Title: What is the MAXIMUM time you are willing to wait on crypto-exchange...
Post by: gravityfoil on December 28, 2020, 01:56:57 PM
What is the MAXIMUM time you are willing to wait on crypto-exchange to complete exchanging an asset?

Here are some suggestions, any other answer is OK

1. 1 day or less
2. 3 days
3. 5-7 days
4. 14 days
5. 30 days or more

Thank you kindly for an answer, much appreciated.

EDIT: Since the question seems absurd to some of you, here is an explanation ...

Step 1.
You login to an exchange

Step 2.
You see some coin you want to invest in by selling some other coin

Step 3.
You want to place a buy/sell order but want to get the best rate, so you are ready to do some price predicting and waiting

Step 4.
You either place an order at a desired price or wait.  In either way, you have to wait for the price to reach the point or an order to complete. Lets say you placed an order...

Now, how long are you willing to wait for this order to complete before you click on "cancel" ?  I know it depends on circumstances, but just some rough estimate or a guess will be fine.

Depend on our first decision. When you look at a chart, you will have your own timeframes. It can be 30-minute, 1-hour or 1-day. On different timeframes we have different time to wait for a crypto asset. For me, if it is a small coins (coins which are outside top 20 coins), less than a month is a fair amount of time for me. And if it is a big coin, I can hold them for a year

It is not about the time you close your order, it is about the percentage of profit you can earn

Er.. like 5 seconds at maximum if my internet connection is slow? Assuming you're referring to exchange market orders, then these orders should be next to instant.

If you're referring to a limit order, then it's really going to depend on what my intent is.

I don't exactly what your trying to emphasize to your topic here. Can you elaborate your question, sorry dude for I don't understand
your question, just wanna know what's your really point in here. Because, I've always used different platform exchange and I stayed their
for several months now.

It depends on how urgently I need money at the moment. If it comes to maximizing profit, then I can wait a year or more if there are prerequisites for the growth of the price of any cryptocurrency. As a rule, I buy only those tokens that relate to a project with serious intentions, a plan, a decent team, etc. Therefore, such tokens sooner or later increase sharply in price. If you invest in meaningless tokens, then you can wait all your life, and they will only fall more and more in price.

If the question would be something like that '' what is the maximum time we are waiting for withdrawing fund from an exchange'' that will be good IMO. The question is unclear to me to answer really. And I can not understand what is the motive behind asking this question. OP actually what you want to discover by this survey?

Generally, people need a couple of minutes to log in, choosing pairs, filling the sell/buy area with correct units, and complete the trade. So we can not expect 1 day or something like will need to make a trade.

For processing the buy or sell confirmation in exchange it should only takes minutes or less, but if about withdrawal process I hope it will process sooner probably less than hour. If the process takes too long then then the support is not responding I will not do more transactions on that exchange. As long as the exchange have good support and is able to answer my queries right it can be acceptable if they are late sometimes but it should not be always.

Less than 10 minutes. If there's no taker and the price seems to go the opposite, I wouldn't wait for that long for that trade to execute. I'm not going to wait for long if I had to trade it for bitcoin or needed to cash out. I'll sell with the highest price that's on order or would buy with the lowest order or possibly the most recent one just to get it done quickly. That's the amount of time I'm willing to wait, it should be done within the quickest time ever.

I am creating a new exchange that uses a completely new approach to trading, and need to know what is considered a normal (maximum) waiting time. This survey is supposed help me to simply have some idea rather than an exact number. So far 5-7 days sounds like something that is "normal". Unfortunately, it cannot be the quickest time, simply because it can't work that way... yet I don't want people to lose interest in trading.

When you go to the bakery to buy some bread, you need it in less than a day or next week? What would you think if you had to wait 10 days to get your bread? You'd say "I'll go to a different bakery where I'll get it faster" and you'd be right to do it.

It's exactly the same with a trading platform, if I'm not able to receive my asset within the hour I'll go somewhere else. After all, there are many other exchanges on the web. If I want to buy something right now it's because I need it now, not a week later.
I would not be encouraged to use such an exchange platform, to be honest.

@martina14

It is simple to understand it, can't make it more simple. The question is how long you would be ready to wait to receive your coins during an exchange process.

Thats actually depend on your target price the higher your target price the longer you need to wait before you can sell it.

Those 30 days or more is those holders that looking for high earning for what he bought and waiting for the right time even it takes longer. For short traders you can do it daily up to one week if you want a good result in your trading as long you know you buy it cheaper.

That means you wanted to know actually how much time we take to complete successful trade with profit/our guessing price reach. Right?

In this case it will be divided with 3 facts
1. Daily trader 1 minutes to 1 day normal
2. For short term 1 day to 5 days is normal IMO
2. Long term is 10-15-30 days or even couple of months. (But long term trader most of the case don't keep a open order AFAIK)

Probably depends on how I read the chart. There are times buying immediately are much better but still depends on the movement of the market you don't want to buy on the peak right?

For me, I don't like to wait up to a day. The coin I placed bid on might not get the the bidding price I placed anymore. So mostly. I wait for coins to get to the lowest price I expect it to reach and I use market price.

I expect Op to put a shorter time like in minutes. I wonder who would like to wait a day for an order to be taken for example. You can only wish that if perhaps you made a mistake in your transaction then you can be glad if it has taken long to load and you can easily cancel  :o. I like a lesser minutes if not instant anyway  ;D

When asked like that, then personally I often use 3 day intervals when making exchanges. according to what I marked. There is a change in schedule if you see the market situation is experiencing a large trading volume at a certain time so that the distance is used once an hour, based on the analysis on the chart. this regardless of what I saw when I opened the exchange.

It would introduce a bias.  A lot of people said immediately or no trade (a null hypothesis), and that is what I wanted to hear too. This means that I need to adjust the whole concept to allow the immediate (spot) trading to happen. Unfortunately, I cannot expose how it will be different... not yet at least. However, I am glad that many people are here to offer a hand and not criticize my question. - Thanks!

That is my way of thinking too. However, this is a different kind of a bakery (more like a factory) where you'd say:"I want you to bake these many breads for your next shipping". What I asked is how frequent should be the shipping. For the immediate trade, you'd go to a different bakery that doesn't do any shipping but handles the product immediately. But yes, you are 100% right. Why not buy the freshly-baked bread immediately?  After all, it has the best taste and the smell in the world ;D  The authenticity of the bakery, the ambience, as well as the way of doing things would be a bonus I cannot afford to miss.

Not your keys, not your coins and on exchanges, you don't hold your keys. If you are able to download, install a wallet for your coin, you should store your coin in a wallet on your devices. When you see price to sell your coins on market, make deposit, sell them and withdraw funds immediately when your sell order is filled completely.

Store your coins on exchanges is always bad to worst. It is worst if you store your coins on shit exchanges that I believe many newbies do when they want to sell shitcoins on shit exchanges.

Now, how long are you willing to wait for this order to complete before you click on "cancel" ?  I know it depends on circumstances, but just some rough estimate or a guess will be fine.
It will depend on which exchange you have been used, most likely.

Probably choosing a crypto exchange that has a high volume will have the fastest execution of orders you have(buy and sell) and not frustrating of waiting when it will be executed.  Using CEX will most likely have a fast trading volume than the DEX, this trading volume will indicate how many cryptos or Bitcoin for example that being sold in a specific exchange and those exchanges will found on the CMC ranking exchange (https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/).  The higher volume means the fastest execution of orders.

Depends on my mood and it depends on my patience because not all plans would really be followed because there are lots of instances on where my decision will
really be changed up and in answering on how long i would really be willing to wait for my orders to get filled then most likely 24 hours in maximum and
2 hours at least on minimum and also i dont really set out too huge margins in the price into my orders because im always fan of getting profits
even on minimal as possible.

I am not the kind of person who sets the prices too far from the current trading market price, maximum I waited overnight on a shit exchange for my trade to be completed due to low trading volume but apart from that I would always like to sell the cryptos on the exchange to the current selling price but before I am sending my cryptos to an exchange I will wait for the desired price to reach my expectations.

This is also my thought. Why should I deposit my funds in the exchange without looking at the current exchange rate. If the price of my coin goes to the price of my choice then I will deposit my coin in the exchange and withdraw funds after instant sell.

Because I don't think it's safe to hold funds on the exchange.

For me, when I do trade in the exchange platform then bought a coin/altcoins, for what I did was to wait whether the right time
to sell or buy, as long as I think it will give me a profit for every week I will wait on it. Actually, sometimes it became 2 or more
every week and this was already proven and tested to my activity, honestly speaking.

Many factors determine how long I wait for an order to complete, usually if the coins have a high volume and are in the top 20 cryptos
I can wait up to a year. But for low volume coins, I might only wait about a week. If nothing changes or the price decreases, I will cut loss.
Because low volume coins are very risky for scams, but most importantly in trading always use TP and SL. So when the price reaches
the target it is immediately sold and when the coin price drops suddenly the capital we have will be protected.

It is depend on the exchange and the price I've set my orders . for short trade its only takes 1-3 days of waiting but for longer trade with target price then it can be 1week up to months of waiting before selling. Once I set the orders I only revisit the exchange for checking  live market price. Once I saw that it need longer time then I will cancel my orders and sold it in the market price.it only happens when I need to trade another crypto currency.

Any exchange should be instant. Maximum time anybody should wait is maybe 5 seconds to execute a trade, 24 hours to process deposit/withdrawal. The only things that can take longer are forks, account recovery, KYC and othere "management" issues.

If your requests are taking longer and the exchange has not notified you before about upcoming maintenance, it's probably a scam. Don't hold money on exchanges, especially small ones that need time to process deposits and withdrawals.

I am willing to wait for let us just say the maximum to be 3 days I think because it feels so disturbing and uncomfortable on my part to wait for too long but still that is just for the moment that I am on urgent so that would be my maximum limit for waiting. But if I am not on a real hurry and the confirmation of order delay is reasonable, I am just willing to wait for how long since it will still be confirmed no matter what. So let us just say the number of days I can wait depends on the urgency or mood I have or the possibility that I really badly wanted for that order to get confirmed and would try to get into another exchange. But that will just rarely to happen since my patience is into an absolute level and I take on having calm decision with regards to that.

Well, in trading it should be a matter of minutes or it is considered as an hour but if beyond that, I don't know if you will wait too long before your order will be executed. A high trading volume exchange must have a fast trading execution, you will never wait too long when your order will be made to be done if there are too many traders out there who use the same exchange. Regarding the withdrawal, perhaps it should be 1-2 days only or perhaps it will appreciatable if just a matter of day of waiting before it will be confirmed.
