Title: What's the best way to have multiple Metamasks?
Post by: SiverSurfer on December 31, 2020, 01:19:02 PM
Hi,

I run three instances of Metamask on Firefox, Brave and Chrome. Lately I want to have a new wallet (fourth) but have a hard time figuring out how as there is no more browser that supports Metamask....

I know one way is to log in and out of the browser into my new wallet but I don't want to do that as this exposes my seed, especially I hang out at coffee shop this is not ideal.

Any suggestions out there? Or is there a metamask equivalent that I can install in browsers? I am not looking at hardware solutions FYI.

Do you have a smartphone? I'm guessing you have so just go to metamask official website and download metamask application for your mobile phone, though you can open Multiple eth address on single metamask wallet either in app or browser extension, this would safe you lot of stress

Fourth one can be edge which is already mentioned in their official website. https://metamask.io/download.html

But why you need to download separate browser for your every addresses when you can add more address on the same browser itself?

You can have multiple eth public keys inside one metamask and use 1 seed to manage them all. If this is not helpful for your case and you need separate metamask accounts you can make a new Windows PC user and create another 3 instances again on firefox, brave, chrome.

Everyone already said you can have multiple addresses on Metamask, I also have 100 addresses on my metamask. You just need to do :
- Open Metamask
- Fill Password
- Click Profile
- Choose +Create Account
- Name your new wallet
- Then, click created

Walla, you already have a new address wallet in a single wallet.

This guy is right. There is one browser that you haven't said. The one that you haven't mentioned is the Microsoft Edge.

If you're running into a windows PC, you can use Microsoft Edge as stated on that page. If not, you can download it.

That's true. I am actually referring to have a new seed so that I can generates addresses under this seed conveniently....

I agree this is what came to my mind I have different addresses on my metamask if you really wanted to have multiple accounts you can just create a password manager with all the passphrase and the likes and just use those when logging in to metamask.

That's what I don't want to do. I want to only use password but not passphrase as I am always at cafe. But thanks again, I've found a (temporary) solution in Microsoft Edge. So right now sticking to Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Brave for four profile of Metamask.

I have a recommendation for you to use portable chrome, and then you can make your own more separate chrome. It will make it possible for you to use more metamask, but I don't know if it will help you much, but for me personally 1 metamask on pc + mobile.

Metamask is one of the most convenient and secure wallets. I have been using it for a long time, I am satisfied with everything, the commissions are acceptable, everything in it is clear even for beginners. In Telegram, there is a bot that sends notifications about which coins came to the wallet and you can check the balance.

You can use the opera and Yandex browser. They both support chrome extinctions and I am also using them. You can also use metamask apps and clone them with multi-app users app to use them. But I didn't get why you need to use multiple metamask to use multiple wallets? you can use multiple wallets through one metamask Extention.

That’s very helpful - Yandex and Opera can be my next options!

This is indeed a good suggestion but the risk is there also as you can lost all your assets if you will forgot your key. In his scenario, I believe he wants to have a four different wallet with four different keys.

An app is your additional option if in case you are using some smart phones but if you are only sticking with laptops and desktops then you can use Edge as metamask is also available to it though I am not sure if it is also available to IE as was unable to try it.

to use multiple seeds you could just restore them every time you want to switch wallets
