Title: Bitcoin Youtube Scam?
Post by: jerry0 on December 28, 2020, 10:25:28 PM
So when im watching some bitcoin videos on youtube... doesn't matter what it is... could be about bitcoin or cnbc talking about bitcoin, i see in the comments section, people making comments like

btc is the future

i made a ton of money investing in btc with so and so person

then you see someone post someones whatsapp or phone number and say contact this person if you want to make money

telegram

how btc is better than stocks

First off, all these comments are from people or are they bots?  I notice even on twitter when it comes to politics, you see these accounts post comments where it sounds like a bot... then you see other users who post the same exact thing.

I assume the scam here is you then contact that persons whatsapp or phone or telegram, then they ask you for money... then you get scammed?

it's scam and that message was coming from the scammers. there are so many bots on twitter and that's an old trick that being used by the scammers.
Your last point seems true if the scammers will get in touch with you directly through your contact.

The scammers will be spamming the same messages anywhere.

They are everywhere.m its not only Youtube. The reason why you see so many comment that look alike is for innocent people to fall quickly for it. Those comments are coming from the same person. Never fall for any of it.

Long story short yes, they're scams. Low effort ones even. They're just trying to incite the greed from people, mostly newbies, that came upon those BTC videos and are being blinded by greed. They may come from both bots or people, no sense in identifying where it came from, just ignore and report. You can even put out a warning to others, just don't say straight out that it's a scam, just tell them it's a possible scam. Most people have quite the pride, after all, so telling it to them straight up may just incur a riot or something.

I assume the scam here is you then contact that persons whatsapp or phone or telegram, then they ask you for money... then you get scammed?
Basically yes. It's like them giving out the possibility of tips to earn money, but they ask you for money first before giving out the strategy. It's pretty simple, yet some people still fall for it.

Ive also seen this kind of video YouTube. They use the video of the CEO of tesla talking but not really about their scheme. They attached different link saying you can double your money when transfering to a certain BTC address. The comment section also is flooded with bots wanting you to really invest. Lets beware of this scam, since Bitcoin price is doing a bull run, scammers are going along with this hype.

From all who replied they said yes and same as me BUT FOR ME....

When it comes to things like this you can actually feel it or have a guess when you see it the third option is you click on that profiles it see if she or he is a bot from the profile itself like looking at there subscribe accounts than you will 100% distinguished that it is fake and a bot.

If you saw that it is subscribed to many accounts still there is a chance that it is a scam or they are users who get paid to comment on the video, still for safety purposes if you feel or look at it that is a scam do not respond. Still at the end, the rest is up to you to make the decision.

the most user who posts click here or ask me if you want to earn money are in chances of 50% legit and scam but from my point of view when it is related to cryptocurrency 80% chances is a big scam for as you may know many do make a fake project related to bitcoin or altcoin.

That's obviously a scam no doubt about it and not just on youtube but also on facebook, they are commenting on popular pages that they "earn bitcoin and thanks to" scheme scripted talks. They spamming all social medias and worst they are also copying project facebook pages to fool supporters and new comers.

And that's called as paid stunts! These are not bot really, I don't think they have implemented any such code so as to have bots over youtube comment section (?)

Either they are paid out people or more or less they themselves trying to get referrals from such platforms. They will try to attract noobs through this act and honestly noobs to follow such people periodically and get scammed. They don't just do this over the youtube but also over other social platforms like telegram, twitter and discord channels.

Literally such kind of people beg for it over such platform and screw everyone.

This is not all bitcoin related, if you visit any money related content you will see pretty much similar scams happen there too. As long as there are gullible people who are too greedy to use their brain, there will also be a lot of scammers taking advantage.
This is one of the reasons why Youtube keeps purging a lot of cryptocurrency related content from their platform as they are the breeding ground of scams from the video itself to the creator and the comments.

I never bother to read all of those comments because I don't think that they are honest people who give good reviews to that channel. I prefer to watch the next videos to find what I want without thinking back to that video. You will see many other videos like that, and if you are not careful, you can get scam by them. The Youtube channel can pay some people to give the best comment they can and rate the channel, so many people will follow their instructions. When they give offers that look not make sense, you should leave it as soon as possible before you get in their trap. That is not just happening on the Youtube channel, but it also happens on other social media which they can get many new targets.

Spamming Youtube comments with a bot is the laziest scam of all scams.
I guess that this scam still works, since the scammers keep doing it.Perhaps Youtube will develop an algorithm that will track and delete all those bot comments saying "This guy is legit,he helped me make a lot of money.Check his Telegram,Instagram,Whatsapp, bla bla" I'm sure that Youtube has the capability to fight spam and scams on their platform, but for some reason, they simply don't care.
I wonder what kind of people would be so naive to trust this BS?

The messages are coming from a real person in Youtube comment sections, the bot there is much trickier because they mimic the responses of real people. The best that you can do about these bots and scammers is ignoring them as this will ensure that you will not get baited into their scheme and them ending up catching no gullible people to scam.

Personally, not all visible video on Youtube about Bitcoin is a scam, I mean, we need to take care to select, my opinion, right here it seems real has a scammer which is manipulated to those people that have a strong influence inside the web, but the fact, it is controlled by the property of moderator to delete all unknown programs towards to secure anytime to prevent damage their own license. Because for me I also know a lot thru videos and it is also suitable to search to all website about Bitcoin which is my habit to learn something.

Could it be any more obvious?

They're certainly not trying that hard by spamming every comment section on YouTube to help you make money, comments like that at the very best are shilling their referral links or at the worst are a link to a phishing website which will steal sensitive information or it's just a link to some scam website which will eventually run away with your money if not at first.

Just ignore any kind of comment that includes advertisements to a different YouTube channel or some random website.

usually it's happened by their set up and campaign on ads of youtube via google ads. It's more creepy, those hacker possible to control(hacking ) account verified or has lots of subscribe.

This kind of posts comments with threads, messages, feedbacks, or referrals should be ignored when you are watching youtube or even reading through social media posts. Most scammers are roaming around this platform, victimizing newbies who have no idea about cryptocurrency and how scam schemes work in crypto.

legit . ive been checking money making vids , pages , groups before and what the op saw in the coments on video that he watch are also all there but they dont use the name bitcoin because there are still no bitcoin that time , they use the name of the payment method that is been in the topic .

on our time now, its the crypto and btc are now popular and they started using this names .

what only pisses me is that they destroy the name of bitcoin and the popular wallet that im also using because they also include it as proof

Not uncommon as I see this already on different social media platforms already. It isn't only been seen on Youtube but also in Facebook and Twitter.

If you are a newbie then you will easily fell into this kind of traps. If you are here for quite some time then you know already that this is a common way of scamming investors. There is nothing we can do about it and after all, investors will not learn if they will not experience it the hard way :D. I've seen most of this type of comments on Youtube since I'm spending most of my time there and I just simply ignore them.

Even on facebook, they are there. I think they're bots and also there are people who uses those accounts just to look for people that they can scam.

Yes. That's the process, they want you to contact them and they'll tell you the scam on how they've made money out of bitcoin or any source that will make you feel the greed. But as long as you don't contact them or click any link that they attach, you're good.

Those people who will tell you something to earn money with only little effort to do then for sure it is a scam, there is no legit website that will give you profit for only little effort. besides, it is hard to believe people in telegram because many users there are fake and will going to scam you. I already encounter many things like that using telegram, thankfully, I am now really familiar with that kind of tricks from scammers because I already got scammed once so it makes me more careful than before.

They are always scam. They even now buy accounts with verification tag to look more legit, which newbies could easily fall for. Someone once told me that no one would have time to share a wealth secret that works for him or her. They will rather have it to them self rather than share so that they can become more rich. People that are legit don't have time to go around spamming like crazy.

They always propose an easy scheme for a big profit. All you need to do is to send some money to the unknown BTC-wallet and follow a guide you will receive later. I agree with the thought the main target of such scammers is the newbies with a lack of experience in the crypto industry. We should be more careful about such offers.

Surely they are bots, bots are widely used in videos promoting anything on youtube right now. Specially if the profile seems suspicious or someone doesn't have a profile picture. They are doing that in order to convince someone that might be watching the video to invest in bitcoins with them and eventually like what you are thinking scamming them in the end. Most likely people who do this will invite people to some HYIP or pyramid scheme that bitcoin is being used.

That's already common in YouTube and Twitter as well, and they are trying to get attention so that they can scam others. You will usually see this kind of comment especially in videos for beginners like teaching about the basics of bitcoin and crypto. It's easy for scammers to attract attention from beginners who still lack knowledge that's why it's better to ignore those comments and report them.

Not only in youtube you can also find same comments in other social media accounts encouraging other people to direct message them and find a new victim. Usually they are showing fake proofs that they are earning ended up that's they are urging new people to invest their money to them.

Youtube comments are also full of lies telling they earn so much in bitcoin giving out contact numbers for newbies become victim. Although we can definitely earn legit here but the thing is, newbies aren't aware how it works.

I guess you already figure it out  :), the thing is, when you see odd comment like that which doesn't sound real it is obviously a scam, but the sad thing is people are still getting scammed so easily, just few days ago a guy got scammed on telegram of 0.2 btc - well according to him-  he send this amount to a scammer disguise as an admin of the group in the hope of buying the project presale token, but unfortunately for him he send his money to a scammer without even knowing, it was very sad thing, there are many scammers both on you tube and telegram, people should be careful.

Now that btc price has risen so high you will see all sort of people trying to sell one idea or the other, even on twitter you can come across such comment, they set them as trap for their prey, it is better to avoid them and not to click on any link they may provide, even in telegram i usually receive such pm post of some unknown link and i will quickly block and report them.

Due to lack of knowledge and with extreme mix of greed then most noobs would definitely fall into this crap common scam. There are lots of them

who had been scattered not only in YT but also in other social medias as well. They are rampant on existence and still continuing at this very moment.
I do even see that they are covering up sudden bitcoins price peak and been used to hype up those people who dont have much knowledge about it.
Doubling your investment is the common scenario on here. People will learn if they do commit mistakes. It should be avoided but most cases its already been done.

^^ To be fair, Youtube brings down scam video faster than let's say Google in their ads or in their play store. I myself has reported couple of youtube scams and in less than 24 hours it went offline.

Nevertheless, they should have some find of filter mechanism to detect those scams video plowing on their platform so that no one can fall for it and make this scammers think twice before using Youtube as means to promote scams.

I don't understand why youtube doesn't take down those scammer advertisements., I myself reported a few of them, lots of people getting scam by those advertising. It seems so real but nobody will give you free money in this world. Only new people and noobs are getting scam. Never give your crypto to someone to make it double, it's stupid.
Once such a video is reported as scam YouTube will definitely take down the video this is not the first time such a video is surfacing as reported by the OP however it quite unfortunate that some damages must have done before those videos are taken down perhaps some newbies must have fell for the scam a lot of noobs who must taught it is real, to make matter worst they might even reveal some fake profits earned in a bid to decieving and convincing them to send some cryptos.

There a lot of scams who are circulating in the internet using famous apps, such as whatsapp, telegram, youtube, twitter and etc.

Youtube is really a much more reliable to them because there are a lot of people who are using this platform to look for something profitable besides Google.

Also, scammers know that most of the newbies are relying on youtube to learn more about bitcoin and these scammers are seizing the opportunity to scam a lot of investors.

I think it is possible that they are from a bot or if they are from people, I am sure, this message came from a group of people that are conspiring to entice readers in joining them.  I have seen this kind of strategy on Facebook and youtube.  They have templates of what they need to say with pictures and contact numbers.   I bet this group of people is a member of a Ponzi company and wanted to recruit unsuspecting investors.

I assume the scam here is you then contact that persons whatsapp or phone or telegram, then they ask you for money... then you get scammed?

Or they will invite you to invest in a ponzi company promising a great returns.

If you are pertaining to content creators that promote or talk about Bitcoin on their YouTube videos, they are promoting some websites and things that they are told to do but its still our choice to follow or do what they are talking about. Its true that they are true supporters of Bitcoin since they really created content regarding Cryptocurrencies and sharing their knowledge is good since it would be an important information to new users within the Cryptocurrency Industry.

The number of videos YouTube has taken down that were tied to scams has dropped dramatically this year. A YouTube spokesperson attributed that decline to factors that include its evolving enforcement practices. According to YouTube's enforcement page, the site has been relying more heavily on technology to police its platform this year, in part because of staffing issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
