Title: [banned mixer] - Broken system, no output
Post by: heromain on December 30, 2020, 03:19:51 PM
What happened::
I tried using [banned mixer]'s services like usual, I selected I wanted to use two input addresses seeing how I had two different wallets I wanted to clean from. I then proceeded to send two amounts from two different addresses not noticing they were under the mininum of 0.001.

Seeing that I was bummed out, seeing I made a mistake I went on to make sure both input addresses got at least 0.001 by adding funds to both from a 3rd wallet.

I downloaded the LOG (letter of guarantee) and made sure to verify it before sending anything to it. I then closed the window assuming it would just send. Now I check my output address. It received fucking 14 USD when I put at least 30 USD in each. Where the fuck is my money? I emailed them, no response.

Before anything else, can you please clarify if it's [banned mixer] or coinmixer.io? Are they the same or one is a copycat? I checked both websites and they look similar. The ANN thread link is also the same. I just wanna make sure since there are cases of mixer clones.

update: I checked the ANN and it says coinmixer.io is a phishing website. Looks like you've fallen victim.

Here is some of reported phishing websites:

Can you please confirm it’s not a mistake from your side? As you told, they have paid you $14 and the total sum which is supposed to be scammed isn’t also big, I would say there might be something which you are missing.

Oops! It was [banned mixer], not coinmixer, my bad.

Either way, perhaps I wasn't intentionally scammed. Either way, I lost my funds.

I can show all transaction ID's and the Letter of Guarantee as well. Any admin?

If you have proof, you can share it here to prove that cyptomixer.io has scammed you. If your evidence is strong, DT will tag the [banned mixer] account. However, [banned mixer]'s BitcoinTalk account has been offline for some days.

Right, but the matter is privacy centered. I can't link these coins to this account lol.  :(

You're right. But that's the only way of proving they didn't fill their part of the agreement.

You could wait more to see if they come back from their holiday vacations and solve your issue (offline since the 24th :D). If you get tired of waiting, I have verified letters of other users in the past (including one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1484009.msg54054083#msg54054083) from CryptoMixer related to a 120+ BTC mix), so if you want you could let me verify it and vouch publicly for you.

Of course, that would mean I would have all the informations about your mixing, so you should be aware of the privacy risk.

I can do the same, feel free to email me at LoyceVswitzerland@protonmail.com. If you use Protonmail to send the email, it should use full encryption so nobody in between can read the email.

That being said, I just checked their website. It shows:
Quote
Send your coins (min 0.001, max 146.0188 BTC) to:
From the faq:
Quote
Due to the nature of our operations we do not accommodate transactions that are less than .001 BTC in size. We consider the smaller transactions to be donations made to our system.
My sample Letter of Guarantee shows this:
Quote
Our fee is 2.9939% + 0.0005 BTC for every target address.
So based on this, and your deposits:
0.00097 BTC
0.00062 BTC
0.001     BTC
0.00048 BTC
TOTAL: 0.00307+ BTC (minus the 14 USD they sent)
I would expect the first, second and fourth payment to be considered donations. That leaves 0.001 BTC, minus the percentage and transaction fee, and you'll end up with less than 0.0005 BTC. That would be very close to the $14 you received.

From what I've seen, I wouldn't call this a scam. It sucks, but small inputs are expensive to consolidate (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2848987.0).
