It's just incredible how bitcoin did a huge bounce from $1 to $10 within 4 months and then the same from $100 to $1000. The fifty thousands this year (2021) seems too promising. If we reach 25-30k I would be happy. We should not be that optimistic and consider the possibility of dropping some thousands of dollars on its price. Although, I believe that 4 digits have passed their era.

Full your wallets! We all know how millionaires will look in a decade.

First, this should be on the Speculation board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=57.0).

IMO, $50K is quite impossible to reach that price.  We had 1 month and a few days left before this year will end but still, the price didn't hit the $20k, that just what happened in the year 2017.  If there's a new ATH and breaks the previous highest price of Bitcoin, there is possible it will reach that price if resistance will be rapidly increased.

Though the price is unpredictable, I believed that we will reach that target price without a specific date and it might next year.

I started known bitcoin in 2013 which the price is already good enough for me when im using Stellar Coin and still using bitcoin i couldn't imagine if i didn't known bitcoin maybe my life is so hard right now. Just imagine from the bottom and now in the top and number leading crypto currency i wonder if it will hit $20k USD again so i could sell them and open up a new business, If you are thinking about the price will hit that $50k usd maybe it will happen on 2027 or sooner or later expect the unexpected.

This is amazing indeed, no other investment can make such move like Bitcoin did from inception till date. Sometimes whenever i thought about Bitcoin be a safe haven, these are the move i do see to explained to neighbors about this technology and reasons they should get involve into the system before it's too late. The rate at which this Bitcoin move from nothing to something should be recorded into history book for the next generation, in order to keep Bitcoin reputation safe. There is no doubt about the future potential of this coin, those who sell today will definitely regret tomorrow but what matters is profit taking as we journey along.

extraordinary isn't it? not felt since 2009 until now bitcoin has provided many benefits for us all.
I actually can't see the price development from year to year. because in my heart I feel sorry why in 2010 I didn't spend my money just to buy bitcoins.
Bitcoin has grown very rapidly this year, and will next year the price of bitcoin exceed this year? or vice versa?

Bitcoin price is currently around 18k so its unlikely that it would reach even 20k by end of the year.50k target is too high when in 2017 it reached 20k after that price dropped like anything as people started selling.Bitcoin prices are very unpredictable but had a steady growth so who knows it might go up to 50k in next year.

$20,000 17 December 2017

$50,000???????

Will Bitcoin reach this target this year?

it's too far for Bitcoin to reach $50k this year, the highest point is $30k according to probability analysis, so we can expect the price between $22-$25k by the end of December.
6 days left in this month, if bitcoin be able to hit $20k, then the predictions may become reality. However, the rsi indicates bitcoin is still overbought, doesn't mean it can't reach $19k anytime soon and hit $20k within a week.

I think we are in a for a big surge in price. There have been 4 years without any crazy movement and I'm sure, heck, all the big funds you see out there think that Bitcoin is not going to stop here. $50k is an easy target if you ask me, but I believe the adoption needs to raise a bit more (probably a couple of years will be enough) before breaking into the 100ks, but everything is possible.

If we look at Bitcoin's history there has been huge pump and then dump once in every 3 to 4 years and the last such thing happened in 2017 so now considering current market situation and the rate at which Bitcoin has surged in last two months it's pretty clear that we are already in bullrun but it's bit difficult to predict the new ATH as it might wbe much more higher than our expectations, we should not miss this opportunity if ee have bitcoins in our wallet we need to HODL it for some more time and if we don't have one then it would be a huge risk to invest at this time even though we know Bitcoin will reach new ATH but again until whales are active unpredictable can happen as well. Hence we need to be prepared for both.

Looking at 2017, there is a lot to understand. The price of Bitcoin here has only gone beyond $2,000 to $20,000. In 2018, the price of Bitcoin dropped from 18,000 to 3,000. And in 2019 it went from 3500 to 12000. This year starts with a minimum of 5,000. If it is like 2017, 50,000 can go but I don't think it will go that far. $25,000 could take a backseat again.

50K is too optimistic price for bitcoin this year though it is always possible to go up there but I think the obstacle for that price is too difficult for these times still. Not to be pessimist but I can only $25k this year, that's the max price for me this year however it would be very good if it reaches $30k.

Full your wallets! We all know how millionaires will look in a decade.
The best suggestion we could say to anyone asking what is bitcoin  :D

There is still a long way to go to the end of the year and bullish still continues, please take another look at the BTC chart. Say November 01 when BTC was at $13,760 and currently at $18,300. Only 23 days to increase the value to about $4500. Need to increase $2k again by the end of the year I don't think it is impossible.

It's obvious that price of bitcoin this year is very surprising compared to previous years when it happens to be related to 2018 and 2019 price, I understand that what is happening now concerning recent bitcoin price is equivalent to the price of btc in year 2017 according to op analysis via increments of rates of btc 2017 is the highest I have been noted, and the possibility for these year price to reach $20,000 is there.

i wonder if it will hit $20k USD again so i could sell them and open up a new business,

I suggest to you maybe you can sell now the price is still okay for that. If you check 20,000 and 18,000 has little difference than hodling until drop start to affect price. If you sell now, your business can get you the profit and not to lose higher if the price fall.

It's simply unbelievable how bitcoin did a gigantic skip from $10 to $3000 inside one year and afterward the equivalent from $100 to $1000. The fifty thousands this year (2021) appears to be excessively encouraging. In the event that we arrive at 25-30k I would be glad. We ought not be that idealistic and think about dropping around a huge number of dollars on its cost. Despite the fact that, I accept that 4 digits have passed their period.

Will Bitcoin reach this target this year?

It is only a month to the end of this year. I doubt Bitcoin can get to the $50,000 mark. That may be possible in 2021 but this is not ignoring the fact that nothing is impossible when it comes to bitcoin. Price is mostly unpredictable. Whoever thought bitcoin can even go above $10,000 in 2020 after dragging below $4,000 for months.

I do not know what target you are referring to OP but I understand that it is all about the ATH record. Beating the 2017 ATH record would be possible because the current market for bitcoin now draws near to beating it. It is just 1.2K$ I guess and that a new record will be written. My speculation for the bitcoin market would be 25K$ and that is ideal knowing that there are many people know bitcoin and had been also investing to it. There are also few that are new to bitcoin but had been trusting its future use and invested. There are also stock market traders that are now shifted to invest in bitcoin. It just make sense that it could grow in that price which is I think is 25K$.

I still have doubts about this, I don't think the price of bitcoin will reach $ 50k this year, my prediction is that bitcoin will only reach $ 20k. at this time there are factors that hinder economic development in a country, namely the covid-19 virus, the economy in a country has decreased due to this virus.
I just pray that by 2021 the price of bitcoin can reach $ 30k and I also pray that the Covid-19 virus will soon disappear and the economy throughout the country will be good again.

Not yet. $50k for December of 2020 is too quick and unreal. It has to multiply by more than 2 times with the state of its price on $19,106 as of now.
The look back for the past prices of bitcoin looks amazing, isn't it? And if you will also start to look at the all time lows, it's very encouraging that we're holding it until now.

What shocked me personally is: the price of Bitcoin jumped from $100 to $1000 within a space of months which is unbelievable while talk about other investments around the world. Those who bought Bitcoin at the very low price have the wealth distribution of Bitcoin, this technology marvel me most when i gaze at the current price of Bitcoin. It is pretty amazing how we have seen Bitcoins rises up its price from the bottom going to the top from the price base it have when it was just starting and have been created way back the year 2009. It is pretty awesome that after more than 10 years that Bitcoin existed, it have brought up a lot of change not just on its price but as well as for the life if the Bitcoin users that have been into it despite of its ups and downs. Now, with regards to the expectation that Bitcoin's price will be able to reach $50,000 by the end of this year, we are still having about 5 weeks before this year ends and there are still lots of things that could happen with that span of time so basically it could be possible or not. Just do not expect too much to avoid getting disappointed of the outcome. Let us just wait and see if it can push through or not. Anyway, there are still lots of time for Bitcoin to keep growing. Just do not over push and over expect.

Do not expect such a sharp increase in the price. Be prepared for the fact that bitcoin will need a little more time to do this.
The lowest price of Bitcoin in November was 5600 and the highest reached 11500. The lowest price of Bitcoin in December was 9500 and the highest reached 20000. Bitcoin prices had doubled in months of November & December.

Look at this year, the price of Bitcoin has increased at the rate of 5/7 in November. If it continues to grow in this way in December, it will not be impossible to reach 30,000.

It is really amazing to see the bitcoin starting from nothing and growing as huge as we can't imagine right now. Way back before I remember that there is a meme in which they are not believing on what bitcoin id and they are saying that bitcoin will be eventually become scam, but look right now. The bitcoin exceed the expectations of the masses and a lot of people are believing on what bitcoins can do. Talking about if the price of bitcoin will reach around $50,000 before this year ends, who knows? Maybe it will or maybe not. We have long way to go before this year ends so let us all see what would be happen.

Looking at the historical valuation, it looks like a dream that we reached a valuation that no one would in their wildest imagination could comprehend when it all started and we just took a small period of time and to have over 9000% return in such a short period is just amazing. When i started using bitcoin my expectation was that the price would rally around the range of $3000 in the next 3 to 6 years but we now know that it exceeded everyone's expectation.

$50k is still not in the horizon, in my opinion. But in crypto, a lot happens unexpectedly. Either way, if you are a holder, you need to plan diligently. As long as you are in the positive side, you are winning. But really great to discover crypto, not regretting learning the ins and outs throughout the years. And everyday, we are still continuously learning in order to improve our knowledge in crypto and blockchain technology.

I believe that the behavior of Bitcoin will now be more mature than in 2017. The circumstances are different, there is hope that Bitcoin will make a contribution to recover the economy. Like most I am also on the lookout for what may happen in the next few days.

It was really awesome to see Bitcoin climb from 0 dollar to this high.  For this year, I think that the aim of 50k dollars doesn't seem very realistic. There is just one month left in this year and I think the maximum level Bitcoin can reach is 30k dollars for this year.

We seen bitcoin of how they started since low of price on that year and until step by step to develop and become a popular in cryptocurrency. Until in the year of 2017 has most incredible improvement of bitcoin that we seen in a first time that grow rapidly so thats why many different coins also shown up because of that happen. And now bitcoin are still in the number one spot and non can replace on it but maybe in a future that would be have another coins can surpass bitcoin.

not this year, but next year to see bitcoin highs, but for ATH it looks like before 2021 at the end of this year it might reach above $ 20k, you can go to this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5043315) to see what will happen next, but I'm not a clairvoyant , it's just that history has the same pattern as before, look

I agree with piebeyb. I do not think that $50,000 is tangible for this year.

What is more of a realistic target instead is $20,000 by the end of this year or maybe just above it. However, if BTC manages to push through the 20K mark this year, then I think there's a good chance that the following year we could be speculating +50K.

The market is now fairly balanced. But observe the market from past history. It is seen that the market is strong in November and December. Bitcoin began to fall in January for no reason. So be prepared to accept that the market will be down next months.

From a valueless token it has reached such a high level in around eleven years of time is really a big thing in the fast moving world. People keeps running for money, and the same has made people prioritise bitcoin knowing its potential. At the beginning more giveaways were organised. Now the scenario is different, people starve to make little bitcoin. Thats a good preperation of thread which makes people know the price at each year.

seeing those old prices of btc gives me mixed feelings but im not involved on btc that early but i joined btc late  . joining late is i guess better than joining early and ignoring btc because that can give me heavy regrets but lets move on past is past .

the btc value scheme per year arent always acending if you provide the full price history and i dont agree that we can get 50k by this year and 50k is also a big gap from the 20k that happened last 3 years ago but we might get a better value than 20k in this current year .

Patterns are not working in this industry. What happened before will not determine what will happen this year. The market price have developed eversince it was introduced to the masses and we could see its progress in all aspects. But the thing here is inconsistencies with regards to its market price. It could either reach a new ATH this year or just have another market price correction. We just never know.

For sure many people who were in doubt before to the potential of Bitcoin are seeing the reality. And  it's price development speaks for this technology in general.

Will Bitcoin reach this target this year?
With the current situation of bitcoins price I think it would be impossible for bitcoin to reach what you are expecting this year. We still have approximately 3 weeks before 2020 ends and I think that 3 weeks will be sufficient for bitcoins price to beat up the last 2017 ATH. I think that $50k is still possible if the bullish trend will continue to year 2021.

I guess bitcoin will peak in mid-2021 because at the moment maybe some investors are vacationing for Christmas and commemorating the end of the year. And they will be back active by the middle of the year to make new history in the price of bitcoin.

$50K this year isn't so realistic at all even if we had a good run in the past couple weeks,
I still thinks it is still far fetch to say that we could see it this year.
I also think that it couldn't reach it even next year.

I like the optimism but NO it will not get reached this year.

We already seeing that the $20,000 is a very strong resistance as of now and it tried to push through it twice but it didn't pass through. Even though the $50,000 price of Bitcoin is quite conservative, I don't think that it will be reached even though in 2021. Ask it again if 1 Bitcoin = $40,000 already :).

I think Bitcoin is likely to hit $20,000 by the end of December. The price of $50,000 is not possible this year. Because Bitcoin takes more time to break at the $20,000 price it takes to jump.

It could hit $20,000 by the end of the year but I think it will be hard for it to reach $50,00 until the first quarter of 2021. However, I'm not disregarding the possibility that it could reach higher because if we'll look at its history, we could see that it could reach more than our expectations. From $0 to the current price, I do not doubt that Bitcoin would still be able to surprise us in the future.

Bitcoin really comes a long way from no value to $19,000 as of now previous investors were pretty lucky they gain so much profit too bad for other early adopters
who sell their coins for a few bucks before. I'm one of them by the way  ;D

Instead, I have a different belief, maybe bitcoin will fall back to a rate that is considered stable enough before stepping to jump. but bitcoin is currently unpredictable and there are many possibilities, but we can be sure that a sharp increase is not happening this year.
Bitcoin will reach its newest ATH next year and it is not known what month and how many.

It is a good to look back on where it all started good old days with BTC earning on every way as a newbie,
If we look at the price now and compare it tothe pastI think most of us would be amazed on how much it grow.
But even in those huge increase that it received over the past years I don't think that we are already heading to reach $50K.

This is what makes Bitcoin so special, we know that Bitcoin is just a digital number that had no value when it was first launched,
but now Bitcoin is the talk of the world, if Bitcoin is able to reach $ 300k, of course this will be the biggest hype in the world.

history price patterns and experts statements.....everything points that we are heading to 50-100K till 2021 end. the only thing that worries me a bit is the fact that when something is expected to happen at a specific timeframe by everyone usually fails to happen. this is likely cause some delay in the next ATH. personally I decided to wait mostly 1-1.5 year before i sell my BTCs because it was over 6 years of HODL and almost no cashout at all so far.

I liked that you wrote the milestones that Bitcoin has taken on it's path to $20,000 USD. As optimistic as most of us are on Bitcoin, there is no chance that Bitcoin will reach $50,000 USD by the end of this year. There is less than a month until 2021 begins, and $25,000 would be a better target. That being said, it is very possible that Bitcoin can reach $50,000 and possibly even $100,000 in the upcoming year, with more and more companies incorporating Bitcoin into their business.

It was a milestone but no one surely knows where are heading in the next 5 years, 10 years, or in the future. I'll keep believing that Bitcoin will still be growing in no such a time frame.
That everything it happens in the future will remain unpredictable and worth surprising. From scratch to a precious coin in crypto space, I'll be thinking more than this. whether the price will go higher ($50k), doesn't matter to me, what most important thing is that Bitcoin stays in the market and helping us in some other way.

As we've already found out, $50,000 is definitely not going to happen this year. But maybe next year something will change.

I'm reluctant to agree that 50,000 isn't in sight for 2021. There can't be this level of certainty, though it is true that given how everything dumped right now with BTC at low 18,000 this may sound unlikely but you can't say impossible.

I say this as many things can happen... Maybe this is the end to the bull run we've enjoyed so much or maybe this is preparation for the better wave to come - who knows  :-[

Thank you for reminding me about Bitcoin's performance, if we look at the data in the opening post it is very clear that the price
increase of Bitcoin is very fast. Especially what happened in 2017 must have surprised many people, imagine in May 2017 the price of
Bitcoin only $ 2000, but December 2017 was $ 20,000. This is so amazing, no other asset can do what Bitcoin has done. Regarding
the $ 50,000 target, I am optimistic that it should be achieved 3 years from now. This year Bitcoin will likely only hit a price of $ 22,000.

Yes, bitcoin has become a highly sought after commodity and has become a very profitable investment. I'm just making it clear my pal that 2017 was where the bitcoin ATH happened was amazing and nobody predicted it. but if you look at the Halving prediction it is no longer strange and it is indeed proven.

This year the third halving has occurred, usually when the halving is finished a year later bitcoin will climb high. and the first and second% halving is very significant, if that is a benchmark then it can be ascertained that in 2021 bitcoin will increase sharply and there will be renewable ATH. not according to your prediction that will happen in 3 years but it is in 2021.
but all predictions and analysis may change and we cannot avoid that fact because crypto is very unique.
