Title: Primeira Liga (Portuguese League) Discussion
Post by: ingiltere on December 21, 2020, 10:53:29 PM
I'm surprised there is no thread for Portuguese league here. I searched in Gambling discussion and there is no new post since 2018 in previous Primeira Liga thread so I decided to open a new one.

This thread is about Portuguese football league Primeira Liga. Let's discuss here.

I added a poll, which team will be the champion this season?

I wanted to vote for Benfica but choose the last option as i thought abut Vitoria Guimaraes which is not in the poll list.
Vitoria actually is in the fourth place with 19 pts before braga (18pts). The next match with Porto (22 pts) would determine the real potential of Vitoria to reach a higher place. I don't think it will win the Liga because i can't deny the power of Sporting which keeps its first place with 26 points .

The Portuguese league is one with fantastic players, and also a closely competed league, I will help with the display of the league standings to further make it detailed to readers, Sporting lisbon remain top of the league after 10 games.

I am surprised too as this is considered just a bit lower in quality than the 5 big ones in Europe,in fact for me is directly the strongest league after the big 5.Another thing that pleased me is seeing Sporting at the top of the table once again and I hope they keep it until the end of the league.

Sporting, Benfica, and Porto are the three major teams in the Primeira Liga. I think most Primeira Liga spectators only watch these three teams play. Because their games are very exciting and enjoyable. I personally only watch these three teams play. All three teams have a chance to win the title so far this season. So the season is getting more exciting day by day.

Currently there are at least 10 games played and two teams that have only played 9 games, but with the points accumulated at this point I think it is too early to say if the top-ranking team will get the title. Moreover, the winners of the league title have only been dominated by two teams at least from the 2002/2003 season until now, it's only about Benfica and Porto. So, even though there is currently Sporting at the top of the standings it will still not guarantee to stay on top until the end of the season, because underneath there are Benfica and Porto who are ready to take over and because of that, I feel the winner of the title this season will still be won by Benfica or Porto, I vote for Benfica.

Being Brazilian, I watch Portuguese football a lot and try to follow this championship.
I maybe wrong.... but I don't think Porto will lift the cup this season.
I'm betting on the victory of Benfica, which invested heavily in players and seems to be having a better performance.

I don't know... as a foreigner I can be quite mistaken, but I already made my bet and I should hardly change.

Persoanlly, I would like to see Porto winning league. From what I saw both in Primeira and Champions league, Porto looks most solid. Sporting this year failed to qualify to Europa league, but now they have less intensive calendar and can focus on the league only. During these pandemic years probably it can be big advantage.

I wanted to vote for Benfica but choose the last option as i thought abut Vitoria Guimaraes which is not in the poll list.

I doubt that they have real chances to fight for the title, IMO best what they can achieve is spot in Europa league. I'd rather would mention Braga as team which can make troubles for Big 3.

BTW, there Portugueese Super Cup final tomorrow between Porto and Benfica. Bookmakers are giving little advantage for Benfica. What you guys are backing?

There is no favorite in cup finals, both teams have equal chance.
Our local bookmaker give same 2.35 odds to both teams to win. It's really hard to pick, better stay away from side bets.
I believe Porto will win the cup but I don't know if we see extra time and penalties.

26 minutes played and Porto has just scored 1 goal and is winning. I speak Portuguese but I am very distant from the Portuguese league for the following reason:

There is only Porto in the Portuguese league. It is useless to follow the Portuguese league because there is no surprise at the end of the league, everyone knows who the champion will be. this season will be no different: Porto will be a champion again. sporting is only this security and provisionally the first place because in the end the port will be the only team that will be in the first position. In the event that something goes wrong, then the winner will be benfica

There is really a nice competition between the teams at the top positions now. Braga played a home match against Rio Ave last night. Braga were the favorite team and they succeeded in winning the match 3-0 easily. They have had a really good form lately. They won four of their last five matches in the league.

Porto are leading 1-0 now after the first half, but i still believe Benfica could make a comeback, maybe 1-1 or even win the game, i think the best thing to bet on live in this game is Benfica to score which is @1.58 or X2 (double chance for Benfica) which is at 2.4.

Actually it's more like a two teams league. Either Porto or Benfica will win the league in the end.
Benfica won the trophy 5 of last 7 seasons.

I really wish this season Sporting win the championship but I have doubts if they can continue with this form graphic.
The last champion other than Porto and Benfica was Sporting and that was 18 years ago!

when I say that the Portuguese league only exists the porto Is because the referees are in favor of Porto. already had several games where the porto wins due to the favor of the referees and unfortunately this is the biggest problem in the portuguese league. there is no way other teams can get space in the Portuguese league

Sporting Lisbon are going to play an away match against Belenenses on Sunday night. They are the leader in the league now. They have had a quite good form recently. They got 4 wins and 1 draw in their last 5 matches. They scored 13 goals and conceded 3 goals in those matches. Belenenses haven't had a decent performance lately. They managed to win just one of their last 5 matches. They got 1 loss and 3 draws in those matches. In my opinion, Sporting will continue their nice form by winning here without having big problems.

Porto are going to play an away match against Guimaraes next Wednesday. Both teams have had a decent form recently. Porto won their last four matches in the league. Guimaraes won their last three matches in the league. Porto scored 25 goals and conceded 13 goals in 10 matches. Guimaraes scored 11 goals and conceded 7 goals in 10 matches. I think this match won't be easy for Porto. It will be a tough match and it could end in a draw.

In addition to having a very consistent campaign, the recent victory of Guimarães over CD Santa Clara is an incentive for the team to try to reach the G3 and qualify for European competitions.
However, Porto isn't kidding either... there are 12 games without defeat, 11 wins and 1 draw. I agree with you that it will be a well-balanced game.
I bet on a game with many goals ... my bet: Porto 3 x 2 Guimaraes

Sporting won again and they look like the team to beat for the moment in the Primeira Liga. They have eleven games without losing a game. This shows there is harmony in the team and probably will be manifested during all the season where we most likely will see a Sporting as the Champions of Portugal again.

this season the battleship for the champion title will be very tight because Sporting, Benfica, Porto and even Braga are very close in the table. 5 points lead don't guarantee a calm life for Sporting.

There was a match between Belenenses and Sporting last night. I expected an easy Sporting win and they succeeded in doing that. Belenenses missed a penalty. If they wouldn't, maybe we would have seen a different match than this. Sporting continued their unbeaten streak by winning this match.

Sporting is vastly superior to all the other teams. They have won every game played so far except for a draw against Famalicao. I really think they will stay on the podium until the end, and as for the first position, I really suppose they will keep that as well.

I somehow agree with you but Portuguese league is an inconsistent winning league, a club might be doing well but will suddenly start loosing even to the least clubs, Benfica on the other hand will compete with CP as the league is just starting with 11 matches played so far. Let's see how it goes at season ending.

Porto and Benfica both dominated the Portuguese League in the last twenty years, it is really good to see some competition from Sporting, the last time a team other than porto and benfica won the Primeira Liga title was in 2001/2002 season, and guess who it was, yup Sporting lisbon, i hope they keep winning to make the league even more exciting.

are you sure:

Belenenses 1-2 Sporting

In this game Belenenses could have won easily, unfortunately they don't have good players. But my point is that it won't be long before the porto is benfica to overcome sporting and become a champion (porto or benfica one of them will be champion). Portuguese league Is very predictable in that part

Benfica 2-1 Portimonense

benfica plays very well, but when he plays with teams like porto and other big teams they miss opportunities to score goals and end up losing. It's as if they lacked playing experience or didn’t have confidence when they play with big teams, I don’t know what their problem is that whenever they are big teams they play like barcelona, they like to keep the ball for a long time and when Is time to score goals, fail miserably

Well, it looks good but being superior at the start of the season does not guarantee that Sporting will be consistent. Apart from that, Sporting have more time in rest and it is different from the teams below like Benfica and Porto, because they have less rest time because the previous schedule was so tight because they also played in CL and EL competitions.
From 11 matches so far:
Sporting: win 9, draw 2
Benfica: win 9, lose 2
Porto: win 8, draw 1, lose 2
With the results from these 11 games so far, I still believe Sporting will not be too strong to defend their top position.

What a match was Guimaraes-Porto last night. I was expecting a more balanced game but Porto really demolished Guimaraes on statistics. But this is football and not everything is statistics of course. Guimaraes had 2 shots on target and 2 goals. They were nearly getting one point here but Porto didn't let them by scoring the winning goal in the last minutes and they beat Guimaraes 3-2.

Sporting are going to play a home game against Braga this Saturday. Sporting are the leader with 29 points and Braga are the 4th with 24 points. Sporting didn't get a loss in 11 matches and won 9 of them. They are one of the scorer teams on home games (12 goals in 5 matches). Besides, Braga are one of the best teams on away games. They got 4 wins and 2 losses in 6 away games. They also scored 14 goals and conceded 8 goals on these matches. After losing to Belenenses, they won their last two games (by scoring 7 goals and conceding only 1 goal). In my opinion, this will be a tough match. But I think Sporting won't lose this too unless they get a red card etc. .

true, i don't think Sporting can keep the same performance throughout the whole season, and they're competing against Benfica and Porto which makes it really hard for them, they're like Real Sociedad in La liga, started really well but couldn't keep it for a long time.
I don't think it's correct to compare Sporting and Real Sociedad, it's one of Big 3 teams in Portugal, which usually finnish in Top 3. It's more like Atletico in La Liga. Though, in recent years Sporting squad doesn't looks very impressive, they don't have big stars. I watched their game with Belenenses and wasn't very impresesd. Belenenses  could have won, but they missed penalty.
But as I already said previously, Sporting didn't qualified to Europa league and it can be advantage for them. Their calendar is less intensive and they can focus onl eague games only.

Just favorite FC Porto on Primeira Liga (Portuguese League) because they have been strong although left four points from Sporting Lisbon and two points from Benfica,  I think still have many match for Porto FC back to glory and keep existing their trophy what have got last season. Many potential player on Porto FC and now still focus how to get good player become competitive with sporting and benfica.

Benfica are going to play an away game against Santa Clara this Sunday. Benfica are the 2nd with 27 points and Santa Clara are the 7th with 13 points. Benfica won their last 4 matches and they will play confidently here for sure. Santa Clara got only one win on their last five matches and lost the rest of them. This will be very tough for them. There were 4 matches between these teams in recent years. Benfica won 3 of them. Santa Clara won one of them 4-3 on their away game last season. Benfica have a psychological predominance too. I think Benfica will win here.

Today there is only one game in Portuguese league. The undefeated leader Sporting CP will play with Braga.
Sporting (9W-2D) has a great form but Braga (8W-3L) is also going really good this season. I'm expecting a though game. Both teams have good defensive lines, their conceded goal average is under 1.
I think Sporting is one step ahead and I really want them to keep this form going but I hesitate to bet on them.

Sporting-Braga match was just as I expected. It was really a challenging match and Braga had more chances than Sporting. Braga scored in the 46th minute but it was cancelled by VAR. It was the turning point of the match. Sporting scored 8 minutes later and got the advantage. They scored again in the 78th minute and won the match 2-0. They are still unbeaten and I wonder about when they will lose in the league.

Sporting 2-0 SC Braga

In the first part of the game Braga had more than 3 opportunities to score goals, the defense of sporting is very well when managing to prevent Braga from scoring goals and especially the goalkeeper of sporting was the guy I should praise the most. In the second part of the game braga scored a goal, but was offside, after that sporting woke up and managed to score the first goal in a very well done pass and it was well executed, it was a case for me to think: "braga, learn from sporting how to score goals" and it didn't take long for braga to have the same opportunity as sporting there was, but the sporting goalkeeper managed to defend the shot from the brada player who practically shot towards the sporting goalkeeper... and as in soccer there is that old rule: "when you miss many goals, the opponent will score the first chance he have and you will lose the game... "yesterday that rule once again penalized braga. there were 4 players of braga against only 1 sporting player but they were unable to prevent the sporting player as they let the sporting player shoot the goal and worse was the bad defense that the goalkeeper of braga made that allowed the sporting player to score the second goal

Braga continue to waste more opportunities to score

congratulations sporting!

Benfica drew with Santa Clara 1-1 away this evening. Benfica had too many dangerous attacks but they had only 2 shots on target. They really had much difficulty in finishing. Benfica finished the first half 1-0 ahead with the goal of Nunez. But Santa Clara weren't intending to give up of course and they managed to bring the score to 1-1 with the goal of Cardoso in the second half. After this match, Benfica went down to the 3rd place.

We have left another week behind in the league. Sporting and Porto continued winning but Benfica lost two points this time. Sporting are the leader and four points away from their closest competitors Porto and Benfica. If I am not wrong, Sporting haven't been the champion in the league for 20 years. They have a big chance to make this happen this year.

It would be a revolutionary thing if sporting was a champion, but looking at the classification it is clear that in the end Porto will be champions. knowing that benfica has serious problems when he plays because he misses opportunities to score a goal and as if that were not too much trouble they have problems staying too long with the ball in the opponent's zone, but when the opponents arrive in the benfica zone in the majority sometimes they score goals against benfica. there's no point playing well when they don't win... while the porto has a way of playing that produces results and wins games. porto will be champion again

Sporting are going to play an away game against Nacional tomorrow night. They still maintain their awesome unbeaten streak. Nacional are the 9th with 13 points in the league and I don't think they can fight back against Sporting. When I look at the head-to-head matches, Sporting overwhelmed them on so many matches. I think this will be another easy win for Sporting.

Sporting have a really good performance lately but I agree with you on Porto are more reliable team for being the champion. They are way more experienced team in this kind of situations comparing to Sporting. Porto are the last champion and I think the championship race will be between Sporting and Porto this season. I don't believe too that Benfica can do it this season. They are very unstable and I don't trust them this year.

Tondela got a win last week after 4 weeks of bad form. I think Tondela have no chance here and Benfica will win the match so easily.

CD Nacional 0-2 Sporting

sporting could have scored a lot of goals, but certain players have become selfish and the rain has also affected the performance of the teams

Benfica 2-0 Tondela

benfica played as usual, but tondela wasted 1 goal

Famalicão 1-4 FC Porto

something funny about that game is that until 19 minutes they were draw thanks to the penalty that the Famalicão was able to have and it even looked like the Famalicão would be able to draw, then the porto was also lucky to score a penalty against the Famalicão and after that came more two goals. porto still has a great chance of being champion again, but the big test for the porto will be the next game against Benfica

Porto got a clear 4-1 win against Famalicao. Porto were better in the first half and they finished it 2-1 ahead. Famalicao's only shot was goal. In the second half, we saw a more balanced game according to statistics. But Porto secured the win by scoring two more goals. They follow Sporting still 4 points behind.

Sporting continue playing very good and won another game. Their opponent is not a powerful team though. Benfica and Porto had weak opponents too and they got their easy wins. There is going to be an important match between Porto and Benfica next week. I can't wait to see it.

Excellent and dominating display from both Sporting lisbon and porto who both won away from home in an interesting title race. Benfica is also not far off from the title race with a comfortable home to remain 3rd on the log. I  will be making a bet on title winner after game week 18

Porto are going to play a home game against Benfica this week. I think there is a delightful match waiting for us. Porto are the 2nd and Benfica are the 3rd in the league. Both teams have 31 points. Porto have been winning for 7 matches. Benfica haven't lost for 5 matches (4W 1D). On the last 5 head-to-head matches, Porto have a dominance (4W 1L). I think Porto will be the winner on this match and both teams will score.

True, the result of this game will define the second of the championship for the next round, it will certainly be a very beautiful game to watch.

As Sporting maintains a good distance in the leadership, the victory of one of the teams is crucial in this game to cheer up to the team to the search for leadership, since even a tie would be very bad for both teams.

And... contrary to you, my bet is for benfica's victory

Yes its a big step for either teams so they can keep the winning streak and keep their chances at the title and it will be difficult i do not think porto will win easily i think a draw is more logical in this match and that will be beneficial for sporting .

Sporting will have a quite easy match comparing to this match. I think they will get an easy win against Rio Ave home and start waiting for the result of Porto-Benfica match. I agree on that it will be a hard match for both teams and I expect a draw too.

If Porto-Benfica match ends in a draw and Sporting win again, Sporting will increase the point difference with them to seven points which means Sporting will be one step closer to the title. I really want Sporting to take the championship this year. They haven't done it for many many years and I think they really deserve this season.

There are two days left to the Porto-Benfica game. This is one of the very important games in the league. Both teams are doing awesome things this season and they have the same points. But I believe that Porto will make use of playing home and defeat Benfica. My another bet will be on both teams to score.

It should be very interesting game. Porro will play at home and according to bookmakers, they are little favored by them. But I think there is no favorite, both teams are playing very well recently. But I will back Pprto tomorrow.
If game will end with a draw, real winners of it will be Sporting.

i agree with you, i think Porto has a good chance to win the match, and the odds on them to win are very tempting @2.51 , i think it's worth it,
i am also suspecting a 2 goals each draw, i'll watch how the 2nd half begins and see what to do.

O Clássico ended with 1:1 draw and status quo in the table remains. It was good game to watch, especially in the first half quality of game was great. 1:1 score probably reflects game very well.
In other game, Sporting wasted their chance to increase their lead and didn't managed to beat Rio Ave.
So, nothing hasn't changed on top 3 of table and all fight is ahead.

Benfica wasted many opportunities to score. in the 29th minute they had a great chance to score the second goal, in the 62nd minute benfica wasted yet another great opportunity to score and 10 minutes later the porto almost scored the second goal
. minutes later the porto player had a red card, not even with porto playing with 10 players benfica continued to waste opportunities to score goals and the game ended with a draw. The problem with benfica Is that has many opportunities to score goals, but fails

Today Vitoria Guimaraes will face Farense at home. I think they will win this one easily and given odds are too good to play. Farense is very bad in away games, they didn't get a win for 6 matches.
This is the first time they will meet since 2002, Farense is a newly promoted club. They are already struggling in the league.
I picked Vitoria Guimaraes from 1.62 odds in İddaa but you will see more than this odd in other bookmakers.

I was surprised that sporting team did not win their match against rio ave considering that rio ave team are very bad in away games they lost their three last ones without scoring but i think against sporting they were focused and determined  and i respect that as for sporting they lost a huge opportunity to widen the gap between them and their followers.

Surprisingly, Sporting drew with Rio Ave 1-1 despite playing way better than them. But Porto-Benfica game also ended in a draw (1-1). Sporting missed the chance of increasing the point difference but this is still good for them.

It is really surprising. Rio Ave is not a very good team. They have won just 3 matches this season. And they have drawn 6 matches. Sporting is playing great this season. It is really disappointing that a team in great form like Sporting will draw with Rio.

sporting has an incredible way of playing, in the opportunities they create they manage to create great danger to the opponent, this makes them better than the benfica, but the porto can also play like sporting. i think sporting should fight to win every game and if i have a 15 point difference in relation to benfica and porto then they will have a great chance of being champions. in the current scenario anything can happen

I wasn't expecting Sporting to lose this easy game too. But it was lucky for them that Porto-Benfica ended 1-1. Sporting' next matches against Porto and Benfica will be very important. If Sporting don't do mistakes on those games, their possibility of taking the championship will be so high.

SC Farense is a very easy opponent. They have won just 3 matches this season. They are the 16th team in the points table. Hopefully Porto will get a very easy win against them. I expect at least two goals from Porto in this match

Of course Benfica are the stronger side in this match. But there is an interesting situation now. Benfica have too many players who won't be able to play. 6 of them are on defense and 1 of them is a scorer, Waldschmidt (6 goals). Their main goalkeeper is injured too. There is a possibility that we can see a surprise result but I still think that Benfica will win.

Today we will see 4 matches in Portuguese league. The most important one is of course Porto's game. They will play with Farense at away game, I don't expect them to make any mistakes. They will win this game and make their point 35, which is 1 behind the leader Sporting. They should do this so Sporting feels some pressure.
Porto couldn't beat Benfica last week but it's not a big loss for them. It's an acceptable point loss. If they win all other matches with smaller teams they can wait Sporting to make a mistake and take the lead.

And your words about surprise turned into reality. Benfica weren't able to beat Nacional and game ended 1:1. Benfica missed a lot of players because of Covid and it was main factor of game.

The Portuguese league has always been an interesting league for me. Benfica lost 2 points today no matter how good he is ahead of the game. Porto does what it did and disables the league champions again. I want Sporting Lisbon, which has not been a champion for years, to become the champion. But towards the end of the league, there will be the champion with few mistakes. My championship candidate is Porto.
Porto is ahead 0-1 in the ongoing game. Let's see if they can win.

Benfica always do this. They tend to either lose or draw when you least expect them to. Their pre-match odds to win Nacional was @1.25. They were playing at home to a team they're several levels better than only to take the lead earlier in the game, couldn't double it throughout the first half until that equalizer came in.

I parlayed Benfica and Porto. Porto seems to be doing the job that Benfica couldn't. This Benfica team doesn't surprise me anymore.

It was actually looking like an easy game for Benfica but they couldn't win it because of having a lot of players missing. As you said, Porto have some players missing too but they are 1-0 ahead now. They played very dominantly in the first half. I think they won't make any mistakes and will beat Farense.

A very interesting and entertaining match will be held today. Sporting CP at the top of the points table will play today against Boavista, the team at the bottom of the points table. Sporting has not lost a single match this season. On the other hand, Boavista has won just one match this season.
In another match, SC Braga will play against Gil Vicente FC. Hopefully, Braga will win this match very easily.

It is funny how bookmakers point at a whooping odd of 1.5 for Sporting which I consider it misleading trying to keep people away from making money.Sporting plays only to win every game as they want to be back winning the title and surely Boavista is not a team which can held them back.If I were the bookmaker I would give Sporting a maximum odd if 1.2 and no more.

This is a tie which sporting has to take seriously and win so that they can extend their league at the top of the table; i say this because sporting struggled at home against 12th place Rio Ave and had a draw; which is not good if you want to win the league title. I am sure the team obviosuly will correct their mistakes and win convincingly.
Sporting to win this 3 - 1 to Rio Ave

Sporting (4W 1D) and Benfica (2W 3D) both had no loss in the last 5 games in the league. Benfica got a surprise result against Nacional in their last game and they had many important missing players. The situation is still the same for them. So, I think Sporting won't lose this opportunity and will beat them here.

Let me also mention that in any country, the matches without spectators have no taste. I hope the epidemic is over as soon as possible and there will be spectators in stadiums.

Yes, maybe but I'm sure the two teams with the same points will make the game tough, even though Nacional plays at home I don't think that's a guarantee for 3 points. Famalicao when playing away has a better record with 7 away games, 2 win and draw, 3 losses. Likewise with the home team, I don't think it's a good record so both teams still have a chance to get 3 points but I still believe a draw will be the final result in this match.

It is very difficult to guess about the teams in the middle of the points table. Because they are very unpredictable. They win against the hard team and then lose against the easy team. But their matches against easy teams are very exciting. I enjoy these matches very much

This is one of the important games for Sporting for coming close more to the championship. I think that we will see goals from both sides and Sporting could win this with a 1-goal difference.
Benfica still won't have many players because of illness. So, Sporting have advantage because of this. 2.60 odds for Sporting win looks tempting. If Benfica will lose this game, I think they're out of title race.
In other game Porto without many important players will face Rio Ave.

The Sporting team has played 15 matches so far. And the funny thing is that no team has been able to beat Sporting CP till now. They have dominated the Primeira Liga. However, Porto and Benfica are 4 and 6 points behind from the Sporting CP respectively. However, Benfica and Porto have lost two matches this season.
The match between Sporting CP and Benfica is going to be held tomorrow. The goal of both teams will be to win. I would be happy if Benfica could win. Then this season will become more competitive

I doubt Benfica will win tonight. The only lost Sporting has in Portugal is in the cup and they are completely focused on the Primeira Liga this year. They are playing at home against a direct competitor and this gives them motivation because if they win this game then Benfica can be considered almost out of the title fight and Sporting will do whatever they can to win tonight.

Braga are going to play an away game against Moreirense tonight. Braga are the 4th with 30 points and Moreirense are the 8th with 18 points. Moreirense got 2 wins (2W 2D 1L) and Braga got 3 wins (3W 2L) in the last 5 games in the league. Moreirense lost only once (3W 4D 1L) in their home games. In the last 5 head-to-head games, Braga won 4 times and Moreirense won once. At Moreirense, Amador Pedro Miguel Santos, Derik Lacerda and Nuno Pedro (2 goals) are injured. At Braga, Francisco Moura (2 goals) is injured. Braga follow Benfica from 3 points behind. Benfica also have a hard away game against Sporting. I think Braga will make use of this chance and win their game.

Benfica - Sporting

this will be a pressure game for the benfica side and for the sporting side things are easier. but this game will not decide the whole championship, there are still many games to go and benfica and porto still have many chances, knowing this portuguese league i am not convinced that if sporting wins it will already be champion

Sporting - Benfica wasn't most exciting game, but what ending of it there was. There wasn't many moments in the game, both teams didn't risked much because price of mistake was big. But on 92 minute Sporting managed to score goal and take a win.
Very important win for Sporting. Now Benfica are 9 points behind them and they're probably out of title race.

Sporting showed their class, will and determination to win the tie right at the end of the game; and this will do their confidence so many good. Porto 4 nil win at home now takes them to just 4 point off Sporting. Can Porto remain consistent and win the league title ?

Benfica is officially out of the title fight for me.The funny thing is although Sporting was leading the Championship still their odds from different bookmakers were 3.10 compared to 2.30 of Benfica and I don’t understand this.Even the goal difference was much better for Sporting with a much better defence stats.

I don’t think Porto has the power this year to outshine Sporting based on each team stats for this year but anything can happen.

It was definitely awesome to see Sporting managing to win with the goal they scored in the last minutes of the match. I also agree that the game generally was so boring. But this win could get Benfica out of the championship race as you said.

Yes, out of 16 matches Sporting haven't lost and that is a very good result, considering the title race is usually only two teams between Benfica and Porto. But this season looks like it will be the difference because Sporting are very consistent compared to the other teams below, even though the gap of 4 points with Porto who is currently ranked 2 I am sure Sporting will be able to maintain its position. That way, the title race this season will belong to Sporting and Porto, to be honest at first I wasn't sure Sporting would stay at the top but so far Sporting are still holding out even without defeat, so obviously Sporting will be strong candidates this season for the title.

Sporting are getting closer every week to the championship step by step. After defeating Benfica in a tough game, the most probable team that can catch them is Porto now. I also wonder what will happen in the next game between Porto and Sporting. We are right in the middle of the season and we will see what the time will show us.

Today during Belenenses - Porto game something really bad happened. Porto player Nanu collided with goalkeeper and was knocked out:
https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/02/04/video-horrific-moment-between-porto-and-belenenses-as-nanu-knocked-out-during-goalkeeper-clash/
He suffered very strong hit, it looked really bad. He was carried out on a stretcher unconscious. Let's hope that he is ok.
Game ended 0:0, but it's not important thing now.

Sporting are going to play an away game against Maritimo tonight. Sporting are maintaining their leadership with 42 points and Maritimo are the 10th with 17 points. Sporting didn't get any loss (4W 1D) and Maritimo won only once (1W 1D 3L) in the last 5 games in the league. Maritimo won only two of their home games (2W 2D 3L). Sporting are the best in away games (7W 1D). In the last 5 head-to-head games, Sporting won 2 times, Maritimo won only once and the rest of them ended in a draw.

Missing player(s) at Maritimo: Claudio Winck Neto, Edgar Costa
Missing player(s) at Sporting: Neto

Porto lost points in their game against Belenenses yesterday (0-0). This is a good opportunity for Sporting to get away more from them. I think Sporting will be the winner here.

Sporting lisbon would be winning tonight away at Maritimo; i say this because the Sporting players and coach are aware that Porto dropped 2 points last night; and there is supposed to be renewed determination to get away with 3 points and goals at mid table side Maritimo. While also having it in mind that a win will take Sportinc CP 6 points clear at the top of the league

Porto's point loss yesterday might cost them more than 2 points. If Sporting win tonight against Maritimo they make point difference 3 to 6 and that means more than 2 games difference. They should use this advantage.
I don't expect Sporting to make any mistakes tonight. That's a really good opportunity for them. Maritimo have 3 loss streak while Sporting have 4 win streak. On form Pedro Goncalves can score again tonight. I'm waiting a good game and 3 points for Sporting.

I was afraid of the possibility that Sporting could lose points unexpectedly too. But thankfully, it didn't happen and Sporting destroyed their opponent 2-0. Now, they are a little closer to the championship. The point difference has gone up to 6 with Porto.

There is few games in Primeira Liga today and now Benfica have no problems against Famalicao, they leading 2:0 at 60 minute.
Meanwhile, Porto dropped 2 important points against Braga yesterday. They were leading 2:0 until 87 minute, but then Braga made amazing comeback and made score 2:2 in the end. Very hot end of the game.

Porto lost points two times in a row. But it was a really dramatic game I think. Porto were so relieved when they get the 2-0 advantage. But everything changed after J. Corona got his second yellow card. Braga took the control of the game and they managed to get 1 point. The minutes of the goals were 87 and 90+4 which was a shock for Porto. Now, Sporting will increase the point difference to 8 if they beat Gil Vicente away tomorrow night.

Porto and Sporting both will play a very easy game I think. Porto have been losing points for 2 weeks and Sporting made an incredible comeback in their last game against Gil Vicente. Porto need to do much better than this if they want to take the lead. Boavista are at the last place and I don't expect anything from them in this match. Porto will win it too easily.

Boavista 2 - 2 FC Porto

Boavista played very well, they scored the first goal and had two more great chances to score more goals, but finally Boavista managed to score the second goal. what I am surprised Is that Boavista was playing much better than Porto and was winning with a good advantage, but even with this good performance of Boavista... Porto managed to score 2 goals and draw the game. Is something that seems a little strange to me. is also the expected of the Portuguese league. always have an invisible hand to make the porto win

Today:

Benfica - Moreirense

benfica cannot lose, but also after the interviews benfica coach, it's clear that you can't ask for much from benfica in the next 5 games

Porto once again fails to close the gap between them and first place Sporting as they dropped 2 points away at Boavista. Benfica meanwhile have a chance to close the gap between them and second place Porto with a win at home against Moreirense. A comfortable 3 nil win for Benfica is my prediction

Braga odds are really good, I think they will beat Santa Clara. They played with Porto 2 times and draw both games. I believe Carvalhal can get 3 points in this though away game, I know his management skills are good, back in Turkish league days. Braga have a 4 games unbeaten streak. Today that won't change.

Benfica is heavy favorite against Moreirense and odds are also reflecting that. I wouldn't bet on them for such low odds. Moreirense also won their last 2 games. Is it possible to see any surprise here? Maybe, but I prefer to stay away for this game.

Tomorrow Sporting will have chance to increase their lead against Porto up to 10 points. They will play against Pacos de Ferreira. Though, it shouldn't be easy - Pacos are doing very well recently, won 4 their recent games.

Braga have been the most profitable team in terms of the results of this week so far. They are at the 3rd place and only 1 point behind Porto now. As you said, Ferreira aren't an easy opponent for Sporting in this match. Ferreira are at the fifth place having 35 points and they are only 3 points behind Benfica. They won 6 of their last 7 matches and didn't lose any match. They defeated Braga 2-0 also. Sporting should be prepared well for this match. Otherwise, I think Ferreira can get at least one point.

Sporting CP ? - ? Pacos de Ferreira After second placed team Porto dropped 2 points in the league over the weekend; Sporting can go 10 points clear at the top of the league at game week 19 in what has been a very fascinating and interesting season so far. Sporting play 5th team Pacos and i think it would end in a 1-1 draw. What do you think ?

Sporting has the luxury to not fully concentrate on this game although they are going to win and seal the Championship as this means going far and not easy to be catched by the opponents. However that 1.45 odd for Sporting when playing at home where they are really strong make me not bet on this game.

It is 1.45 because their opponent Ferreira have been really strong for 7 weeks in the league. If Sporting underestimate them, they could get a surprising result. Even if Sporting draw with Ferreira tonight, they will still be in a good condition in the table.

Considering this is football, everything is possible as long as Sporting don't guarantee the championship mathematically. But logically, I think Porto, Braga and Benfica have a too difficult job to do to able to keep up with Sporting and decrease the point difference. 10-point difference is really nice for Sporting even though there are still many games to be played.

I think Porto, Braga Benfica will reduce the difference from Sporting CP. But they can't beat Sporting. 10 points are too much. To go 10 points behind, the Sporting team has to lose at least 3 matches and draw one match. Maybe Sporting will lose 3/4 matches but will Benfica or Porto win all their other matches?

Sporting are going to play a home game against Portimonense this weekend. Sporting are the leader with 51 points and Portimonense are the 12th with 19 points. Sporting didn't get any loss (5W) and Portimonense won only once (1W 2D 2L) in the last 5 games in the league. Sporting still haven't got a loss in home games (7W 2D). Portimonense have won only once in their away games (1W 2D 7L). In the last 5 (official) head-to-head games, Sporting won all of them. Sporting beat Portimonense 2-0 on Oct 4, 2020.

And also, main their rivals continue to give gifts for them. Benfica played goaless draw with Farense. Porto playing 1:1 with Maritimo at halftime. Such results let Braga to go up in to 2nd place.

Sporting, Porto and Braga all managed to win their matches of this week therefore there isn't any change in the point differences. Benfica got a draw and lost points 2 times consecutively. Porto were also nearly losing 2 points too but Otavio scored a penalty in the stoppage time and they managed to win.

Porto only found the winning goal in last minute with a penalty. They were too lucky today but they might not be next time.
Sporting is still in a very comfortable position as there are 10 points difference. Braga also won and Benfica got draw, so things go not so well for Benfica. Second place go to Champions League directly so it's important too. Porto and Braga will have a nice battle for second spot.

I agree. I can't also say that Porto fully deserved to win because Maritimo fought against them really well. Sporting were so close to pull away more from Porto.  ;D  They are still in a very good condition having a 10-point difference though. It seems that Sporting players have really started feeling that they are getting really close to the championship step by step. I've started waiting excitedly for Porto-Sporting match on this Saturday.

Porto made my heart shake all the time until the goal was made in 95 minute.I did not expect such a weak Porto against the worst team of the Primeira Liga which is Maritimo.Maritimo has never played as well as yesterday and I was mad thinking,”you woke up now trying to get a point against one of the leaders” until I won the only bet yesterday which was Porto to win.

It was so unexpected, yes. Considering Maritimo are at the last place and have a horrible form, many of us thought that it could be an easy match for Porto. But Maritimo put up a really good fight. Something is really not going on good for Porto and I wonder what they will do against Sporting this week. If they don't get a win, Sporting's job will be easier to win the title.

Sporting is already 10 points ahead of other teams in the same number of matches. Reducing 10 gaps is not an easy task. And the important thing is that Sporting is now in perfect form. Each team will play about 14 more matches. If Sporting can't win 5/6 of these matches then maybe their position in the points table will change. Besides, there is no possibility of change

Porto are going to play a home game against Sporting this weekend and it will be a very delightful game surely. Sporting maintain their lead with 54 points and Porto are the 2nd with 44 points. Porto (2W 3D) and Sporting (5W) both didn't get any loss in the last 5 games in the league. Porto have lost only once in their home games (7W 2D 1L). Sporting maintain their incredible performance in their away games (9W 1D). In the last 5 head-to-head games, Sporting and Porto both won twice and 1 game ended in a draw. Porto drew with Sporting 2-2 away on Oct 17, 2020.

There is no missing player at Porto.
There is no missing player at Sporting.

This is a great opportunity for Porto to decrease the point difference with Sporting. But Porto have been having difficulties on getting a win in the league. They barely managed to beat Maritimo which is the worst team in the league. Even getting one point will be advantageous for Sporting for the championship. I think it will end in a draw.

Braga are going to play an away game against Nacional this weekend. Braga are the 3rd with 43 points and Nacional are the 11th with 21 points. Braga didn't get any loss (4W 1D) and Nacional got 2 wins (2W 1D 2L) in the last 5 games in the league. In the last 5 (official) head-to-head games, Braga won all of them. Braga beat Nacional 2-1 home on Oct 17, 2020.

Missing player(s) at Nacional: Larry Azouni, Nuno Borges (1 goal)
Missing player(s) at Braga: Nuno Sequeira, David Carmo, Francisco Moura (2 goals)

Nacional lost their last 2 games. Braga have an incredible form lately. They are only 1 point behind Porto and there is also a Porto-Sporting game this week. I think Braga will get a win in this game and wait for Porto to lose points.

Two matches will be held tomorrow. One is between Vitoria SC vs Boavista, the other is between Famalicao vs Ferense. These two matches are not very important match. In the match between Vitoria and Boavista, I wanted to bet on Vitoria. But Vitoria's recent performance is terribly bad. In another match, I am keen to bet on Famalicao. Hopefully, Famalicao won’t disappoint me.

Benfica are going to play a home game against Rio Ave next Monday. Benfica are the 4th with 39 points and Rio Ave are the 9th with 22 points. Benfica won once (1W 3D 1L) and Rio Ave got 2 wins (2W 1D 2L) in the last 5 games in the league. Benfica have lost one home game (7W 2D 1L). Rio Ave have won twice in their away games (2W 4D 4L). In the last 5 head-to-head games, Benfica won all of them. In this season, Benfica beat Rio Ave 3-0 away on Oct 18, 2020.

Top of the table clash between Porto and title leaders, Sporting CP is about to go down. Since I'm with team Sporting to win the league the season, I want them to win tonight but Porto isn't an easy team to beat so a draw should be good for both parties, especially for Sporting. Both teams put out a strong line up for the match so it should be interesting to watch. Been looking for where to stream but had no luck so I'll follow it up via livescore websites.

My pick:
Over 2.5 goals.

So, this game ended with a goaless draw. It wasn't most exciting game, Porto controlled ball and made much more dangerous attacks but didn't managed to score. Sporting focused on defense. After all, this result obviously is good for Sporting, their big 10 point lead against Porto remains same.

Benfica 2 - 0 Rio Ave

A good Victory for Benfica; with talisman Everton pulling the strings to send Benfica to the fourth position in the league standings; 3 points away from European spots and 4 points ahead of fifth place Pacos. A question, between Porto and Braga; who do you think Benfica can oust for an European spot?

It was a really interesting game. Sporting couldn't do literally anything against Porto away but I can't also say that Porto's performance was very good. Still Sporting got lucky and didn't get a loss. This was maybe the most important game for Porto and they didn't win. Therefore, Sporting are a little more closer to the championship now.

That was the objective of Sporting to not lose any points with the direct rival for the title. Now they have a comfortable lead against Porto and the other teams and it will be very difficult for them to lose the title now.

Benfica played well against Rio Ave to keep their hope alive for passing at least Porto in the standings as there are enough games for such task and now they are out of Europa League with a full focus on the Primeira Liga.

~snip~

Exactly! Even getting one point was going to be enough for Sporting to be comfortable and they got what they wanted. By the way, Braga have got past Porto in the league table and they are 9 points away from Sporting. Porto got too many draws in their last matches which caused them to be far away from Sporting.

Sporting CP got another win and now they are far ahead of their opponents in championship race. Pedro Goncalves scored early and things went good for Sporting until 84th minute. Rui Costa scored for Santa Clara but despite they were running out of time they attacked with all of their players and defender Coates scored a nice header in the last minute and don't let that two point loss happen. Sporting fans are waiting for that dream come true. There are still 12 games though.

Sporting was nothing special today and I would liked to see them dropping points just to make fight for trophy more interesting.
After Sporting scored goal, they haven't created almost nothing dangerous. And eventually they let Santa Clara to score. In general, it wasn't most exciting game to watch, but just because of dramatic ending when Sporting managed to take 3 points with late goal, it was worth to watch.

In general, Sporting didn't have the control of the match as the statistics show us. It was a shock for them that they conceded a goal in the 84th minute. But what a team they are that they still managed to be victorious with the goal Coates scored in the 90+3rd minute.  ;D  Getting 18 wins in 22 matches and not losing any are really incredible for them and they are the most deserving team to be the champions undoubtedly.

I also think Sporting is the only suitable team to be the champion this season. They have not lost a single match this season. They are 10 points ahead of second-placed Porto. Porto will not be able to touch them if he can maintain his great form as he is now. Porto, Benefica and Braga are playing well enough this season.

Belenenses SAD 0 - 3 Benfica A 3 goal commanding victory sent Benfica to 4th on the league standing and just 3 points away from the champions league positions; would who they replace on the log? Braga or Porto ?

Braga are destroying Guimaraes right now 2-0 and the second half has just started. If they win this match, they will maintain the 2nd place with 49 points. While Sporting and Porto are continuing to win, Benfica and Braga also are doing really good. There is a big battle for the 2nd place among Braga, Porto and Benfica.

Sporting CP are 10 points clear at the top of the league and ofcourse have little to worry about as the title in right in their hands. On the other hand, Porto, Benfica and Braga has to keep on winning consistently in the race for the champions league spot.

Benfica ? - ? Maritimo
Moreirense ? - ? Sporting CP
Farense ? - ? SC Braga
FC Porto ? - ? Santa Clara

What are your predictions?

I see that there isn't much action in this thread recently. Probably because nothing very interesting didn't happened lately. But now Sporting dropped points against Famalicao - match ended 1:1. Last round they also played draw with Moreirense. After these 2 upsets things are getting more interesting. Porto is 6 points behind now with 10 rounds remaining. Though, there is probably just 2 games which is really difficult for Sporting remaining - against Braga and Benfica.

Sporting CP, who is in great form, have shared points in 2 consecutive matches. I could have comforted myself if Sporting had shared points with a stronger team. They shared points with smaller teams like Famalicao and Maritimo. The team is the 13th and 16th team in the two points table. I didn't expect such a bad performance from Sporting CP.

The Portuguese League is not as attractive as the other European leagues, maybe because there are not many world-class players in this league.

However, it is actually quite interesting to look forward to who will become the Portuguese league champion, because the points of each top team are not too far away.

There are still many games left, all possibilities could happen, but I have more faith in Sporting Club Portugal (Sporting CP).

Yes indeed poor performance from them and they lost four points and porto with their five consecutive wins are now only six points away in second position and with better performance which they demonstrated in their last games and against chelsea yesterday i think we will see a competitive end of season and sporting team need to ebe carefull.

I would be happy if Sporting CP is defeated on the next field. Because of the current state of the points table, it is easy to assume that they will win the title this season if they do not lose the form. Porto is now  6 points behind From Sporting. Sporting will make the season more competitive if they lose a few more points.

I personally still believe Sporting will keep their lead at the top, even though yesterday I was disappointed by Sporting because of the draw against Famalicao, but it looks like this is a good season for Sporting to get the title and I'm sure Sporting will make good use of this moment. The draw is not a problem because in the next match Sporting will still get another three points, a good achievement for Sporting so far they have not lost.

Porto have managed to decrease the point difference with Sporting to 6 and it's fired up the competition for the title again. There are 8 weeks left and I wonder whether Porto will be able to get closer.

Each team will play 8 more matches. It is very difficult to fill the gap of 6 points in 8 matches. Must be defeated in 2 matches of Sporting CP. Then maybe Sporting and Porto's points will be equal. Porto is now in a stable position. I don't think they will lose points in the next matches. But still, I think the title will win by Sporting.

The second half of the game was really competitive, I agree. Sporting got really lucky that they didn't concede any goal at the end. 21 wins, 6 draws... It's really insane for Sporting and like you said, it's a new record now. And there are still 7 games ahead which means they can improve the record.

Yesterday I already wanted to write post that Sporting is going to get first loss this season. But it was late time already, so I didn't watched game until the end and went to sleep when Belenenses were leading 2:0. So, I missed great comeback by Sporting. They managed to equalize score on 95th minute by scoring penalty.
It's 3rd draw for Sporting in recent 4 games, so it's getting more interesting on the top. If Porto will win against Guimaraes tonight, they will be just 4 points behind Sporting with 8 rounds remaining.

Anyway, it should have been for Sporting to keep getting points in every game because if not, it would be possible for Porto to replace it. I just keep getting disappointed when betting for Sporting because the result is always losing, even though Sporting get a draw which is still basically good for the team but for me, it's a losing streak of betting. Lol!
For today's match I'm betting on Porto's win and the Under result for the Benfica match.

Sporting CP will have a smooth run when it comes to success against Braga, CD Nacional and Rio Ave.

Oh yes, my bad. I knew that there is 18 clubs in the league, but still I had in mind that there is 36 rounds, don't know why :D.
And remaining schedule loojs a bit easier for Porto, only though game for them remaining is against Benfica. But unlike Sporting, they already don't have room for mistake.

Unlike other leagues, the Portuguese NOS League is only filled with 18 clubs. So there are only 6 matches left, not 8.

By the way, from 6 matches remaining, Sporting CP have a tough challenge against Braga on 26 April and against Benfica on 16 of May.

Sporting CP will have a smooth run when it comes to success against Braga, CD Nacional and Rio Ave.

No problem at all, Everyone makes mistakes.

If you look at the consistency of Sporting CP, it is absolutely clear that they will win the Portuguese league this season.

But at least Porto can enter the UEFA Champions League without qualifying if they play well until the end of the league.

Tondela 2 - 1 Nacional
Gil Vicente 0 - 3 Famalicao
Portimonense 1 - 5 Benfica
59'FC Porto 1 - 0 Vitoria de Guimaraes

Today's result in the Portuguese League. Benfica win takes them back to 3rd place, 2 points ahead of Braga and 6 points off second placed Porto. Famalicao away win takes them away from the relegation zone for yet another game week. The title race meanwhile is tight as well between Porto and Sporting Lisbon.

After Sporting drew with Belenenses and Porto defeated Guimaraes, the point difference between them is only 4 points now. And we are in the last 6 weeks of the league. I wonder Porto will manage to make a big comeback and take the lead. Sporting actually haven't lost a game yet but they've got many draws which caused Porto to get very close to them.

Belenenses SAD 2 - 1 Gil Vicent
Benfica 2 - 1 Santa Clara
Famalicao 2 - 2 Tondela
Nacional 1 - 0 Vitoria de Guimaraes
Moreirense 1 - 0 FC Porto

Beautiful results today in the portuguese league with Benfica winning at home to Clara to go 3 points behind 2nd placed FC Porto while Guimaraes suffered a blow in their quest for european football with a defeat at bottom placed Nacional.

Sporting CP remain 4 points clear at the top after Porto snatched a very late draw away at 7th placed Moreirense with the late goal scored by Taremi (penalty spot) and Porto had a late goal chalked off; Will Porto slip off the top 2 spot ? Will Sporting CP lose the title ? The battle is on!!!

What a drama there was in Moreirense - Porto game which ended 1:1. Moreirense played good defensive football and were leading until 86th minute. On additional time Porto scored goal, but here comes VAR and goal was cancelled - there was 10 cm offside. Sporting can be happy about this result, now they keep 6 points advantage.
But fun things didn't ended after end of game. Porto manager and staff attacked referee that even help of security and police was needed to protect referee. I don't know why they were unhappy, IMO referee worked well in this game. Seems that Conceicao will be disqualified for few games at least.

Maritimo 1 - 0 SC Braga

SC Braga has slipped off the race for champions league spot and will have to settle for an europa league spot after their defeat tonight to relegation threatened Maritimo who has gone atleast 5 points off the drop with 3 more game weeks to come.

Tomorrow meanwhile,
Tondela ? - ? Benfica ; Benfica has an early opportunity to put pressure on second placed Porto with a win away at Tondela in the race for 2nd position (champions league spot)

FC Porto ? - ? Famalicao ; While Porto must avoid a slip off as well as put pressure on first place Sporting Lisbon who play on saturday; what are your predictions?

Tondela Vs Benfica

Prediction
1. Tondela 1 - 3 Benfica
2. Tondela 0 - 3 Benfica
3. Tondela 0 - 2 Benfica

Porto Vs Famalicao

Prediction
1. Porto 4 - 2 Famalicao
2. Porto 3 - 0 Famalicao
3. Porto 3 - 1 Famalicao
4. Porto 2 - 0 Famalicao

I think they both (Benfica and Porto) will not lose the match, they are in the phase to fight for second place, what will be interesting is the match which will be held on 7 May, the match between Benfica vs Porto.

How do you predict the match between Benfica vs Porto?

I think tonight both Porto and Benfica have some easy games.I am more confident in a Porto win rather than Benfica.Porto needs the win more in order to not compromise a direct Champions League place for the next season while Benfica even if it does not win nothing really changes for them.

Sporting managed to defeat Braga away the last while playing even with one less men. And their next match which is vs Nacional home is much easier for them. I think they will maintain their unbeaten streak.

This season I am fascinated as much as I watch the matches of Sporting CP. They have played 29 matches this season, and have not lost a single match. Sporting will play only 5 more matches this season, not all of their upcoming opponents except Benefica are very strong. Hopefully, they won't lose a single match this season.

I also believe that Sporting will not make a mistake again and get a decent win against Nacional. Porto defeated Famalicao 3-2 last night and decreased the point difference with Sporting to only 3. Sporting should continue to win to maintain the gap.

Sporting CP ? - ? Nacional; Sporting has to win tonight to remain firm in control of the title race; what are your predictions ?

This is a very hard time for Sporting, a single lose from them will bring down their points and also
their  position. Porto is fighting it way to the top, winning against Famalicao yesterday boosted their points to  70. Decreasing the points gap with Sporting to 3. The only way Sporting can maintain their position on the table is to win more matches. After Chelsea kicked Porto out of the Champion League, the Primeira league cup is their hope for the season. If Sporting wants to win the league this season, they must secure their position with more winning.

Sporting are yet to play a match in this round so it is clear there is only a 3 point gap from Porto. Sporting will play against Nacional today which of course Sporting will win the match, because Nacional itself is the team that puts the bottom position in the standings to be relegated. If Sporting win then the gap is 6 points and I am sure Sporting will be able to keep it to the end as there are only 4 rounds left.

How do you predict the match between Benfica vs Porto?
The match schedule for the two clubs starts May 16 next week, FC Porto for now cannot be underestimated, the club FC Porto has a great manager and goalkeeper this season, Benfica is also not bad for this season in the Portuguese league, Porto was the last challenge this time for Benfica, I saw from the development so far the two teams Benfica vs. FC Porto, have the best current record in the Portuguese Cup, both currently have an unbeaten streak.

If you ask me, I will answer and predict between Benfica vs. FC Porto is a draw, for this season in the Portuguese Cup.
Benfica vs. FC Porto will end with an away, away / final match which will determine both, win and lose.

In today's match, the Santa Clara team lost 1-0 to Famalicao. I won the bet of this match. Sporting CP is almost certain to win the Primeira Liga title. They are 8 points ahead of the second-placed Porto. Sporting has been performing exceptionally well since the beginning of the season. And I'll be happy if they can win the title until then. They have not lost a single match this season.

After 20 years of waiting, Sporting are very close to the title in the Primeira Liga. There is a 8-point gap with Porto in the table now and there are only 3 weeks left. If Sporting manage to beat Boavista two days later, they will guarantee the championship. It will be a really dramatic match because of that. And I believe in them that they will make it.

Sporting is in great form now, they will win this season's title by any means. The opponents in the next 3 matches of Sporting are Boavista, Benfica and Maritimo respectively. The other two opponents are not very strong except Benfica.  I think Sporting will win the next match and secure the title.

Sporting is topping the League and also keeping a nice points gap from Porto. Sporting have played 31 matches so far and lose none. They have won 24 and drawed 7 matches, i think they will end this season unbeatable. They will be playing against Boavista, which is currently in the relegation play off and needs more points to secure a space in the League next season. Benfica is the only tough team Sporting will be facing which is on the 15th, I believe they will win this season trophy.

Sporting will guarantee their championship one match later. 3 weeks left and they are 8 points ahead. Porto couldn't beat Benfica last week and Sporting fans already started their celebrations. We can expect Sporting to lift trophy this Tuesday.
For other spots I don't think there will be changes. Porto would probably finish second, Benfica third and Braga fourth place. Nacional and Farense will be relegated.

I haven't realized that it took so long time for Sporting to win title. Damn, 20 years for club like Sporting is way too much, when they won league last time, some of their younger fans wasn't even born yet. If they will manage to end season without defeats, it will make their championship even more sweet.

Agree about top spots, but in relegation zone there still may be changes, gaps aren't big, only Nacional probably have no chance to stay.
I'm looking at table and position of Rio Ave. I just remembered that they almost kicked out Milan from this season Europa league qualification in crazy game and one of the best penalty shootouts I ever saw. It would be sad if they will relegate.

I didn't know its been that long since sporting CP last won the Primeira Liga so I just checked; since 2001/2002 that's a really long time. I'm glad they're finally getting a shot a winning the title this season. Sporting has been one of my favorite team this year to back and they've made me some money since they didn't have much disappointments all season. Sporting will definitely smash through Boavista on Tuesday. Compared to Boavista, they're a much better team.

So, now it's official - Sporting is champions of Primeira Liga 2020/2021 season. Well deserved, what I can say.
But they still have one mission remaining - end season without defeats. They have remaining games with Benfica and Maritimo. And I'm sure that their city rivals will want to ruin party for champions :).
After all, invincibles season isn't that often in top European leagues. Though, Porto already did it in Primeira Liga back in 2012/13 season.

So, Sporting didn't managed to end season undefeated, they lost Lisbon derby against Benfica 4:3. I'm not fan of Sporting, but I wanted Sporting to achieve it, it would had made their title even more special. But game was really good to watch, 7 goals scored says a lot about it, I think.

If Sporting had played a little better in the first half, the outcome of the match would have been different. Benfica scored 3 goals in the first half, and they played defensively in the second half and they won.

Famalicoa impressed me today, they did super great by winning Nacional. Rodugues haven scored the first goal 39 minutes into the game, assisted Valenzuela into scoring the third and last goal.

Nacional is in the relegation zone with fewer chances of escaping, their performance this season are very poor. They have won only 6 matches, meanwhile, they have lost about 20 matches. I don't think they will be able to play in the Primeira Liga next season.

Portimonense is safe even though it lost today but its position will still be safe, and even though Boavista wins but still Portimonense is safe there. Rio Ave and SC Farense must win but they also expect Boavista to lose, so I think Rio Ave and SC Farense are almost impossible to get out of the relegation zone. Boavista only needed a draw in this last game, and that's enough for Boavista to stay in the league next season.
