Title: Trying to build a new mining rig with 2800$
Post by: Eco_111 on December 02, 2020, 06:36:43 AM
I'm having 2800$ lying around, I've already invested in popular altcoins and bitcoin already so I thinking of building mining rigs with this money, mind you I have free electricity but very epileptic, but since it's free I'd like to take advantage of it, what kind of rigs is perfect with 2800$? Thanks

As for me - with free electricity the best choice is to buy used GPUs - AMD 470-580 with 8GB of memory. Its rather cheap but not energy efficient, but with free electricity ROI is about 4-6 months. The second way is to buy old models ASICs, but i cant correctly speak about it.

I won't recommend buying as old asic miner because they can be faulty already and it's not easy to repair them, you don't want to but used asic miners, I have a friend that bought two and they are malfunctioning, he had to send them back to the seller in china

Don't bother buying asic miners, it's safer to buy graphics cards like RX480 or RX580 since you have free electricity, there are sellers on ebay that sells bundled of RX5** and RX4** if you want I can drop a link or two on here and you'd be buying at 1,500$ per bundle and a bundle pack consists of 10 GPUS, you will spend the remaining money on motherboard and powerpack, I recommend doing good research on that too

I don't know what rigs you should buy because I am not a miner. But maybe you can visit on here:

That is what you can buy with all of that machine. I don't know about the VGA because I think that it will be too expensive to buy.

The best graphics card for mining right now is gtx1660 types, either the ti versions or super versions, this graphic cards are very efficiency and less electricity consumers too, OP said he got free electricity and yes going with rx470 will bring you good returns but for future sake gtx1660 cards will survive longer, you don't have to be worried of any obsolescence, also gtx1660 ti or super are good for other algorithms like Kawpow (Ravencoin) and cryptonighthaven too (Havenprotocol)

I would have advice to invest your money in bitcoin and altcoins but since you are already an investors then there is nothing stopping you from building a mining rig for yourself, it makes sense that you have free electricity so the best advice I can give Is to buy cheap GPUs, probably used from Newegg, eBay  or Aliexpress, presently you can mine ETC with 4gig RX470s, there is no need to worry about EThash DAG as ETC algo have been modified to support even low end GPUs with 3gig memory

1660 super or 5600xt will be the best choice if you can get it at a bargain price. I advise you to assemble the first farm from new computer components.
These video cards do not overheat and consume very little power.
Used video cards are now expensive and have a very high chance of failure.

OP will safe more money if he invest on used graphics card like and RX 570 or 580, he has free electricity and that's all that matters, rx580 can do 30MH per Sec and it's roughly same with a gtx1660 super and you can buy two RX580 with the money for a single gtx1660 super, the difference is gtx1660 super is less consuming electricity than RX580 but with free electricity the AMD wins

You can buy 10 pieces of RX580 for 200$ on amazon and use the 800$ to buy motherboard, risers, ram and other parts for mining, using whattomine website for my calculations I'm sure you will earn 8$ per day and that's like 230-240$ per month, you will make back your ROI in a year time

Used RX580 will cost less that 200$ on ebay or newegg, I suggest buying used cards to safe more $$$ ,used RX580 starts from 140$ to 180$ depending on memory size or and fan size too, less fan equals less cost, 4GB is less costly than 8GB cards

You get that right, lesser power hungry graphic cards are better fits for mining and there is also a point that's missing here, I find out that Nvidia graphic cards supports more algorithms than AMD graphic cards, it shows that if some algorithms go out of business or stop been profitable you can easily find other algorithms to mine

You would have made more than that 2800$ right now if you invested on few top altcoins, we are in bull season mate why the hell would you want to build a mining rig right now when you can double that money in few weeks or months?
