Title: Bitcoin 2021 resolution
Post by: acener on December 31, 2020, 10:47:17 PM
Happy New Year Everyone I created this thread to know what is your Bitcoin or crypto new years resolution.
And since I am the creator of the thread I would be the first to say my resolution.
1. I would try to avoid overspending my money on games and gambling so my crypto savings wouldn't be affected.
2. I would try to invest regularly each time I would recieve my salary.
3. I would try to spend my money wisely and avoid unnecessary purchases.
I hope I could do all of this till the end of 2021 and see how much I have save.

1. I would try to avoid overspending my money on games and gambling so my crypto savings wouldn't be affected.

That’s a daring thing you said to be honest.
In 2020, i have almost lost 1000$+ worth of Bitcoins in Gambling only. If I would have saved it today I would have got the thrice of the amount.

Moreover coming to the salary thing mentioned by you, then if i were you, i wouldn’t have done it.
It’s better to keep the salary for your family or in a savings account as who knows whenever you might need some quick cash in hand.
Yes if your salary is more than enough then you can surely invest a small part of it as an investment.

Hope this new year brings happiness to everyone’s life.
Happy New Year.

Truth be told OP, resolutions do not last that long. If you really wanted to change, New Year is not a special time, it could have happened at May 20, 2020. My point is that change does not need to have a schedule, it is gradual and the only way that your resolutions can happen is when you put the effort to do it, do it instead of announcing that you will do it.

I only have 2 Bitcoin 2021 Resolution.
1. To invest more into crypto and I'm always ready if the worst happens.
2. Will use a portion of my Bitcoin to help people in need.

1. I would try to avoid overspending my money on games and gambling so my crypto savings wouldn't be affected.
I'm not gambling already but I've spending money in games that I've played. Maybe I will adjust my spending too in games :D.

2. I would try to invest regularly each time I would recieve my salary.
3. I would try to spend my money wisely and avoid unnecessary purchases.
These 2 must be done by all of us if we want to be rich in the future :D. Know where we are spending our money and invest regularly.

I wish you luck my friend but your words tell me that your resolutions are not strong enough. If instead of "I would try to..." you had said "I am going to..." I would believe your resolutions are strong.

As for gambling, I want you to think that every time you gamble $1, the potential return is always lower than that, so the more times you gamble the more likely it is that you are going to lose your money, no matter how good short-term results are. I know that gambling has more to do with behavior than with knowledge but gambling to make money is to throw your money away while self-deceiving.  It's another thing if you gamble in a controlled and rational way to entertain yourself but the way you write tells me that you don't and that you play more than you would like.

I haven't made any resolutions myself (with the exception of blocking the DT Trolls for all of 2021) however, I've been stockpiling *all* of the Bitcoins I've accumulated during the about nine months I've been in Signature Campaigns for use in creating Lightning Network Channels. So, like the fellow who recently gave up cigarettes and is putting away that money as crypto, I guess HODLing for a year or two is my XMAS-Crypto resolution.

The one and only resolution for the year 2021. At any instance should not cash out the bitcoins earned through the Campaigns and other services. This was the resolution taken an year in 2020. I'm sure that the resolution won't last more than a month. Somehow will manage for a month, beyond that I don't think I'll keep up the resolution.

Happy New Year.
Haven't lost too much in gambling since I played seldomly but I have spent too much on my online game so that is why I put it on my resolution.
And regarding to the salary investment that I am talking about it isn't my whole salary it would just be a small part of it like spending my money for cigarrete or alcohol.

P.S I don't really smoke or drink I just put it that way because most of us are spending our salary for it regularly.

Yes I know it but I want to try to do it right now to have a fresh start along with the new year.
I have avoided gambling for too long so I would just continue it and try to achieve what's left on my resolution thanks.

Maybe I would also try it save up all my earnings in campaign.

Everyone was talking about stacking bitcoins or stacking sats this 2021.

But I haven't heard anyone really educating themselves on how to protect their wallets from hacks or even a loss seed or private key. I think this should be in everyone's resolution in 2021, if you have a lot of bitcoins in your wallet, then you should also learn how to handle it securely because it will be one of the worst experience to lost all your hard earn bitcoin from hackers or mismanagement on our part.

I like this idea of a thread so thanks you for making it so I didnt going to have to.
For me I will not gamble so many of my Bitcoins this year 2021 and I will not use them on things that arent needed in my life.
I will try to spend my money more wisely and avoid doing bad things to my body.

Well, just simple new years resolution I have;

- to lessen my greed whenever I do gain enough profits for both trading and gambling.

There are lots of blessings I have receieved from 2020 even pandemic and struggles have been entered one's life. I hope this 2021, everyone will overcome all the problems from 2020 and this 2021 will be a good year to all especially to the bitcointalk members.

one of the views that are different from our friends and it is clear that all currently focus on increasing bitcoin and maybe as you say is more focused on how to produce more, but the points that you mention should also be one very important point.

because if the knowledge is not appropriate how to save what we already have and one day something we don't want happens where there is a hacking of the funds that have been saved, of course this is something very detrimental and very impactful, because of what the hard work has been spent and the possible funds. not the least bit sucked there, lost in a single move due to a misplaced misplacement.

We have to admit that in a very high bitcoin situation there will be many people who want to profit in a way that is not good enough, they are trying to be able to take the wealth of people who do not think about good storage methods. certainly a good idea from you to raise this issue.

The majority of my Bitcoin was lost in Gambling particularly in the crash game, I think it should be removed from my system totally, Thats was my Bitcoin resolution for 2021 and I hope I can successfully remove it from my habit because it's cost me much and because of this I was not able to pay my loan on time
thats why Gambling is not good because it was addictive and can be ruined your life.

I ain't spending my coins this year.  ;)

Seriously, it's incredibly how high bitcoin went in the last 3 months. We may see some huge dips, though, so buy then! I really did not expect bitcoin's price to be $29,000 at the end of the year, no one did. And remember, it's never too late (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5299128.msg55804190#msg55804190)!

The Cryptocurrency market will experience a tremendous movement this year hopefully as BTC is in upward trend and I believe this bullrun will continue for few more days, and we can see BTC more as a store of value.

In my opinion from 2022 BTC will be used more often by many people and the real time users will surely increase in big numbers and it will make BTC more stronger than before, my only resolution this year is to make more BTC and hold for long-term.

Last year, only Covid-19 was not good, but the bitcoin price showed a positive result and we see that bitcoin was pumped too much and we're almost $30k as of now. Happy new year to all of us, and I am happy to see that in a new ATH, bitcoin was broken, the most anticipated moment finally came, and I know most bitcoiners are profit making. Let's just hope that bitcoin and also the bitcoiners will bring too much benefits this year 2021.

I will still to my old plan, which saves more bitcoin and will not stop, even if I already have many bitcoin. Maybe I will stop saving more bitcoin if I die, but I am sure that my family will continue what I did because I already told them about bitcoin. But that will be up to them if they want to continue what I did. Besides that, I will try to invest in bitcoin and altcoin, which I think it could give me more profit, so that can help me to increase the bitcoin amount.

I'll still to my resolution, same as last year, to accumulate as much bitcoin as I can. It curtails a lot of mental toughness to be honest, but if you are like looking for your future and your family in the next 5 years then nothing can stop anyone to get at least 1 BTC. As for overspending, of course, that's another goal of everyone, to live frugal and be wise on our spending.

New Year resolutions simply don't work for me.
Every time, when I promise to myself to do something or don't do something I just forget about it or find various excuses to refuse to do it.
I guess that self-improvement isn't my thing and I'm too lazy, unfocused and addicted to my habits.
I just wish to have a job and a steady income source during the entire 2021.

To me everyday I wake up to see another bright new day it’s a new resolution for me. I don’t wait for any special day to take decisions concerning anything including in bitcoin experience and knowledge. I brainstorm and make researches about Cryptocurrency and how to contribute to these forum positively and these is my everyday day resolution.

preventing not to spend money is very good and it's one of the major thing we have to know and handle with carefulness, because anyone money controls are incapable to control wealth, i really like such ideology because investment is most important thing that add values for the life of humans.

1 and 3 both talks spendings . they can be meged on one number but its up to you , your the creator.  i like the second one which was investing , make sure you put most investment on worth it cryptos but i guess you already what they are . your on a campaign same as mine and that means you are also recieveing a btc , you can keep some of that btc untouched and that can already act as an investment or can be a savings too at the same time . mines resolution is also i want to save but not in pure btc , rest resolution is health and mental related .

LN is still highly experimental, so I wouldn't feel safe holding a lot of funds in there. I consider HODLing more of a cold storage kinda thing than using hot wallets or even active open channels.
Just last week I found a really nice way to use my LN funds. I use it to buy coupons to buy what I need. It's a rediculous system with several additional middlemen, but it saves the ~0.2 mBTC "network fee" charged by BitPay, and my own on-chain transaction fee. For a small payment (around $20), I now pay a total of around $1 in fees, instead of $5 or more.
If I can wish for someone else's new year's resolution: I hope shops that now accept Bitcoin start accepting Bitcoin LN this year, so I can cut out multiple middlemen.

1. I would try to avoid overspending my money on games and gambling so my crypto savings wouldn't be affected.

That's a tough one but I hope you achieve this as it will significantly lower your losses.
Quote
2. I would try to invest regularly each time I would recieve my salary.

That's a nice one. So you would be basically implementing an SIP for bitcoin. You would definitely reap it's benefits in the long run if you do it regularly.

My crypto resolution would be to develop a skillset which is enough for me to start delivering services which can yield me an alternate source of crypto income.
Multiple sources of crypto income is what I would desperately want in 2021 and I would definitely try harder to achieve this.

I hope your resolution can be achieved proferly and can stand although bitcoin price fall drastically. We are in a good situation, so as  we will only hope bitcoin can increase more than now. Because if the market situation change I bet there will be many negative information and can change many investor mind to still hold their bitcoin. Most likely they will follow what many people do, panic selling or panic buying, yeah we will seet it. Honestly, we have different point of view about the strategy to buy and hold bitcoin. I prefer to see bitcoin meet a correction first, yeah we haven't met a correction yet so we can assume that the price action run healthy. After the correction come I'll buy bitcoin as much as I can.

For the first time in my life I was able to save thanks to Bitcoin and crypto. Which means that it is possible to do so. Bitcoin has disrupted money.
Decentralization worked. Being your own bank is completely true.

Now for this 2021 I will continue my scheme and will be improving it along the way.
I need to continue learning about all this new technology to make use of it and never stop learning because I like to go through life learning new things.
I am aware that we are living a stellar moment, we are knowing it first hand to be able to teach it to others and spread it around the world.

~

Save as everybody, it seems like investing is the way to go in order to generate more profit for the future.

For my New Years' resolution, I would like to invest more than what I spend from my money, I do buy I lot of unnecessary things that I don't really need recently so I would like to change that.

It doesn't really matter as long as you invest your money all of the investment would pay off in the end and it just more like a waiting game that you need to fight. So for me investing more is the way to go.

Looks like many members here are up to saving this year. Well, I got to say, I'm no different. My target this year is to save more than I have to spend. And be wiser in handling my money.

I'm not really a fan of New Year's Resolution because I believe that everyday is a chance for us to change. But having something like this can help us be motivated. I just hope that we can stay on our tracks and make all our resolutions come true.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Resolutions are nothing but assumptions to oneself. It will only matter if the one making it, would actually do it which makes it hard if changes will be that much. Discipline is a must if you want to accomplish your resolutions. Funny how many times people are making this "New Year Resolution" but are not making any efforts to make it in reality. Also, we don't really need to wait 'til New Year's eve to decide what you want to change in yourself. I' d say you can promise to yourself any day. But I do still admire the plans an individual is making because it would be a good start, actualization will make it better. Good year it was for this industry and if things will be continuous, I would anticipate a prosperous 2021 for our investments in this industry. Let us all be productive with crypto investments.

For me,
1. Think first thoroughly before making purchases especially those I made only. I got broken-hearted, then I got this weird habit to spend my savings on expensive things. These things turn out either defective or parts need to be changed.
2. Invest excess money and signature earnings on bitcoin! I should have continued the signature campaigns. Sad now bitcoin is soaring and I don't have money to invest.
3. Learn everything I can this year. I will try my best to thoroughly read long paragraphs of the blog or post here in BTT. I tried this just a while ago and I was shocked at how many details you can get from the post by reading it thoroughly.

Better I just go through the year and accept what ever outcome it gives. If I try setting any bitcoin goals it might backfire at the very end just as it did in 2020. In 2020 I promised to increase my bitcoin portfolio and let go of alts which if I have successfully done by now I would have been among those celebrating happily as bitcoin has done impressive numbers this year.

The defi hype got to me and I used my saved bitcoin for investment which didn't turn out as planned. This year I won't be setting any bitcoin goals although as usual I'll try to make bitcoin my priority as I'll try my best to get my hands on more Bitcoin as possible.

Buying now won't be something I'll be doing though as I feel it's now overpriced, the fomo is now much and who knows it might do any 2018 all over.
