Hi guys,

I would like to show you one of the unknown feature that Brave Browser has.

Normally, we do not have a chance to listen to Youtube videos in the background in Google Chrome or Youtube Application. As far as I know, Youtube offer this feature as a premium feature and you need the pay for it.

As well as ad blocking feature, Brave Browser also offers the opportunity to play Youtube Videos in the background. Thanks to this, you can listen to music and surf on the internet at the same time.

By following the instructions below, you can listen to Youtube in the background by activating background video playback on the browser.

1.) In order to open the browser menü, clik the green area shown in the image.

2.)Choose ‘’Settings’’ from the menu.

3.)Activate the background video playback.

Thats all you need to do, even ıf you go to the main menu or switch to another tab while listening a youtube video, the video keeps playing and you can listen it on the the background.

Sounds interesting, actually I don't know this trick which can be very helpful for the music lovers when they can't afford for premium subscription. Generally I don't use brave on my mobile but I will give it a try and let you guys know that is this trick is actually working for me.

A little doubt in my mind, do we need to switch to desktop version before these steps?

AFAIK, there's also the same feature that Google Chrome has. I've seen it in another forum for those phone users. Although I rarely use Brave Browser on my phone because I mostly use browsers on my PC.

But isn't this kind of usage at the same time charges much battery?

Yes, but some prefer to listen to music without the need to always leave YouTube running in the foreground. Sacrificing the extra battery is worth it once you're used to it ;D

We Knew How YouTube consumes battery so Expect that while Using the Apps background .

Lucky for me that I only Uses Laptop or PC when browsing ,and very rare in my gadget so i have no problem listening to Youtube while Browsing.

Battery consumption won't be a problem since we are getting much faster chargers along with smartphones now, for example you can get your battery charged from 0 to 70 in just 30 minutes and to get 100% maybe 45 to 50 minutes will be enough so with that time we can get lot of hours of app usage for sure.

thanks for the tutorial, i did not know about this brave browser feature i will definitely use it, however on chrome you can use the picture in picture extension to get a similar result or some script on tampermonkey

That makes sense, I'm not used to it though but I know people who would like doing that especially while surfing things online.

The same as me, I don't use that much through my phone that's why I've got unlimited access on it through desktop's power.  :)

What a coincidence, I'm charging my phone but through a power bank and yes, it's quicker this time and there's a lesser possible bloated battery if it's charged too much.

Alternatively if you don't fancy opening a browser solely for that, there's a neat app for it called YouTube Vanced. It's free and you can do other stuffs while it plays music or videos in the background.

This is a great feature especially if I'm listening to a tutorial while doing it at the same time in my phone like tweak and upgrading stuff. I suffer to frequently play, pause and minimize loop all the time since youtube doesn't play in the background.

Is there anyone here still using YouTube to listen music? It's more convenient to use Spotify for music streaming purposes only.  ;D

I just did it that time because I was too lazy go up and down stairs getting the charger for my phone. Why it can damage battery of phones? then it shouldn't been used by most people who travels a lot.

Your mobile battery will be designed in a way which gives better efficiency like particular ampere and volts so they will give you the specific charger along with your mobile but power banks are not designed for specific models, it will be just universe so using it as regular charging mode will decrease the life of your battery.

Brave browser has always been my 1st choice with when it comes to browsers and security online.  This was before I started to earn Brave rewards.   

This new trick you have showed us will go towards good use in the future when i want to listen to youtube but also want to use my phone. 

Maybe one day the other browsers will make it possible to do what Brave has done for youtube videos.

I have not know this , So wave has this feature that we can use all together the browser , But does this more expensive in Data ?because Imagine multiple apps are open together and this boost the gadget more than the single using ?

But this is a Good share specially for those Wifi user that only have gadgets to use and no PC/Laptop  .

Of course. It drains extra data in the background since the player continues streaming but nowadays we have loads of data and they're becoming more affordable, not to mention many home Internet plans have little to no data quota.

Just want to update something, I tried this trick on my android which works only while switching the tabs but not while switching the apps so we can't consider this as an alternative to youtube premium.

It works for me. When you press on the home button, slide down on the status bar and you should notice the active (playing) tab.

Unfortunately not working for me, so it may varies depending on the mobile brands I guess or by the android versions? ::)

I'm not too sure either. Mine's running on Android 9 and its unrooted/ stock.

I am using android 10 which maybe the issue? ::) Anyway if it is working for others then its still a valid life hack which may void the need of YouTube premium features. :D

Not to worry, you could check my post above on YouTube Vanced. No root and supports Android 10. Does the job well ;D

Generally these kind of apps won't be listed in official app market, we need to download it from third party website which is risky though.

Nope, it's a third-party app so it comes in an APK file.

It's fine, since it's quite popular as a ad-free YT alternative. As long as you download from the official site which you can lookup on Google.

Even though it is official it can be a potential spyware so turn off the media and camera access whenever you are not using the app. I am also interested to try the app,if possible please leave link to their official website.

Yes, it has been a while that I'm using brave browser and learned also from this forum. Didn't know about this feature. I'll try this also. Anyway, has anyone here already earned a decent amount by using brave?

So that means ? You need to be a Premium Youtube subscriber to use this? or even a regular user ?

anyway I'm not interested in using my gadget in Youtube browsing because of so much ads and thread to my accounts.

I think he meant that YouTube Premium allows you to switch between apps and it would still play in the background.

Meanwhile on Brave, it only works when you switch between tabs but not between apps.

Even if you want to see the videos from Youtube without any annoying ads you need to buy premium subscription, don't you know that?

No matter where you are using free version of youtube ads will be shown at the beginning, random middle and at the end of every videos.
