Title: Restore funds to BRD with 12 word phrase
Post by: joe1234 on December 10, 2020, 12:52:26 PM
Hello Forum

i was wondering how the process of restoring funds with the 12 word phrase does work
on a newly installed BRD-wallet (on the same Android device)….

I made the following steps:

- "Wipe wallet from this device" (this is a built-in BRD-feature)

- because this command did not remove the wallet-software from my device, i entered the
following command (on a USB connected Linux-PC):
  # sudo adb uninstall "package name"

- reinstall a new version of BRD to the same mobile phone

According to some HowTos I should now be asket to enter the recovery key/phrase, but
the BRD-wallet does immediately want to give me his new 12word seed......

Questions:

1.
Does that mean the the old 12word phrases are not anymore valid for this new wallet
and can only be used for restoring the funds?

2.
Where can the feature "Enter Recovery Key" be found? Or is it renamed?

Thank's a lot for any help!

Joe

Every wallet has their seed and using the same seed if you open the wallet with any software, you will get the same wallet.

Old 12 word phase are the word phrase for your old wallet, there are nothing invalid. Old 12 seed always restore the wallet associated with it.

PS:This was my in general response since I have no idea about BRD wallet. If you have the 12 word seed then you can restore the same wallet with Electrum or any other wallet software.

For Android devices

It is clearly stated immediately you launch the wallet after download at the lower part at the center you will see 'restore wallet' just like other noncustodial wallets.

Your seed phrase is always valid, so far you have it, you can use it to always restore back your wallet and your balance will reappear and accessible for you to make use of.
