Title: [Auction] Hodlsmith Watches - physical Bitcoins on your wrist
Post by: hodlsmith on December 18, 2020, 10:14:22 PM
Hello BitcoinTalk forum!

This is the first post from Hodlsmith.

We have created a Swiss-engineered watch that can safely hold & store physical Bitcoins (such as Casascius and Lealana coins).

Only 21 of the Hodlsmith watches will be created.

This auction will be for two of the Hodlsmith watches from the collection. Pictures of the two watches (Black Case, and Steel Case) are in the link below:

https://imgur.com/a/aghmT2p?third_party=1 (if someone could please add the pictures to the forum post, that would be appreciated :) )

These watches are available, for custom order, at www.Hodlsmith.com for 1.0 BTC (unloaded, no coin included), but with the recent bitcoin price moves, we wanted to offer BitcoinTalk our newest watch design with a HODL'er discount :)

Each watch in this auction will have a minimum starting bid of 0.5 BTC, and minimum bidding increments of 0.005 BTC. No physical coins are included in this auction, but can be made available for purchase by the winners after the auction.

The auction will end Dec 23 at 23:00 UTC. Escrow accepted.

Any bid made in last 15 minutes will extend the auction 15 minutes beyond the ending time for All Lots.
If within those 15 extended minutes, a new bid is made, 15 minutes will be added to the auction from the time of that bid PER LOT.

Lot 1 - Black Case
Lot 2 - Steel Case

Happy to answer any additional questions about the Hodlsmith Watch :) ;)

They look very nice !  :)
0.7 BTC seems a bit expensive to me thought, and that's even more of an investment if we want to fund it imo.

Edit : Actually found all the infos I needed

For those who may have been curious about your questions as well, the watch is 44mm in diameter, 15mm thick, and yes, any local watch shop should be able remove or load the coin.

The first watches were sold in August as far as I know for 1BTC. That's a price of ~$11,500.
At current bitcoin price, 0.7BTC is approximately ~$16,450. I am unsure we can call that a "discount".
Good auction to all nevertheless !  :)

Our goal was to keep the Hodlsmith watch priced in BTC, to emphasize the scarcity of the collection.

Additionally, this new design had increased costs for the dial sophistication.

^ can gif's be shared on the forum? ;)

However, we will lower the minimum bid to 0.5 BTC and will amend the auction rules momentarily.

Dear god, I hope that gif is sped up a bit!  ::)

Edit - So the watch is actually underneath the coin?  ???

The revolver/bullet dial spins independently, not at any constant speed like that gif. Moves based on your own motion.

And rather, the coin is underneath the watch, not vice versa. The front has the dial/hands/etc, and the coin sits underneath that layer within its own case.
