Title: basic trading advise
Post by: ardencrypto on December 22, 2020, 10:04:57 PM
hey all,

I've just started messing about with crypto and pretty much know nothing, so please bear with me.

After messing about with a few trades and watching my money go down due to transaction fees, I've finally settled on a crypto, NYB.

I have just over 70,000 NYB in my coinbase wallet on my phone and the current value is showing as about 4.5K euro. But when I try to trade it on uniswap, the value I get is about 230 euro.

I connected my coinbase wallet on my phone to uniswap, this I'm guessing is how it's showing up in there.

I'm sure I've got something wrong, but not sure what. Should I transferr the crypto to an online wallet and trade from there in order to get the higher value or is the uniswap value the real value and the coinbase wallet is having a bad day and reporting it wrong?

Note, I can show the transactions on block explorer but not sure if that's a no no, sharing such info, like I said, I'm very new to crypto.

Thanks!!
arden

There's a very high chance that coinbase is quoting the price data from an unreliable source or a source that is not well updated because if you look at the NYB markets, (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/new-year-bull/markets/) the total price you will get from all the total tokens you have is way lower than 1.4K Euros and the prices seems to be continuously dropping. Right now the cost of all the 70,000 NYB on uniswap is worth 0.171 WETH which is about $108.

Moving the tokens to another wallet from coinbase changes nothing

Hi Arden, it's ok to show txid's if you need to show it. But you don't actually have to show it to anyone if it's not needed. As explained by bitcoin arena, it's just about the pricing where coinbase is basing.

But whether you sell it at a good price or not, there's not that much volume on it.

This is like bitcoin arena said. You must check the actual market price of the token on an exchange cause feed like price data might probably wrong sometime. Check whether there are other reference price for your token but Im afraid if uniswap reflect that price then that's the real valuation. Beware of the fake price tokens on a reference guide like coinmarketcap or coingecko cause they collect data or volume sometime aren't accurate that shows and affect the general market price of those exchanges.

What is NYB?Do you mean the New Year Bull token?
If I was on your place,I would get rid of such tokens ASAP.I think that tokens like NYB are dying and HODLing such tokens in the long term is basically pointless waste of money.
Back in September, the NYB price was 0.2587 USD,the current price is 0.00141 USD.
I'm not giving any advise here. You do whatever you want with your tokens.

I really agree, it is better to make sure the price of NYB coins that you have, you should create an account in the market and you can directly monitor the price movement there. Because as far as I know, indeed the price of coins will always change, even if it's a little bit. So that it could be that the value in your wallet has not updated the price.

Yes, and I see on the coinmarketcap site, the NYB token is currently listed on three exchanges, namely: Uniswap (V2), Crex24 and Mercatox with the ETH and USDT pairs, and the price has also decreased by around -67.12% so the price is currently at $ 0.026237.

Thanks all for the feedback!!

Yes, it's New Year Bull tokins. I kept them for an 1:1 airdrop of NYBD on the 31st, but I think I did something wrong as I don't seem to have gotten the airdrop :(

The only requirement was to be holding the tokins at Etherscan, but I'm not sure if I was as there was no place to move it too that I could see, but my address is listed there as a holder as below, is there a way to verify?

https://etherscan.io/address/0xe5E7B0E4A5e32ca6abc602B707857c1a8d3FcC55

I'd like to sell them now but not sure of the best place to sell then at, as so many places are reporting different prices...

Thanks!

Now to offload to something else ;)

As said, there's not a lot of volume for it.

The last option you've got is to sell it to someone directly and get into a p2p deal. But that's a difficult thing because it's unlikely that someone's interested in buying that token if everyone's attention is on bitcoin.

You don't have any other option than to wait for other people to have an orders on that exchange mention above .as if someone will buy that tokens in P2P if they also know that this one doesn't have any volume so no way they will be interested  you can offer it but the chance you can sell it to others is less or low value not the same price that you can see in etherscan when you check it.

That's what I'm saying that he'll find it difficult to get a taker of it. A coin that doesn't have a huge volume will make him look that it's a difficult deal.

Coins that don't have much attention, hype, and volume are mostly ignored all of the time.

You need to place your coin on an exchange and trade it with other coins if you want to trade. However, if you hold a coin for a long time, if the price of the coin appreciates, you may also make some profit. There are 2 significant fees that are paid in any exchange. First, the fee for trading and also the fee for withdrawal. The withdrawal fee is fixed most of the time and the coin you are trying to withdraw is charged. From my experience, Binance has the lowest bitcoin withdrawal fee. A trading fee is also charged when you are trading, but this is very small compared to the withdrawal fee. Sometimes, when you plan to pay the fee with an exchange platform utility token, you can get lower trading fees.

If you think that moving from one wallet to the next will make a difference then you are wrong THe first thing you should always do when you join bitcoin is that you need to learn. You should not start your business if you know nothing about it as you  have said. If that's how you plan on proceeding then you are not going to make it in this line of work. You need to go back to the drawing board and learn all that here is to lean and then continue where you left off. You should not be worried about much from there on. Trading with little or no knowledge is a mistake that many people make and they soon regret it.
