I am a little confused: I sent a transaction today and added 0.0003 BTC as suggested by the BTC Core client. After 2.5 hours, I still see only 2 out of 6 confirmations... I this normal these days? After 2.5 hours, I still see only 2 out of 6 confirmations... I this normal these days? It's normal. Solving a block usually takes every 10 minutes however it can take MUCH longer or much shorter. It's basically all about luck. You just happened to send a transaction when it's taking longer than average to solve a block. edit: typo Title: Re: How long does a transaction take today? Confirmations have nothing to do with the speed of your internet. It has to do with then network as a whole. If you get a confirmation in 12 seconds you just happened to send a transaction right before a block was solved - simple as that. Title: Re: How long does a transaction take today? Transaction propagation is near instant, while the first transaction confirmation takes about ten minutes on average.
