventually I achieve my desired rank Legendary. Although earning merits isn't an easy task lately, but it's possible by contributions and you have proved it once again.

So, those are wondering it's impossible to rank up on the forum then they might take a lesson from your post.

Congratulations on your success in getting 1000+ merit after this system was implemented in the forum. Curious about how long it will take you to strive to achieve this led me to research it on bpip.org and find that it would take you at least 2 years 23 days for your current 1000+ merit. However, this is not a problem because basically contribution is the main thing. We don't need to think about the merit we will get and how long it will take to reach these target because getting used to posting useful thing is an effort that will speed up the rate of earning merit. Here is a history of your merit (https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=Pmalek&start=01-01-2018) from the first time until now and one word for you buddy, incredible.  ;)

A secret admirer in my person is saying congratulations to this your achievements, for you to count your merit by minusing your airdrop to add up to you being a legendary member shows how you believe and value personal hard work, you have earn the right to brag on the forum, you are a member witg very good report sheet and your post are far too many to begin to pick one which do not make senses because you are an epitome of good post history, I know you have more in your banking store to inspire many.

You don't have to be the most knowledgeable, but if you show a desire to learn, and understand any aspect of the forum or Bitcoin then I think you'll be recognized.~

Indeed, but then again the modern standards of this forum nowadays is-- the more and more you learn and spend time learning about crypto or anything helpful to the cryptworld and this forum, would drive you onto a success you deserve having. But if one user became stale and steady on his/her certain knowledge about any certain field of expertise, then I guess it would be too hard and close to be impossible that they would succees.

Congratz to the OP for sharing his success. Soon, after developing apps for the forum, I might be reachin you guys so slow down and wait for me!  ;)

I was a Hero member when the merit system was introduced and was airdropped 500 merits. I then earned 500 merits and got promoted to Legendary. Now I have earned another 500 (1.000+ in total) which makes me a self-made Legendary.

Congratulations! I hope my time will come too!!
Thank you! You have an excellent merit to activity count which means that you are on a good path!

Congratulations to you legendary Pmalek, you've supported other users to rank up (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5085605.msg48700554#msg48700554)...
Not as many as I would have wanted to, but I guess you can't get everything right. At least the merits I earned there were used to support many other ranks.

In fact, I would like to see more merit being awarded to those that have asked some questions with a little bit of effort gone into it. I think we should be trying to award those that are trying to get better, while presenting some effort while doing so, instead of those that just have all the answers. At the end of the day, the merit system is there to help filter out the "weak" users, and reward those that are making an effort...
I hope you don't mind that I shortened your post by highlighting what I feel are the most important parts.

Congratulation Pmalek, great achievement!
I really appreciate your contribution to the forum, specially to our local Croatian board.
Thank you Daniel91! The Croatian local is and remains one of the best parts of this forum. And I honestly believe that. Hopefully with the new bull run, we will see new users join and contribute to it.

@Everyone
Thanks for the kind words and good wishes.

Stay safe out there!

Let's not lose our faith. We'll also get there. As you may have read, it wasn't an easy ride even for those higher members who responded here to get to where they are now. And we're no exceptions. I think all we have to do is do our best to improve every single day. One step at a time but always ahead. :)

As for OP, congratulations! Every story of ranking up from fellow members here, regardless of how they began, always inspires me. Kudos to you and stay safe everyone.

Seeing someone achieves something in this forum makes me more eager  to learn from them, making me realized that if they can, I'm sure I can, it might not be the way that they do it but, if I take every step correctly along the way, sooner or later i'll be able to reach that goal, congratulation in your achievement and im hoping that someday i'm the one that will say i made it this time.

Firstly, I'll congratulate you on archivement and joining in the culture of passing a note of encouragement in your celebration post, it's never an easy task growing through the ranks less you make it easy for yourself and this you have done by being proactive and creative so, you've earned the respect you deserve and have left your print in the sounds of forum ranks for others to emulate and learn from.
Be ready to praise and accept criticism - it's all part of the process. Admit your mistakes, correct them, and accept the other side of the story, if it is the correct one.
This is were it becomes a problem for most users. A lot of users expect appraisal for everything they do and fail to accept other people's view when they don't align with there's not even minding to check if it's true or not. Being one sided is a disease, that's why we've got variety and distinct opinions. Learn.
Congrats for the opportunity, keep doing great works.

I congratulate you for earning merit equal to legendary rank. This achievement was not easy, you deserve it so you have achieved. I also started from zero and have been able to come so far today, maybe I will be able to achieve hero rank in a few days. I like your words, it would be better to accept mistakes and contribute to this forum. I think community members will definitely reward me for my work if I do well. So I’m going to work, and try to make newbies more aware of the different traps.

I believe that this is one of the best parts of Crypto in general.  With all of the different aspects and applications of the different coins, being one sided sort of gets pushed out the door unless an individual is completely closed minded.

I really want to say a very big congratulations to you. To be honest let me say I'm jealous of you, to archive something like this must really take a lot of hard work, sleepless night, commitment and a lot more. I want to be a legendary member or even a hero member someday. It a goal I have set and I will definitely archive someday.
