Title: Im a newb: I think I have lost bitcoin - Can someone help me?
Post by: lEgIt_bOnKeRz on December 03, 2020, 11:16:15 PM
I made a btc transfer from Crypto.com app on my ipad to a new account i had just opened on another app - based of seasoned coiner traders recommendations called Binance. I seen that crpto.com showed it transferred, but never showed up in my new account. Contacted crypto.com and they said it was transferred and nothing they can do since transaction was completed. I contacted Binance support they said they show nothing incoming and that there is nothing for them to do. Surely i just didnt lose all my btc and Im screwed?

Here is the transaction hash from Crypto.com app:
86907173a6e351451674818ff21b2917456654d1242e6ba04602c6f7332514d1

Im sorry for being dumb in this but I hope this is the write place as you all may know these two companies dont seem to wanna spend much time/energy helping such a issue.

Are you sure that you sent BTC to the right BTC address from Binance?

Check the output addresses in your TXID through blockchain.com explorer and find the address from Binance and check if your address from Binance is one of the output from explorer.

You can also bring this issue directly from their official crypto.com thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5079246.180

It will be good if you can provide:

1. The transaction id of the transaction made on crypto.com
2. Also the address you sent it to on binance, do this by copying the address from binance directly and paste it here.

Likely you have sent your bitcoin to a wrong address, you can check directly yourself by tracing the transaction on blockchain explorer using the txid. Or, if you can not do that, you can provide the txid and the binance btc address you sent it to for us to trace it for you.

Binance.com doesn't use bech32 (bc1) addresses, they still use the legacy address which starts with 1. You might've copied the address wrongly.

As for the transaction being 4BTC, Crypto.com is a custodial wallet so in a transaction, it's used to send funds to several users at once. Crypto.com is not at fault here, they've sent the funds to the correct address that you've indicated. Your funds are still in the address[1] and I assume that it's not your first time using it as there was a transaction prior to yours?

This is what crypto app says i sent in the history for “Withdrawel To” bc1qvxxj7cte6470kpc0a4xcqtg80wddq06w3ar04z

When you click on that transaction (in crypto app) , it says this is the transaction hash:
86907173a6e351451674818ff21b2917456654d1242e6ba04602c6f7332514d1
Looks like you've copied the same address as your previous transaction about 1 hour before that transaction.
Luckily, it's easy to tell since crypto app has been reusing their address for batch withdrawals.

You must remember where you sent the 1st transaction then you'll have a clue on where the "lost transaction" was sent because they have the same address.

I found it guys......I am sooo sorry to have waisted yalls time. I guess when I copied pasted the wallet address I also had been working on another account and I guess I didnt make sure I had actually copied the numbers and ended up transferring to this other account. (One of those buy and store accounts).....jeeesh.

With what I have seen on the explorer, you sent to a wrong address, all the addresses that bitcoin was sent to are all native segwit (bc1 prefix addresses) and also nested segwit (3 prefix addresses), but binance addresses are all legacy (1 prefix addresses).

Opening it in explorer it shows 5.7btc from this address : bc1q7cyrfmck2ffu2ud3rn5l5a8yv6f0chkp0zpemf -but i didnt send that much. I only sent 0.04btc.
Custodial exchanges does not work like noncustodial wallets, the exchange will send multiple transactions at ones, not only yours, but you will still be able to track your transaction if you check the addresses using the txid (which they called transaction hash), your address should be there among.

Oh! That is nice. Make sure you check the address you are sending to next time, check and recheck it before sending at all. This kind of mistake had cost many people to have sent to a wrong account entirely before.
