Title: Clay Cast - How to redeem bars & planned inlay card Post by: ClayCastCrypto on November 29, 2020, 03:44:21 PM Hi all,
I have some Information about redeeming a Clay Cast bar (or a prototype, gift, AP or such). Hope this is correct, as I am still looking into this. Sorry for my English, as I am Dutch. Additional (technical) info or feedback from other forum members is very welcome. Short version: - Sweep private keys from our bars with Coinomi wallet. - Import private keys with Bitcoin or Litecoin Core (importprivkey). - Wallets that do not support Core private key import, sweep or 'Move Funds': Ballet, Mycelium, Exodus and Electrum. Others I have yet to test (or contact support). We will reach out / contact current owners of our bars, to align, provide info and ship an envelop with an inlay card for the 5 OZ air-tite casing. The inlay card should have info about how to redeem (import in Core or sweep via Coinomi). Still thinking about this. As an extra, we will provide a scratch card for a raffle, or lottery of sorts. This will take some time to create, send to a printing service and to organize, so details to be determined. Patience is required. Also, we need to finish some big bars first, so this post will function as a referral until then. Will ask for help with the raffle / lottery. Thank you for being a customer and sorry for this. Long version: - Bitcoin Core and Litecoin Core have been used for addresses and keys on our bars; dumpprivkey from the console. - I was contacted by a customer who could not import the private keys of his bars; in Mycelium and Ballet. - The customer sent pictures of the redeemed bars and info; all looked good. - After some back and forth with the customer, I imported the keys (with Core) and transferred the funds to him. - The funds were there and could be imported. However, not the customer experience we were hoping for. - Thanks to the customer for contacting me and giving us some time to look into this. Before we started, we researched offline tools for bulk generation of addresses, but chose for manual labor. Hand-made is what we do and in limited numbers, so generation by hand seemed best and fitting. Bitcoin Core and Litecoin Core was our choice, but the result is that the private keys of our bars cannot be imported, moved or sweeped in: - Ballet, Mycelium, Exodus and Electrum (tested so far). The private keys of our bars can be imported or sweeped in: - Bitcoin (or Litecoin) Core and Coinomi. Contact with Exodus, Coinomi and Ballet support: - Exodus has confirmed they do not support, and are not planning to support Core private keys. - Coinomi has confirmed they support the sweep feature for Core private keys and will keep supporting it. They could not tell me why other wallets do not support this (but that they probably could). - Am waiting for a response from Ballet. - I am somewhat baffled that Core is 'not supported', but it is what it is. Inlay cards for the bars: - We stand by our product, but we think this information needs to be accompanied with the bar (customer, owner or future owners). - The private keys in our bars are 'bonded' on titanium. That's a neat trick, supposed to last very long (yes, there are more durable products out there, but still). - I will contact every customer to signal this information, or try to reach out to current owners, to see if this information can be 'amended' to the bars. - Our current thought is to create small inlay cards for the 5 OZ casing of our bars, which will hold a QR (maybe just a string - 'Sweep in Coinomi or import in Core'; text or URL to be determined). - We will cover the cost of shipping the envelop with the inlay card (and print of inlay card, lamination, etc.). - Card material will probably be brushed silver vinyl (sticker) and black ink to keep it simple and raw; like the bars. Result may differ from concept. - Not sure what to do with smaller objects or casings yet (prototypes, promo gifts, etc.). Probably use this post as a referral. Concept for an inlay card (same size as the bar, fits beneath the bar, brushed silver metallic vinyl): https://i.imgur.com/tpuwhkim.png Current projects: - We have been busy with bigger bars and other collaboration projects. Some almost finished. - Most of these projects will be funded with a bit of BTC. - Most of the BTC funded objects will have private keys lasered on titanium, like our bars. - Some smaller gifts or tests will have private keys printed on paper. - The addresses and private keys have all been generated and exported in the same way as our bars; offline with Bitcoin Core. - We will amend this information for these objects on COA, Casing or such (and align with people involved for some choices / options to do this). https://i.imgur.com/5kkptZ0.jpg * The 21 silver objects in this picture are all reserved. Am waiting for black rhodium, white rhodium, rosé gold plated prototypes (brass - sent to Germany for plating). * Will place the plated prototypes on the forum as choice options when these are shipped back... (to collect feedback on which plating is most shiny, and should be used in a series of 21 of these objects). Future projects: - We move like a tortoise, but we will deliver. - We have some cool stuff planned for 2021 and 2022. - We want to stick with Core, for a few more projects, but feedback is much appreciated. - At some point, we will move to DIY bars, with regard to funding. To conclude and reach out to owners of our bars: We think this niche works on trust and a happy customer. An informed customer. Sorry for this. So with each envelop (shipped inlay card), we will provide a scratch card of some sorts, which can be used for a raffle in the near future. Think of a simple laminated card with our tamper evident hologram on top. Details to be determined, it is going to take some time to print the cards, find owners, but maybe this is an incentive to connect to current owners of our bars (and do something fun). Don't know if this is practical or executable in a orderly fashion, but will try. If you own one (or more) of our bars (5 OZ Air-tite casing, series one, two or three), redeemed or not, you get a scratch card (per bar). We still have bars left of series two (BTC bar) and three (1 LTC bar), but only the ones who are out there at this time of posting will get a scratch card, to make it fair. I will ask someone to help organize a good raffle for these scratch cards (and to think this through), but will follow up beginning of 2021. There are 21 of our bars in the wild, so this seems doable. First prize: Should be better than the second prize. Will follow up. Second Prize: Bronze BTC bar (used as mold for all BTC silver bars, series 3). Funded with 0.0033 BTC. https://i.imgur.com/dANKqkVm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bpZ01Mzm.jpg Shipping will be on us for the winner(s) of this - still to be planned - raffle / lottery. Hope this post helps, is clear and our idea of an inlay card (and raffle / lottery for bar owners) is well received. Feedback is much appreciated. Regards, Clay P.s. I hope I did not miss anything, been a long couple of days. A few days ago I noticed that you are very active with updates on twitter, was following you there but have not managed to get you there.. I still wanted to ask if it is possible to order larger custom bars like the one shown there (bronze bar). But it sounds like you are currently working at full capacity, right? Dearest greetings from the neighboring country ;) Title: Re: Clay Cast - How to redeem bars & planned inlay card Post by: ClayCastCrypto on December 03, 2020, 06:41:22 PM Update from Ballet Support:
