Obviously this depends on where you are located.  Such as if you live in an expensive place in the US or Canada, then its a lot more than in other countries.  Also if you are young, middle age or older.



I always felt the number had to been minimum 10 if you asked me this years ago.  But now with news articles and videos saying btc true value is somewhere in the 300-400k range... well that 10 btc number certainly is a bit high.  I guess the number probably is minimum 5?  Then again you hear old videos where people say... just make sure you have just 1 bitcoin...as that is enough.  Thus if it goes to 1 million dollars... well that is a lot of money.  Even after taxes, that is a lot.   But when people say its half a million or a million, well then that number could drop to say 2 or even 3.



And i see many people on this forum talk about not having 1 btc and its their goal to get 1 btc.  Obviously back then, it was much easier with the low prices.  But now... anyone who wants 1 btc need to spend 25k... thats a ton of money for most people and most people don't even have that in their savings.  But for someone who is from the West... thus in the US or Canada... what number would you say that should be?  Of course it could be in a wealthy country in say Asia, Europe or Australia.  But you get my point.  I got to assume if you talking about 10 years down the road or more... it has to be minimum 5?  Or minimum 10?  Or is 10 a bit too high?

From those countries, more than 10 would be the ideal for them. The more bitcoin's that they hold and accumulate overtime, the better and more secure future that they have. But what if after 10 years bitcoin's price got into half to a million dollars?

Then obtaining 1 bitcoin as always been suggested would be good. But if you can acquire as much as you can for retirement, do yourself a favor.

Some prominent people in bitcoin space says that owning at least 0.2 or 0.3 amount of bitcoin is enough in order to become one of the 1% of population who is surefire to become rich just by owning a fraction of bitcoin, some even says you need to have more than 15 BTC or even more.

However, I think it would be impractical to limit yourself from those numbers and stop accumulating. These are just statistics to evenly spread the wealth based on supply and the current amount of BTC that is circulating. I personally do not have a speficific number in mind since I aim for long term accumulatation even if it means selling a small amount for my needs -- steady but slow will still suffice.

Just accumulate as much as possible without giving yourself a limit. That's the goal to secure yourself.

That's really depend on many factors like you said above, some peoples enjoyed with his life if he and his family is healthy, peaceful and happily even though they're not rich person. At least they have money to buy food, simple house and simple live. But don't be hypocritical, all peoples will always want become rich instead of poor... since money can make life more easier.

In third world countries 1 BTC is enough to able survive for 10-15 years (depending on how he use the money too), for me I only need 2-3 BTC to secure my future.

No problem at all, even though the price is high right now... Bitcoin is still bullish and has strong resistance, it will reach $30.000 end this month or next month.

That's definitely a pretty hard decision to tell because you will never know who you will be like and what happenings you can encounter in the future. Personally, I would want more BTC just to feel that I am secured that I wouldn't have to worry about any negative thing that could happen in my life. Imagine being able to pay hospital bills with BTC that you have earned for the past few years. That's a great blessing. I would've hoped to have more to be secure and to be able to help more people with having BTC.

With a large sum of money, it's definitely an opportunity to help others who need it more than me.

It all depends upon the price of the bitcoin. Based on the present market price even a single bitcoin will fulfill lifetime expenses of a man in a third world country. Another thing, with one bitcoin an user can lead his entire life, but the god's grace is a must. The life should not get accompanied by body illness, because it is only thing that makes people to spend by need whereas majority do unwanted spending.

Aiming for a certain amount of bitcoin to secure the future is a bit difficult especially for people who have little capital for it, just working hard or just joining a bounty campaign. I think even you have small amount of bitcoin if you are already happy and satisfied to your life and can eat three times a day is, enough. We do not know our future even if we set a plan for it, sometimes it does not turn out to be what we planned.

But on the other hand, it is not bad to dream and strive to reach it. So, I think having even 0.5 to 1 BTC is enough for me to start putting up a business for the future of my family.

1 BTC good for 10 to 15 years? Current price, or 7 digits? I believe $27,000 will not last for anyone, in any country for 10 - 15 years. I would prefer to use that to re-invest, start a small business, or take a short course.

In my country, my age, and the current price of bitcoin. I think around $700k worth of bitcoin is enough for a modest retirement in the country side. I am not that materialistic so I think I can live off the good life if it comes to that. If the scenario is played with a child I think around $2m worth is the safest point because there will be more people that might need emergency unlike living alone or without a kid. Honestly, if that were ever the case that I reached my lowest estimate goal I would be grateful.

That half a million-dollar amount of bitcoin would make many of us so happy. If that's the case, then having 1 btc is more than enough especially when converted to our currency. But considering the current situation having 10 I guess would make my life secure and my future family. I'm still on my way to reaching 1 btc but those little I have allows me to survive every day. Not in a rush tho.

There is something i know from personal observation about life, that is; Your needs or wants grows with you. Each advancement or increase in pay cheque comes with a relative increase in your luxury lifestyle and to give your family the best your resources can afford should you have a family always kicks in. So, having your future secured depends on your spending habit rather than how much BTC your able to acquire. Money makes more money so, if you acquire, spend and don't invest, you'll still find yourself struggling in future. So, its never always enough until your gone.

I completely agree. Our desires always have no limit. It does not depend on age but depends on temperament. Someone is happy with one bitcoin, while others need numbers with two or three zeros.
The more a person's life becomes secure, the more his appetites increase. Sometimes we are indignant, why do the rich need millions, because such money cannot be spent in a lifetime? I think many will agree that first, everyone wants to feel stability in the future, they want stability for their family, children, grandchildren.
Therefore, everything is obvious here. Having one bitcoin, a person will aim for two, and so on.

Impossible to answer your question, because Bitcoins price is not stable. It might be $26k, or $100k in ten years. Or it might be $300 in two months. So having, for example, 100 BTC might be or not be enough to secure future. Also I cant do plans for such a long period. I can plan my life for 5-10 years (buy flat, build house, start own business), but I dont know what I will be interested in 20 years and how much money I will need that days. And like people say here "it is never enough". Person will always find what do buy and how to spend any amount he has, and he will always desire more.

It is very hard to provide a definite number or answer to this question because we can never tell how much Bitcoin would grow in the future. It is easier to respond with a certain number or range if there is a fixed price we attach to Bitcoin, say, $100,000.

If Bitcoin reaches $100,000, then I guess around 5BTC would be enough for me to secure my entire future. I still have a long life ahead of me and I cannot even estimate how much would I be spending on all kinds of stuff in the future. But with 5BTC I am pretty sure I won't be reaching old age penniless.

To my way of thinking, it is pointless to think of a particular amount you need to have to secure your future. In essence, we don't need bitcoins, we need things we can buy with our money. The more money we have, the more money we spend on things we probably don't even need. We start buying more expensive and elite food, cars, houses. Some people start buying more alcohol, drugs, other harmful things thus reducing the quality of life. Buying all these unnecessary and dangerous things you are not going to secure your future, you will rather make it less bright.

1 Bitcoin is worth more than a Million in some countries ,meaning that 10 bitcoin considerably 10 million or more.

if you mean securing your Future is a None income living in which you will only depend on your Funds on hand ,then i guess difficult to asses, You may Die early so the amount is lower ,but you can live Long and may suffer Sickness long time and that means too much spending .

For me securing future means stablishing Business that will accompany our Life through out ,So even 3 or 4 Bitcoin is more than enough ,I will stablish small business while some part will be invested in crypto for long term ,So if ever that time comes my business comes to end at least i still have funds in my crypto wallet.

err for the sake of answering your question, an amount of 1BTC itself is more than enough if you consider it being spent for your entire lifetime. Provided that you only spend it on actually making more money and living your life quite normally. Now if you were to consider it without thinking of your future, then 0.3-0.5 BTC is more than enough imo. Well, trying to calculate it this way limits the possibilities, so other than curiosity, I don't think there's any purpose in trying to do so. A single BTC right now costs around $27, $28k right? I think it's actually more than enough for one to live off of it for the rest of their lives, if the price were to continue to grow, then all the more reason that it's enough.

I think 10 would be enough. If you will use that amount to establish your own business then that would really enough. Owning 10 was already expensive in other counties but that was too high to imagine for everyone that is why they only dreaming of having a goal of 1. I would say that 1 is already enough though considering that Bitcoin's price grows over time. However, as the times passing by expenses also increase so better not to be contented with what you have and strive for more.

It's an entire retirement fund for most of us and if you have ever saved a lot including establishing business for continuous source of income, that would make your life live well.

Just accumulate an entire 1 whole bitcoin if you can and if you can do more and can continue the accumulation, much better.

this totally depend on individual capability and what type of future plans they have for themselves, if your plans aren't too extravagant then 1 btc is not a bad idea but if you can afford more then go for it, between not everyone can afford 1 btc.

1 BTC sounds like a good amount, but at current levels not many of the new users would be able to afford that many. Especially for those in the developed nations, this sounds like 10 times their average annual salary. But in most of the developing nations, the cost of living is also low. So we can argue that they don't need as much savings, as say someone who is residing in the United States or the European Union.

I do agree with it but yes its a big factor to consider of where place or country you're living right now. But the truth behind the lives of people today was as long as the world keeps innovating and keep on developing and so do the cost of living increases. Maybe the value of 1 bitcoin were good to a single status man but knowing that you have a family to support, pay bills, children to sent to a school this wasn't good enough to secure your future.

There is probably no definitive answer to this question. It's entirely something that depends on Bitcoin's price. Besides, it should be noted that blending the future with a store of value cannot guarantee anything. The economic and political situation of the country should also be considered overtime. While in some countries, it is possible to live a full life with a certain amount of savings, but you may even have difficulties in meeting your basic needs in another country with the same amount.

That is something hard to tell, and I can't even think of a specific amount of bitcoin because we are not sure about its value in the next decade. And aside from that, we can't really tell how much we will need to secure our future since things are changing so fast. Right now we can say that probably around half a million-dollar is enough but we never know how much things will change while we're moving forward, living expenses may become more expensive as we adapt to technology and such.

couldn't agree more, the future is uncertain so is the price of btc in future, it could be higher or even lower than what we expected, although i don't think it is bad to blend the future with a store of value (or should i say assets) provided that store of value is something that has a stable price, and more importantly the country of residence also plays an important role, the amount that one can consider decent enough for future plans in third world countries may appear to be too little in developed countries, the list goes on,
so yeah, there is not definitive answer to this type of question.

In my opinion, owning bitcoin does not guarantee happiness. 

Also keep in mind that Bitcoin is a very specific financial asset.  The Bitcoin blockchain is transparent.  Bitcoin doesn't need intermediaries.  However, blockchain does not guarantee you protection against intruders. 

Money and wealth are very complex entities. 

Living in the 21st century and not having bitcoins is stupid.  However, hoarding bitcoin and believing that it is the key to happiness and prosperity is also shortsighted.

As much as my hand and leg can carry  ;D, if i can afford it i would hold 1% of total circulation (of course this is only in my imagination) and i will build a castle in my country and leave like a king - happily ever after, lol! sounds good but not going to happen,

Your OP falls into that insubstantial void of the reality of life for some people who limit their opportunities based on the chance for bitcoin to make them millionaires. Bitcoin is not different in investment value to any other existing asset in the fiat world, the great difference with any other asset that exists is that in itself it has the power to change a retrograde economic structure with a very important social asset and that can occur with any value that you put in Fiat currency.

Yes, I agree it depends on where you are located. Living in Asian countries is quite cheaper than in European countries but honestly speaking at the moment its very hard to buy even 1 bitcoin at the current price. As an Indian, I believe if I would have 5 Btc my future will be very secured.

That is a difficult question because there are many variables, as you say the place where you live is one, and your age is another, after all you are not going to need the same amount of bitcoin if you are 20 than if you are 50, another factor is your lifestyle, there are many people that want to live a very high lifestyle and buy lambos and stuff like that and for that you need a lot of bitcoins but if you are content with having a middle class kind of life then your need for bitcoin goes down considerably and the final factor is how long will you hold, if you are willing to hold your coins for a decade I have no doubts that you could sell for 100k+ which reduces your need for exorbitant amounts of bitcoin.

With all of that in mind I will probably need only 5 BTC and I will use some of it to invest in stuff that generates cash and then keep the rest for eternity.

LOL.. do you have 10 BTC in your wallet? I would assume less than 0.1% of the Bitcointalk users will be having more than 10 BTC with them. Even most of the earliest users have sold their coin holdings many years ago. Only a minority has held on to them. And with institutional investors mopping up most of the available supply, the number of coins held by individual investors has undergone a decline.

True, it depends on the location really. In India holding one bitcoin is equal to have 7 figures salary of couple months. That too for the person who has experience of more than 10 years.

Based on this you guys can predict how big this price tag is for us. If an Indian hold one BTC today and tomorrow the price increase3 times the current rate then he would be settled for his whole life along with the family. Lolz.  :P :P

I am sure this is far better for the countries which has currencies valued below INR. Truly, bitcoin value is different for different countries and the inflation changes region wise.

It depends on how well the funds would be manage.
I would say me and my family could live comfortably with 3-5 BTC at the current price if we already have a good house to grow old with.

if you have bought a lot of bitcoins when the price of Bitcoin is still at $ 1000- $ 3000, or to be precise in 2015 to 2016,
I am sure your future is guaranteed, even if you buy 10 Bitcoin for $ 10000 if the price is $ 1000,
but if you buy at that price $ 28k of course the risk to your future will also be threatened, for me assets are not always about Bitcoin,

@Coinsfera was right, owning even 25% of a whole bitcoin is enough to secure one's future given the condition that bitcoin will pump more in the future and the price will skyrocket to its utmost limit. But like others said the more the merrier right? So as long as the bitcoins price is still at a dip we should strive to stack up more bitcoin.

The inflation rate will rise over the years so provably that 3 -5 BTC is not enough for long term if you just rely on it for a living so maybe work hard and try to earn and aim 30 BTC above since for that you can buy a decent house as well you can build multiple business while you have BTC left on your wallet to stake for future bitcoin growth, Its a double source if bitcoin will success you will get more profit also with your business created.

The amount of bitcoin you need to secure your future like you said isn’t a predictable statement because the future is unpredictable so as the price and regulations of bitcoin as a Cryptocurrency. There lots of environmental factors that can influence the future and change its assumed state. Man is diverse and can change to anything else in time of lifestyle which includes Accommodation, cars, wears. Jewelry etc so with the consciousness it’s better to save as more bitcoin as possible because the further isn’t predictable.

Reaching 1 bitcoin will be the closest target bitcoin amount that we want to get, although to get that 1 bitcoin, we need to try so hard to make every satoshi in many ways. And if we already have 1 bitcoin, we will increase our target to have bitcoin such as 5 bitcoin, 10 bitcoin, or more. We will not stop making more bitcoin because I am sure we will make it happens.

I want to make more than just 10 bitcoin or more. The more bitcoin I have, the more secure my future, especially if the bitcoin price can increase and jump to the highest price. No matter how long I will need to have that bitcoin, I will keep trying until I can have so many bitcoins in the future.

No one can be certified with what he has, referring to amount or how much btc human can have and be comfortable, the answer is indefinite btc, because even though we have ten thousands btc I don't really think that human will be contented with it, what really matters is satisfaction in terms of needs, from my perspective and observation, future can't be predicted related to our needs, because the availability of what we have at early stage does not determine our future, what matters is the ability to control what we have.

If we are to answer this question during the beginning of bitcoin, we'll say that we would need millions of bitcoin to secure our future. In our country, if you gained at least ONE bitcoin, you can already live freely and get the personal necessity that you need. You can also even create your own business if you want to and there will be no one stopping you. I already know users within our country that only secured at least 0.5btc and managed to create their own house which is pretty cool. That is why I also hope to at least get or earn bitcoins as much as possible because it will surely be a great help for me in the future specially if bitcoin grew significantly in the future.

Well, I think 1 or 2 if I would just hold it and wait for X years to let it grow but if you are referring to this now, as in now. Well, it all depends where you live because just like what you've said, first world countries might need more Bitcoin compared to the third world countries. And I don't think having much Bitcoin or money does mean securing your future because, you will never know what would happen to us in the future. I would say, be always prepared and expect the unexpected.

It depends in my opinion not very much in what country person lives, but on his or her demands or expectations from life. On his goals. Someone needs Bitcoins for making level of life higher - for buying flat, or just for food, another person wants to increase his profit or make own business. For me personally it would be great to have got 5 -7 Bitcoins)

This do really depends on where you do live considering that fiat value and lifestyle status will really be different into each places.
Some do say that 10BTC would already be enough on securing their future but for some would be asking out 100's or thousands of btc.
In my part then i would say that  700-1000 would be enough to secure my future yet i can be having a savings and tending
to built lots of investment for future passive income and leveraging.

Thats too much even if you do live in 1st world countries. $20M  would really be enough or too much already for most people but if you are really planning to have some lavish or extravagant life then this amount would

Even those top Nigerian polithieftians are likely not to have that type of cash stolen from the government. That's >$1,425,000, then multiply it with the naira. That's very huge. Well, I think any discerning and business oriented person in my country will secure their future with 3-5btc thrown at them at the current level. For me, that's all I need.

You're absolutely right, but not just for myself alone, if this be realizable then my first generation won't beg the government to survive. You might look at this 50BTC big for an individual but probably not for my first generation, the 2-3BTC won't be of help in anyway to my first generation. Those polithieftians don't usually stole for themselves but both for their generations unborn, maybe after this post God will make this 50BTC deposit into my future wallet  ;D.

Do you understand the fact that only 21 million coins will be mined before 2140? If everyone need 50 BTC to secure their future, then it would mean that less than half a million people would be able to do so. And considering the fact that the world population is 7 billion plus, this will amount to less than 0.01% of the humanity. IMO, 1 BTC should be enough in the long term.

You already figured it out. As you can see that no one knows what the "true" value is and what the value will be in the future. When you retire, there are chances that the price maybe extremely low which you forgot to take into consideration. It is always better to keep "alternatives" that will help you secure your future. Don't put everything in bitcoin.
Saving a portion while investing rest in bitcoin and accumulating over time will probably give you a secure future.

I never thought about it. I'm just trading. I trade every day and do not think about the distant future.

The only way the price of bitcoin getting a much lower valuation would be if these institutional investors find another alternative to pump the market which is highly unlikely and the bitcoin market is a pure speculative market and the market usually rallies every four years after halving and that is the trend that is following the market for a decade and i do not see any change anytime soon.

As per securing the future it depends upon your life style and individual aspiration on what they want to do in life and it will change with every individual.

For me as long as you can accumulate for the future the better. Don't limit the amount you want to achieve if you can still gain more, you're not just securing your future but also for your next generations.

In my current situation and state of living I need 1000BTC to fully achieve a more secure not only my future but also my family and relatives. 100BTC for a secure, 10BTC semi secure and 1BTC for just a simple present. Reality is, ever since I got into crypto I don't even find a single Bitcoin before because it is too hard to get one with just bounties but I'm still trying.

People keep on trying to make an earning out of bounties. The days of bounties were over, now we aren't able to make a big earning out of bounties. However we need luck and the mind to keep on trying for the best. What's been mentioned is really big, 1000btc for the living is quite big. It depends, is the story of HODLERS true or not? Is bitcoin digital gold? Will it be more than that? Might some countries with garbage currencies adopt it as their own currency? Unlikely, but who knows.... The US likes to control people, will they ban possession or just regulate it so much to the point Americans will be out of the game? Possible.. The most optimistic scenarios would entail most of the world using bitcoin, at least the developed world anyway. In that case even having a single bitcoin would make you wealthy. Heck I would say in that pie in the sky scenario (but who knows, never say never) a tenth of a bitcoin could make you part of the 1%. If bitcoin is digital gold and people will be moving out of metals and into bitcoin, that's ten trillion in the gold market alone that could be moving into BTC. Multiply BTC by 20 and I think that's reasonable (optimistic of course but not crazy) in today's dollar terms. So a little over 500k a bitcoin. Again there's no guarantee this happens, but it could. In the third world you would probably need one to retire on, in the US, Europe or expensive Asian countries probably need 4 to retire comfortably.

If you want to be on the safe side I wouldn't retire until you have land and property that can tide you over and the BTC is the icing on the cake.

I doubt if we can determine how much we need to secure our future. In fact, people should collect as many as they can to secure their future. On the other hand, the number depends on the person and his goal. If someone has no big goal, he doesn't need many BTC for his future. While if someone expects much on his future, he must hope for a big number of BTC. 10 BTC probably doesn't fulfill his expectation.

I don't need too much bitcoin, as long as I can live happily even a little amount of bitcoin will be enough for me. It's difficult to accumulate large amount of bitcoin if you don't have much capital.

I will be contented with 5BTC to secure my future provided that the price reach $100K of course I will also take into consideration my retirement age range which should be pegged at 60 years at this age with  5BTC I will live conviently without securing any pension or social benefits from any government, of course at that age my demand

Location is the most important aspect here. If you live in central Africa only 1 bitcoin is going to be a lot of money. Enough to start your own business.

In the EU it's also much different. When you live in the country you can buy a house for 50% of what it costs in the city and if you want to live in the capital it's usually another 30% added to the price.

In the EU 5BTC will give you a startup like allow you to start a business, get a flat almost in any city that you choose, allow you to run a franchise, but it won't secure you a future. No money will do that. If you're dumb and don't know how to spend money even 50BTC will only buy you a few years of lavish lifestyle.

I doubt this will be a convenient way to be even save on bitcoins at that time. Securing pension and other benefits from any government should be a must as you won't know what will happen on the future. Anyways, I agree with the amount of Bitcoin you've chosen but I doubt you'll be able to save that much bitcoin once you own it especially if you don't own much bitcoins. That is I guess depending on where you live if you are in the US. 1 bitcoin is surely a small amount but if you are in third world countries, you are a multi-millionaire if you have 1 bitcoin. Humans will never be satisfied with numbers. When you have one now, you want 4, now you have 4, then you want 10, and so on. Likewise with satisfaction with how much BTC is desired in the future for our lives. Of course as many will be answered as possible. Moreover, the future value of the currency will be much heavier. However, I myself don't want to put all my money into Bitcoin for the future. I will also share it with other real businesses in the real world for the long term.

It really depends on the country that you are living in, some countries are high economically so most of their products that a normal person needed is too high. I think the value of bitcoin is much more important than its quantity here.
One who now has 1 btc has a much higher value (and more money) than one who had 1000 bitcoins at the beginning of bitcoin development.

3 bitcoin is not enough to last a lifetime, this is all just hypothetical question about the amount and given the current prices of bitcoin, I don't think that 3 bitcoin will be enough for an insured retirement because along the way in your life, there will be emergencies that you might not expect to happen. For us, living in a 3rd world country where $1 is considered approximately as 50 times value of our local currency, I can say at least 7 btc for me is enough. Or I guess, that is more than enough because we still don't know what price BTC would have few years from now. And I can somehow create lot of passive incomes having that BTC with me leaving me a secure life in the future. Ain't gonna depend on savings to secure my future, I am much more willing to invest and risk on much more things that would create passive income to financially secure myself.

Before I think having one bitcoin is enough because imagine having the price of the bitcoin equivalent to how many dollars because previously when the price of the bitcoin comes into 10k USD and I just have 0.001 its overprice to me but right now the price of the bitcoin comes again into 50k USD it's a very big difference right now. Probably 1-bitcoin should be very much enough for me becasue that will definitely place me into the class of the millionaires which is the best anyone can ask for. It depends very much on what sort of future you are looking for and where you want to live. I Reckon a few bitcoin is enough for most people. Third-world country bitcoin users could even go far with just 1 bitcoin perhaps even less. I mean what do you want? Do you want to eat like a king every day and have a fast car and a large house? The answer to the question is simple. You dont need 5 or 105 BTC to secure future. All you need is just 1 bitcoin. Just 1 (one), which will cost hell lot of money. That is it.

As the price of Bitcoin has soared to about 50K USD so I think 5 will be enough for a person to live a happy life for about ten years. The price of BTC will further increase up to about 140kUSD in a month or two or a year and 5 BTC will be worth more than 6 billion dollars, which is a huge amount of money. It will depend entirely on your cost. You can calculate an estimated amount by calculating how much money you spend in your daily life. It will be different for each person. Someone's life goes on with a little money and someone's demand keeps increasing day by day.

Many, many people have commented that they had wished they were able to know about Bitcoin in 2011 or even 2013. Many of us here were latecomers to the Bitcoin party. Most of us also have heard of it one time in their life but has decided to invest only little, and some of us invest big and sold in 2017 when it reached $20,000. Since i live in a country which currency doesn't have much power, even years ago, 1 btc is already hard to achieve. Like, you have to spend years without spending your salary to achieve that. And now, once btc already rose so high, achieving 1 btc seems like a hard work. Not impossible though, but it will take.... years. even more longer years.
I think having 1 btc is enough to support your live, alone, in my country for at least 6-7 years. and you can live quite luxuriously with that, and without needing to do any job.
And if btc price keeps getting higher, having 1 btc is really a miracle enough for many people.

I agree with you that there's never enough money. The problem is that these 10 btc may no longer have the same value in the future as they do now. This is life, you never know what will happen tomorrow. So it's kinda difficult for me to say how many bitcoins I need to support my life. I'm living in the moment.

Since I live in a third world country, call me crazy, but assuming if price is at least $60,000 per BTC I would go for at least 10 BTC is the minimum that I need to fully secure my long-term future. It’s not just my future, but for my family’s future and for our next generations as well.

With the current prices of bitcoin and if at the next 10 years it will continue to go up, I think that 1500 bitcoin is enough to go on a retirement and have some money for inheritance if having a family is on the table. I mean 1 bitcoin can keep you good for atleast a year but we have to consider that the prices isn't always going high.

That is a great goal and its a goal that really is visibly achievable. I also plan to HODL every possible earning that I have gained and at least create a small business that would be able to stand on an small capital. We might never even expect Bitcoin to rise up to its current value and it just makes people happy that having at least a small amount of Bitcoin is enough for getting through our daily lives.

- 5 to 10 bitcoin are probably the lowest number that can be filled and secured for our future but this is only the goal when we still don't have too many bitcoin, if this goal is achieved, we will need more bitcoin because each of us has yet to give up the quality of greed, the opportunities to make money are overwhelming here, once we have that amount of capital, we will be able to look for more opportunities to develop. We have more money, our future will be more full, generations behind will not be in short economic condition, so the numbers we need are impractical, it will soon change according to our greed

I would rather agree with this point because I'm sure that I would make the same mistake. The more money you have = the more money you can waste. That's why I would rather get some wealth like cars and villas somewhere in Spain instead of the BTC amount.

Right now maybe i can just say 5-10 is enough to secure my future. But as a human being we always greedy and always want more, especially about money it will never be enough.

Like you said earlier it depends on the location of the person, in USA living there is much more expensive, the cost of living in USA can't be compared to any Indonesia country or even African countries. Recently I got a Nigerian friend and we discuss more often and he tells me that if he gets just 1 bitcoin his live would change forever, that 1 bitcoin is worth over 28 million in Nigerian naira, this is a huge money for any citizen in that country to live wealthy, having over 28 million if the money is spent wisely and used for investing certainly will never go broke again, but in USA 1 btc is just below $60 which isn't enough to live very wealthy so the location is the deference.

I can't imagine how much bitcoin amount will be enough for me but i am collecting as much as i can. It will not be possible for me to get 10 bitcoins but any amount which i am able to accumulate will be enough for my future as i am hopeful that bitcoin will reach one million dollar one day.

We have different money spending habits so for sure that our needs are also different to each other, my goal is to have financial freedom and time freedom wherein I can eat whatever I want, I can go whenever I want and I can do whatever I want. For me having 20 btc will fulfill my dream which is to having financial freedom and time freedom. My spending habits is not bad as others and luckily I keep tracking my cashflow where it helps me to determine if I'm doing great or not. If I already have that kind of btc, my plan is to diversify it in assets generating income like real state and of course trading some cryptocurrencies. Securing our future depends on what kind of abilities that we have right now and I think it is important to track if we are doing well right now. Even if we earn huge amount of btc in the future but we do not have enough knowledge then expect that you will lose it in short period of time.

In fact, today, even taking into account the current price of Bitcoin, even one coin would be enough for me to invest it profitably in a business and receive income every month. But as always, people who receive good incomes have an increase in appetites, which means that the demands for life will also grow. But I will still remain a modest person and be satisfied with one bitcoin, although I will not stop working in the cryptocurrency business anyway.

I think it's not how many Bitcoins you need to secure your future but how strong is your mentality to protect your future. No matter how many Bitcoins you get if you don't have a strong mentality or motivation to keep you going on the right direction you'll achieve nothing. In the Philippines a single bitcoin could set 2 families for life in a simple way of living. But for an average family to be able to live without hassles and fears of not being able to pay the bills, next momth or whatnot, they're probably going to need more then 7 bitcoins. The Philippines isn't an expensive country to live in, really but the people in here are third-worlders, meaning some of what you may consider impoverished in the US may live a very good life in here

Securing your future is good but I will not recommend to save bitcoin if you are want to have fix money because what if you save a lot of bitcoin but after 10 years the price is very low. Investing is good but make sure you have a plan and investing to the bitcoin is good to have a better future but we do not know what is the outcome. There is specific amount of bitcoin for securing your future it depends on your strategy, hardwork and also your bitcoin or money that you already have.

Actually it depends on the value of Bitcoin. In the current price of Bitcoin right now, with a price range $50k to $60k, I think it would be enough that I will have at least 50 BTC to secure my future and become financially free.

At the current rate of BTC for someone like me who stays in India, I would need about BTC0.5 a year to lead a comfortable lifestyle. So considering the same, I would peg the number of BTC i would need would be in the range of BTC25-30. However, considering the rate at which BTC is growing and estimating that the value of BTC reaches USD 200K - USD 300K, I would say that I need BTC5 to lead a comfortable life and secure my future.

Unfortunately, I do not hold so much of BTC, and I plan to accumulate at least 1 BTC by the time I reach my retirement.  :D

Never make the mistake to convert all your BTC to FIAT. I recommend converting maximum 20% and keeping the rest because FIAT is doomed to inflation, only cash out how much you need: need to buy a house? Cash out, need to buy a car? Cash out. Recover your BTC from price fluctuation, try to buy it back.

Hello everybody. It is probably useless to talk about how much money will be required for security in the future, since bitcoin is also the equivalent of the money supply. Everyone has their own limit, but whoever will work how much will earn. We are all selfish to some degree. There is no definite safe well-being for my inner consciousness - today a roof over my head and a crust of bread is enough for me - tomorrow I want black caviar. In short, 3 BTC, for me this is the limit from which relative financial security begins.

As a human being and been naturally have that greediness inside then i dont really believe for such limit because if people could able to accumulate more then those numbers would be a bit nonsense.

Do you still remember the history of Pizza Day? How much BTC used at that time would be very sufficient to meet the current needs even for inheritance too. Sometimes, we will never feel enough with the amount of BTC that we own.
For example, if At this time, I said that it is enough to only own 1BTC, but if it is true, I will probably not feel enough with that 1 BTC, I will of course want more and more.

Though as what's happening now that somehow make bitcoin stable in long run, we can't still deny that there is still a chance for bitcoin to fall. Lucky, if after bitcoin crash a huge percentage the person who buy bitcoin as retirement fund can wait until bitcoin recover and raise again but what if not? Bitcoin is a great investment but just like most investment crypto or not the profitability pecentage is not always 100%.

What is certain is that every country will not have the same level of needs. In my country, spending 5 million per month is a lot.
So, for the next 10 years, I only need 600 million for living expenses.

We don't have any specific aside from our own target, and like what most of the replied said it depends from where a person lives and how the economy of that certain places, third world countries have a much lesser needs that those who lives from the first class places.

Well it depends on what future you're talking about. I think in near 10-15 years 5-10 BTC would be great. But in 50 years you'll need to invest in something new instead of BTC. And consider good altcoins too now.

By the way, I am from third world country and if I get chance to go abroad with citizenship for first world country, I won't miss that chance. Then my desire will be changed as well. Considering the current price, the number of bitcoins that I think to guarantee my future is even less than 10. However, if the price of bitcoin increases in the future, it will be a surprise gain for me.

It's hard to evaluate how many bitcoins people need to secure their future, because the reality of each country is very different from each other. I think the question should be how many minimum wages do you need monthly, and how much is the minimum wage in your country. So we could calculate accurately how many bitcoins are necessary to generate that amount of money monthly through a passive income investment.
I think the investment idea is the best approach, so you don't sacrifice your coins along your lifetime, keeping the initial btcs intact, only spending the interest income it creates every month.

When bitcoin was priced low the idea was to target holding 21 bitcoins as supply is fixed which would guarantee demand and with time price would soar.

It's depends on men's personality and lifestyles. If he would be luxurious lifestyles he would need more bitcoin to safe and secure his future. But I think I would manage  my future within 5 bitcoin according to recent market.

This is obviously true. I lived in a province wherein I can buy food with a cheap amount compare to the city. But the reality is we are having an inflation. The amount if $10 today cannot buy the same thing $10 can buy five(5) years or ten(10) years after. My needs also changes especially if I already have my own family to raise. I know bitcoin price rises like how my expenses rises but considering that Bitcoin price also goes down and nobody can actually tell when it will pump or how fast it can rise I cannot be so sure. Due to that I know I cannot directly answer how much bitcoin is exactly I need to secure my future. Expect the unexpected better to keep on earning bitcoin than sorry because you make yourself believe that 10 bitcoin (assume) can already secure your future.

$10000 is not enough money to secure our future but that is already a good start for investing, it is better as well if we ate still going to work hard and keep on earning more money when talking about your future $10000 isn't enough maybe around $100k that is already good to start a big business and have your house and lot.

Everyone's eyes are too high to retire in the crypto money market. In the past, maybe there are not many investors with such a high target. But in recent years, the sudden and unexpected spikes in the cryptocurrency market and the record-breaking record-breaking, has pushed people to be greedy. Since people are greedy, they have even raised their old targets at least 2 times now. Since I think the price of bitcoin will rise a lot, even 5 bitcoin is enough for me.

With a student and struggling to live in the covid19 era.  I am a progressive and independent person, I only need 3BTC to maintain and ensure studying and living during the 19 covid period until I graduate.  Humans do not need to be too greedy, it will make us fall short.

It's never enough. The humans are greedy and they will never be satisfied if you had 10 BTC and for buying a new home/car/etc... you would need more to buy a more expensive and luxury house. If you had the luxury house, you would still need more to by an island. However, in the other theory, some people believe if you only own one bitcoin and save it for years, you would be a part of 1 percent of lucky people who own one bitcoin so you will be rich.

^ Not bad, but that is a small amount in my country, owning 1 BTC for the future is not enough for me, probably it could be 4-5 BTC would be better. When you are talking about security in the future, at least you already owned a house and lot, and car or having a small business that can generate a few hundred bucks in just a month would be better too. Even how big your asset is, it will end up fast losing this. Nevertheless, in the future, I think it is really hard to accumulate BTC since it will become more expensive.

In my country, There are 250 to 300 bitcoin are enough to secure the future. This amount will support you to meet the necessities of life. It will also allow you to buy your own middle-class home or residence. It will also allow you to invest some money in a side business or crypto-based business. It will also enable you to bear the expenditure of your children's education etc.

As time goes by, our needs will definitely increase. Moreover, talking about numbers or values, no one can be sure how many numbers we need in the future. I think taking the time we have to invest as much bitcoin as we can afford is enough to at least guarantee our future.

This is actually an interesting question- since securing your "future" can be a difficult question to answer given the relativity of the amount of money needed in living in a particular area (e.g. first world countries vs third world countries, etc.).

As someone who lives in a third-world country, the amount of 1 BTC can garner you a very comfortable life- you can actually purchase a condominium unit in a relatively safe environment. But if the question focuses on "security in my future", I think having 20-30 BTCs can make my future very secured to the point that I can live accordingly without any hassle or inconvenience.

Yup the expense value differs but when he or she wishes to stay in a country like US, UK from a country which is not developed, he or she would require minimum of 5 Btc for now which is not too much. I frankly need 2 to 3 BTC as of now and I feel thats enough. It relies on where you live and how much the cost of living is. In the first world countries, 1 bitcoin while its price is on $47k isn't enough because cost of living there is too much.

But that 1 bitcoin in some parts of the world, that would be enough for them to have a better living and can have a better start as they have that amount for a business or savings.

But for most people then it would really be talking about the more the better because human beings could never really be contented on what they do have even if they do have almost all the things in the world.

Because I live in a country that is a third world country, I only need 1 BTC to be able to secure the future. Especially if Bitcoin reaches a price of

I already have a calculation that only 2 bitcoins (at the current price rate) should make my life comfortable for the next 60 years. In my city, actually the price of basic necessities is not too high when compared to cities in Singapore or Las Vegas, so I'm quite grateful to be born in a country that doesn't make my life burden high lol.

2 BTC is just $100k at the current price which it would really be sufficient for some years but not for next 60 years but depends if on where you do invest on others with those amounts on making yourself sustainable.
Speaking of how much btc is needed then the more the better just like on what mentioned above is that people wont really be contented on what they do have now or even setting out those unrealistic ones.

As said in the first post everything depends upon the location. In my country the average wage seems to be around $700. There are people running the family of four with this amount. On such a calculation one family requires about 2BTC to lead a better life than what they've got. With time things change, and to the changing world there will be additional requirements. In specific people won't be having medical insurance and other similar stuffs, if those gets added maybe a little more will give access to better life style.

Prices are rising as the year progresses, but 2-3 btc is more than enough to live in lift to the fullest.I think we are the same since owning a half of bitcoin right now makes you a millionaire in our country, and that makes you buy everything needed, but to secure your future, then 2-3btc is the best since you'll need to buy land and houses for your children and secure their education. However, you must continue to work because that amount of BTC will be depleted in the near future, and you will require a source of income to support yourself.

The price also changes every year and if you are holding a huge amount today, that will suffice you for the next year to come especially when the price will gonna reach another ATH, it keeps increasing until you have more than enough bitcoins to build your fancy home. If you checked the history of its price then everything will make sense when you have enough guts to hold huge amount of bitcoins, it will really become your main successful investment in the future.

I guess that's the same as my location but getting one bitcoin is still a good thing but if bitcoin continues to rise in value that may not be achievable in a short amount of time. As for the insurance kinds of stuff, I think individuals have their choice. If they want a lifestyle that was more secure for their health or beneficiaries then insurance I guess is a must but as I said it depends on every individual taste of investments.

In what country is that? The cost of living there seems to be affordable and wise if someone wants to live there comfortably. 2 BTC with its current price and living comfortably there seems cheap. It is somewhere in Asia? and are there a lot of ex-pats living there too and found that your place is one of the cheapest places to stay? If you're not a family man then there's really no burden at all but I think if you start your own family, things might change including the finances.

As Lark Davis said, you will probably need one bitcoin to be well-off in the future. However, just because you cannot afford one bitcoin should not deter you: you can dollar-cost average and build up your stack over time, and in this way build up your net worth.

You can also buy solid alts during bear markets and flip them to bitcoin during bull markets to speed up your acquisition of bitcoin.

if we will only compare the price of Bitcoin now then 1 bitcoin wasn't enough to secure our future though what you quoted is surely depend on how will bitcoin perform in the future.
Imagine if bitcoin rose to 1 million dollar value in the next few years then yes 1 bitcoin is enough for our future security.
but the problem is what if Bitcoin downfall to 5 digits still when the time you needed the funds?

As for me, I don't think about what amount of Bitcoins I want to owe, but maybe it is a good and specific goal if you know an exact number of Bitcoin you want, but personally I think about it in a little bit another manner. It is difficult to say how many bitcons are needed. I can't guess. It may be unimaginable to give a specific bell. Even if it is less, it will not secure the future.
