Title: What is the next big thing in Bitcoin/Crypto?
Post by: CoinOp on November 23, 2020, 08:36:04 PM
Somethings I remember generating a lot of excitement at first.
Mining, when it could still be done with graphics cards and early mining machines.
Gambling, the early sites SatoshiDice and later Just-Dice had huge followings.  Looks like there is still a lot of crypto gambling just split up over many more sites now.
The early Altcoins such as Dogecoin and Huntercoin.
Tokens and Dapps made possible with Ethereum.
Earlier Tokens with the airdrops were very profitable.
Dapps looked very promising at first, not sure they've lived up to it yet.

What do you think is next?

Next big thing would be acceptence of Bitcoin and other crypto coins on a real-time basis which is bit difficult due to volatility, developers should focus on how to make cryptos usable like any other online payment method or the purpose it's developed instead of just leaving it as a investment medium because the core objective of crypto coin is to make our lives easier and upgrade ourself with next level of technologies which is need of the hour.

I feel Bitcoin and other altcoins needs to focus on adaptability by having tie up with tech startups and gradually move on to wider range of audiences.

Something you've missed in your list which has been there since ever. It's HODL.
Holding bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies you think it's really valuable for a medium to long  periods would generate the profit you dream about .
Those who bought to hodl btc before December 2017 are actually financially satisfied.
Gambling, mining, and alts are all for fast profit and are all somehow a sort of gambling as you predicted that the method is profitable, when for btc if you think it's the currency of the future than you would never lose; at least for the next decade .

Have we missed any? I think there's nothing. Everything is there as you have mentioned. But asking what is the next big thing, I have been thinking about another group of crypto projects that we never know. From, ICO, IEO, Defi, and next.

I don't think there is a need to have this because we already have plenty of crypto projects, in fact, a lot of them been abandoned or even dead. What we need now is to have the full adoption of the system, to widen the consideration of Bitcoin, and let people enjoyed this without thinking the authorities will apprehend them or put them in jail.

There will always be next after DeFi, but we don't know yet. But I really hope that in the very near future, the adoption of lightning network be massive. To address the problem of high tx fees in the regular btc network, LN is really one of the solutions. But not most people are familiar with using this network. So if in case, LN will have good adoption, I guess a lot of people will be happy using btc as their payment method.

Next? I'm waiting when a country of America and other countries that banned bitcoin will adopt bitcoin and allow people to use it and be acceptable in all medium exchanges worldwide. It's kind of a big event right there, even if the president of the US will announce legalizing crypto usage.

Beyond that, I guess there's nothing to be a big next event, we had all it now and I think people have learned already about crypto. For over 10 years plus of existence, the awareness was now continuously scattered.

The next big event that I expected is the worldwide adoption of crypto, especially bitcoin.

Being universally accepted as payment method by online and offline stores, this was the true design by Satoshi himself so it somewhat we see online stores "bitcoin accepted here' logo then perhaps this will be the ultimate fulfillment to all of us. I don't know if you heard about the Defi, but this is the big thing, however, it was just pure hype as altcoin has evolved from IEO-ICO-DEFI-???

Mass adoption, I think, is the next big thing. We have seen its market value develop as years are passing by as well as its spread of popularity. And now, it is more exposed to the masses and IMO, this technology will soon be more accepted in the world market as a mode of payment but not primarily the only medium. It would more likely co-exist with other digital currencies. But I doubt it will already be used in daily transactions because its market price's volatility is still profitable to invest. So maybe, once its market price stabilises, that will only be the time its advantages will be taken advantage at its fullest, in transactions.

Defi is the current trend and thinking what's next? we'll never know. Is there any new type of crowdfunding that's becoming popular other than the past styles of ICO, IEO and Defi? I don't think that we get to see one of them. I thought that IEO was going to be one of the longest wave but it didn't looked like it did. Being backed by a known exchange looks a win-win for the projects but still, it didn't lasts. Next could be the governmental interference for such crowdfunding.

So maybe, accepted in a way it will just be recognize? and not be fully used based on its purpose which is being a digital currency. Its volatility I think is still an issue to why many people are afraid to put their savings into it because they will be exposed to risk of losing money from doing so, especially at times wherein the market price is falling. Since those people are not aware of its true nature, we really cannot blame them from doing so. Thus, further development is more likely to happen in the future regarding this issue.

I agree with your point, but for me personally Bitcoin isn't "making our lives easier and upgrade ourself with next level of technologies", it's rather a safenet against banks, gov control and crises which we are on the verge of

Plus on the mass adoption really since right now if we want to see Bitcoin grow we must look at it in the long term way and see if Bitcoin is really being accepted in terms of its demand. Right now we are seeing news about companies buying Bitcoin from their cash reserves and also companies like Paypal integrating Bitcoin into their system, this are just some signs that Bitcoin is indeed being accepted in the commercial stand-point. Now we have to wait if this will also be embrace by the consumers who are looking for alternative modes of payment.

The last two big things were DeFi and ICO. Both were hyped because of their supposed decentralization, while on practice no one really cared about decentralization, it was always about making money on a speculative market and selling shitcoins to suckers. The next big thing will likely be some new form of tokens that will be hyped as a replacement for some part of traditional finance, maybe decentralized insurance tokens or something like that. Of course it will never be used on practice, just like ICO didn't replace stocks or DeFi didn't replace traditional finance.

I guess reaching the ATH of bitcoin could be the next big thing in crypto this time.

Reaching the ATH of bitcoin is difficult and we could really notice a lot of resistance in the market price around 10k$ -18k$ but still, the market price is close to reaching the 19k$ price.

It is possible to have a lot of adaptation in the cryptocurrency just like what Paypal did in the past month trying to adopt to cryptocurrency.

Or something like a new technology could also be created that is more superior to bitcoin.

The next big thing in bitcoin or crypto is bad news that can be anything from law regulations, restrictions, bans to exchange hacks. I see many of bad news were released when the market heated up to much.

The market now is over heated for both bitcoin, altcoins, DeFi and Tether USDT (it was minted millions weeks ago).

The posititve changes for developments, acceptances, adoptions, increase capital flow from institutional investment are all known and it takes more time to grow more. It won't happen in few weeks till the end of 2020.

It will be difficult because there will be cables needed like in the Stock Exchanges so the prices are relayed as fast as possible. This will not be just developers in action because infrastructures are involved if we want to achieve a real time basis for ever fluctuating prices of bitcoin. I think that adaptability is already happening with more tech giants integrating blockchain technology on their system like Paypal, it will only be a matter time and all systems requires to be blockchain integrated.

Adoption of different institutions, merchants and establishments.
This is I think the next one to happen with crypto as a whole.

It is slowly gaining traction already and various institutions are already starting to buy Bitcoin and other coins. We are seeing crypto market going bullish right now and I believe that more and more will accept this in the future.

Aside from adoption, regulations coming from the government might happen too not this year possibly but next year maybe.

though there maybe new one that will pop up in future but all of us are longing for the complete adoption. Not only for Bitcoin but the Whole crypto community.

i'm always Longing that one day when i wake up in the morning, and going to work is i can use my Crypto paying taxi ,train or Bus.

Buying coffee, juice or sandwiches in vendo machines.

And when going out with my family,i don't have to bring a single cents in my pocket but all crypto is functional in their various fields .

OP didn't have missed any in fact he/she has stated everything but the mere fact he wanted to know what will be the next big event for Bitcoins or the entire cryptocurrencies remains unknown, speculations could be global adoption and become the future currency.  I tend to agree with this but to know when we still cannot provide the exact date nor a period of time.

With the recent report that bitcoin already surpassed Mastercard in terms of total value circulating in the global market, we can say now that in the soonest time global adoption can be reached and bitcoin can exercise its full potential as a currency.

The next big thing about Bitcoin and Crypto is that its high price increases and long-term investments are very beneficial for the whole crypto community. This is a very lucrative time for those who have been investing for a long time not only sound education but his alertness and dedication too are most required. PayPal has doubled its demand for cryptocurrencies so the crypto market is going to be much better. Crypto will improve further in the future and the price of Bitcoin will rise.

I think the next big thing in crypto is its mass adoption. People should also learn how to utilize bitcoin as a medium for payment to buy basic necessities like fiat and not just as a sole investment forever. But with bitcoin's high volatility at the moment, i think it's totally hard for this to finally happen but hopefully, things will be realize soon. It's good to see bitcoin and even altcoins already part of this payment methods even an alternative ones.

Well mass adoption itself can be in different forms whether it is about investments or Bitcoin being a mode of payment, as long as Bitcoin will be accepted more by the common people that is when we can say that it is being mass adopted. Right now we only see Bitcoin as a investment opportunity that is why I have said these companies are taking advantage of it in the business end. If companies starts to accept Bitcoin as a mode of payment then we might see people use it in the future.

Well that's the next big thing also that were waiting to happen the increase of price. But, the current price is really a good move in the market. Another thing the adoption of Paypal is a good news in crypto industry because some people notice bitcoin because of this platform which they have a doubt before on crypto. So as what others been said the acceptance of bitcoin that hopefully in the future we can easily use it to buy good and services since in our country it is not yet fully adopted..

You must have known Bitcoin very early because what you mentioned is very interesting. Bitcoin and Altcoins will adapt and develop in a different stage each. I'm feeling 2020 is a return season for Bitcoin and a season for Altcoins so whether you earn Bitcoin or Altcoins by different methods they are very useful.

about thinking in Bitcoin or crypto the next is likely to be in fundrasing again,
because from 2017-2020 there are many variations of fundraising,
from ICO, STO, IDO, even IEO in 2020 to be popular, 2021 may have new things again.

I guess the next big thing will be the those large financial institution like paypal supporting bitcoin. I know many people hates the fact that PayPal supports bitcoin in a weird way where you don't actually own the bitcoin, have no access to your wallet address and cannot transfer your bitcoins to any external wallets. But they did say "for now" it is going to be like this. So we can expect things to change in the future. They are probably looking for a better way to allow users to hold bitcoins and transfer them to external wallets.
So, yeah the next big thing maybe banks accepting and supporting bitcoin? I know it sounds shitty since it is going to be all centralized and strictly regulated, but if bitcoin goes mainstream, the regulation is inevitable.

I think, that next big thing in cryptocurrency world is the day Bitcoins reaches and passes its all-time-high price. After this day, the faith in crypto will return. Those who shouted that Bitcoin is just a balloon and will explode soon will/should change their opinion. It will also proof that Bitcoin is the better instrument for savings, compared with gold, as its price goes down since November start.

That's right mate, right now all of us bitcoin holders are waiting for bitcoin to pass the all-time highest price it's ever been through.
We still don't know bitcoin will reach what price at the end of this year. It's still a question, and it's a big thing to look forward to.
Bitcoin has indeed given us great things that we are already going through right now. The adoption of bitcoin by many large companies
is also a big thing that makes the price of bitcoin closer to ATH.

I think the next big things in bitcoin are probably lightning network and smart contracts.  Obviously the lightning network is already in progress but we are still apparently a ways away.  Once this comes to fruition, as well as the second layer, I think this will be massive for btc.  Also additional smart contract stuff.

I do not know what it is, Since long ago ICO, Hardfork, until now there is DeFi CeFi, Yield Farm, this is not a coincidence it seems like there is always going to be a new idea in bitcoin that is still a mystery, and currently we how much in the kosen DeFi . I don't think it's yet to be a symbol of joining bitcoin.

The main problem is proper adoption and i think it could be the next big thing, whenever it happens. The current crypto market is not mature enough nor there is a system in place to support the wide adoption.
