Title: Suspicious link removed
Post by: Csmiami on November 21, 2020, 05:06:28 PM
During the lsat wave of spam bots, I've actually payed some attention to the links provided, and saw that some of them had been redacted.

Example 1 (https://ninjastic.space/post/55648824)
Example 2 (the most visual one) (https://ninjastic.space/post/55647689)

There's a couple more I could bring, but I don't really feel like digging my report history, and these two were rather recent.

Now, for what I remember on other forums, suspicious links are hand-removed; there's no automated mechanism to redact them. So, is Bitcointalk any different? And if it's not... does a mod really look at that post, decide to redact a few of the links instead of straight trashing it?

I'm asking because I find this last one part hard to believe, but if there's some automated system to delete these links, under what premises does it work? Manual black/white-listed links?

As far as I know, links to URL shorteners are removed automatically and replaced by "Suspicious link removed".

The forum has a database of links that pose a threat to users. Works automatically. Updated manually by the forum staff.

And some of them are those with free domains and/or phishing links that was reported I guess.

And is there any actual criteria that must be met? Or at least that can be revealed; because it'd sure be nice to have the ETHPILL links blacklisted...(I'm aware the scammers would simply change the link, but still)

I already have written that a few times in my thread and asked theymos and cyrus if that links and also the new webpage they Posting the last weeks get blacklisted.
There is not more we can do for asking if they will doing it and give this suggestion.
If they dont doing it we just have to keep reporting this posts.
It would be very helpful if it gets blacklisted.

I may be wrong here, but remember reading it works for more ranks (not sure if all of them). It's just that the "script" is much more focused on newbies, yes :)

Edit: found an example with a Member ranked user: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=175998.msg1832545#msg1832545
Would not really click on the working links though 😁
