Title: Video Sources for Beginners
Post by: pawanjain on January 01, 2021, 02:13:30 PM
Youtube is a great source for videos and a lot of people on Youtube give out knowledgeable videos which many users find helpful.
I haven't seen many people posting links to video sources here and I think there needs to be a thread Indian beginners can refer to for crypto related content.
Below is a list of videos on Youtube which I think can be useful for native Indians to enhance their knowledge on crypto and blockchain.
These videos do provide a little technical aspects but don't rely on them heavily and beginners should do their own research to get detailed understanding of these concepts.
Also, I am in no way affiliated to any of these videos and just posting it here for people to get a basic grasp on how bitcoin and blockchain works.
I will be updating the list quite often based on the response this thread gets.

Note : Few videos might have a few points which are misleading. So do a good research to get detailed information on the topics.
These videos are just for basic understanding on how the terminology works.

Nice thread! YouTube is a good platform for beginners to get first piece of information about anything. I watched couple of videos from the list. Videos have good beginner's content, however one thing most of the introductory videos do wrong is selling blockchain as some kind of magic which IMO is irrational. For example, in the quoted video, instructor refers blockchain as -

Quote
distributed real-time peer to peer immutable database

Adding the word 'immutable' without context is misleading. After referring blockchain as immutable, he goes on explaining how it can have various use-cases like voting, real estate, etc. just because blockchain is immutable. But this is not true. Blockchain is mutable. Bitcoin's blockchain is difficult to mutate due to very high requirement of computational power required to perform Proof-of-Work. But this can't be said for other use-cases.

If blockchain is to be used for let say, Real Estate, who is going to add data to the chain? Government? If yes then how much work will the government do to secure the chain? Would that be enough to avoid 51% attack from external agents? One argument against this is government will use permission-based blockchain where only government will have permission to add data. My counter-argument is, if it's down to permission then what is wrong with using centralized permission-based database? An important point to consider before dreaming to build Rome on blockchain is how are you going to make blockchain secure at first place.

Nice thread mate , there is a lot of youtube channels that are doing daily vidoes about blokchain , bitcoin and other altcoins but they dont get the required
attention and thats why you dont see them in the first pages of youtube ..
also if you could find some courses and youtube videos that are talking about technical analysis that would be great for your topic if you added them to it , because im sure that many members here are looking for those kind of videos but they dont know how to look well about them .

Yes you are right and I am aware of this which is why I mentioned in OP

I'll add a note to the OP though. Thanks.

In my opinion, smart contracts are sufficient for Real Estate use-case where all the paper work is validated by a trusted person and it is passed on in digital format to the smart contracts.
Once the smart contracts validate it as a valid entry it will store the data on the blockchain which can never be changed after this point.
The other nodes on the network can verify the entry and thus decentralization would be achieved for Real Estate.

You guys can always throw your suggestions on this thread. I will go through each of them and add it to OP if you guys find a good video which is helpful for others.

I believe beginners need to understand the terminology first rather than blindly trading an asset. This thread is for beginners who want to understand what is all about.
Trading videos can have separate thread :-)

I have made a thread earlier on some courses. You can check them out and let me know in case of any concerns.
